Adesso in Richmond upon Thames

We had a disappointing meal here as my wife and I found that it was difficult to eat the food because the pasta was too hard. The fish sauce was in fact quite tasty. We mentioned this to the waiter who came back with the manager who seemed quite unapologetic and explained that it was 'al dente' and it was how it was served in Italy. We have been to Italy many times (in fact twice this year) and this was 'al dente' on a new level. After some discussion he took my plate back for extended cooking with the phrase that 'it would not taste the same'. I imagine it was put in a microwave for a few minutes as it was a tad softer and I found I could eat about half of it. All in all a lot of money for a poor experience.

Amazing food and service. Such a lovely menu and the food was so nice. Really enjoyed our meal, wine and the ambience. Staff very attentive as well.

It’s the second time I come to this place because I actually loved it on my first visit, however today I was extremely disappointed, we have to wait too long for our food, when we went to ask why was it taking over than 45 min to the person who seems to be the manager he was very rude he said he was too busy and questioning why were we in a rush. After that the came to apologise and he was very polite. Food was okay but terrible service.

A great neighborhood restaurant with great service and excellent food. Easy to reach as it's about 10 minutes' walk from the Richmond train station and there are closer bus stops. Try their pizza - it's the best in Richmond, seriously. #recommended

The pasta was cooked to al dente perfection, and the pizza was among the finest I’ve had in London. The bruschetta, arancino and affogato were equally impressive. Customer service is excellent. Very polite and helpful waiters. I highly recommend this Sicilian restaurant!!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Adesso Sicilia and was thoroughly impressed. Their pasta pomodoro was a standout dish, with perfectly al dente pasta and a delicious, flavorful sauce. The pizza Margherita was another highlight, easily one of the best pizzas I've had in London. The service was excellent, and the restaurant itself was beautifully clean and modern. Highly recommend!

Not too expensive but seemed like small portions, because I was still hungry afterwards. The staff were very welcoming and could tell what I needed just from eye contact without needing to come over every time!

I can recommend the hot chocolate on an autumnal afternoon in August! It's liquid chocolate to be consumed with a spoon! Divine.

We went to Adesso Sicilia, a late discovery for us on a previous visit to Richmond, for our 55th Wedding Anniversary lunch. We were not disappointed this is genuine Sicilian cooking. We were met and greeted and were recognized by the Polish lady from a previous visit to the shop and to have a granita. We ate Rigatoni Siciliana and Etna which were both al dente and tasty. We also had caponatina as a starter which was a bit disappointing in that it was more potato than eggplant, peppers and olives! I wonder if this was a regional recipe that I had not come across rather than the traditional caponata recipe? We drank a glass of the house red and white which were acceptable. The chef very kindly prepared a sweet for us to celebrate our anniversary as per the attached photo. He also came out of the kitchen to meet and greet us and congratulate us. We will not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends and will return on another occasion. We met a couple there who were about to celebrate 63 years of marriage!

Friendly, reasonable cost and authentic

Fantastic evening spent here with old friends last night. Great setting reminded me of a family resturant in Bologna. Lovely food and a highly recommended Nonna's pie for desert. They also have San Pelligrino Chino which is a huge plus!

Have walked past this place a million times without going and thank goodness we finally did. What a brilliant restaurant. Incredibly well priced and the Pizza’s we had were absolutely delicious. Can’t recommend Adesso enough. 2 large pizza’s with custom toppings and two large glasses of wine for £40!

Here is the basic rule about eating in this excellent restaurant; every time we go Italians are eating there. We have tried two other nearby Italian restaurants but Adesso is far better.

I explained that my partner was waiting for her coffee, and I was just waiting for her, but I was told I could not sit for takeaways and was insisted upon leaving. The place was completely empty, and I had just sat for less than a minute. His behaviour was completely unnecessary and disrespectful.

You have to come here. The quality of the food use comes through in the food on the plate....,the taste is amazing! I had the Sicilian omelette and wasn't sure as it also had cheese so thought it could be salty, but it wasn't. It is perfect. The service is good. The quality is good. The taste is good. The restaurant is good. I will return and have brunch or an evening meal here with friends and/or family.

Adesso never fails to impress, and today was no exception. We visited as a family and were once again delighted by the exceptional culinary experience. The grilled prawns were perfectly seasoned and succulent, the calamari was crisp and tender, and the seafood risotto was rich and flavorful—each dish truly to die for. Despite the rain in London, dining at Adesso made us feel as though we were transported to the sunny shores of Sicily. The ambiance, service, and quality of food consistently create an unforgettable dining experience. Whether for a special occasion or a casual meal, Adesso remains our go-to restaurant. We had an amazing experience at this authentic Italian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the four of us felt like royalty. The customer service is fantastic, and the food is delicious. The owner is a charming gentleman who personally engages with customers, making everyone feel like family. We couldn't find a single fault with the place. The restaurant prides itself on using the finest ingredients. The wine selection was excellent, and the calamari, pasta, and pizza were outstanding. I highly recommend trying the homemade dessert. First visit to this family run local Sicilian restaurant. It was excellent. Lovely service and great menu. And service change NOT automatically included so that was a real bonus to actually get discretion on a discretionary charge. Will be back. Dog friendly too.

