What a wonderful surprise after 20 years of saying, “We must try that place”. Generous portions doesn’t really define the quality, flavours and variety that arrived before us. My wife had the chicken shish that had all the depth of flavours you would hope for in Greece or Turkey with the smokiness of the charcoal grill infused with herbs and lemon! 5 star shish. The BBQ Ephesus Special is a riot of meats - nothing short of cornucopia of flavours and textures all perfectly cooked. The mixed salad made the perfect accompaniment. This is a gem of a restaurant - do it!

The new Turkish owner seems bent on making this place a plastic golf putting range out back in the garden and forgotten that his income should come from Turkish inspired food. We were seated in the garden and occasionally a member of staff came to if we needed anything. The drinks are way overpriced, and the food is bland and tasteless. I managed to discover parts of the plastic wrapper the salad arrives in dished up on my plate. The older garden furniture needs maintenance but the newer stuff looks pretty good, but no cushions.

Outstanding food and excellent service. We ate here on the evening of Halloween and the staff couldn’t have made us feel more welcome. Everyone was lovely and friendly with our young daughter even giving her a Halloween treat bag to take home. We had the cold mixed mezze and chicken kebab to share with garlic bread and it was all delicious! On leaving we were shown to the door and given hand sanitizer. We would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back one day!

Three of sus hared a starters platter and a couple of main courses. Everything was delicious if a little salty (but then I don't salt my food) and staff could not have been more friendly of helpful. A table nearby had a large family group sharing various platters, so obviously popular. Couple of minutes walk from Sandford House Hotel ('Spoons) and adjacent to excellent Falcon Tavern, an old coaching inn.

Just been here for lunch with my friend, who had purchased a Groupon for £39 - supposedly representing a 50% discount. This was for '2 course meal with wine for 2 people'. What a joke!! We decided to skip the starter (we were offered 2 choices of starter, which on the menu would have cost £4.80), saying that we would prefer to have main course and a dessert. We were offered 4 choices of main course (though the printed menu was extensive and very interesting). This was the Chefs special - roast chicken, chicken casserole, hummus and falafel or vegetable curry. On the printed menu this would have cost £8.80. We were given a small glass of wine each. I must say, my vegetable curry was delicious! When we asked what options of dessert we could choose we were told that this was not an option, and that the deal only covered a starter plus a main course - this was not stipulated anywhere on the Groupon description - nor did the waiter choose to inform us of this when we were ordering, and discussing the idea of main and dessert with him. So - for £39 we had eaten £8.80 worth of food each (£19.60) plus 2 small glasses of house wine (the menu doesn't show a price for wine by the glass, but I really don't think that would come to £10 per glass as a whole bottle of house wine is £15.49!) We discussed dissatisfaction with both the waiter and the manager, but they were unable to she'd any light on the matter, except to blame the problem on Groupon!! I REALLY CANNOT RECCOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT - WE HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!!! AVOID!!

Had dinner here on a Saturday evening. One vegetarian and one meat eater. Very satisfying and tasty food. Big portions. Loads of choice for vegetarians. Great value for money. There was a complaint from another table about the service, but we had no issues (they also complained that the salad was raw, so clearly having one of those nights when everything was wrong). Highly recommended.

Excellent starter, set up the taste buds for the mixed platter of chicken & lamb which made for a really good tuck in. I wanted to take my fiancée for a really nice romantic meal and had heard great things about this place. We both absolutely love Mediterranean and Turkish style food so were really excited about trying it out for Date Night. Now, we always find the best way to judge this type of restaurant is on their Hot (as in temperature) Meze Platter. It's a little bit of everything and really showcases what the place can do. Squid rings, sausage, grilled halloumi, meatballs, cheese pastries etc. all give a great indication of the chef's prowess and the quality of the other delicacies available. So firstly we ordered drinks. My fiancée ordered an orange juice and was given an orange squash (for £2.00!). I took it back for exchange and was told this WAS orange juice and that's all they had. So she settled for a glass of tap water. The waiter insisted that their orange juice came from a carton and said he'd bring it over to prove it - strangely that didn't happen. Next came the Meze for two. What can I say. Grim. Just grim. We were so hungry but just struggled. We sampled most of the various deep fried shapes of food but all just tasted of old cooking oil and salt. We were so disappointed. I didn't even recognise some of the things on the plate and I've had Mezes from all over the world. No olives, no houmous, no bread - the waiter did say he'd bring us some bread (which would have been welcome) but then a party of six came into the restaurant and we were forgotten. Once again, we both really wanted to like this place and support a local business - I've been following them on FB and the food always looks amazing, so I can only assume we caught them on a bad day when, perhaps, the oil needed changing in the deep fat fryer? So we just paid the bill and left. That was £22.85 and 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back. As a footnote: Most of the bars and restaurants in Huntingdon have really upped their game to compete with the new Wetherspoons. Best of luck Hill Ephesus Restaurant!

