We walked in the room and walked back out immediately! We should have known what this hotel was going to be like by the Police car parked outside when we pulled up; and Police Man on his way out of reception, as we were on our way in. We ended up paying for another hotel nearby. More like a Hostel than an Hotel. Unclean, blood stains on the bed covers, mould, bad odours - cigarette smoke mainly on corridors. Shower resembled something from a horror movie. Mirror inside wardrobe door broken... we felt extremely uncomfortable being there, so we checked out after 3 mins.

This was probably once a really nice place, but now it’s dilapidated, we arrive about 22:30hrs and the initial impression as you drove into the tip of a carpark was not good, quite a few delinquents out front smoking green and as we pulled in they disappeared round the side out the was as not to be seen smoking it. Cars just parked anywhere. Reception no better, it says something when the reception has Perspex shielding all around the reception desk and a little slot to pass your keys through. The very friendly chap on reception 😂😂😂 was about as welcoming as a dose of the pox. The rooms were no better, no heating on, fresh paint to mask the stains and smell of smoking. Beds were clean on first inspection until I noticed a couple of little friends hopping about. No food on site but we ordered pizza in and when my daughter and her partner were coming back from reception they were met with a naked man out for a jaunt round the hotel. Walking down to my room you could smell the “guests” who were being housed by our government cooking and smoking some exotic herbs. So altogether an interesting trip. I’ve slept in some strange places (including a cave) and this was by far the worst place I’ve stayed. I would take the cave over this place anytime.

Old, damp room. One can accept thread bear furnishings and the general wear and tear. But a truly awful bed, all the springs had an gone. A better night would have been had sleeping in the car. I should have complained about the bed. If you do end up here - ask to the bed and lie on it before parting cash. Sadly the floor isn't a retreat - it is equally skanky. And come on - one tea bag and towel for a double room

Don't be taken in by the photos. We booked 2 superior rooms for 3 nights. Our room was a disgrace. One towel only, extractor did not work, toilet leaked, kettle without fuse, TV didn't work, no coat hangers or wardrobe, small double bed poked up against a wall. Quite uncomfortable. Everywhere was sticky and would not put my bare feet on the carpet. Spent time backwards and forwards to reception to pick up bits including toilet paper. Our rooms were not serviced after second night, so backwards and forwards to reception once again. One plus is the staff were friendly even though you could tell they were frustrated with the complaints.

The positive is our room was spotlessly clean with clean bedding and towels. Now for the rest. The reception staff were generally absent. We only met one when we checked in. There was no one actually attending the desk for the rest of the time we were there which was 2 nights. The restaurant was closed. No explanation why or when it would reopen. That meant no breakfast or evening meal. We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room. But the non-existent reception staff made getting more tea, coffee, milk and sugar impossible. The room had been repainted but by someone who had chosen speed over accuracy. If you are a professional painter-and-decorator these room might give you a breakdown. The chest of drawers had also been painted - apparently the painter chose to close the drawers before they were dry, leading to them being permanently stuck. Its a 2 star hotel and it shows but at least the cleaners were friendly. Perhaps the cleaners should apply for the receptionists role since they were at least visible.

When asked where local food was receptionist said he didn't live here and couldn't help. Needed to change room as loud buzz. Room doors very stiff. Have to bang them shut. Paint job very poor. We had a drawer which wouldn't open due to paint. One drawer missing and a cupboard drawer falling off. We asked for extra pillows but guy on reception couldn't help. A car arrived at midnight, outside our window and sat with his engine on playing loud music for several hours. All in all not a good night. Just glad it was only one night

