We were there with a tour group, so no choice in the matter. It's designed to handle big groups of tourists rapidly, and that it did. The fried fish cake appetizer was largely potato with some haddock overtones. At least the greens and tartar sauce tasted good. My baked cod entree had broccoli and mashed potatoes. All were a bit overcooked. The desserts were good - I tasted brownie with toffee sauce and ice cream, and also tasted the chocolate mousse cake. The servers were OK and tried to accommodate. It felt like a catering hall affair. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you have a choice.

Stayed here overnight. Great location. Close to lots of attractions, bars and restaurants. However, could hear lots of noises from inside the hotel that woke us up multiple times. Also, the valet man is rude and unhelpful, making you feel like you’ve done something wrong when you’re paying £25 for a simple service.

We really like this hotel and it’s location, parking is quite expensive but that’s York so worth counting that into the hotel price when booking. Breakfast was really good and love how they do the eggs to order. Staff are very helpful

Great experience at Cliffords Tower, was a very fun day out. The scenery is great when it genuinly is a nice day in England. Somedays you may have a few people to battle around for a good photograph but otherwise I'd recommend coming to see this.

This hotel has a great location and is very smart when you arrive. However our room on the second floor was almost pokey, it was dark and looked tired. The bathroom was very small the tap on the sink was set too far back, so it splashed water every time you used it. The hotel was busy and the door slamming started early with the business users, if you want a lay in the house keeping team will ensure that does not happen. The Hilton was supposed to be a treat at £517 for three nights B&B. Its OK, but I would not bother again.

Hotel is opposite the Clifford tower even with the scaffolding over it (the tower not the hotel) it was still a nice outlook. We were greeted very warmly and given helpful suggestions for our trip. The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking a georgian building and a small church. Such a great location and easy walking distance to all the major sights. Room was clean and sanitiser I felt very safe here. We did not eat in the hotel as we had other plans. But from the window the restaurant looked very nice. Only negative for me was a dripping sound from a radiator and that does drive me mad so I had to pop in some earplugs.

and it provides wonderful city views around 360 degrees. There is a challenging flight of steps but they are worth the effort.

Used a voucher for fish & chips and prosecco. Both lovely as was the view of Clifford's tower. Covid secure .

Tonight I had a delicious 2 course meal with my boyfriend in the Hilton. Not only was the food of a high standard but the service was brilliant too. Emmanouil and Kas were friendly, professional and very helpful making our dining experience perfect. It makes a huge differen6to be served by warm, friendly servers so thank you.

Our stay at the Hilton Tower was too short. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere permeated friendly hospitality. The room was divided into two areas - bedroom and lounge -dinning, beautifully decorated, comfortable and super clean, with views of the tower across the road. We loved relaxing in the bar/restaurant after our long walks sightseeing. Breakfast too was great with a variety of hot and cold dishes. If we get another chance to visit England again, I would stay at the Hilton Tower, and hopefully next time stay longer. Thank you Hilton staff for a lovely experience.

The hotel, staff and food were all really good. Really enjoyed our Christmas stay there. The location is also excellent.

Four friends meeting up in York.Hotel was pre booked to accomodate our dis- abled friend. Rooms 242 and 243, We paid £211 for two nights for two people including breakfast.The rooms were fine if a little small.We had a view of banks of air conditioning units which at night were quite noisy.It was clean and well presented but the bedside light was hanging off the wall and potentially dangerous, Comfortable seating areas were in short supply. The entrance hall was continuously blasted by cold air from the air conditioning and the only other place to sit was in the bar that had comfortable seating for about 6 people.Breakfast was very good. The location again was very good.Staff were helpful.

As people probably already know, York is full of history, and I love a good bit of history and exploring, so this was a for sure experience that I wasn't going to miss. It's small as it is just a tower, but the views you get from it are spectacular! If you're one for views then I seriously suggest going and having a gander, it's astonishing!

On a trip for my sister in laws 60th, booked afternoon tea via groupon £19 for two people, i did book for four of us. What amazing value, it was fantastic and plentiful, not pretentious just really delicious sandwiches and warm scones with jam and cream and lots of little cakes, service was really good as well.

