Hole Foods Deli & Cafe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We visited this great bistro twice in the 4 nights we spent in Mousehole and both times were rewarded with a great evening meal. So friendly and for fish lovers was truly memorable. The sweetest scallops I have had and the fish curry was perfect as was the baked Alaska dessert. Would highly recommend this great place - thanks to all.

Some of the staff absolutely wonderful, however the with what i assume to be the boss, had been very disrespectful towards her staff and simply enough rude, i do not know how they kept quite and stand up for themselves. Along with this the head chef would waltz out with a glass of wine in his hand and just chat away. i have also heard then saying 5 second rule from the kitchen which has concerned me a bit. Other then this, staff are so friendly and have good humour, the layout is cosy and a pretty decent place, the young lady's that work downstairs are just wonderful, they have good conversation and make such amazing coffees.

We ate here two evenings during our holiday in Mousehole. Definitely the best place to eat in the town. It has a lovely atmosphere and a fantastic view over the harbour. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We were very well looked after by the lovely gentleman in charge and the chef came out to chat with us after our meal. The food is amazing. The mackerel was my favourite. The plaice was also cooked to perfection. We also called in for delicious coffee and cakes during the day. Highly recommend this lovely place. We’ll definitely return here.

Great location and a very well presented restaurant. Deli and coffee to go downstairs with a sit down dining experience upstairs. Fish was superb very light batter and delicious. Side items included peas with a hint of curry and homemade tartar sauce which was excellent. Place was very busy and still the service and food turn around was great! No long wait which l find a sign of good management.

We booked in for our first night in Mousehole, it was definitely our favourite meal of the whole holiday. As someone with a dairy allergy, the waitress was fantastic she asked the chef what dishes I could have and returned with which dishes could be made dairy free. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Cocktails were brilliant, service fantastic. We will be back next year. Thank you for a lovely dining experience.

Stopped off with the kids a few times over the week we were in the area. Lovely and fresh rolls albeit a tad on the dear side but I guess you get what you pay for. My son had a steak pasty and thought it was excellent. The staff could have been a bit more friendly and smiled but that was probably pressure of the moment with people waiting, but still, it would have been welcomed. Cracking location and worth a visit.

We went for the takeaways at £15 each. Unfortunately we found the fish really bland and very greasy while the chips were ok but again too greasy. The beef curry was very sweet almost to the point of being sickly. Also, the portions were on the small side and the kids were still hungry afterwards.

Very clean. Very friendly staff. Only had a coffee but it was very good and sensibly priced. Would definitely go here again.

This is a lovely restaurant overlooking the harbour in Mousehole. If you are lucky enough to get a window table the view is beautiful. It is a small restaurant and easily missed as it sits upstairs above the deli. It is worth finding though. The food is excellent. Plenty of fresh seafood and the menu appears to change daily. The red mullet was particularly delicious and the lobster, even better. I would also recommend the scallops starter. All the desserts were lovely, it is difficult to choose which one to order. There are meat and vegan options as well. Service is excellent. The wine list is very good and I would recommend the local sauvignon blanc from the Polgoon vineyard.

Lovely looking place to eat and drink staff were very good attentive. We had fish and chips which were not upto a good standard fish was so small and chip very scrappy .

Visited last night (without booking) having changed our plans - the welcome was warm and friendly, the cocktails delicious. Everything we ordered was perfect and reasonably priced. This is clever, interesting cooking supplemented by the fresh fish of the day (in our case, amazing lobster) and a thoughtful wine list. Plus beautiful views over Mousehole harbour!! I don’t understand why this restaurant isn’t famous.

We came across this cafe whilst walking the coast path so popped in for coffee and cake. Being gluten intolerant I was delighted to find not only all the cakes were gluten free but that they were actually a restaurant with a lovely menu, again almost all gluten free. So we booked a table for after our walk and returned to enjoy one of the best gluten free battered fish and chips I have had in ages. The staff were very friendly and helpful with table service even for just coffee. Prices were more than reasonable for what you got. To ice the cake the restaurant room upstairs also had lovely views of the harbour. A must visit for anyone visiting Mousehole!

We visited this lovely place last week on our visit to Mousehole .What a refreshing experience. We went in the door to find the ground floor space full not a problem we were taken upstairs to a beautiful room with a gorgeous view of the harbour, given menus and as I asked do we go downstairs to order the lovely lady serving said “ oh no this is a cafe I will serve you “ well I was shocked as these days most places are serve yourselves or use the app !! We all through caution to the wind and ordered some gorgeous choices of cake and various coffees including 2 baileys hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows really must be tried absolutely amazing best hit chocolate I’ve ever tasted (sometimes can be a little to sweet ) we were served by a lovely lady throughout the experience she really was so attentive to all her customers an absolute joy to visit this cafe . Only disappointed we were not staying closer so we could have had a return visit, we will be back next time we are down in Cornwall we come at least twice a year so I’ve got you on my list thank you for the experience

Decided to call in on the of.chance for Sunday lunch with a friend, we both ordered the Sunday roast and wow was it delicious and plenty amount. Service was just as good so overall we had a fantastic visit and look forward to returning.