My daughter arranged for us to stay one night here whilst we assisted her house move; apparently she’d read some reviews and had concerns. We though checked in “blind”, and my oh my, what a shock. With hindsight I can only echo much of previous reviews; as to our experience; in the car park you are pretty much advised your car will be broken in to for starters. The weird no ID no Check in thing No toilets The reception man couldn’t have been less interested when we checked in, ( and out 10 minutes later). I got the impression he knew we weren’t staying as he perused the keys behind the desk before finally selecting the pit that is room 127. Low lights of 127 included, no headboard and God only knows what on the walls, especially at the pillow end of the bed! No refreshments Peeling wallpaper, dirty carpets, litter on floor, used candles on the bath, layers of damaged seal around the bath, dirty toilet etc etc. I could go on; in any event, we weren’t staying! No highlights! Back to reception where man had vanished! Other random men found him, in an extremely short conversation we said the room was appalling; he said he’d sort a refund with Booking.com. Man that was all she wrote! no offer of a better room, just he’d sort it! Luckily for us, we were able to drive back to the daughters new house for food and then home, it spoilt a planned night out; and our daughter was really upset! Once we showed her the pictures we’d taken she was understanding though. SO TO BE ACCURATE, THIS PLACE IS A DUMP, and as other reviews have implied only exists for dodgy purposes or is a bail hostel, or services (illegal) migrants; something ain’t right, clearly “ proper” guests are not part of the business plan. Further to my issues with the establishment itself; what on earth are Booking. com playing at even entertaining advertising place’s like this. Booking.com; - man up, visit these cess pits and drop them, AND what exactly do the regulatory and local authorities do with the taxes we pay them? This place is grim, unhygienic and unsanitary and unless these characteristics are an essential in some aspect of this sector, then this place should be shut and the owners brought to book! Finally to Booking.com; a second “man up”; no right minded person would willing stay in the room we were offered so stop jerking my daughter around and sort her refund out; £40 odd is owed, which was &40 odd more than the room was ever worth!

Hotel prepped for Covid rules which we understood. However this venue was dirty from the recption onwards. However the sticker on the screen in reception read - "no photo ID no room" was rather hostile & bizarre. Despite this sign we were not asked for ID. This hotel had the look of a half-way house or hostel. Certainly from the few people we saw late evening i was glad our visit was short. The person on reception had poor interaction with us in the few minutes he deigned to speak with us. The decor was dated - no work since the 70's - 80's at seems. However we could have overlooked this if it been maintained or been clean. Our initial room - a standard double & not what we ordered - was filthy, the carpet, the furniture, the bathroom & bedding eeything was crawling with ground in dirt, damp, stains or dead flies or cobwebs. On returning to reception to confirm they had offered us the room we had booked we were told these were all sold out. No apology or explanation. To be fair the difference in price was £3. The non deluxe room we ended up with was a small improvement. - but this is not to say the room was much better. The bedding at least appeared clean. The bathroom was awful - the shower did not work, the taps were hard to turn. We didn't have any hot water during our visit - when we did it as off site. The overall impression was grubby & unsavoury. We went out for the evening but didn't change at the hotel, we did so at our friend's house. Likewise we did not shower as this was out of order & the the facilities are less than sanitary! We were contacted by Booking.com to say we had not arrived / checked in at the hotel. Suspect this either so we don't write a review, as if we haven't stayed, not sure - we will investigate this further. There was no one in reception as we left. We just wanted to get out asap. Please stay elsewhere. It needs a lot of work doing & deep cleaning. It is not safe during COVID, we have felt ill since our return.

Booked and paid for 2 nights stay. Including an extra payment of more than 50% for them to add an "extra bed" for our daughter. This was an inflatable mattress on the floor which meant every moment resulted in such a loud noise that we all woke. The double bed wasnt much better with a sagging mattress and wafer thin pillows. We resorted to makeshift bolsters out of bath towels. The bathroom floor had a hole in the floor. The wardrobe door hinges were off at the bottom. The hair dryer had a safety test sticker saying it was due to be retested nearly 2 years ago ( 2018). The staff we spoke to were very indifferent and really couldn't be bothered. The car park is full of broken glass and had notices up about car crime. We left after 1 night wasting our money and went home. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

This hotel is absolutely appalling. I booked via Booking.com. On arrival with my partner we were told there was no room available and our booking did not exist. I provided our booking details and was reluctantly handed keys to a room. The room was not even made up! The bed was still messy from the previous person who had slept in it and more worryingly the room stank of urine. We then discovered the bed was filthy. There was also used cups and spoons strewn around the room. We alerted hotel staff to be told by a female staff member she was booking off duty and would send someone else. We persisted and eventually a male staff member came to the room and handed us bed linen and walked off. I refused to sleep in the bed. We had to wait in the room until my partner was safe to drive as we had been out for dinner and he had a drink. When subsequently complaining about this horrific experience ‘Imran’ (presumably the owner / manager) has not even had the decency to acknowledge the issues. Steer clear of this establishment we waster good money and it ruined a weekend we were very much looking forward to.

