Can’t speak for the rest of the week or menu but the Sunday roast have had twice now and it’s excellent

We were impressed by the tasty lunch menu and returned to try other dishes.The confit of duck was tasty as was the sea trout with seafood risotto.The risotto had quite a lot of chilli which I didn't feel was helpful to the subtle flavour of the sea bass but it was all cooked well.We both had the steak and ale pie in our second visit,which was good.Even the accompanying kale tasted o.k.The treacle sponge pudding was light and white chocolate and cranberry Blondie with ice cream hit the spot.Staff were friendly and accommodating .

The interior of the pub is really modern and charming and I like that you can see the goings on of the kitchen, it boasts canteen vibes.The menu was quite limited and there wasn't much choice so I went with the staple choice of the burger. It was a good burger and I was impressed with the fries portion!Our waiter was nice and friendly and the service was good. Maybe the food was a little overpriced though.

Visité con amigos para el asado del domingo. Reservé una mesa con anticipación. Teníamos 1 ternera, 1 jamón y 1 vegano (el menú solo mostraba vegetariano, pero lo hicieron vegano a pedido, sin problemas). Tuve el jamón y puedo decir que estaba delicioso. Cheesecake se veía increíble y fue bien recibido por mis amigos. Excelente servicio, agua para el cachorro y buena cerveza y sidra. Irá de nuevo :)

Absolutamente consternado con nuestra experiencia en el pub The holly bush. Viviendo a solo un minuto a pie del pub, es el local perfecto para visitar, pero después de hoy no volveremos.Entramos y nos habló abruptamente un hombre con una sudadera con capucha de vellón que pensamos que en realidad era un cliente por su elección de ropa (para alguien que trabaja en el frente de la casa, uno pensaría que estaría un poco más levantado juntos). Este es un buen pub con mucho espacio al aire libre. Probamos la comida allí y quedamos muy decepcionados. Las hamburguesas (tanto de pollo como de ternera) estaban demasiado cocidas y había mucha pasta en el pescado. Cuando paga 15 por comida, se siente un poco decepcionante. ¡Tampoco sé por qué anuncian la ensalada de col como parte de las hamburguesas cuando no obtienes más que una guarnición!

Visité anoche y necesito expresar mi decepción por los nuevos arreglos implementados. Este es el segundo pub que he visitado en la última semana, el primero es un Marstons. Allí encontré algunas pantallas de metacrilato alrededor del bar, pero aún se podía pedir desde allí y pagar en efectivo. Aquí tuve que hacer el pedido desde mi teléfono y solo pagar con tarjeta. Esto llevó mucho tiempo y todas las conversaciones cesaron durante casi 15 minutos mientras navegábamos por el proceso y pagábamos. Para un gastropub con servicio de camarero, la comida tenía un precio correcto, pero ahora es de autoservicio, la relación calidad-precio es mala.

Terrible service, decent food. We arrived and one lady was seating a short queue while 3 other staff stood around looking lost, we then had to wait around 15 mins to order drinks so ordered food at the same time. The food came out quickly but after we finished it took over 30 mins for plates to be cleared and desserts to be offered, nobody asked if food was ok.Overall decent food terrible service.

We went to the hollybush on the 21/2/2000 for a meal. The pub was packed but our table was ready on time at 1900 our menus were on the table and by 1930 the food was on the table five of the six opted for fish and one opted for chicken supreme, the potions were large and beautifully cooked. We then opted for dessert at no time did we feel rushed three ordered the sticky toffee pudding and asked for custard instead of the ice cream that the menu stated no trouble at all. All in all the meal was excellent and the service first class.

Amazing food, excellent service. We are regulars at the Hollybush and love everything that the hollybush has to offer. Food, drink, customer service and atmosphere all second to none. Nothing is too much trouble.