Very busy on Saturday evening which surprised my son who has never been before. Took order for food quickly and drinks brought quickly however starters took a little time to arrive. The staff kept coming to see us to apologise and keep us up to date on what was happening. The starters arrived and they were delicious. The main course took longer to arrive but again we never felt that we had been forgotten as we were kept up to date but having had the generous starters we were not in a huge hurry. The main courses arrived and everyone commented on how delicious they were. Throughout the evening the place was packed and the staff were brilliant. Great atmosphere and is now my favourite place to eat in Huntingdon

Have been here on several occasions and have always had fantastic food. I lived in Turkey for a few years and so probably am a bit picky so it was wonderful to find somewhere that serves great Turkish food. It's fresh, tasty, the meat is always really juicy and the service from Artur is always friendly. Went again yesterday for my son's 11th Birthday - his choice out of all the restaurants and chains on offer - and they went the extra mile and put decorations on the table, played some music and helped us with the cake which we had brought. A great option for families and groups as they have good veggie options, the grilled meats are good for kids and there are spicy options for those that want. Great value and good for trying things with various sharing options for mains and mixed meze to start. And for those who aren't adventurous there is an optional standard menu as it is a regular cafe in the day. If I could give it 11 out of 10 I would :-)

We went this week with a Groupon deal (£18 for two courses + glass of wine each). We phoned ahead to book the table and advised that we were Groupon customers, which was met a slightly exasperated sigh. The same sort of passive-aggressive vibe was there when we arrived. We weren’t given menus at all (more on this later). We were verbally given a couple of options for starters/mains and the food arrived quickly and it was okay. We both had lamb casserole with rice and it wasn’t particularly spicy or interesting but filled a hole. We also bought a bottle of wine, feeling kinda guilty about our cheap deal, but with hindsight we wished we hadn’t as it prolonged our stay where the atmosphere felt slightly hostile. Now, here’s the thing; I use Groupon as a marketing tool for my own business. So I know how it works. Groupon take around 40% revenue share (if you’re paying more lads, I’d renegotiate asap), so in this instance the Hill Cafe & Bistro probably get around £10.80 back from our £18 deal. So with food costs, staff and all associated costs of running the restaurant, it’s probably a break-even venture or perhaps even loss-making. But that’s okay, because the whole point of Groupon as a marketing tool is that it drives people into your business, who have a pleasurable experience, tell friends & family, and return next time as full-paying customers. Hill Cafe & Bistro don’t seem to get the concept. In my experience, they treat their Groupon customers poorly. And they’re missing a really obvious trick by not trying to upsell those same Groupon customers with additional sides, desserts, coffee, drinks etc etc). They never asked if we wanted anything else aside from our pre-paid two courses and we were never once shown a menu. Now, how am I supposed to recommend the place to friends & family if I’ve no idea what food they serve and at what prices, aside from the two dishes we had?I’m just baffled by the whole experience. They either need to kill the Groupon deal or embrace it for the great marketing tool it is and treat those customers a whole lot better.

It was a really good decision. The coffee was strong and with a hint of bitterness, but without being harsh and unpalatable. I was in the area so went to check the place out before buying a Groupon voucher and was impressed by the extensive menu options. Not eating meat, I thought I'd be well served by all the mezze items which I usually love. However, on the night I was asked whether I wanted moussaka "because that's the only option". Hmm, that'll be moussaka then. Yes, it seemed home-made, was very nice, and was accompanied by good veggies, but we're in the 21st century - how about treating non meat-eating diners to at least two options? I wouldn't go back due to the lack of choice.