One night stay, I was concerned when it was less than £40 for a double room. On arrival we learnt you get what you pay for. The hotel is tired, the staff are casual, the rooms are spacious, and those are the good points. The bathroom was at least 30 years old matching the room decor. It was cleanish if you ignore the mould. Soap dispensers.....EMPTY. One towel between two people. Tea and coffee apparently....well coffee yes but no tea. The 1980's pelmet hanging off. The bed must be at least 30 years old as it had a valley in the middle, cosy if you like that. The car park was strewn with rubbish, our room overlooked a skip which didnt look as if it had been emptied this century. We did not risk breakfast at £5, as you get what you pay for!The owners are obviously unconcerned at the poor state of this hotel, and presumably is awaiting demolition, which is what it deserves.

We attended here whilst visiting our daughter who was working in the area. As she is vegan it was interesting to be taken to a vegan festival at Himley Hall. It is a country manor type hotel but had great access and parking and the festival was well positioned on the ground floor throughout several rooms and outside. The only downside was the number of people trying to access the internet for their card readers made paying for things time consuming and frustrating.

On 2 May I arrived with my niece to view the hotel rooms and the suitability of using the venue for my niece's wedding armed with a £12,000 budget. After waiting in the grubby reception area a very nice lady showed us around. I had hoped the rooms would have improved from my previous stay 2 years ago when the rooms were, in a nutshell, disgusting. It was obvious to both my niece and I that this lady was embarrassed. However, we rather liked the conservatory which would have suited our needs. Having stayed before, I had assumed parking at the hotel was free. I mentioned we were parked outside and the receptionist said that was fine. However since then I have received parking fines and threatening letters from a company called Civil Enforcement and no matter how much I try to explain, they do NOT listen. The Manager,Amy [-] has ignored my calls and letters, while the receptionist is downright rude. I find this unprofessional and am shocked that they can afford to turn away business when the place is obviously in need of a massive injection of funds!

Wanted to complain but I didn`t want to upset my mom on her birthday. I know I got this on a Groupon deal but I`ve had quite a few of these and they have always been very good. Having spent 22 years travelling for business and staying in hotels on a weekly basis I can honestly say this was the worst hotel I have encountered. The car park was that bad we drive our cars to a nearby restaurant and left them there. The shower broke and flooded the bathroom, the carpets were worn through and dirty. There were no toiletries (shower gel/shampoo or even toilet roll!!) in the bathroom. Well! Had a Groupon voucher bought last year for my birthday but due to the kitchen fire couldn’t go until last week. When we turned up there was someone in a T-shirt peering through the entrance so we thought it was someone waiting for a taxi but no - turned out that was the chef waiting for our table as we were the last in! Admittedly we turned up at 7.30pm, which was the time we had booked, and asked for a drink at the bar (extra revenue you would have thought) but obviously chef was on a promise as it was evident he wanted to go home and you could tell he was repeatedly asking the girls to ask us to go through. So as the song says ‘just the two of us’ in the restaurant/conservatory so not much atmosphere. Asked for the wine menu - red or white - with a very small menu for red or white! ‘Homemade’ soup had to be sent back as it was cold. Steak, chips and peas were ok. Place clean and staff friendly but this place used to be amazing years ago but unfortunately not now. Owners need to invest or turn it into something else. Needless to say we won’t be going back

I'm not sure where to start really, first impressions are that the building is in need of care, reception and bar area had buckets catching water from the leaking roof, appeared to be minimal staff that did not encourage you. We had booked two rooms on the ground floor - be warned there are steps up to the toilets and rooms where they have put boards down for I presume wheelchairs, but I wouldn't think they'd pass any health and safety. The whole place needs stripping out and refurbishing. Our room had rusted electric radiator rusty fittings in the bathroom, loose toilet seat with an overwhelming smell of bleach where they've tried to clean off the mould on the tiles, the net curtains had mould and the other curtains where hanging off the pole, the bed base was sat in the floor and was torn, I will give credit that it had clean linen and clean towels but the mattress was quite old and could feel all the springs, however that's about it, the other room was similar except it had a hole in the carpet, no mattress protectors and a tin on the window cill containing ash. We returned from a party at 10.45 no one on reception nor at the bar, a lady came out from the back when we called but said she was closing at 11pm, which she did by slamming the shutters, clearly not hanging about then. On the coffee table by the fire someone had stuck chewing gum and my brother in law picked up a piece of broken glass from the floor, they also had the thrum of some machinery operating throughout the night..... breakfast was good, but again no staff about, and certainly no one to put any complaints to, you just dropped the key off in a box in the front desk, it looks like is place is being run into the ground as we last visited three years ago and we thought it may have been upgraded, sadly not, even Alex Polizzi would struggle with this, it's an absolute shame as it could be made a fabulous venue would not return again

