I was embarrassed for tourists coming here thinking it was representative of a Scottish restaurant. We arrived after a long drive and anticipated having a sandwich and coffee! It was 2pm and the food was finished, no sandwiches and no cakes!!!! The person working on the till also had to make the coffee and was required to leave the till while he did so, which resulted in long queues! We required to use the toilet when there, my husband had to queue for a long time to use the disabled toilet as this was the only toilet working since the gents were out of order! The ladies toilets were very poor with toilet paper littering the floor. According to the check board hanging on the door it had been checked only in the morning! I was so annoyed I spoke to the manager who told me that they had had 14 coaches in that day so the mess in the toilet was to be expected and also that they had no food in the restaurant! The excuse of a bank holiday was also used. Bank Holidays happen throughout the year! No excuses, it was obvious that more staff should be employed! Will be avoiding in the future and will not be recommending to others!!!!! Extremely poor!

Hungry on our travels we called in here. More a tourist trap targeting coach tours etc., than a real restaurant but the food was good if a little on the bleak side. Hot meals served behind a counter from warming trays but nourishing enough. Sandwiches and soft drinks from cabinets. You get tea or coffee at check out. Simple enough for English speakers but we noted some confusion with some overseas guests which the staff dealt with in a friendly manner. By and large a decent enough place for sustenance but for a real dining experience we would seek somewhere else.

On a high from fine dining further north, we stopped off here for lunch on our way south. Not knowing Fort William very well it looked like a good place to park easily. That was true, unfortunately the appearance of the lunch under the hot lights on offer looked most unappealing. I took a scone and a decaf coffee, my wife soup and tea. Scone was huge and hard going. Decaf coffee awful. My wife left her soup, saying only that there had been too much. The "scottish-ness" of the decor and music is just a bit OTT. Really tacky and tasteless. The service was, at the most, polite. I thought we had outgrown this.

The hot food looked horribly unappetising with grey/brown peas, what looked like regurgitated mac & cheese, sludge for beef pie and dehydrated baked beans. How this place gets by I honestly don't know. We stopped as we were passing through and were faint from hunger. Despite being so hungry we ended up settling for cheese and crackers with a tea as these were the only foods wrapped and (one hopes) clean. Avoid.

My husband ordered breaded fish and chips for lunch. He was served what appeared to be half a fillet of fish. The fillet had been cut in half lengthways and portion size was totally inadequate. Smallest fish we have ever seen and would never dine here again.

Very busy when we arrived, but staff were obliging. Food offer limited, but what else would you expect at these prices? Sandwiches fresh and tasty and tea was excellent. Exactly what we needed in the middle of a long car journey. Plus plenty of parking, nice warm seating area. And a lovely shop too. All in all, highly recommend this as a stopping off place.

A full cooked Scottish breakfast for £3.00! Could not believe the generosity of the meal. We went there twice during our 4 day stay. The setting is good and restaurant light and airy. There is a comprehensive feature description of the history and geology of the area on one if the walls. The shop itself is an Aladdin cave of Highland interest with everything you could want.

Extremely poor customer service. No toilet paper in the toilets the lady cleaning when advised just shrugged her shoulders. Waiting in a queue for the food one of us went to get a table as they had injured themselves on our trip and was told they could not take a table until they had got their food. Extremely rude staff all round. We chose to leave. See there was a google review ten months ago about their rude staff. Appears nothing much has changed. Underwhelmed and unimpressed

The Steak Pie was very nice, packed full of quality meat - more than could be finished! The Macaronic cheese and Garlic Bread was also very tasty and a huge plate full! The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and polite, the only down side was that there seemed to not be enough staff and they were rushed off their feet, so the tables that needed clearing weren't getting done.