I am a regular for Sunday lunch at The Hollybush but am now looking for a alternative option after our recent visit. The portion of meat was very much on the small side and the roast potatoes were bordering on inedible as they were so dry which is surprising as we ate just after they started serving food.Things will need to improve before we will return as all of our group thought the food was underwhelming.

We love the Hollybush, its warm, welcoming, amazing staff, wonderful food. Well, they have surpassed themselves with the recent veggie addition to their menu. I chose oven roasted cauliflower steak with mushrooms, baked tomato, salad and chips. Oh my goodness it was so flavoursome and absolutely delicious. My husband had the fish and chips which never fails, you cant go wrong with that dish. Its always a winner. Manager recommended a red wine for me which was wonderful. Fab night as always. We recently visited for a Sunday roast and enjoyed it very much. The service was quick and friendly, the food arrived very quickly, was of good quality, and was reasonably priced. The atmosphere was great, although the music was a little loud initially (we were sat right next to the speaker to be fair), and there was a nice selection of beers too. All in all, we'll no doubt be back in future.

We found the staff friendly and good quick service. I had the chicken supreme, this was very good - moist chicken, tasty sauce, liked the sweetcorn fritter and fondant potato, sprouting broccili nice too. My husband had ham, egg and chips. Two eggs, huge slice of lovely ham and well cooked chips.We shared a dessert - the chocolate truffles with salted caramel icecream and popcorn. The truffles were very rich so we were glad we had shared, really nice dessert.We enjoyed our evening and would happily return.

Arrived for our 7 clock booking and seen straight to our table. Table was ready but only two place settings when it was a table for three. Ordered three drinks when arrived the waitress dropped accidentally the whole tray of drinks over one of the party. Mess cleaned up quickly but no apology from the waitress only the girl that came to clear up the mess. Food was excellent and so was desserts. When bill arrived we had been charged for the drinks and had to say about it. No good will gesture was given bearing in mind one of the party got soaked. It took us to mention it first! We felt rushed to leave the table as I guess they wanted to clear the restaurant area. Food was lovely but that would not draw us back again because of the experience we had.

Visited with my family as a party of 4 including 2 kids. Excellent food, prompt and friendly service, and fair pricing for the high standard of meals. The fish the adults had was beautifully cooked, my son said the burger is the best he has ever had, and my daughter wanted to return the following day for Sunday roast! Best eating pub between Bristol and Chippenham by a country. Will be back soon...

Six of us ate at this venue last Monday evening, good service, very nice food and a great atmosphere (it was Quiz night and we are quizzers). My steak was perfectly cooked and the best I've had for a long time. All the other meal were of a high standard - all empty plates. Would definitely go back again.

Always have great meals at the Hollybush. Had an issue with my meal the other day- pork belly was undercooked for my liking and no soggy skin (no crackling), so mentioned it to the manager who came over to see how our meal was and he took it back, allowing me to eat the veggies and offered me another meal. When it came to the bill, it wasn't on there, and when we told them we were adamant we were paying for it, he refused to let us. Such amazing customer service and we will be back again as we just love it here.

Came here with a few friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. Drinks arrived promptly. Food orders taken quickly too. We ordered four sandwiches and one small fish and chips. The sandwiches took a fairly long time to arrive but we weren’t too bothered. However when they did arrive it was clear the fish and chips would not be coming out at the same time. They finally arrived around 15mins later.

initially the sun was shinning and it was a beautiful day. We arrived quite late for dinner it was 4.50 pm and dinner stopped at 6.00pm.

What a great pub. Waitress' are lovely and friendly, food is gorgeous (although a little expensive for my taste) and they have a great quiz every Monday! This has been my local for many years but since moving further afield don't get to visit as often as i like!

Great place. Great food and drink quality. Only let down the clientele that are here, there was a group of middle aged men in the garden and one clearly being rude to whoever sat near that, and the staff walked by and almost encouraged the guy, greeting him whilst he was rude to others, his friends sniggered whilst this happened. X3 staff seen this and didn’t say a word. Pretty poor if you ask me. It’s the only putt off clearly the staff knew the man so he’s obviously there often, which completely put us off. This is a shame because it’s a great spot.