Had a Groupon voucher for a 2 course Sunday lunch carvery meal. I must say the staff are pleasant, but the food is shocking. The meat(gammon)was fatty, the potatoes are frozen aunt Bessie warmed up and the carrots was like bullets. The pudding we went for was Apple pie and custard, my pie was undercooked with the consistency of wall paper paste custard and my husband's was burnt to a crisp pie. We simply couldn't eat it. We didn't wait for the tea or coffee. I think we had suffered enough.

Hotel in need of some cosmetic changes and tweaks. No defined parking spaces or disabled parking. Public areas in need of decorating. However bedding and towels clean and room comfortable. Some corporate identity for staff would improve overall impression of hotel. Breakfast had a 8 item hot menu and a good choice of fresh fruit and cereals. However the supply was not monitored by staff to ensure all items available for guests e g fried eggs Overall hotel was well situated and good value for money. The afternoon tea included in deal was lovely. And hotel was good value for money.

Booked afternoon tea as a treat for my daughters - i reserved a week before for 4 of us (1 needed to be gluten free) .On arriving we were told the booking was only for 2 and no gluten free available today - we'd have to rebook - we were offered a complementary drink and whilst drinking this, we decided we'd had a lucky escape - the bar area looked tired and dreary, there was an odd smell - possibly damp - but didn't give us much confidence in rebooking.

No toilet lid, more cracked tiles in the bathroom, the widow had parts of it falling off. The proper door lock with key card doesn’t work so they fitted new locks from Wilkinson’s. rooms just a disgrace.

The whole place was shabby and dirty. All communal areas were very run down and glum and everything was sticky with dirt. Corridors upstairs were not ventilated and smelled. Our room had wallpaper hanging off the walls and was ripped in other places. The window was dirty and had several dead flies on the ledges. The net curtain was stiff and grey with dirt. Our toilet didn't flush but apparently "there is a special way to flush it" reception told us. Carpet in room was threadbare.

After informing reception he was told there was nothing they could do about it as there were no spare rooms. Meanwhile our room had a dead wasp on the windowsill, a myserious brown stain on the towel, half used complimentary toiletries and the wifi would not work in the room. Only positives were the price and the shower pressure.

When the food come it was missing items which were stated on the menu, when asked about this the answer was we can’t give you any. The food was all frozen and the service was even worse. I waited 5 minutes after my food was brought out for sauce. My food was cold by the time I got the sauce for it. Food was very bland, and for the price I would at least expect a bit of quality. Presentation was also awful, food was slapped together on a tiny plate. It was a booking for 16 people and I wouldn’t even give it 1 star. The place has so much potential, but with nasty frozen food and staff that don’t go that extra mile, it’s lacking a lot!

We had a two course Sunday lunch on a deal so it was value for money. However the venue has seen better days. You don't get a good impression as you drive up on heavily rutted tarmac. The meal was served in the conservatory by very pleasant staff and was tasty and hot. The windows looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for decades. It's a great pity that this once thriving restaurant seems to be on its uppers. It needs a sizeable injection of cash to give it an uplift. Hopefully someone will do that soon.

We came here for afternoon tea on my 20th birthday, it was a surprise from my mom and nan. And a surprise it was... first of all the cake stand wasn't screwed together properly so the food nearly slid off the sides. Let's start on the tea side of this, the only options were tea or coffee.. and they were basic cheap tea bags nothing special. Then the sandwiches... a Tesco meal deal would've been better they were dry and the choice was appalling. Now the cakes, they were slices of cheap loaf cakes definitely not made there at all and the scones were awful so so so dry and the jam was barely jam purely sugar and no fruit at all. When we complained they bought out a mini muffin with the top cut off and some buttercream in - no impressed at all. Was a complete let down. Also they seat you so you're facing the car park and the bar...not at all pleasant. Considering there were only four tables and two staff the service was extremely slow. We all left completely disappointed - do not go here. There are so many better places for afternoon in the area you will only be let down

I visited here with my friend that got the offer from Groupon for Afternoon Tea I want to leave an honest review. Upon arrival the place look very run down, lack of attention from the outside uninviting place. The driveway leading to front of the hotel needs to be retarmac a lot of ditches and crumbling road. There was not visible parking bays some parking bays was tight. The surrounding of hotel is a big mess there is a skip full of rubbish really should be covered out of sight and all. The bushes are over grown and broken spotlight on the floor visible to see, broken fences just laying on one side of grounds. The hotel itself need a lick of paint from the outside orange looks dull and outdated and mildew is eye opener, the roof by the conservatory is missing some bricks there is a hole. the conservatory roof needs cleaning moss from the gutters is all over there. The clock at the top doesn't work. Name signs needs to be revamped. Okay there was a gardener planting some pansy flowers in ground and in hanging baskets and cutting the grass to uplift the grounds. But still needs more... a lot more work!!When entering the venue it had very old feeling dating back to 60s I'd say. the carpet was very busy and dirty it was dark and dingie atmosphere. there was some kind of ramp that looked to have no use but quite dangerous the seating area I think it suppose to be like a chill out area that's attached to the pub needs to be updated fresh new seats. As going into the rest of the restaurant there was a lovely room only because they kept the beams that really gave it a certain look would be good for Halloween if they did do it... I say they have about 8 tables was dressed accordingly. Then was lead into an eye opener of a conservatory for afternoon tea as it was there we had it. was asked where we like to sit out of two particular spaces which we chosen. Staff who greeted us was friendly and good host. When our food came out I was little a bit disappointed despite the look of everything wanted to give it benefit of the doubt might me okay request vegetarian option we had that not an issue the fillings we had was tuna from a tin grated cheese and egg mayo but the bread was hard like it's not freshly maded. Cakes we had was from a packet that cost 0.99p From the shop for a tray of 6. slab of fruit cake cut into slices and scones from a packet that was very dry the jam seems to be scooped from a jar of jam cheap version. And clotted cream was very watery taste. The chairs we sat on were bamboo that were chip or wore away the table had a vase with a plastic white rose in it gave no purpose to the table look stupid sitting there. There was a table in the middle no use but had artificial colour plants on it, why I don't know. The roman blinds in the conservatory was white but dirty when you look above your head there was slate blinds dirty again.Overall I could not possibly recommend this to anyone not even for a wedding they display a table of information of. Although the two staff I spoke to were friendly you wouldn't even reliase they were staff no uniform, no name tags.I feel that this place is target market is elderly and to be honest it would be a lovely place if they put more of an effort in .This place needs to close down to make the revotations that is desperately needs otherwise reviews like this will continue and I be doubtful if any one will continue to see this a place to visit. Hotel inspector needs to come here...I also suggest that staff/ owners goes to other hotels to review there Afternoon teas to see how to they can adapt it to their venue..please see pictures.

Went with my mother as she had been given a voucher for a birthday present. My cousin got married here a few years ago and it was lovely. Now it is old and dilapidated and needs knocking down.I have tried a few action teas and this was bar far the worst. We should have guessed as 3 tables had the left over food from 3 other afternoon teas which were hardly touched either. The sandwiches had clearly been made in the morning as they were dry and hard. You got 2 slices of Madeira cake and a fairy cake which are both shoo bought and dry. You then get a scone with jam and cream. We ate the scone had a cup of tea and left within 15 minutes of arriving.Very poor show and in all of the reviews I have done on trip advisor , this is the first awful one I have given with absolutely nothing to say that is good about it.Wish I could give 0 stars. If I was blind and had no taste buds I'm sure I could still make a better sandwich.

Within a year this hotel had detoriated unbelievably so. Apparently, it is under new management but everything appears to be even worse than before. The hotel needs to be closed down and completely gutted, cleaned and renovated trhoughout. The state of the rooms is appalling, mouldy smells, peeling wallpaper, stained carpets, beds which not only feel unclean but leave one itching after trying to sleep in them. The plumbing is disgraceful. The cleanliness is well below standard. I must say though that the chambermaids will try their utmost to help your stay to be better. The cod loin is delicious as are a whole host of other dishes. Goats cheese is unbelievable too. Drinks are also good value and an excellent choice of wines and spirits. All in all, it’s a cracking restaurant with really warm and welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble, even at the busiest times. Special mention to Tonya as she is excellent and very friendly & warm. A real credit to you. Keep on doing what you’re doing, well done guys & thank you.