I hadn't been for a few years and was very disappointed. The food was uninspired and the staff were often surly. Poor acoustics made it very noisy. Not as I remembered it.

I visited on a Saturday evening with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. The food was fantastic. I had very happy memories of the parmigiana from years ago and it didn't disappoint. It was also good value. It was a brilliant evening with attentive staff. Highly recommend.

My wife and myself - together with my brother and a visiting niece from California - were in Richmond this afternoon and stopped off at Adesso Sicilia on Richmond Hill for coffees and deserts. It was our first visit and we received a very warm welcome from the Manager/Qwner.. Our orders were then promptly taken and we all much enjoyed both our Cappuccinos/Lattes as well as the deserts so much so that this only whetted our appetites to return for lunch or dinner at a later date. Something I very much look forward to.

Fabulous dog friendly restaurant with delicious food and lovely friendly and accommodating staff. I visited with my fairly large dog and they were able to seat me in an area large enough for my dog not to get in the way. The food was amazing (chicken in breadcrumbs with rocket and parmesan and my friend had the spaghetti with Sicilian sausage and tomato sauce. He gave it a 9 out of 10. Dropped a point because he wanted even more! (it was a really good portion). Will definitely be back. Thank you Joanne for such good service.

Went for their rigatoni etna pasta which had sausage and courgettes, and washed it down with a house red. Friendly service and relaxed lunchtime atmosphere, but wasn’t blown away with the food.

Had a lovely evening with friends and delicious food. Warm welcome, nice table by the window. The seating is not close together and cramped like a lot of restaurants. Service was great and friendly, everything we had was freshly cooked and piping hot. Wine was very reasonably priced and good too. Portions large but delicious. Definitely be returning

I thought I’d discovered a hidden jewel.. reasonable price, authentic Italian food. HOWEVER.. as a competent cook I could have produced much better dishes at home. My starter of tomatoes and mozzarella was rubbish. Tomatoes hard, tasteless … mozzarella semi frozen… came with 2 bits of stale, supermarket bread. My main … sea food pasta… spaghetti not cooked… hard and tasteless.. “prawns” just defrosted, mussels few and tasteless, “clams”… a joke….. white wine sauce… thin and tasteless. I NEVER leave food in a restaurant but this was just so amateurish and bland I couldn’t be bothered with it. My 3 companions were equally disappointed with their choices. The waiter was abrupt and cloyingly false in his service. The only half decent thing was the £32 bottle of wine… which although overpriced was at least drinkable. I could have done far better in my own home… I cannot understand the good reviews if this is the standard to expect. Will NOT be returning…. very, very poor.

We had a lovely wander around Richmond one rainy Sunday and stumbled upon this quaint little restaurant. We shared a delicious and authentically Italian pizza as well as a pasta with a rich ragú. They run a lunch menu which has slightly smaller (and great value!) portions. Super authentic Italian dishes. We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place. Grazie!

I popped in to have a coffee at 8.30’one evening. The place was only a third full. The manager was rude to me and scoffed at my request for a coffee, saying “this is a restaurant’. His tone and stroppy approach towards me has ensured I will never go back there again.

We have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and have always ways enjoyed our meal and the ambience - even recommending to friends. Tonight was a different experience. Arrived to find the restaurant quite busy, were told to wait for a table by man in a sweater, as we hadn’t booked - fair enough. We asked about the table in the window which was empty to be told rather rudely that it was booked and we would be told where to sit. Took our seats at an empty table. Ordered. We were sharing a starter, I moved my wine glass to accommodate the board that the starter came on, it was promptly moved back by sweater man - I think that at 64 years of age I know where I want my wine glass to be, thank you. Two men were seated at the table next to us, were told they could not order immediately in a rude tone as they had a large party that they had to deal with first. When the waitress arrived to take their order one asked if Gnocchi was available to be told read the menu and he then berated the waitress who was taking their order. Sorry, but this did not make for a relaxing meal. Sweater man you need to learn some manners. You also need to know that loyal customers will not come back if you are rude to them - but I suspect you don’t care.

I have been going to Adesso for many years now and I've never been disappointed. The quality of the ingredients is excellent and the service is attentive. I particularly love the seafood and their pistacchio ice cream is amazing!

Four of us enjoyed a splendid lunch comprising lovely pasta accompanied by some red. Three selected tagliatelle dishes from the specials list, (two with mushrooms, one with chicken), while after a chat with a helpful and attentive waitress I followed my inclination to go for the Linguine al Granchio (crab) on the main lunch menu. All were abso-b*****-lutely delicious. Best pasta since my favourite Italian deli sadly closed in Kingston a couple of years back. (The owner’s retirement cruelly coinciding closely with my own).

We came for my daughter’s 7th birthday and had a wonderful experience. It was quiet as it was a Sunday night so we had a lovely booth at the back that was perfect for 6 people. Simple but attractive decor. The wait staff were absolutely lovely, gave special attention to the birthday girl, insisted on allowing us to try multiple wines before selecting a bottle and let my eldest test out her Italian by finding a member of staff who spoke the language to take our order. They sang happy birthday when they brought out the dessert and chatted with us very pleasantly. The tiramisu was apparently a house special, with the recipe coming from a member of the team. Overall, the service was exceptional, the food lovely and the atmosphere gentle but friendly. We would absolutely come here again. The only thing we would recommend would be some coat hooks! Thanks to the Adesso team for a superb evening!

This was my first time here and won't be my last. The food was gorgeous, the staff were so polite and charming, the atmosphere was cosy and they even noticed it was my daughters birthday and came out with a lemon cheesecake and candle and sang happy birthday. So kind. Thank you so much.

Wouldn’t recommend. At least 10 tables were free and staff is telling me there’s no booking left available. Absolute joke! Tables were empty all around.

Went for a quick lunch recently, had a few starters - meatballs were dry and felt like they were a few days old. Mozzarella di buffalo - it was chewy and again dry mozzarella (definitely not buffalo), the one I buy from Tesco is better tasting. King prawns were nice - 3 pieces and one empty shell were served, so felt that at £15 I overpaid. Overall the food tasted very underwhelming, I expected much better, having just spent a month in Sicily.

Very bad food. Anybody who's eaten in Italy can tell you this food is not authentic tasting and the sauces are weak and lacking flavour. Atmosphere and service were decent, but the weak food really let's the place down unfortunately.

We went to Adesso as three adults and a toddler, the toddler was having a meltdown so I took him out of the restaurant until he'd calmed down, they were so patient and we never felt rushed or embarrassed. Once in, the food was delicious and every single member of staff was friendly and helpful. Even the house dry white wine was great which doesn't happen often! I will certainly be back, a great spot.

Authentic Sicilian, friendly service, good hearty, tasty food. Myself and wife had pasta dish, desert, cafe, aperitif Sunday lunchtime. I write this review in Sep 23, though we last visited Oct 22, was searching restaurants and forgot about this Sicilian gem, deserves a great review. When coming back from our Mediterranean summer holiday you forget that most restaurants in London are chains or even some small chains, it's so disappointing, but with an independent family restaurant like in the Mediterranean there is more passion, friendliness and favour. Highly recommended.

This restaurant left us with mixed feelings. It was just adequate. There is a good variety of dishes for vegeterians and meat eaters, but the pasta dishes that we tried were nothing to write home about. Pasta was on the very al dente side (stuck on our stomach like brick). The meatballs were nice and soft, but, again, nothing special. The desserts were just ok as well. The place is kind of old-fashioned in decor, but it is cozy, and the tables are not very close to each other.

This is one of the best restaurants in Richmond, not only is the Sicilian food the best I’ve ever tasted, but the manger and staff are so helpful and friendly with excellent service. The food is fresh & the pasta perfectly cooked. Wonderful choice of staters, mains and desserts, lovely Prosecco and wine list. Do check out the specials on a separate little menu as they are always so good. I live locally and have used Adesso many times , introduced friends near and far, all have loved their dining experience at this great independent restaurant.

Nice place for a good dinner. Staff is not very attentive unfortunately. Tried to put me in a crowded and very hot space, when there were more options available, then offered the table near a very loud and smoking group of people. Nevertheless, good place to have an informal dinner. Won’t go for a date here or anything demanding. Just dinner when you don’t want to cook at home. Then all is good.

Below average food, toilet next to kitchen, waiters in a hurry, had to go into the restaurant to call waiters whenever we needed anything. Waitress chatting to her friend while standing next to us which was annoying. We left without ordering for everyone and they did not even ask why. Shame as location is great and interior is v nice.

Went here early one evening with the family including 2y/o. Very welcoming. Provided wooden high chair. Friendly service with an extensive and interesting menu. Prices are what you would pay in an upmarket pub but the food is well cooked and authentic, with many dishes...

So we booked here as we had spotted it a few times and thought it looks pretty authentic. It really has really nice feeling decor which is inviting. That is where the compliments end… We were first served by an Indian girl, who was nice...

THE BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT IVE BEEN! Came here on the weekend for dinner, got the 🍝Siciliana Pasta🍝it was incredible! Very light & Very filling and Cannoli for dessert also very delicious! Staff was also very kind and have amazing recommendations !!