If you want to wait in a massive queue, for an absolute age, for the pleasure of parting with your money for some food, then stop here! I stopped at the Highland Centre Restaurant for nostalgic reasons but oh how I wish I had read Trip Advisor beforehand.I'm now an ex-pat and was back visiting my homeland. I wanted to show my wife and kids the place where my parents used to stop during the many journeys I did as a child from the central belt up to the Highlands. All we wanted was a tea, coffee, a few tray bakes and some juice, but it took about 20 minutes (I wish I had timed it) for my wife to return with the tray of goodies. All the while, I had to entertain 4 lively children.Firstly, we arrived at a bad time; a bus load of tourists had arrived, who wanted to get their eats and get back on their bus by a certain time. I do hope those poor people did, as the shockingly poor/slow service wouldn't have helped them. There was one poor lady serving on the tills, meanwhile a lengthening queue of irate customers was forming. Confusion broke out amongst the tourists as some people had to wait for hot food to be cooked and served by what looked like invisible staff. Meanwhile, other irate tourists were berating other irate tourists who simply wanted to move up the queue and pay for their pre-made sandwich and packet of crisps. What a poor show indeed Highland Centre Restaurant. My suggestions: #1 open a second till#2 don't let people waiting for hot food block up the whole canteen area and stop people from passing (how about some sort of ticketing system?)#3 employee someone to police the queue in busy times, directing those with their items to the checkout#4 tell the lady, who insists on constantly clearing and wiping tables (despite 75% of the tables being free and clean) to jump in behind the counter and start cooking some foodPity help this restaurant during busy times. On the plus side, my son bought what he thought was a hilarious "See you Jimmy" hat in the touristy-trap shop on the way out.

Four of us went into the centre before we went on the Jacobite Train trip.As some one else has said its a tacky tourist shop but has a large restaurant. The breakfasts are very reasonable with 6 items for £3 up to 12 items for £6The queue at the self service food bar was a fair length and there was one poor serving lady having to work as fast as she could. There was a shortage of foodstuffs and a chef was constantly trying to fill the trays but people were having to wait for eggs etc.Once we had our plates there was a further queue for the till where the lady there had to also make the tea , coffee etc, meaning that when we got to our table the food was cold.A member of staff did say they were short staffed. The food was ok but would have been better hotter. The area is popular with tourists and we should be putting on a better show than this

Popped in on a Friday morning to have breakfast (11am), there were signs everywhere for the £3 Breakfast but guess what? They had a choice of Bacon or Sausage Bap! We were told there was no chef and therefore no other options. My wife is a vegetarian, so I asked if they could do an egg bap, the answer was No again as they hadn't got a chef. I was then told if we wanted a breakfast it would be worth trying Morrisons cafe! A strange place.

From walking in to a wall of knitwear and soundtrack of twee fiddle music all of the appropriate clichés had been ticked, so it was no surprise to find the food bland and overcooked served by bored and uninterested staff.Tasteless Mac and cheese, microwave baked potato with processed cheese, all delivered at a price you will frown about all day.How can so many garden centres get the mix of local goods and great food, and tourist stops like this get it so wrong?

The restaurant staff is very rude and make the customers feel unwelcome. Even when the customer smiles and try to talk, they keep a very straight face and make you feel embarrassed for being friendly. The staff needs customer service training and just need to treat tourists with some respect, and not think that the tourists are not repeat customers, so the restaurant have the right to treat customers, like animals. Its a canteen style restaurant, so the service is only when they serve food at the counter, still its very bad. Even when you are eating, they stare at you when they walk pass your table. Dont know why!, because they dont serve anything to the table, you have to buy and pay at the counter first. I wanted to leave as quickly as possible and would never go back there.

The food sits in the Bain Marie for an eternity, so we chose jacket potatoes. But these were awful too - microwaved to destruction & served with plastic pre-grated "cheese".Staff seemed to view customers as an unwelcome distraction from their idle chats (whilst seated at a vacant table in the customer seating area).Whilst it's cheap, you'll probably be disappointed too.....

This is a buffet style, but £3 for 6 items is a good price and the food was ok, traditional cooked breakfast, nothing offensive about it. However, the food was chosen and plated quickly and we then waited a while before we could order drinks so food was getting cold and the lady on the till was really slow, there was only 1 customer in front of us but we still had to wait ages to pay. In fact the toast we ordered was ready and the lady who was taking it to the table for us was a bit surprised to see us in the queue still!! Get some staff training or a better system in place if you want to compete with Morrisons breakfast, and you would do really well here.
