Thanks for providing a nice area in your pub for my partners special birthday Great to be able to do this without booking a meal but obviously plenty of drinks brought and some had food. Seemed very short staffed so possibly manager run ragged trying to serve and clear up etc so was a bit stressed which needs addressing but was great to have this facility thanks

From the minute we arrived, the staff were welcoming, attentive, and pleasant. They managed to cope with the late arrival of some of our party with no problems at all. The service was quick and efficient, the food was both plentiful and of great quality. And they catered for all our requests with a smile and a positive result!!

Visited again with friends for a Sunday Roast. Again Darryl was extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble for him-service was excellent and all the staff were happy and smiling. Again was able to have the children’s Roast which for small appetites ticks all the boxes as no food wastage. Thoroughly pleasant afternoon-thank you to the Hillside Team

We came here as our local wasn't serving food. Haven't been for years and weren't disappointed. Staff were very attentive. Main meal was very tasty and good value for money, unlike the desserts which were overpriced. Charming character building but noticed a lot of dirty cobwebs on walls, in corners and around pictures and fittings. Could do with more attention to detail and a long feather duster!

Bald shot manager has no hospitality skills. Totally ruined mother’s day lunch for us. The guy was rude and cannot work under pressure. His attitude is not good for a pub restaurant in the vintage inn chain which we go to a lot. Best suited to being a pot washer in the kitchen. Until he is retrained in his inter personality skills. He could not handle the busy pub and food orders.

Had a great evening with good friends. My sausages and mash with crispy onions were delicious, the sticky toffee pudding yummy, and the liqueur latte was smooth and delicious. Thank you Daryl and team for looking after us extremely well

Visited here midweek and we all opted for the lunchtime special menu(available Monday to Thursday). All food was well prepared, hot and tasty. Portion sizes were good. We will return.

Booked a table same day - at the very last minute - at 20:30 for 21:00, and they were able to accommodate 4 of us with our dog! No problem! We've visited in April when they reopened. Today decided to come back for our first Sunday roast after lockdown. Lovely food, beef was tender, pork belly cooked perfectly, a huge portion of veg coming on the side. Service was very friendly. Highly recommend!

We we had a lovely meal. Calamari for starters which was tasty. Pork belly and the duo if lamb were sooooo good. The men's toilets were a lot to be desired eg 1cubicle open with no lock, toilet paper dispenser broken and toilet paper on the floor, soap dispenser broken. We spoke to the manager about it letting the pub down but his hands were tied as he had to wait for someone to come and not allowed to fix himself.It spoilt a really good evening. Would be better to shut it down and let me use the disabled loo.The staff were great though. Thank you hillside for our first meal out after lockdown x

Went here on Friday 14/05/21. Seated outside in accordance Covid restrictions. Ordered onion rings and chips with two drinks. Food appeared very quickly having been freshly made. Very tasty and worth the money. Unfortunately my cask ale was not available so the manager very kindly volunteered to offer me another pint, complimentary! Excellent service recovery and staff very helpful. Mention must be made of Leah. Note that you are unable to leave a tip using a gift card. Will be back once indoor dining becomes available.

We've been using the Hillside for decades, and have had some really good times, but yesterdays Christmas Dinner was dreadful. A plate one third full of greens, some soft roast potatoes, a limp parsnip, and a couple of slices of turkey draped over the top, and plastered in gravy (not optional) with a tiny pot of cranberry sauce on the side.No stuffing, no sausage meat, no pigs in blankets, no happy Christmas, and still the same poker-faced miserable idiot of a manager who should have sacked after last new years debacle (another story). This guy does not understand an occasion.

Booked a table in advance as it was my partners birthday and put a request in for a specific table. I had confirmation of booking and was disappointed to find out this had not been taken into account on arrival.We ended up on small table for two which was ok but dampened the evening as i asked specifically for this table a few weeks before.....In fairness we were offered another table but this was a table that was far too big for the two of us up the other end of the pub.The meal was very nice and service was excellent.The christmas pud was served with custard instead of brandy sauce but apart from that was very nice.Would have been five stars has they not listened to the birthday request filled in on booking which was most disappointing.

Visited the Hillside Inn today with family of 5, great price and great food! 4 of us had the prawns for starter which were cooked beautifully, unfortunately one of our party only had 4 instead of 5 prawns but the waitress was lovely and got the missing prawn cooked and served straight away! We were only have a laugh about it but our waitress Georgia was amazing! The main meal was great we all had something different and we all loved it, left with full happy tummy’s! Thank you to the kitchen for the great food and thank you to Georgia for the great service!

My family attended The Hillside Inn in October 2020 and had a fantastic meal, Kris our waiter was polite, attentive and very professional, he was happy to talk with us and explain any questions we had. The food as always was amazing and such great quality. All the staff are friendly, polite and very welcoming. We look forward to coming back.

A great find. We had been out for a walk locally and fancied a spot of late lunch before returning back to London. Not knowing the area particularly well I did a quick search on Trip Advisor for a pub lunch. The hillside came up and it don't disappoint. The menu was full of the usual pub favourites, the staff really friendly and jolly, plus they welcomed our dog like he was one of the family. The meals came quickly and were piping hot - just what we needed after being out in the cold. All in all a really lovely pub and a great place for an unpretentious meal and catch up. (PS The wines, while not earth shattering in quality were great value for money. And the traditional ales were fantastic)