Visited on Friday 11am prompt for tea and cake with friends. We received a warm welcome as always. Cake of the day was carrot and it was absolutely delicious. We sat outside in the garden, the planters are in full bloom and everything is well cared for, clean. It was such a pretty setting. Our server was, as always, happy, smiley and friendly. She brought out our tea/lattes and cake. We had such a lovely time. Thank you x

Really lovely pub and restaurant. Quite a surprise once inside as it is much bigger than it looks on the outside. Had a wonderful Sunday Lunch which is recommended. A bit on the pricey side, but for a treat really worth it.

The pub itself has nice seating area both inside and out with a lovely atmosphere however since the last visit the food is really not great for the money you pay, the service is slow and no real personality is shown when serving drinks / food. Sunday lunch is very poor with portion sizes small, roast potatoes hard however the Yorkshire puddings are very nice and massive. Would not return for food however would for a relaxing drink in the sun. Nice selection of wines on offer.

We ate here on a Friday lunchtime, a decent choice of ales and lagers and a varied menu, I opted for fish and chips and putting it bluntly it was bloody superb excellent quality fish a crisp batter, and thick cut chips finished of with minted peas, my son had lamb rump again excellent quality and well presented, don’t expect cheap but you do get cracking food

On the off chance we popped in for lunch Staff very friendly and very helpful and enjoyed a cheeseburger meal that was reasonably priced and tasted very good Good value and will definitely re visit Thank you

Hemos estado cenando las últimas dos noches, la comida era realmente buena y las raciones eran de buen tamaño. El servicio fue excelente en las dos noches, aunque el restaurante estaba lleno. Durante las dos noches tuvimos pescado y papas fritas, costillas de res y panceta de cerdo cada comida fue excelente.

Teníamos el plato de kofta de cordero con hummus hecho en casa, el tamaño de la porción era bueno, pero el hummus era tan suave que no lo hacían si se perdían algunos ingredientes al armarlo.

Good for drinks & food. A handy local pub that should be celebrated. A formal management presence and a few details on the food would secure 5 stars. Would like to score 4.5, but not an option.

Went to the Hollybush for Mother’s Day lunch as someone recommended it and I must say it was very good staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food was very good . Would recommend having a Sunday roast here .

Just got back from lunch at the Hollybush and I have to say it was horrendous ... from the food to the service. My husband’s beef was so rare we thought it was going to walk off the plate. Veg dried up and tough. Ordered desserts and they didn’t arrive so after 40 mins of waiting I asked the waiter who pulled our order from his pocket and had actually forgot to order it. We heard lots of complaints from other customers as well. The bill came and my husband by now was fuming as we had the children and grandchildren with us. He complained to the manager who took 20% off the total bill. Safe to say we won’t be returning to the Hollybush again.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast here, and the best ever puddings - white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were both to die for. The staff were super friendly so all in all a great restaurant.

We went here last Saturday night and had a good time. The place was packed out, but the service was good. The food prices were reasonable. We would go back.

We came as a group of 17 for my mums 70th birthday - the food was brilliant and the staff were brilliant and so friendly - they couldn’t have done more for us. Would highly recommend

Came here today for the first time, service was good and the roast was amazing - couldn’t fault it. Will definitely be coming back. Only thing is maybe let people know the sticky toffee pudding has some sort of fruit/currants in

The food in this place was incredible and the the pub / restaurant itself looks really nice and modern! I’ll be visiting this place again!

We had steak with pepper corn sauce which was cooked perfectly. They also had a a large range of Gins which is our new thing. Staff were very polite especially the lovely girl from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺

Stopped for lunch after a long walk and very glad I booked a table as it was pretty busy but only mid week.

