For my starter I had mushroom soup which was delicious and my main was the braised beef with vegetable, creamy mash and red wine gravy,it was one of the nicest meals I've had for a long time

Dinner, excellent service, meals very slow coming out of the kitchen, nearly 1hour for the starter an another hour for the main course. Dining room not especially busy. Room large enough, new bathroom let down by old marked bedside tables. Good offer from wowcher included bottle of wine and two courses for dinner. Bit of a trek to the room as lift inoperative.

Very disappointing visit. They were advertising a deal for Sunday dinner. I had thought it was £25 each which for a a good Sunday dinner and a bottle of wine a not bad. Thank goodness I got it wrong and it was a £25 deal for a couple. They were promoting their Sunday dinner. With that in mind then you would make sure it was good so to entice people to review and come back and tell their friends. The bar staff he was very unenthusiastic, we had to make three choices to get a bottle beer that they had in stock. The food arrived and I can say it was probably the worst Sunday dinner I’ve had. The gravy was like coloured water. The stuffing was like a bullet that was inedible. The vegetables were cut up so small I couldn’t even tell what they were. The plate was filled with warmed up roast potatoes. The beef was overcooked and tasteless. The only bonus was the cook could make Yorkshires. Definitely not one to return to. Just opened the bottle of wine as we bought it home because the barman was too busy to bring it over. It’s like vinegar.

Went to hollin house for afternoon tea, booked over the phone beforehand. When we arrived the hotel looks lovely, then inside again looks great, beautiful entrance and staricase, all tastefully decorated. We were seated and ordered afternoon tea, the food arrived and unfortunately was not of good standard, I've had lots of afternoon teas and this was mediocre at best, the sandwiches were very cold and didn't taste fresh, the victoria sponge had been in the fridge and was very cold and hard but was edible, the scones were completely inedible - stale and hard. Very disappointed as we were visiting for our anniversary after getting married at hollin house 10 years ago.

Terrible place for what it is, rooms very basic, bathroom- shower curtain mouldy, no toilet paper holder. Breakfast- tea and coffee from flasks, no option to choose your tea. Staff rude. Bread at breakfast was mouldy, the staff member only removed one slice from the tray, only later, when other people complained, removed all the bread from the stack.

Shabby, tired and run down. Awful service. Stayed for four nights in a suite and the room wasn't once cleaned, almost had to beg for clean towels.

Rooms were not very clean, had to be moved from our first room because it was dirty. Could be a very nice hotel, but it could do with a fresh coat of paint, and there were cobwebs in every light shade. Breakfast was cold the first day, which even being on a hot plate, it wasnt very appetising. Second days breakfast was better as it was done to order.

Excellent place to stay in a classic vintage style (1846 built) , all the staff was very helpful and smiling faces, infect they gave me an early check in also instead of a standard check in time , it was an experience to stay at this property , would love to comeback again

utterly disappointing to say the least☹️ when we first arrived we was not made aware of any changes regarding food/drinks and was told having dinner at 7pm was not possible as they were fully booked (this was not the case as we was still sat there) we got up to our room and as seen in the photos, we couldn’t see out of our window… (not that there was much of a view either..) other than that the room was lovely and bed was very comfy, but the walls are paper thin and alls we could hear was people banging and children running in the corridors. we then went down for our meal (the two courses deal is great), we were given a restricted menu of only three starters and three mains with no desserts on a piece of paper… (there were also no GF options, which isn’t a problem for us but as a waitress myself i know this can be the case for many) we were confused as we were not told anything about this, we was also expecting a sunday lunch menu which wasn’t the case. we were then informed there would be no draft beer, except guinness which is a shocking £6.65??? there was also no diet pepsi/coke and only lemonade. wait time for food between each was at least 20 minutes, i had ordered the soup and had to wait for a different server to the one who served it to me for a spoon, which was at least 5 minutes. we had to ask for more drinks after ours being empty for half an hour and was not asked if we wanted new ones at all. no one asked if our food was okay till the very end either. we then were finally given a dessert menu, but once waiting ten mins to order we waited a further 25 minutes to receive it…. servers seemed more bothered about clearing tables and other things then actually serving and our quicker service of the night was asking if we wanted the bill, which we then had to go up to a server to pay for as no one came back. overall we would not come back again as everything was very underwhelming but a huge thank you to the night time male bartender on the 26/5 who was nothing but lovely and polite the whole time!☺️

We arrived and had to wait a long time to be seen to then even then it took a while for the receptionist to check us in. We were not once told of the many of things that were missing from the hotel. ALL of the draught beers were off and a lot of the bottles were sold out. The lovely bar man said it was because there was a problem with deliveries, however, we overheard on arrival then weren't selling them because they were saving it for the wedding the next day. We then got to the room and the room was so dark. It was only once we got further in and realised the window was that condensated in the middle of the double glazed that we actually couldn't see out of it. We went down for our evening meal and weren't given our preferential time because apparently it was fully booked. Even though, at this time there was 12 tables free. When we got the menu it was only 3 starters and 3 mains. NO DESSERTS. And NO EXPLANATION or apology. My partner would've had a main and desert because we were on the two course deal but had to settle for a below par tomato soup. They then had the cheek to bring a dessert menu after over hearing us complain. There was also no gluten free, vegan or vegetarian options. This is absolutely shocking and a complete money grabbing technique. The Guinness was £6.65 and the only thing on draught, safe to say that wasn't getting touched at that price. The back of the hotel is a state and looks like a set of Glasgow council flats. Even though the floor staff are kind and pleasant and out of their hands no explanation was given throughout our experience. No sorry , no complimentary food or drink or even a returns voucher. The waiteress I hope was new because she forgot to give my partner a spoon for her soup and myself parmesan cheese with my pasta. The photos couldn't be further from what's online, a COMPLETE SCAM.

Lovely external to hotel and nice outside sitting area. . Impressive entrance and staircase. Lovely lounges, dining and bar areas. Friendly staff. Limited, expensive menu however and extremely slow service in the restaurant for evening dinner. Great breakfast however, with friendly efficient staff. Overall very enjoyable stay and would come back. Great location - peaceful with view over fields

Stayed st Hollin House a few times when in the area for work. Fantastic views from the main entrance. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. Food in the restaurant is great, with high quality across all options. Cosy rooms but just starting to show their age. Overall I'd recommend and will be staying here again.

Not my best experience. Dirty floor, dirty walls, dirty shower. I have been here before and it was bad as well. I booked it again as the customer ask for me last minute and I couldn't find something else closer. The management has given up. They only do the basics. Restaurant experience also bad. Bad service, expensive and not many options. Stay away during the winter, the only heat is a small electrical heat.

45 minutes later than we were told we sti had no food. No working phone contact. No remedy via macclesfield eats app. It does eventually arrive, but after we ordered from another place. The "chicken breast" burger are reconstituted frozen chicken patties and the curly fries were luke warm rubbish.

The worst sausage roll ever. Something bright pink inside that bore no resemblance to sausage. It made me feel sick for most of the day. Overpriced and truly vile.

Super quick delivery, moved back after a couple of years away and it's still the best takeaway!

Used to be my go to Chinese until they added the minimum £15 charge to order and have it delivered plus the £2 delivery on top!
