I don’t often visit Nailsworth but we were here on holiday and I was keen to visit what had always been one of my favourite bakeries. I came today for coffee and cake with my mother and having ordered two coffees and cake to eat in we were surprised that my mother was given her cake in a paper bag. I presumed maybe there had been a misunderstanding? We duly went upstairs to sit down at a table and we were surprised to be served our coffee in takeaway cups and not in crockery cups. My cake didn’t arrive so I had to go and ask for it. It also arrived in a paper bag and not on a plate? Nobody explained or apologised when we were at the till as to why this was going to be the case and generally the staff seemed rushed and nowhere as friendly or as engaging as when I have visited here several times before. If they were short staffed or there was a problem serving using proper crockery then maybe an explanation when we ordered or a notice at the till would have been good. Not the best experience and wished we had gone elsewhere now. Having been to The Kitchen yesterday in Minchinhampton where we were warmly greeted like old friends the difference in the welcome and service was very apparent. Come on Hobbs, you have stiff competition out there and can certainly do so much better.

Blimey - we popped in for a Saturday brunch, we used to come here a lot a few years ago, also wanted to buy some bread. Sat upstairs, along with some other couples and no one came to serve. In the end I went into the bakery to be told you have to order snd collect all yourself before sitting - no restaurant service now being offered. I’m ok with that but no where did they tell you, no sign and no menus. When the order was ready they just screamed your name until you appeared in front of them - even after I made eye contact the lady continued shouting my name - So very rude. It was worse than in a school canteen. We quickly ate a very average bacon bap and left - absolutely awful experience I would not recommend this to anyone.

Just went into Hobbs bakery - no signs to say no dogs, I was shouted at from behind the till in a horrible manner. I then paid for my coffee and then went round to the hatch and overheard 2 members of staff then speaking about me - I could hear it all! Never will I give my custom again.

We are a local family and Hobbs House Bakery helped our family through lockdown and beyond. They provide many tempting treats which are always really appreciated including their cook from frozen products such as pizza bases and croissants which smell amazing when baking. Staff are always kind, helpful and knowledge about their products. They will often go the extra mile to make up special dairy free, vegetarian or vegan options if politely requested. It’s a well kept secret that will also make delicious cakes to order for special occasions such birthdays. Thank you Hobbs House!

I visit Nailsworth occasionally and usually buy bread and have breakfast in the cafe. It has always been excellent. On this occasion the waitress apologised for the broken poached egg and offered to replace it, it looked fine on the delicious sourdough bread so I accepted it. When it came to eating it the toast was soggy with vinegary water. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said “oh yes it’s Monday so it’s not our usual chef” ..too complicated then to eat after my partner to organise another coffee..what a disappointment..AVOID MONDAYS

Firstly to be fair let me say at the outset that Hobbs is an excellent bakery. The bread is tasty and many of the baked goods lovely. But as for the quick lunch we were a little disappointed. For the money, the food was distinctly average. For example the bacon sandwich was minimal, two slices of bacon in two ordinary slices of bread, no proper garnish. The pizza was ok, but the vegetarian salad with potatos and pistacchio pesto distinctly bland. The service to be fair was very friendly. I’d come back for a nice coffee and cake, but not for lunch. Kids books and paper were a nice touch.

Popped in with a friend on a Saturday afternoon after mooching round Nailsworth shops - we couldn't make up our minds what to have as it all sounded good but settled on the Margherita pizza with sourdough base, which was delicious - thin and crispy base with plenty of topping and piping hot. No fresh basil so pesto used instead but equally delicious. Good selection of specialist teas including Redbush which isn't readily available in many places. Tea seemed expensive at £2.50 but came in a good-sized pot which held a good 2 cups so better value than it seemed. Prices ok for good quality food and even better to be given a free loaf of bread left from that morning's market (but perfectly fresh and delicious - Turmeric and Black Onion Seed).

This review is about the newly-opened shop on Gloucester Road BristolI visited for the first time on Saturday and had a spinach and ricotta roll, which was delicious. Working at home on Sunday I needed to eat so I grabbed a few coins and popped out for another. Unfortunately they had sold out and the only other vegetarian takeaway item was a quiche priced £3.50. I only had picked up three pounds so expressed regret that I couldn't afford it. The young lad serving said "let me see if we can do anything", which was a kind thought. However when he asked his supervisor, she flatly said "no we can't do that". No effort to assess the situation or even to address me - leaving the poor boy to convey his embarrassed apologies.Luckily for me Parsons down the road had some veg pasties left - reduced as always to clear before closing. So what kind of supervisor is it who, on the first weekend of trading will not engage with a customer, who is so unsupportive of her staff that she treats them like this? Also is the quiche going to be on display tomorrow, and every day until every slice is sold at full price? Artisanal baking and localism is about a lot more than quaint shops and expensive ingredients. It is about building up a relationship with the customers and community. Otherwise people will come to regard it as yet another cash-in.More vegetarian options would have helped this situation, and would appear a good idea for an area like Bishopston.