We had a Sunday lunch here today we live local but have never eaten here, never again it was superb 3 of us booked in and we sat next to the cooking area seeing is believing no one put a foot wrong yet they were all flat out serving meals and drinks. 5is is a must meal and we will be returning again knowing we will enjoy not only the food but the drinks and staff were second to none. We had a Christmas meal here for 17 people recently, and it was fantastic. The pub was very busy (a good sign), being so close to the Christmas break, but the pub had been staffed to cope with the expected visitors. Our pre-ordered food arrived very efficiently, delivered by a team of waitresses. It takes quite a few hands to bring out 17 meals at once! Some establishments use the large number of diners in a party to let the quality slip. Not here! Congratulations to the chefs who produced 3 excellent courses. The smiling and helpful bar staff and waitresses made it a lovely atmosphere. I would recommend it without hesitation.

From start to finish we were looked after extremely well. Four of our friends were new to this Pub, it will not be their last visit. Christmas meals have a reputation for being not very good, NOT this one. Everything was delicious, our compliments to everyone in the kitchen.

Had a lovely lunch here with family. Good to have the choice of small or large portions on the mains, particularly as that left room for dessert. We all had the fish and chips, lovely bit of fish and very chunky chips with smashed peas, tartare and curry sauce. And cheesecake with ice cream was delicious. So good in fact, we booked our next visit in. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Well everyone has the burger or the fish and chips as they are the cheapest (£13!) dishes. The burger is more expensive than a couple of months ago and the onion ring has disappeared off the top. It was nice despite the limp, white chips. Glad I didn’t have the tiny bowls of vegetarian pasta (£13.50!) as those who did, were starving! Had a go at a pudding- yuck! Lump of tasteless, claggy cheesecake which had stuff in it not listed on the menu, which I’m allergic to so that got swiftly returned. I like this place - apart from it being boiling - but I like the interior a lot more than the food which is unreasonably priced on a very dull, unvaried and pompous sounding menu. I’m sure they can do better than this or at least work out what they are trying to achieve as it all feels like a bit of a money making scheme lacking in soul at the moment.

Visited a couple of nights ago, Top meal, seasonal, good quality cooking. Good atmosphere, good wines, pay for what you get.

My husband and I enjoyed a thoroughly delicious meal at The Hollybush last night. All the serving staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the restaurant had a lovely ambiance. The food was served quickly and we were really impressed by the portion sizes and the quality. The sourdough was freshly baked and perfect. The chips were beautifully cooked. We will definitely be going back.

Fui aquí con mi pareja para una cena. El lugar estaba limpio y la camarera que teníamos era preciosa, pero lamentablemente la comida era bastante cara para la calidad. Really nice place, nice atmosphere. We had a nice table with kitchen views as the kitchen is open. We really enjoyed the duck, amazing flavours... a little bit overdone for my taste and the knife wasn't meat knife so it was hard to cut it.

We were staying locally so ate twice on a recommendation. The first time was very good food and service was also good. However we went again last Friday when it was very busy and were not happy with having to wait an hour for our mains despite going in early. The food was excellent when it arrived but the service spoiled our enjoyment this time. Would go again but on a quieter evening or perhaps for lunch.

Me and my partner visited the Hollybush on a Friday night as a celebration meal and we had a lovely evening. We were seated straight away and the staff were very attentive, asking us regularly if we had everything we need/wanted more drinks/bread whilst we waited for our starters etc.

Third visit in last six weeks and the most disappointing, food was not of usual standard we have grown to expect, Barnsley Lamb Chop was very fatty and with a big bone, I have had this before and never had a issue. Staff not as attentive and did not do check back until we had nearly finished. The mixed veg was very wet and had not been drained correctly, the service was also slow,,

We visited The Hollybush last night for my Son's 18th birthday celebration family meal. I cannot praise it highly enough. This was a meal for 18 people, you would expect at least a couple of little hiccups with so many individual needs to cater for at a single sitting. But No. The whole evening was absolutely perfect, every meal arrived exactly as ordered and the food was stunning. We had a little roped off area in the main pub which we were allowed to decorate before hand, as it was a surprise meal. The staff were so helpful and friendly, which all meant my Son had a night to remember. I would highly recommend The Hollybush. Excellent food,staff and location. Will definitely be visiting again very soon.