This has an interesting history, you may think that this tower is not so interesting but your wrong, there is so much history in this tower so, plan a trip to York and add this on you list to visit.

Fui aquí para el té de la tarde para un regalo para nuestra hija durante el medio plazo. Comenzó bien, muy cortés y la comida salió con un buen sabor, y felizmente acomodó a nuestras hijas, quisquillosa para comer. Sin embargo, una vez que terminamos, esperamos más de 30 minutos y tuvimos que pedir un servidor para limpiar nuestra mesa (para envolver nuestras sobras, ya que no podíamos comer todo), lo que realmente arruinó la experiencia. Esto se debió a que todo el personal recibió capacitación al mismo tiempo que una persona que se quedó para tratar con todo y con todos. Hablé con el Subgerente, quien se disculpó porque no se había dado cuenta del caos que había causado ya que no éramos las únicas personas que esperaban. Realmente no es el tipo de servicio que se espera del Hilton.

El precio de entrada era muy alto para la pequeña torre. Decidimos no entrar, y solo verla por fuera. Se encuentra algo alejada de otras atracciones, pero vale la pena ir a verla por fuera por lo menos.

Stayed there on a works evening doo, the rooms was very hot so had to open the window which then made it almost impossible to sleep. Location wise it’s great and the hotel itself is ok, could do with a little updating.

Really good location 5 -10 min walk from the Shambles. Room was nice, comfy bed, coffee making facilities, no fridge. Breakfast was buffet style, cooked (no mushrooms), fruits, cereals, pastries. Friendly staff. Small gym

Merece la pena subir y aunque es de pago la "visita" también por las vistas tan bonitas que se tienen.

I may have got the Hiltons mixed up when I complained in my last review about a lack dining room dress code. This is definitely where we stayed and quite upset regarding the staff reaction to our complaint.

Teníamos la vista de la torre con balcón - - curiosamente, no hay sillas en ninguno de los 3 balcones. Habitación pequeña pero decente. El desayuno para nosotros, incluido, y tenían una buena elección y un personal atento. La ubicación es excelente. El museo y la torre al otro lado de la calle, el museo del ejército al lado y la casa Fairfax a la vuelta de la esquina, la zona de exposiciones Viking a una cuadra de distancia. Shamples a 2 cuadras de distancia. Caminamos a todas partes desde aquí.

The stair climb was easy and the view was spectacular. I really enjoyed viewing the historical city from thsi vantage point.

The hotel is located in a great part of York, directly opposite Clfford's Tower and just around the corner of both the Barbican Centre and Grand Opera House. Staff are friendly, the room was basic but had an amazing view of the Tower. Personally I just wish hotels would stop calling two single beds pushed together as a King-size bed, it can make it an uncomfortable nights sleep where the two beds meet......

We had a really tasty evening meal in this restaurant. I had pasta which was delicious, some very nice wine.

Stayed two nights at this hotel and this is my second visit. The hotel is ideally situated for walking about York.

My mum and I got 2 nights at this hotel and tickets to a show at the opera house for our Christmas from my dad. What a great time we had, The hotel wasn’t too far in a taxi from the station. Once there we were able to walk everywhere from it’s central location. The room and staff at the hotel were excellent and the variety at breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again!

Mi amigo ganó el té de la tarde aquí y me invitó a ir con ella. Sentados enseguida, y nuestro camarero trajo los sándwiches y pasteles en una hermosa e inusual. Luego llevamos nuestro taza de té. Los bocadillos eran encantadores y frescos y las tartas eran preciosas. Tenía bollos con mermelada y nata y poco tartas de frutas. No nos apuraron y se sentía muy especial, aunque en realidad no estábamos pagando por el té. Sin duda lo recomendaría y volvería de nuevo y pagar por ello. Hermoso.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea on Saturday....everything was perfect. The service ...the food and the setting all could not have been better.

De haber estado aquí muchas veces debido principalmente a su ubicación debe decir encantadoras habitaciones muy contentos desayuno estupendo y una gran vista de la torre clifforfs también muy cerca de un desastre. Sin embargo, a veces puede ser ruidoso los fines de semana debido a que el personal de soltero y soltera mantenerlo bajo control.

Reservamos en este hotel para un corto descanso. Vivimos a solo unos 30 km de York, y he visitado muchas veces, pero siempre me sentí que nos hubiera gustado quedarnos y he visto más de la ciudad.

Situado justo al lado de todas las atracciones y de los museos más importantes y al lado de la torre de Clifford. 5 Minute taxi en bici o a pie en 10 minutos desde la estación de trenes. No siempre es barato, tienes que pagar extra por las habitaciones bonitas y mejoras limitadas. Que se ocupará de su equipaje, así que puedes ir a York temprano y pasar el día de turismo y también a la salida que se ocupará de su equipaje si tienes una salida tardía. El aparcamiento es muy limitado. Me alojé allí tienen al menos 4 veces en los últimos dos años, y lo nuevo

Attended a function for 144 here on Saturday the 26th of Sept - the food was dreadful !!! Lukewarm soup, the Old English Chicken was tough and had little taste, sauce very thin, the roast potatoes, carrots and green beans were all overcooked, lacking flavour and soggy. The only decent thing about the meal was the breadbun that went with the soup and the chocolate desert. Complained by email to the events organiser on the Monday - supposedly passed on to executive head chef and hotel manager but still not heard back from them 10 days later. Would definatley NOT RECOMMEND for anyone wanting to hold a function there.

My husband and I had afternoon tea at the Hilton Hotel, it was delicious - fresh tasty sandwiches and dainty delicate cakes and scones. Plus we had a stunning view of Clifford's Tower complete with daffodils.

This was our second Afternoon Tea at the Hilton in York using a special offer voucher and have to say this second visit was the best by far. The waitress was lovely and in fact all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The service was prompt and the food was good. The coffee there is Costa which we always like and getting a second latte included was a pleasant surprise as often when you go on a voucher you only get one latte.My only grumble is that the sandwiches were a little crispy on the outside which I guess means they get a few ready together. I can understand that but they should be made freshly for Afternoon Tea as it is a main part of the meal.Lovely views over Clifford's Tower from our window seat made this a lovely Afternoon Tea though despite the bread.

We spent the day at Clifford's Tower and York Castle Museum and thought Afternoon Tea would be lovely at The Hilton. Wrong. We were the only people in the restaurant. I wondered if the waitress even understood what afternoon tea was? We all ordered the same thing, afternoon tea with champagne. We were a party of 4. She brought just me a warm champagne and the other 3 people in my party their tea only. We asked where my tea was and for the other 3 champagnes. She replied with "oh you all want it together?" Uh...yes. Then she brought out the sandwiches on the 3 tiered display. 2 displays were missing scones. She said "oh yeah, sorry we are out." Uh, why not mention that before we ordered afternoon tea. Isn't that what's it all about? The presentation was a mess. The sandwiches were stale and what sweets we did get were like rubber. I was so embarrassed, because 2 of the people in our party had never experienced a proper afternoon tea. We were never offered more hot water...which was cold because the tea and champagne was served 20 minutes before the stale sandwiches arrived. Awful. Never again.

Visited this restaurant last week for lunch. The food took too long we was waiting one hour , we was with friends. Most of us had sandwiches , and two of us had the fish and chips, I couldn't understand why it had taken so long. Then when the food finally arrived it was average. I would not recommend this restaurant for food. However the drinks were very nice.

Great views and photo opportunities from one of the highest points. There are a lot of steps to get to the entry, but worth the effort.

Breakfast is amazing and great choice! Room service is nice as long as you like microwave meals. Lovely desserts.

Having trawled through the streets of York on a sunny saturday evening and finding everything was booked out, we managed to squeeze a table in at the Towers at Hilton. I was very worried when we arrived as the restaurant was full but noone was eating! this is not a good sign, especially as I knew that a 'prom' was happening in the same hotel at the same time, a sure sign that the kitchen staff were under pressure. As a result, we waited 45minutes for our fish n chips, and admittedly the staff were aware of the situation and gave us free bread and olives. And the food? excellent fish n chips. restaurant ambience was just ok.Luckily we were staying in the Hotel and therefore had a chance to sample the breakfast buffet - top marks for the full english - every Hilton in UK now seems to have a standard recipe for a breakfast buffet; it works every time

Brill Sunday lunch carvery in the Hilton york, over looking Clifford Tower. Nice carvery food, well cooked tender meats and lovely veg, choice of three sweets. £12.99 per head price includes two course and a drink (wine or beer) plus coffee. Excellent value and if you book a window seat you get the lovely view too! Nice airy restaurant, lovely staff who are very welcoming and attentive. Really recommend this for a Sunday lunch

I have stayed there multiple times. The rooms are nice and the staff is helpful.. On the food On breakfast it is the traditional horrible buffet that you could get at a premier, except they have someone making half raw omelettes on request... Dinner was a tasteless macabre of meat and sauces. I've never actually managed to cook tasteless food before, but this was impressive. So if you eat dinner there, sit in the bar and order off the bar menu! That is good food. Genuinely "I'll finish my plate bc I want to" food

Really busy for breakfast but the staff were in abundance and coped well. Queues for the Buffet but again no issues with lots of fresh food and cheerful staff - especially the egg chef!Nice and airy, decent view

My wife, daughter and I recently had afternoon tea at the Hilton Tower. The price was around 13 pounds or so for what we ordered. We were very pleased with it and thought that it was a very good value. Our waitress (Annie?) provided very good service.

My family and I took my Grandma here for her 80th birthday. The staff were lovely and friendly, always on hand to help but not overpowering us. The food prices were affordable and the quality of food was excellent! Add the lovely view of Clifford's Tower and air con on a hot day and we were all very impressed. I will be revisiting in the near future.

On arrival we were unsure of where to go so went to reception to ask however after waiting at reception for 10 minutes with no members of staff approaching us, despite many of them making eye contact with us then looking away. We decided to walk around and find out where we had to be for ourselves.After being seated we weren`t handed menus yet the waitress asked us which tea would we like it took us having to ask for the menu to be allowed to have a look at the selection. When our order was taken we were not asked if there were any dietary requirements, which I had mentioned when booking. When I asked the manager to change the afternoon tea to vegetarian it seemed as though it was a big issue despite having checked when I booked that afternoon tea could be changed according to dietary requirements.the waitress which served the afternoon tea was rude and unfriendly, we felt extremely uncomfortable when we needed to ask for things as there seemed to be no staff around for us to ask. When leaving the waitress was extremely rude and didn`t even seem t acknowledge the fact we had barely eaten anything and were leaving she seemed to busy biting her nails.The afternoon tea itself was awful sandwiches and scones felt as though they had been in a freezer and cakes were too heavy even on an empty stomach to eat.

Save your money and eat somewhere else. This is really no more than a hotel dining room. The food is average at best. It is seriously overpriced, riding on the Hilton name. As you enter the hotel , it promises so much and yet delivers little. Little would be the best way to describe the starters as well. I have left more on a plate when full than the size of the portion of Garlic mushrooms that I was served. I would be seriously surprised if a full mushroom was used !The main course was little better, overcooked, with the beef drowned in gravy and sat on raw cabbage. Al-dente is not raw. The Belly Pork dish turned in to a chewy mess dominated by the black pudding mash. The sweets were at best poor. If you would like a bottle of wine, be sure to take a credit card.There are many better places to eat.

Principalmente questo è il ristorante dell'Hotel Hilton che fa parte del complesso, ma, come spesso accade, può essere utilizzato anche da avventori esterni.La posizione è molto bella, tant'è che se si mangia ai tavoli vicini alle finestrate la vista è quella del castello di York.Venendo al cibo, la qualità è media, calcolando che si tratta di cucina inglese e di un ristorante a buffet. Tuttavia la cuoca, che sta dietro al buffet, è gentilissima e spiega molto bene e con pazienza le pietanze.Anche il resto del personale di sala è molto gentile. Promosso.
