This cafe has quite a few seats inside and outside with views to the river. They do vegetarian hot and cold food as well as cakes and hot drinks. Our tea and applecake was very nice if a little bit expensive.

It's always a delight to find a good vegetarian cafe and this one is lovely. Maybe it's because we're not from the area but had I not known to look for it then we might have walked straight past. There's a wide range of savoury options and my only gripe would be that they're so filling I've not yet been able to sample one of the many delicious cakes and desserts also on offer!

Great cute little cafe for coffee and croissants in the Terrace Gardens. The building is no oil painting but quaint. Great coffee and caters for vegetarians. A pleasant walk through the gardens to reach it. Reasonably priced.

This is the perfect spot for a warm drink pre or post walking Richmond Park. It reminds me of The Hobbit! The blankets and hot water bottles are a lovely touch 😊

Always had great meals and snacks here - wonderful soups, cauliflower tart/pie is great and delicious home made smoothies and juices. Definitely something here for everyone even those who wouldn't normally choose veggie food. You can sit outside at tables or on the grassy banks around the cafe on nice days.

Hollyhock Cafe is perched at the top of Terrace Gardens. Not immediately obvious, its clearly popular with locals and is perfect for a coffee and cake or a light lunch. Inside is arty and atmospheric. But its the outer terrace that makes this place, that and the very friendly staff. The terrace is shaded by trees, full of the sound of birds singing and the occasional squirrel darting about. You can see the Thames peeping through the trees in the distance. Its just a gorgeous place to rest and relax for a while. During Term Time avoid the after school rush, apart from that I don't want to spread the word too much, as its my favourite place in Richmond. (You can get to the gardens and cafe from the river, via an underpass that says Terrace Gardens)

On a really hot day I was amazed to find this little cafe in Terrace Gardens, just off the beaten track, but so much nicer than trawling in to Richmond for some typical food franchise experience. Homemade cakes, proper tea and a great setting with views from the terrace.

This small but amazing cafe is located about 10 or 15 minutes stroll along the river from Richmond Bridge in the beautful Terrace Gardens. The gardens are a delight and the cafe serves vegetarian food as well as high quality coffee and cakes. There are tables outside under cover with view across the Thames. I have never had hot food here as the food in the sister cafe in Richmond is over priced and may be here too but for coffee and cake you can't go wrong.

Hollyhocks Cafe is in the Terrace Gardens overlooking the River Thames, just outside Richmond (a short stroll along the river towpath). It is a vegetarian/vegan/wholefood cafe with a wonderful range of pies, pastries, salads, cakes and drinks. We arrived about 12.30 and had a tasty cheese and onion quiches with salad; plus hummus with toast; followed by a bakewell tart and Portuguese tart with a pot of tea. We sat outside on the terrace and the place was heaving by 1pm with barely a spare seat available. This is definitely worth trying if you find yourself in Richmond. Strongly recommend it.

A tiny cafe tucked into the Hill in the Park below Richmond Hill. Lovely setting with the best view in the world. Not a swish or fancy place and its counter service, but sitting beneath the canopied terrace in the sunshine eating tea and the best carrot cake ever was bliss. Wasn't easy to find, and now I know why - those in the know want it kept a secret. And no wonder. Those with cars will find parking a problem.

If you are visiting Richmond and feel the need for a coffee and cake then walk about 500 metres towards Kingston along the River. When you reach the end of the buildings either head up to the road and across into the park or carry on along the river for another 50 metres and go left through a tunnel under the road into the park. The park itself is delightful and worth half an hour to explore. It has some beautiful flowerbeds and is never crowded. The cafe is in the middle of the park. It is small but has quite a few tables outside and the views over the Thames are to die for.The coffee is excellent quality as are the cakes. The service is relaxed and friendly. This place is the sister cafe to Tide Tables in Richmond. The food is good but very expensive so stick to coffee and cake.

This is a great place to come whether you're vegetarian or not (but I am, so it's especially good!) There's a wide selection of tasty savoury dishes, or delicious cakes, with various types of tea and coffee. It's really nice to find a veggie cafe with a broad range of good food and drink - like someone else says, below, you kind of want to keep it secret. There isn't a huge amount of seating inside but there's a lovely, cosy atmosphere, and if you sit outside they'll offer you a blanket on chilly days! Great location to sit, chat, relax, eat, drink, read the paper, etc. - and watch the birds and squirrels in the park, too.

The setting alone makes it worth a visit, nestled in glorious Richmond parkland between the river and some of the best views of the river and all of London. It is like stumbling on a fairytale, where you want to become part of the tale. So quaint it hurts. And the food is first class, organic, vegetarian and all manner of constantly changing home-made cooking at its best. my strongest recommendation possibly would be dont come and dont tell your friends...I want to know I can get a seat! It's that precious. Please treat is so, when you visit. A more romantic escape would be hard to find...simply gorgeous.

This is a smart little cafe in a great location with a decent range of food and drink. However on my last visit with family, I ended up with a mouth full of gravel biting into my food. Unfortunately the staff's only answer was that they don't make any of the products there themselves so it must have happened where it was made. They at least replaced the meal with a cheaper alternative, but it was embarrassing to still have to ask for them to refund the difference! I'm sure this was just an unfortunate incident for them, but better customer service is clearly needed!

Hollyhock Cafe is run by the same people who run the Tide Tables nearby on Richmond riverside so the menu is the same - an excellent selection of vegetarian snacks and lunches, salads, cakes and pastries but you can equally just enjoy a pot of tea or coffee. It's a lovely homely little place with great views over the river from the terrace tables but if it's cold the cozy interior provides a great place to recharge the batteries after a walk in Richmond Park. I often take friends there and they're enchanted as much by the cafe as they are by the squirrels and Terrace Gardens.

Stumbled across this excellent cafe whilst out walking by the Thames. We only went in to get out of the rain, but we're so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, good service, and good food and drink. Well worth stopping off even if it's only for a coffee.

The cafe is within the Terrace Gardens in Richmond, overlooking the Thames. The view of both the gardens and river is lovely and it is a great place to stop for a bite or even just a hot drink while walking the dog (dogs are very much welcome). Most of the seating is outside, but as it is undercover, and the view is best here, plus you can borrow blankets and hot water bottles, it really isn't a hardship. The food is entirely vegetarian or vegan and there is a good selection of savoury and sweet things e.g pies, flatbreads, quiche, salad, muffins and tray bakes. The food is tasty but a bit expensive for what it is. The staff are always friendly and welcoming though, and for a relaxing stop during a riverside walk you couldn't choose a better place.

It was the worst experience of my life. The food were tiny proportions and tasteless. The food and drink was grossly overpriced. The service was appalling. The servers looked underage and were extremely rude. We felt like garbage. I would never go back there again and highly recommend everyone should avoid these premises like the plague.