'Fish Night' at Mousehole Kitchen. Wow, what an amazing evening! We got to enjoy a selection of fish plates that perfectly showcased the incredible produce Southwest Cornwall has to offer, everything was so tasty and each plate was so pretty, it was a feast for the eyes as much as the belly. The evening was part of the 'Meet the Suppliers' events hosted by Caleb & Terry, including a talk and Q&A from Jace Bowden of Kernow Fish Ltd. He spoke passionately about the importance of sustainability and traceability in fishing, it was really inspiring to hear from him. The food was incredible, every plate was perfectly cooked and expertly balanced, like something you would expect from a top London restaurant, my absolute favourite was the Hake with its crispy skin, carrot & Spinach Velouté and just the perfect amount of this ridiculous chorizo jammy stuff....oh my goodness! The Moule was a close second with this amazing delicate broth! All of this was paired with the most delicious Rose I have ever had. The knowledge these guys and their team have about each and every food and drink they offer is amazing, the quality is always spot on. We can't wait for our next meal there and will be keeping an eye out for the next event! If you're visiting Mousehole I definitely recommend a visit here, they also do cocktails in the evening and super delicious Sunday Roasts.....it's quite dangerous living round the corner! They also have a really good range of gluten free option and all their batter is gluten free as standard, a real treat! It really nice to go out and have options to chose from on menu when you have a restricted diet :)

Very mixed opinion of this place.... beautifully presented, and good service....BUT, and it's a big but, If you go, make sure you have very deep pockets. We had 3 x pasties, a glass of tap water and a cafe latte, ate in, and it cost £33.50. Yes, you read that correctly. A pasty is £10. This eclipses London prices, and the total was not far off the cost of the evening meal we had in one of Corwnall's finest hotels. Come on chaps, we all know times are tough, but you can only shaft somebody once.

We arrived at that awkward time: too late for lunch and too early for dinner. We asked if they were serving food and told most positively yes! We were shown to a table upstairs overlooking the harbour. The owner explained that although it was still early for dinner (about 4:45pm) the chefs were in and could provide anything off the lunch or evening menu. Before we even ordered we were offered water. Orders were placed for food and drink. Both were brought to the table promptly and politely. The service was excellent. Food well presented. And the price left room to enjoy a delicious dessert! Well done.

What a wonderful place to eat. We’ve been coming to Mousehole for many years but this is the first time we’ve eaten here! Attentive and friendly staff. Food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were great too. Cannot recommend enough.

Had a lovely late supper here on our night away in Mousehole. Both the food and the wine were simply lush! Great vibe and wonderful staff.

The food was delicious. A really good selection, including plenty of vegan/vegetarian options and the ability to adapt non-vegan items on the menu to suit our vegan guests. Not just 'can I have a vegan version of this dish please'. The waiting staff went to the kitchen then came back with 'would you like just the vegan version (eg just miss out the fish) or with this, or this, or a bit of both?'. 'Is liqueur coffee vegan?', 'not sure, I'll find out'... 'no, but we can froth the oat milk instead of cream'. (I tasted it, it was delicious) I had small plates one as starter and one as main, so had room for dessert too. Halloumi fries not at all greasy, could have managed a tiny bit more tzatziki and orange, only a tiny bit more though, like a teaspoon more tzatziki and one more piece of orange. Scallops were delicious. Panna cotta (and a cheeky espresso martini!) finished me off happily. My husband and our guests also enjoyed every dish they had, I didn't taste any of them but the patatas bravas they shared as an extra side seemed to go down particularly well. The staff were all great: efficient, friendly and super helpful, easy to catch someone's eye when we wanted something and always ready to answer any questions even though it was pretty busy. Visited recently had a latte and sausage roll £11.50. No garnish and not even warm, very overpriced £8 for a sausage roll!

This is an excellent place to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and dog friendly downstairs. The staff are extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food is excellent quality with a wide range of options. There is also the opportunity to purchase to take away. Just a great place to eat.

Great find - lovingly crafted food served in a relaxing and modern setting. A great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. The food was incredible - highly recommended the Thai monkfish curry and the rogan squash! Desserts were also amazing!

Popped in here as a couple with a dog for a spot of brunch. The staff were great and my wife felt safe with respect to gluten free ordering. We ordered a few dishes to share including the local fish based rarebit, mackerel and for me, a bit of hogs pudding, sadly not gluten free. The food was lovely and the service polite and welcoming. Definitely a place to visit when down that way. They also have loads of ice wine for sale - I as very tempted for the amarone but resisted the temptation. Thanks again

Purposely went on a day the weather was bad with the intention of having a long lunch. That is exactly what we got. Service was superb with great advice from staff who really knew their subject. It is quite a small, cosy restaurant, clean and attractively decorated. We had a window table and could watch the weather doing its worst outside. The food was perfect. The menu, rightly, concentrates on local produce and even tells you which boat has caught your seafood. I had lobster and chips, the lobster was perfectly cooked, tender and fresh. The salad dressings were excellent and everything was attractively presented. This was a great meal.