If the Groupon Deal is meant to advertise and draw people in who then decide based on their experience, that its worth another visit, then it did its job. The only think I would say that I found it a tiny bit too oily for my liking, but thats probably personal taste. Very enjoyable. We had Tzatziki and Humus followed by Lamb Kofte and meat mousakka with a glass of red wine each (also pretty nice as house reds can be a bit grim)Also I'd suggest if you aren't sure, then take a look at their online menu before you visit. This place is a Turkish Restaurant now known as the Hill Ephesus Restaurant. It is right in the centre of Huntingdon on Market Square – and next door to the Falcon Tavern – a place full of history and fine craft beers. We stopped in for a dinner as a group of friends. The waiter was extremely friendly, bought us our drinks promptly and took our food order. Starters were a range of Halloumi, Sucuk (Sauasge) , Hummus and taramasalata. We opted for the Set meal for four which came as a mountainous plate of grilled meats, vegetables on a bed of rice. The meat was all beautifully cooked and tender – the chicken wings are my personal favourite.Wine and beer were reasonably priced (for a restaurant!) – alhtoguh I do think they need to reconsider the Efes Draft they sell – in a bottle. Something got lost in translation I think. A great place for a meal with old friends and good times.

Went here on a whim. We are so glad we went. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. I had a Yoghurtlu kebab and it was D-licious. The portions were massive! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. We went away feeling stuffed. Would definitely go back - highly recommended.

Renamed Hill Ephesus, this is now Turkish restaurant with great good and in my opinion now serves better Turkish food than it's St Neots counterpart. Not cheap for the big and complex dishes, but you can find some good lunch values on the menu. Clean place, and discreet staff. The music was a bit strange-- rap-- but otherwise a nice if slightly worn décor. Bottom line, food is great and that's probably why you go to restaurants!

Very friendly waiter who has great banter with his clientele. If you like Turkish food this place is brilliant - tasty, wholesome and full of flavour. We had the mixed hot starters - followed by one mixed grill and a slow roasted lamb knuckle. The Merlot wine was smooth and good value for money. Baklava was moist and crunchy a perfect ending to a relaxed diner.

We have now been to this restaurant on many occasions both for lunch (not the standard lunch menu, the Med meals) and evening meals. We have lived and worked in the Med and this is the best food we have had to represent the experience we had over there. The chef, Mustapha, often comes up with some special dishes prepared by his wife, the food is outstanding and the staff superb. Nothing is too much trouble. They have recently improved the overall look of the restaurant which is in keeping with the Med effect. I cannot praise this venue highly enough. I only wish that it will maintain it's friendly family feel and continue to supply the excellent food.

We have been here quite a few times. Personally they don't concentrate on the Turkish/Greek enough here at Lunchtime. They have a large selection of the typical 'greasy' spoon stuff. We had the set menu starter kebab and drink for £10. The starters were fantastic, the bread not so much. The Kofte arrived at the table half raw and was barely what I called' charcoaled'. I did send it back and it came back cooked. The food is OK not amazing but maybe I have been spoiled by the fab kebab houses in Wood Green.....

Visited around 5.30pm so in between day and evening services. Given the choice from both menus. Unfortunately after the main course was served the waiter broke a glass whilst serving a beer. We were moved to another table and all food and drinks renewed and a free desert given with the offer of a further free drink, owner very apologetic. Food was fresh and tasty, we will visit again.

Called in here for an evening meal. Large open spaces and attentive staff. The food was 'nice'. Not overly spiced. In fact it could have gone further for my taste. Large enough servings - and fresh. There were not may people there the evening I went - so I felt all eyes were on my. I was offered tea - and a snack while I waited. Very friendly. The furniture looked a bit dated - and I do like lower lighting, but that is just me. It was a good meal - but not in the 'special' category. Not a place for a romantic night out - but a good place to stop off for a decent meal.I would go back.

We have eaten at this restaurant twice and ordered takeout once, and we have been pleased with each of our experiences. The staff are super friendly and the food is good. The decor inside is much nicer than what you would expect from the outside. My husband particularly liked the specials that he ordered, a stew, and a meatball-type dish. My 18 y.o. son was a little disappointed at the portion size of the lamb kebab he ordered, but then he is an 18 y.o. boy and is looking for something the size of a whole pizza to fill him. My only disappointment was that I ordered mint tea and when it was brought to me, it turned out to be mint tea in a teabag. I was hoping for the fresh mint kind. To be fair, I will just need to ask them next time to see if it is available.

Very quiet on the night I visited, so can't really comment on atmosphere but the surroundings were pleasant. Quite a few vegetarian options so went for one of those and it was delicious. Also had a glass of good wine which was very reasonably priced and most main meals were less than £10. Service also good and attentive.

The food here is delightful, It felt like I was in Turkey on holiday. The waiters and waitresses were pleasant and friendly, we all felt very welcome. The prices of the food are worth it as you get what you pay for (too much in fact). We were all stuffed & fulfilled.

Popped in here twice for a casual lunch and the staff were very friendly on both occasions. We all had something different to eat - soup, full English breakfast, humus and falafel, and all was very tasty. The only reason for four stars was that two of my colleagues said their soup was tepid - I had lentil soup the next day and asked for it to be piping hot - it was delicious.

We went here as it is local and good choice.I had build my own breakfast only downside was that I couldn't have gluten free toast They took my fried eggs as I had asked for poached these came back and were over cooked. My boyfriend had a full English. The toast came out first so it got cold while waiting for our breakfasts and the beans where cold towards the end.The waiter was good value as we could have a laugh with him.Overall it was good but could be better

We are originally lived in East London and used to good turkish food but the chef at this bistro is a class apart. The food is beautiful - tasty and healthy, the ingredients are so fresh, nothing isn't home made. You can just tell. The flavours are wonderful and the chef is happy to change his dishes to make them spicy or not spicy at all. The meat is great and the turkish bread to die for. If you are in Huntingdon this is restaurant is an absolute must. We are locals and average 2 visits per week. It is also great value for money because the chef will give you a doggy bag which is enough for another meal for 2 the next day!

After reading all the positive reviews we decided to go in for a meal. The staff were very pleasant, took our orders and less than 5 minutes later our food was produced. Great, if you're in McDonalds, but not when you expect freshly cooked food. I've been to Turkey and Greece plenty of times and recognised the food on the menu being from both countries, so was naturally intrigued to sample a wide range. To be frank, it was as though frozen wholesale food had been warmed up. I imagine batches of food had been made earlier in the day and reheated as and when needed. Sadly it really did taste 'out of a packet'. Such a shame as the staff were very nice, perhaps a bit too over bearing/attentive, but nice none the less. Obviously we wont be going again. It looks like Pizza Express is still king of this high street.

My wife and I had delayed giving this restaurant try as, despite a pleasing outward appearance and location, it always looks a bit stark and brightly lit inside. However, watching Rick Stein (Venice to Istanbul) has given me the desire for some Turkish cuisine, and we decided to give it a whirl. Glad we did. The food was extremely good; we both had the Lamb Shish kebab which was beautifully cooked and served with rice, excellent sauces and a very tasty salad with a great dressing. We both enjoyed the House White which went superbly with the food. I then had the baclava with ice cream, which was one of the best desserts I have eaten in a long, long while. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming, and were very attentive without being over-bearing or pushy. We rounded off the meal with a cappuccino and I had to have a turkish coffee (pow!)I am definitely going again soon and will highly recommend this little gem to all my friends........But I hope the proprietor has the confidence to embrace his own culture and give the atmosphere some authenticity. The menu is presented too much like a bus/train Station cafe and does not food the food justice. The restaurant is just too stark and white, and I really wanted to feel that I had been to a little slice of Turkey to match the personality of the staff and the food. It can only be the atmosphere that is stopping this little gem from being busier. Both my wife and I can't wait to go again though to try the rest of the menu.

Having lived and worked for years in the Med, this food is by far the best we have had in this country. The restaurant caters for all types of food but anyone who is familiar with Mediterranean dishes are in for a treat. Several dishes are made by the family and have the utmost authenticity. The service is outstanding and the chef always willing to point out dishes that his wife has prepared. I cannot speak highly enough of the food and always look forward to my visits. We are priviliged to have this food available locally.

This newly opened restaurant is located in the Market Square of Huntingdon, right next door to The Falcon Tavern. We booked a table for four as we were taking my son and his girlfriend out for a meal. The layout is excellent with pavementside tables to enjoy during the day, a frontage/conservatory style room where we had our table and a rear restaurant, set out like those in Paris and the continent. The waiting staff were all really friendly and inviting and the authentic Turkish Cuisine was most enjoyable. The portions were extremely generous and there was more than enough food to satisfy even the largest of appetites.I think the bill was reasonable, given that it was a 3 course meal for four with no limitations on drinks. So £106 devided by four is not that steep at all.I would easily recommend this very good and friendly restaurant if you are a lover of Mediterranean/Turkish Cuisine.