I went to The Hollybush on my 18th birthday and was surprised with all of my family being there (18 people). From what I was told, communication between my dad and the pub was fantastic for months all the way up until the day. When we were there nothing went wrong at all, every meal was correct and all the staff were very friendly. My meal was extremely good and so it seemed so was everyone else's. Fantastic end to my birthday.

Given the unsatisfactory meals offered in many local restaurants/ public houses, the Holly Bush impressed. Excellent food: good service (albeit a tad slow: probably due to its popularity). Full marks to the Holly Bush's chefs and waitresses/ waiters.

Quello che però ci hanno portato era buono, il servizio cortese. Altro problema che di due carte di credito che avevo una non era accettata e una non ha funzionato nonostante l'avessi usata il giorno stesso. Ho pagato contanti ma è rimasto questo piccolo neo.

Visited with my wife whilst travelling back to Bristol and looking for some pub grub instead of cooking ourselves.

Cut out the fancy menu and just tell it like it is. We both had lamb chop for a main and it was so covered in balsamic vinegar the poor lamb died for nothing as you couldn't tase it. It was over cooked and as for 'lamb' it must have been a big baby. I specifically asked if it was a leg of lamb chop only to be served backbone. As I right this i gave no taste of the lamb, potatoes or carrots just the lingering balsamic even after trying to wash the taste away with my Guinness. The starter was nothing special either as the promused Oili was missing and meeting with garlic during the process. We await our sweet dishes with apprehension as they have already told us the pistachio ice cream is finished sbd being substituted with...... vanilla, oh joy.

Lovely meal our local inn standards always superb!! Only issue very very busy and just the 2 of us kid free evening and sadly sat by 3 very very loud ( the whole dining area could hear them) couples fellow diners were looking we actually couldn’t hear to talk appreciate very busy / we booked late but perhaps sitting groups of 2’s and 4’s together and bigger parties together would be more appropriate. Food here is fabulous and service too.

Came here on a walk from the Avon Valley railway and it was a welcome beacon at the end of a walk with small children. We sat in the garden which is sort of in the car park but still nicely situated and a sun trap.

This is our 4th maybe 5th time eating here. Its a lovely pub with a fantastic selection of gins,ales,cocktails etc. The staff are all lovely,polite and friendly. The food is great but sadly each and every time we are left frustrated by the length of time it takes to actually get your food. Today was a prime example, we ordered our food and over a hour later still no food. Don’t get me wrong when it arrived it was lovely but over a hour for fish &chips; seems a bit long to me. When we have gone in a larger group of 7/8 on a Saturday evening the wait is even longer. Again over a hour between starter to main. As I stated earlier this is our only gripe with otherwise a lovely pub with great food and staff. Please just employ a few more of them

Visited here with friends on recommendation from a family member as being really nice a la carte food. It’s a nice ish pub but very expensive food, felt more like a drinkers pub than a Castro pub. Food nice but not cheap, service slow at end to get and pay bill and we waited over half an hour for starters to come out.

Enjoyed several evenings here, as well as a very good Sunday lunch (which was served until 6pm) as we were staying close by so it was great to have such a nice pub with good beer and food without having to go far. The service was very good also.

welcoming staff, busy but efficient, it has a good menu selection good location on the out skirts of Bristol, not to far off of the main routes if passing through and need to stop for food, it also has good off street parking

I can not recommend The Hollie Bush restaurant enough, my husband and I had a delicious meal. I would particularly recommend the fillet steak.

