Crap if you have a dog as not allowed inside. Everywhere says don't feed the birds but morons feed the frigging birds. Before id got to the table starlings were drinking milk off my tray. Stupid thing is more dog people than non dog people go there so sort yourselves out and allow dogs inside. Machine coffee so a bit like weatherspoons but pricier won't go back

A regular cafe spot on Hengistbury Head. Food choices are good. Counter, canteen style, service. Usually there space inside. But also lots of benches outside. Separate ice cream hatch in the summer.

After walking our dog on the beach we decided to pop in to grab a coffee. I don't normally bother to eat out as I am coeliac. Glanced at the menu and ordered a tuna and cheese gluten free toastie. It was amazing and I even got offered brown seeded or white bread. My husband enjoyed his bacon roll but for me this was a brilliant experience. Thank you so much.

Came here on Friday late afternoon with my Father. Very nice views from the window seats in the cafe. Ordered a cappucinno, which was very well made to suit my liking. Had a flapjack, which was tasty as well. The only downside was that it was very busy that day, so perhaps they had run out of cakes, as all there was available was apple pie and flapjacks. I did arrive at around 4.00pm that day, so an hour before closing. The staff that day were very polite and very helpful; they really went out of their way to fulfill any particular requests we had.

Totally forget about this place but it really was good today. So different to paying stupid prices for sub-standard food at most other places in the area. Had jacket potato with stilton and mushrooms - there was so many mushrooms it was mad. Lovely salad with it. The menu is good and everything seems reasonable. Looking forward to trying breakfast here. Went for walk after with dog to nearby beach, remembered how lucky we are to live here.

After a good couple of hours walking it’s a good place to refresh and refuel before heading onward. We had the latte frappe and a slice of white chocolate topped brownie. Both were incredibly tasty. The place was really busy but the staff were working their socks off and keeping up with demand. It was a little bit pricey but that’s expected being the only refreshments in a tourist hotspot. If you sit outside like we did, don’t be surprised if you make some feathered friends. The local birds are very brave and will come right up to you for a crumb or two. The area is dog friendly but dogs are not permitted inside the cafe.

Looked at their menu for food after our enjoyable yet tiring day at the beach and the trail, and we really fancied a traditional fish and chips but they didnt have it, so we had to drive into Boscombe town to get and bring back to eat on the beach (also, most fish and chip shops in this area are closed between 2pm-5pm). We had ice cream but there was no raspberry/chocolate sauces to go on the flakes, however service was nice. 2-Dec-24: Visited for a delicious warm scone with clotted cream & jam and a pot of tea. The scones are huge and delicious, with generous servings of both cream and jam. Tea is in those small metal teapots and I wish they'd do larger, china pots, as that'd be great improvement. The day we went was freezing cold and foggy so it wasn't as busy as it usually is: on good weather days it's usually packed. Definitely recommend for good range of food, clean & tidy cafe, great location, and service with a smile. Would benefit from tables being cleaned more often sometimes.

Fair prices for a cafe in a tourist hot spot that has no nearby competition. For a while there were nearly as many staff behind the counter as customers in front. The food is fantastic , large portions and everything is quality and to me seems homemade , we’ve just had a sneaky overnight and did the walk both days just because of this cafe . The salads are so tasty and very filling . The cake’s are delicious but you’ll need an appetite to finish off a slice that big , you may have to queue but it’s well worth it . At lunchtime on a very sunny mild day (11 December 2023), I called in at the Hiker Cafe at Hengistbury Head, Christchurch, Dorset. I was at Hengistbury Head for a walk and hadn't intended to eat lunch as I diet on Monday and Tuesdays because of all the restaurant meals I eat. But, as it was just after 1pm, I decided to pop into Hiker Cafe and try their baked potato - a small modest snack surely? Not so! I ordered the baked potato option which came with cheddar cheese and salad garnish and took the tray with my pot of tea to one of the table to await my snack. Incidentally, tea is served in an actual teapot with separate milk and I got almost three cups from the pot (a proper cup and saucer too; not plastic-lined cardboard). The Hiker Cafe was almost full - that is always a good sign. It was also spotlessly clean including the big windows which gave a good view of Hengistbury Head and of a few Cotswold Lion sheep grazing on the banks of the old defensive double dykes. When my snack arrived I was amazed. It came on a big silver oval dish and had a silver pot containing delicious cheddar cheese (just the right flavour too - not too strong and not too mild); another silver pot containing the coleslaw; a pipping hot baked potato; butter and a large mixed salad. Excellent! It took me a full 20 minutes to eat this delicious and nourishing snack. The day before (Sunday 10 December) I'd had a restaurant meal in Oxford (the Folly on Folly Bridge) and I have to say I enjoyed my 'snack' at Hiker Cafe more. In my opinion, Hiker Cafe is a very well-run cafe with good efficient staff and a proprietor(s) who knows how to deliver excellently-presented meals. It deserves some kind of award for good value.

Although it was getting close to closing time we were treated to a lovely cream tea with a decent sized pot of tea. Weather on the day was not condusive to being outside, however there was plenty of outside eating space with views of the river. I would expect plenty of activity on the river in the warmer months.
