Heworth Chinese Takeaway in York

in the past I've recommended the food from here. however, tonight I had king prawns in ok sauce, which were like bullets, so tough and chewy, we also had chicken satay skewers which were so over cooked they were dry and stringy. the crispy chilli chicken was so crispy you couldn't eat it. so disappointed over £30 down the drain. won't be going again

portion so big and so good, staff so kind too. can’t wait to revisit again! best chinese in york! Best dishes are their salt and pepper mega box!!

I don’t know how many times they had re-heated the Chips But they were Terrible. As Dry as an old Flip Flop. Honestly - Save your Money.

We have had some nice meals from here but the last three deliveries have been utterly terrible yes we have given them 3 chances to put it right but no more after tonight. Got the delivery missed half of it off and the duck was that hard and dried up couldn't cut it even with a steak knife. Not good enough

Ordered nearly £50 worth of takeaway from here at 6.30, was told an hour and half,2 hours later still not arrived,so we rang, it arrive 20 mins later, clap cold and some missing,use this takeaway quite often during the year, but will be spending my money elsewhere

We visit York every year now with family for a few days and this Chinese takeaway is just minutes down the road . We ordered a mixture of food to share and couldn’t believe how much food you get for your money, the food was amazing and cannot fault it as it’s got to be one of the best Chinese we have had for a very long time . We will definitely use them again on our next stay in York.

Waited 1 hour 20 minutes food was barely warm didnt taste of much it was very greasy including the prawn toast needless to say it got wasted

I've been going here since the owners changed & I can safely say after numerous visits that this Chinese is the best (of many) I have tried in York.In addition, the chips here are absolutely fantastic & I would recommend that you go for them, instead of the boiled rice, that you recieve as the complimentary option on most dishes.

Nos alojamos en el Layerthorpe Travelodge por un par de noches y después de un agradable paseo por los Shambles y los bares estábamos listos para comer algo.Nos encanta la comida china y hemos probado un par de restaurantes chinos y comida para llevar en el área de York, queríamos algo mejor que el que habíamos probado.Así que volviendo al hotel ya solo 6 minutos a pie de Heworth Chinese Takeaway, ahí es donde nos dirigimos.Afortunadamente, era un domingo por la noche (no abre los lunes) y no podía esperar para probar nuestras comidas deseadas. GUAU absolutamente delicioso. Tuvimos que esperar unos 15 minutos (nadie más esperando), así que creo que lo estaban cocinando fresco.Los precios son razonables y la cantidad abundante. Pero lo mejor de todo es la calidad y el sabor. Habríamos vuelto el lunes si estuviera abierto. Sin duda volveremos cuando en York de nuevo.

Stopped using this Chinese as it got really bad , after looking at reviews this evening as we fancied a change from our usual one, we thought we would give it another try. So glad we did as food was absolutely lovely, fresh and tasty and the curry sauce was lush

Acabo de recibir una orden de entrega y debo decir que es el mejor arroz frito con pollo y salsa de curry. Las galletas de gambas eran muy sabrosas. La comida llegó antes de lo esperado. La chica de entrega fue muy amable, la comida era deliciosa y caliente y en abundancia. No estaba tan interesado en las patatas fritas. Pero en general, estaba muy feliz.

Los nuevos propietarios asumieron el control después de que el cierre del C 19 comenzara a levantarse. La comida es excelente y el tamaño de la porción es excelente y abundante. Hemos estado visitando este mismo chino durante más de 20 años, y la calidad de la comida es siempre buena.El curry de verduras es realmente bueno, y también puedes pedir otras opciones vegetarianas.El servicio es bueno y rápido. Siempre educado y con una linda sonrisa.

Tenemos una de sus comidas para llevar el 22 de mayo. Puedo decir con la mano que fue una de las mejores comidas para llevar de China que he tenido.Llevamos años viniendo a comida para llevar de Heworth y cuando los dueños anteriores se fueron, no sabía tan bien, sin embargo, seguimos viniendo y el fin de semana pasado lo lograste, ¡nuestra comida era increíble! Incluso a mi madre le encantó y es una galleta difícil de romper.Se lo recomendamos a algunos amigos y ellos comieron una de sus comidas para llevar el sábado y describieron su comida como una de las mejores comidas para llevar que han tenido.

The chips were fine, average at best but the fish was poor. Overdone fish to the point bits were tough and they haven’t perfected how to do batter on fish. Poor effort overall. Have the Chinese Curries, that’s their forté.

Fried rice looks smells and tastes burnt. Duck plenty of skin and fat but no meat. Delivered. If I could minis for rating I would.

The previous owners of this business have now moved to hot winds Chinese takeaway on brockfield road Huntington the food is a bit more expensive but it's very nice.