Visited on Friday 29th June and had a great meal. Arrived early got a drink and sat outside in our favourite sun trap. Ventured inside for our booked table and selected our starter, the Scotch Egg. Really tasty and not the first time we have had them. Our main courses were also excellent. Mine being the Steak with proper chips and the Chicken with Mozzarella that my wife had. Spoilt ourselves with dessert, again scrumptious. Would always recommend it here, but know everyone has different tastes, suits us grand.

Came here with my partner for the second time a couple of days ago. Fantastic atmosphere and lovely in this weather...but the main thing to write home about was the burger I had with handmade chips - wow! And with it being so reasonably priced too there is no reason not to go.

Called in whilst returning home from Bristol , had heard good things about this pub. Staff were attentive and very friendly , and food arrived quite promptly. We had fish and chips , a large piece of fish and some hefty looking chips , with minted mushy peas. Would have been a nice meal apart from the fact all four of us had bones in our fish , which was very off putting. You would maybe expect one of the four portions to have had a bone or two , but all four !!. It was a shame , as could have been an enjoyable meal.

I wanted to take my Father out for a roast lunch for Father’s Day and having read the reviews felt lucky when I was able to book a table. The staff were delightful and very prompt but the food very disappointing, the beef although was supposed to have been cooked for 24 hours was chewy, the roast potatoes looked more like boiled potatoes and the whole dish was lukewarm, the veg were cooked well and a lovely selection and the cauliflower cheese was delicious and actually hot. I was asked by waitress if everything was ok so I appreciate that I could have said something but I didn’t want to make a fuss and upset my 96 year old Father.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch for 3 about a week in advance as we were told we may not get a table otherwise. The food was absolutely outstanding, especially the cauliflower cheese! All our questions were answered about the dishes and the lemon posset was by far the best dessert, do not miss!

My wife and I stopped in while on our honeymoon and had a great meal. The bartender answered all of our questions about local spirits and gave us great suggestions, and the food was phenomenal. Everyone there was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this pub and hope to make it back someday.

We popped in for a mid week lunch, as we have been here before, and once again it lived up to expectations, I had Black Pudding Scotch Egg to start, which was very good, and followed with a small Ham, Egg and Chips, which for me was perfect, the Ham is perfect , the Chips are the best in the area, and the egg tasty ( which you cant say about many eggs ), my partner had the Soup to start, which she said was very tasty, and the large Ham Egg and Chips, which I could never have eaten, for pudding, I had Stick Toffee Pudding, and my partner had the Apple Crumble, both of which were excellent..The beer was good, the Gin of the week even better, and the staff, very good , friendly and attentive, what more can you ask.. I would recommend a visit to everyone..

Really enjoyed our first family visit here today. We were sat near to the kitchen so had a great view of the meals being created & served. The quality of all the food was excellent and really well presented. The service warm, friendly and unfussy....

Well what can I say! Service with a smile lovely setting on a Sunday afternoon me and my family decided to come here last minute and thank god we did!Me and my partner had the lamb shoulder roast dinner which literally melts in your mouth accompanied with roasted carrots and parsnip and potatoes with curly Kale and red cabbage and of course gravy served with a giant Yorkshire pudding! We cleared our plates! Will definitely be coming again thank you!

Went for Sunday lunch and it was sheer perfection! Very friendly helpful staff. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. I had rolled pork with apricot and sage stuffing, my sister had chicken....all served with a huge Yorkshire pudding and fresh vegetables. We were able to see the food being cooked and each portion of veg was was cooked to order, not all done and kept warm for hours on end. The desserts were large portions which left us thankful that we hadn't had a starter! We are returning again this weekend and will certainly use it again and each time I have visitors....highly recommended for families and any occasion.

Visited on a Tuesday evening with a friend. It was busy but not crowded. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and we weren't rushed. I would thoroughly recommend it.

We booked a meal for 5 at The Hollybush to celebrate my friends birthday. We had been told that the pub had been renovated and the food was excellent. I can only say it was a big disappointment. The food was ok. Nothing really wrong with it but pretty tasteless. Definitely wouldn’t hurry back.