I came here with my dad for brunch the other day, and it was just what we needed. My dad ordered the eggs florentine, which he loved, and I ordered 2 poached eggs on their spelt toast. It was the best spelt bread I'd ever had (much better than store bought!) and you could really tell that it was fresh and homemade. My two eggs were cooked to perfection with a runny yolk, just how I like them. They were able to cater for my dairy free requirements and made sure not to put butter on my toast. The service was quick and the waiters were very friendly. I would come here again.

This bakery has the bread and cake counter downstairs, and a café with table service upstairs. Result, if you want a coffee and cake, you first have to attract the attention of the not very competent waiter/waitress upstairs. They then prepare the coffee upstairs and try to get cake upstairs from below. Shambles ensues. As a branch of the well-hyped and upmarket Hobbs House Bakery, they should do a heap better than this. Who is in charge? And head office needs to get a grip soon.

Fancied a trip to Nailsworth with my partner and out two-year-old daughter and came across this place. Beautiful building, great location and setting in the town. Small seated area outside by the brook, kitchen and take-away downstairs with restaurant located up a small flight of stairs. I had the chicken in a bun with tarragon jelly, skin on hand cooked chips and homemade slaw. All hearty and tasty and reasonably priced. My only gripe would be that the jelly was quite intense due to the vinegar The pizza she had was also thumbs up, light sour dough base and tasty toppings. There were two servers, one was very amiable and happy but unfortunately the other server didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Service could have been better - had to get up and ask where our daughters drink was as they forgot, no apology. Had to also get to make the order for the cakes (which were top class). They were bought over before the table was cleared from the mains. The huge and gorgeous slice of chocolate cake we bought was well, so huge we decided to take it with us boxed..... Again, had to ask! In a sentence; good place, good location, good food, good coffee - all let down by the service a little :-/

I'll cut to the chase, I'll give them that their bread is pleasant and looking forward to their chickpea sourdough soon to launch, but this 'bistro' needs a darn good clean, it's got the furnishings that just never look clean, personally not what I want from an eating place. I was uninspired by menu, so didn't eat, but dining buddy had mackerel pâté, with pickles and toast which he delighted in: crunchy toast and tasty pate, tangy gherkins . The children's choice was limited but ample on this occasion; would tire to regulars I imagine. My boy had toastie, fruit and the ubiquitous cartoon of drink; Shame they didn't offer milk. The down side was the coffee: if it's decent coffee you're after give this place a miss, a double shot latte lacked flavour, barely tasted of coffee and was poorly made with lots of foam (that's cappuccino!).

We stopped here whilst heading for the M5. Passing the array of figure firming cakes, we went upstairs to the bistro. It's simply styled with a couple of comfy sofas tucked away in the corner. We had a breakfast of just toast and coffee. The bread tasted absolutely stunning both seeded and white. Butter and preserves are self service and only add to the experience. Lovely place to stop ...

Having a rotten day at work so decided to spoil myself with lunch from Hobbs House - certainly not the cheapest place to eat but all good stuff, unusual flavour combinations and a lovely way to spoil yourself. Beetroot and lentil wrap, enormous and well-stuffed - couldn't eat it all at once!

Enjoyed homemade burgers with Stilton and mushroom with crunchy chips. The wife had a kale, seaweed and mango smoothy which she enjoyed very much

Food here is great, staff are lovely but the only thing that drops it down to three from five is the acoustics in the dining area upstairs. If it's busy, it's like trying to eat and meet on the concourse of a train platform in regards to noise rather than size. Best thing is to eat quickly and take away as much as you can

Seating is upstairs above the bakery. We had an excellent coffee and a tasty ham and pineapple pizza which was reasonably priced. Walls are decorated with lovely paintings which are for sale. The delicious smell of baking permeates the building. There's additional seating outside by the river.

The restaurant offers well-prepared British food at reasonable prices. Service is swift and friendly. There is a good wine list with plenty of choice at the cheaper end. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for as well as those after a good meat meal. The chefs clearly take a pride in presentation and desserts are better than average. This restaurant is worth the journey into the hills on the outskirts of Gloucester.

Very nice pub, we randomly stopped here because it was on our way to a ghost hunt in the area, and we are so glad we stopped here, the pub was nice and clean, the mother daughter team that run it was really friendly, and the food was outstanding, very well presented, great prices and yummy! We are going back in December and I’m very much looking forward to it.

The building and setting at Leaf and Ground is beautiful. I’ve been here before but never eaten in the cafe so wasn’t sure what to expect. We pre-booked a table as we were meeting a friend with their family, making our group 9 people (4 adults and 5 kids). They did charge £5 per person as a deposit but we were glad we could book a guarantee a space for our party. Service was a little slow at points, drinks took awhile to arrive and had to grab someone’s attention to order food. However the food didn’t take too long - it was also delicious and very good quality. I had the chicken parm which was tasty, and my husband had ham, egg and chips, both were very decent sized portions. I would agree with other comments about the kids fries being salty, they were fine to my taste but the kids weren’t especially keen (they don’t normally have salt on their food) - so it might be worth taking that on board for future. We then enjoyed a walk around the grounds after lunch (the kids loved romping around the woodland area). We then had a stop at the kiosk for ice cream/milkshakes, followed by a trip to the kids play area. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny October afternoon and we will be back :)

We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !
