It was a delight to drop in here for a light lunch, after the bedlam of Christmas shoppers in the city centre. It was quiet, pleasant decor, well-presented, modestly-priced, tasty soup with quiche and salad and efficient and friendly service. Although it was a treat to be away from the crowds, it seems a pity that more people weren’t there to appreciate it.

¡Me siento a salvo!

Agradable, personal amable.

For Coeliacs, this is a dream foodie place. The cook is coeliac and completely understands the condition, treats every meal with the same professional standard and even caters for me being both Coeliac AND Vegetarian! On top of that, she even made her fabulous, amazingly chocolatey Rocky road bars which are both for 'ordinary' eaters and another separate bar for coeliacs. The staff are super-friendly and have become friends with us over the time. I wouldn't eat anywhere else with such confidence.

Lovely food, and really doesn’t feel like it is in the middle of a town at the bus station! Nice service and atmosphere.

It's always great to visit this cafe. The staff are very friendly and the food is great quality at great prices - a very varied menu including Gluten Free. We go often and it's comfortable, relaxed and thoroughly pleasant.

Staff very welcoming. Tea for two and bacon rolls in a relaxing friendly environment were just what was needed to satisfy the appetite and refresh the soul. Excellent range of home baking as well as snacks and light meals.

Following a course in the spectrum centre I went for lunch with a work associate in the hidden gem cafe. It was amazing, the food and service were brilliant, and the atmosphere was lovely, family friendly and welcoming. You would never have thought it was right next to a busy bus station! Lovely :)

They weren’t lying when they called this place “Hidden Gem”; it’s both a gem and it’s hidden. There’s only a board outside to draw your attention to the place, and when you go through the doors to the building, the cafe is still not obvious. But once you get in, it’s lovely. The centre of Inverness is all hustle and bustle, especially near the two main transport hubs of the railway and bus station. Neither has a good cafe, so with this place being within a short walk of the railway and right on the bus station, it’s a perfect stop. It’s in a kind of theatre complex – obviously working and doing some interesting things – so it has a nice feel about it. They do the usual tea and coffee – soya as an alternative to milk too, if you want it. The cakes are lovely and they offer gluten free options. There’s a menu of snacks which appear to be freshly prepared for you. We didn’t since we were in for a cup of tea, but they looked very nice. The tea was very good, a decent teapot and good cups - makes a change! The room is large and airy, in two areas – a more formal seating area with tables and a large area with comfy sofas too. The room has a lovely spacious feel about it. If you are in the centre of Inverness, or if you’re changing trains at Inverness station and have some time to kill (often the case since the trains rarely connect well) then take the short walk through to the bus station and you’ll find the place right opposite the library. Do give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

Located adjacent to the bus station, the hidden gem is the easiest of 4 nearby cafes to overlook, but the one with the most reasonable prices. Baked potatos are worth having😃👍🏻

Having just got off the bus after a longish journey we followed a friend's recommendation and after looking around a bit we found the Hidden Gem. It's in a community Centre and has the look of a community centre cafeteria however the food was great and the staff very friendly. Really cheap, great value. We had soup to warm us after a freezing journey and it did just that. Bacon rolls with cheese....delicious. Well worth the visit, we'll be back

There are a number of choices for snacks in the Inverness Bus Station area (Charlies, Ashers and Hidden gem). The latter is my favourite as it is clean, good seating and reasonable prices. It has an area for the amusement of children, toilets within the centre and a good view of the buses coming in/out, if awaiting one. Although the half nearest the window/buses is raised (a couple of feet) there is a mini lift as well as the steps (for those with mobility problems). Their daily soup or sandwich/soup is worth a try. having very the homemade flavours and in the case of the second, a generous side salad.

Won't be back the owner is so rude . If you pay for drinks in a pub hotel . You expect a thank you. Total anti children our three year old was chatting and we Heard the owners rude comment about him . Also we took her seat . The poor lass who runs hand and foot for this person is so friendly it's the only reason we stayed so long . Won't be back and won't recommend to any of our family and friends that visit the port . Maybe someone will take over the Caledonian and make it a hotel and pub again . We have been visiting the port for 40 years and haven't experienced the unfriendly signal we got from the castle hotel .

What a fantastic find on our recent visit to Inverness. Brilliant wee cafe with extremely friendly staff. Great menu and selection of fresh cakes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and to top it all they are doggy friendly which meant we didn’t need to leave our 14yr old pooch in the car. Would definitely recommend a visit.