This used to be the best Chinese in York! But I assume it’s under new ownership and It did go down hill, But it is getting a lot better to how it used to be.

This used to be a great chinese but now it is pretty awful. I believe it has changed ownership. I have now tried it a couple of times since the staff changed and gave it the benefit of the doubt after the first time but tried again on Friday and it was not good again.Such a shame but I am now looking for a different takeaway to use.

Been coming here for 15 years, used to be the best chicken curry in York, not no more, will have to find another Chinese.. shame knew owners have ruined it...

Well were to start really ive been going to this chinese for 4 plus years and it used to be the best chinese in York but NEW OWNERS have recently taken over and have ran this place into the ground A bag of chips is more like half a bag the chips are also scraggy and look ill Don't even get me started on the curry thick lumpy mess powdery and absolutely caked in a bright orange grease I could have filled a cup with the amount of grease on my plate Absolutely gutted they've ruined this place will not be back if I could rate it 0 stars I would time to look elsewhere

Been going to this Chinese for many years very disappointed curry sauce has changed its now brown and thick no taste at all swimming in grease chicken scrag ends what the hell have you done your going to lose alot of business from your loyal customers Sort It Out will not be returning

What on earth has happened to Heworth Chinese? Ive been getting a Friday night treat takeaway from here for years and I fear its been taken over. I noticed a few weeks ago that the usual women weren’t there serving up. Infact, its a completely new bank of staff now. I phoned tonight to order for delivery and they said currently they are not delivering on weekends because they dont have drivers. This is such a shame! Food-wise it has also changed. The chicken curry Ive enjoyed for years is completely different now. Infact, I would say I could make it better myself.Please sort things out guys. Its obvious people have used that place for years and loved it how it was. Please keep the flavourings the same, otherwise people will look elsewhere and no one wants that.

Cash only at this place in order to fiddle the taxes no doubt but what business is that of mine. The food, well that is my business and it was fine. The classic take away Chinese curry flavour was present albeit rather hot but the chunks of chicken were substantial and numerous.

Been going here 20+ years, had a chinese tonight, dreadful. The fried rice use to be fresh golden no grease, tonight's was a reheated dark brown mess, beef like rubber. Time to find a new chinese such a shame

Bueno, durante años y años siempre hemos usado el chino Heworth, ¡esta noche tenemos uno como lo hacemos la mayoría de los sábados y fue asqueroso! Tal pobre mala calidad y la comida totalmente insípida. Eso es todo por mi. . nunca volveré Es una pena que los viejos dueños se fueran. Ojalá supiera a dónde se habían ido.

Really poor quality, taste and inferior on every level to our once loved Chinese takeaway. All our favourite dishes were miserably tasteless.

We got a beef curry and chips from the Heworth Chinese, and it was very tasty. It was very big and enough for two if us to share. Very nice.

Nos detuvimos para tomar pescado y papas fritas como una decisión de último minuto, por lo que no tuvimos que empezar a cocinar. Ojalá hubiéramos hecho el esfuerzo y cocinado. Las papas estaban grasientas, parecían anémicas y solo estaban calientes. El pescado estaba seco y frío. Mi Hubble pidió guisantes por los que pagamos pero no recibimos. Lo siento mucho por tratar de pedir algo de comida para llevar. Está mal de mí esperar por lo que pagué. Sólo desearía que me trataran con un poco más de desprecio. Nunca más lo molestaré mucho, mucho lo siento.

I used to live in York and regularly had a takeaway from here. I have never had a bad meal from this shop. Everything I have tried has always been delicious. Sweet and sour chicken is one of my favourites.

Gran para llevar poco, teléfono solicitar una entrega, alguien o más bien un equipo de personas que preparar, cocinar y entregar a su puerta. Eso es tan guay. Gracias.

He pescado y patatas fritas y china desde aquí al menos una vez una quincena y son sabrosos. A veces el bateador es un poco blanda, pero otras veces es muy sabrosa. La comida china son muy buenas pero no son los más baratos, aunque te dan una barbaridad y que tienden a compartir con la familia.

Pedí un plato a las 7.15 pm para ser entregado y me dijeron que no iba a ser una hora y luego tuve que llamar dos veces para ver donde nuestra comida era.. esperamos por más de 2 horas!!!

Llamado por una comida para llevar el domingo por la noche, sin pensarlo. Yo era el único cliente, que parecía inusual como en el pasado, siempre tuvo una corriente constante de personas pidiendo. Pedí un especial curry y patatas fritas, por el sonido del metal...

Fue sacudido por el servicio caro arrogante. No hay gambas gratis galletas saladas. Si es necesario, de unas 2 libras una bolsa, frío y mala calidad. Recomendaría que otros restaurantes y comida para llevar chinos merecen negocios sobre este esfuerzo antihigiénicos mal llevado!
