Homestead Cabin Cafe in Tendring

Great cafe on the Homestead Lake campsite. We had a breakfast and two lunches there. The home made turkey and mushroom pie was lovely as were the omelettes. We also tried the apple crumble and cherry crumble – both very nice. We missed out on Fish and Chip Friday as we did not book. They also do Roasts on a Sunday but we didnt get a chance to try them but going by the other food served, I am sure it will be good the next time we visit the campsite. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food,very friendly staff.Really clean on all counts.Very generous portions.Most probably the best All Day Breakfast I have ever had.We will definitely go there very soon 👍😀

Variable menu with great service and freindly people, go as often as we can for breakfast and Sunday lunch perfect.

Take no notice of the old bloke moaning about his broccoli, how petty …the food here is great, and the service couldn’t be better. We eaten here regularly for years, and will continue to do so

Went today for a Sunday Roast. Have been there many times for different meals, breakfasts, lunches or in this case Sunday roast and all meals have been ok. Today I felt let down by the staff when I said about the quality of some of the vegetables ie broccoli. It was green on the end but yellow underneath. When it was placed on the table I said about the colour and she said that it's the way it's been cooked. Another waitress that I mentioned it to said other people had left it but when I heard a third waitress tell a chap who was sitting on the next table, that we cooked it especially for you that way and carried on treating it as a joke. We were leaving at that point so I moved over to where the other chap was sitting and joined in speaking to the waitress. I said about our broccoli being left and again it was just made into a joke by her. She said "you have eaten it so it must have been ok", with that I pointed to our two plates with the broccoli not touched. With that she said there is another place down the road, go there next time. It was her attitude that upset me for having been there so many times before and not taken the complaint seriously. No apology and definitely no offer of a refund.

My husband and I often go here for breakfast as we are quite local. The food is always served very fast, is piping hot and cooked to perfection. Service is always with a smile and the breakfast choices are all excellent value. During COVID the safety measures have been excellent and we feel very safe there. We sign in and the tables are well spaced, and each set of tables and chairs is thoroughly disinfected between customers. Very highly recommended

My wife and I were visiting the area and had stayed at a local Caravan Club Approved Location. Well as usual we had run out of Gas so we looked on the internet and found Homestead Caravan and Outdoor Leisure - fortunately they sold gas.On arrival we found the shop and bought the gas. After wandering around the shop we noticed Homestead Cabin Cafe. We looked inside and noticed that they did breakfasts and lunches; however as it was Sunday they did a Sunday Roast. As we were travelling back home later that day we decided to have a Sunday Roast, which happened to be Roast Beef, this starts at 12:00. We were a bit early as it was only 11:30, so we ordered a tea and read the newspapers that were available. We paid for our dinner, we ordered the larger portion which is available - very hungry. Well at 11:50 our dinners arrived. It looked really good. The roast potatoes were superb and the vegetables were cooked perfectly for me. The roast beef was really nice. Overall the dinner was great and I would say it was great value.Well the dinner just set us up for a pudding. We ordered a syrup sponge pudding and a spotted dick pudding - both with custard. They arrived after about 5 minutes. The first thing I noticed was there was a good portion of custard. They were steaming hot. The were just what we wanted.The cafe is not massive, although there is extra indoor seating in an annex. The cafe appears to be popular with locals and visitors like us. The decor of the cafe was nice and the seating was okay. There is ample parking at no charge.In summary this is a great little cafe. Very good food at a good price. I have paid double for the same meal at other cafe/restaurants. The staff are really friendly - good customer service. We will definitely visit again if in the area as the breakfasts looked just as good as the dinners. Well worth a visit.

We had a lovely breakfast before we went to the Christmas fair. The food was great piping hot and didn't wait to long for it and the coffee was suburb.

Used by local tradesmen as the food is fresh and tasty. Cold soft drinks also sold as well as desserts and ice creams. Log cabin style on a caravan park.

I am still a regular to this lovely little cafe tucked away in Weeley. The food is very good value for money. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have added homemade cakes to the menu and they are delicious especially the lemon drizzle. Clean environment good variety of food offered.

Breakfast here is a great . Reasonably priced, freshly cooked, served promptly in a busy little café ,first visit ,but will go back .take away available .

Fuimos a la Tienda de camping para algunas cosas y decidimos pasar un poco para comer en la cafetería, que resultó ser tan buena como la tienda. El servicio fue rápido y la comida estaba cocinada y luego. Vale la pena vuelve en la próxima iMessage tu en la tienda.

Bastante, pero una pequeña cafetería con buena comida y buen servicio. Orden en el mostrador y disfrutar de una comida sabrosa. La comida siempre es caliente y bien presentada. Un buen café y té, sólo un lugar agradable para relajarse para un desayuno. También ofrecen otras comidas.

Después de leer acerca de este café en tripadvisor y porque mi esposo y yo vivimos sólo a unos 10 minutos en coche decidimos probarlo, nos alegramos mucho de haberlo hecho. La cafetería se encuentra en la entrada de Homestead caravanas & ocio al aire libre. Hay un ambiente hogareño y está muy limpia y bien amueblada - cómodas sillas con cojines. Tuvimos la cabaña desayuno que estaba muy bien preparado y disfrutamos mucho. El servicio fue rápido y el personal era agradable y eficiente. Volveremos a probar más de los regalos en el menú, que para una cafetería pequeña es bastante extensa. Nos hubiese gustado haberlo encontrado antes!

Used to like this place until one morning my egg arrived with a hard yoke, mushrooms practically raw, the look on the short dark haired womens face when I asked for a runny yoke and cooked mushrooms was a discrace!!! She slammed my plate down in front of me with my little children at the table, we will never go in there again!!!

Desayuno preparado a la orden, muy sabrosa. Buenos precios y un personal amable y el ambiente. Un poco de frío con apertura de puerta y no cierre muy bien pero bien vale la pena una visita si son de esa manera o en caravanas para la venta o en la gran tienda adyacente que tiene todo lo que necesita para caravana o motorhoming ing. Siempre esperamos una taza de té o café y un bocado para comer cuando vamos a la tienda.

I was checking out the campsite and thought I would nip in and have breakfast, Im glad I did, the food was cooked to order, and was lovely. Very good prices too. I would highly recommend this place. Great staff too

Thought we'd try this little place for a change and we were pleasantly surprised. It was very well laid out, clean, excellent menu selection for a little café and the staff were very friendly and efficient. We'll definitely be going back on a more regular basis.

Excellent value for money, food and service always good. Usually busy so proves how good it is. Not fine dining but everyday food. Breakfast is big and good, everything is cooked to order so always fresh.

Not gourmet eating but if you want a good lunch this cafe is well worth a visit. Service prompt and friendly choice and quality of food good and won't cost much. Pop in from time to time as it is 15 mins away - and their sunday lunch is surprisingly good. Closes mid afternoon.

This café/restaurant is tucked inside a caravan sales property called Homestead Caravans. It looks to be a family-run business serving breakfasts, lunches and of course snacks of all varieties all at very reasonable prices and all freshly cooked and delivered to your table after ordering at the counter - we have visited several times now and have never had a bad snack or meal as we have tried it all! And it is by no means a 'greasy-spoon' experience. Well worth a visit -or two!

The cabin breakfast is very good and reasonably priced and welcome break from the usual clinical tea rooms of other venues with a homely feel to the place service with a smile is the order of this Nice cafe I would recommend you try here even if it's for tea and cake!

I visit this cafe regularly and the food is good value for money and delicious - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The owners and staff are very welcoming
