Food was fantastic, staff very helpful but if you do use them they are cash only. We will definitely use them again.

We always use this Chinese and usually good but today we ordered prawn foo young and on eating it realised there were no prawns in it! It was also burnt in places. Also burnt in places.

We called here tonight for our evening meal, we were the only people dining in but very busy with takeaway, the food was lovely we would definitely come back

Ordered a takeaway for collection. Food can not have been cooked fresh in the time it took for me to get there. Less than ten minutes. £3.80 for half of flat lager ! We had to reheat everything when we got home. One of our dishes was chicken fried rice and wasn't nice, it was grey and very salty. We think it was expensive and not value for money. Chicken in Satay sauce, chicken fried rice, chips, veg spring rolls. £33. Won't be going again.

Food was disgusting. My friend threw hers up. I didn't eat much of mine. 30 pounds wasted.

Had a takeaway from this place. Never again. Small portions, food just about edible and very surly service on pick up. There was so much batter around the minuscule bits of chicken & prawn it was hardly worth putting them in. The crispy beef was like eating bullets. Avoid.

Salt & Pepper chicken pieces came with all the flavour on 3 pieces so could have done with been mixed more, the chicken fried rice is very basic and all in all it is very expensive for what it was and i expected better

Called in as it was the only restaurant not fully booked on Valentines day and it was the nicest meal we've had in years

A group of us have just been to Haxby Fortune Inn tonight. What a brilliant night. It is the first time we have been to the restaurant to eat in. We Usually have takes aways on a week end from there. As for the restaurant it was excellent. Amazing food and the staff were brilliant. They brought our daughter a slice of cheese cake with a candle in. It actually set off the fire alarm. Good company was added the evening.

A great restaurant food and service is excellent would highly recommend you visit we were staying nearby and couldn't fault anything

We are regular customers at Fortune Inn. It was taken over a short while ago and the food and service are excellent now. The staff are friendly, and genuine . We have not been disappointed since the change of owners. Well, we’ll worth a trip. Also an excellent clean well set out restaurant .

Food was not good, spring rolls was overcooked as was the Prawn toast. We had chicken sweet and sour with fried rice ,didn't taste right. Waitress who served us was lovely, won't be returning.

Very glad I have been here, food is lovely, staff are really helpful and nothing is too much for them. Reasonable prices for food, good portions, really can't complain at all. Have been back again since my first time going and will definitely be back again soon.

We have used the Fortune Inn many times over the years and I was really disappointed. We got two meals between three of us and the portions and quality were below par. Expensive for what we got. Doubt we will return

Can't fault it ! Great Chinese food reasonably priced ! We were looking for something quick to eat after putting up awning and setting up caravan and staff were friendly and helpful ! Food surprised me greatly so tasty would eat there again ! In fact I'm going to order again tonight asa a treat before we head home !

Just a warning if anyone is thinking of going to haxby fortune Inn restaurant please read and be careful not to get ripped off. I was absolutely gob smacked the second time I went for this. First time with my wife was lovely but second time 3 of us went on a Monday night. The food was nice but to be told to pay £6 extra for wastage was ridiculous. I asked what had we wasted for the manager to turn up with pictures on an ipad. Salt and pepper chicken wings as a starter had 7 large ones on it and one was left and a second one was half eaten so nearly a full portion was eaten. Fined £3 for wastage of that. One spare rib had a few bits of meat left on it but all the rest had been fully eaten to the bone. Fined £3 for wastage on that. Banana fritters had one mouthful left as was full and tried to fine £3 for that so I put it in my mouth. We spent nearly £70 and would have returned regularly but not now. To know you have to eat every piece of rice, chip or bit of meat off the bone otherwise you get fined £3 wastage is an absolute joke. We don't waste food and shared one banana fritter between us so not waste food. What makes it worse was they gave us a full portion of something with a sauce that we asked to come without the sauce multiple times. We then had to re order it but so the original one wasn't wasted I ate all of even though it wasn't something I liked much which should be enough to show I don't waste food. 🤬🤬🤬

Revisited for a takeaway meal after a few years of giving this place a miss owing to a serious drop off in service and quality. Glad we did. The new management team seem to be on the road to turning the restaurant around and have totally refurbished the interior stylishly and come up with some new menu ideas. Worth a revisit for those of you who, like us, have given the place a wide berth since the previous change in ownership a few years ago.

Bobbed in for a sat night takeout which was lush.. my only issue is it now a minimum card payment of £30. Really to high for a single person food order and as most dont really do cash anymore. May I suggest £10 Is more realistic.

Excellent food and service, also the fantastic new buffet menu/deal is brilliant.😎👍. Plenty of variety and happy to meet individual needs. Restaurant is beautifully decorated and waiting staff can’t do enough to please. £1.49 beers = result

We have had a wonderful meal here tonight, the food was absolutely delicious, service & presentation was first class, we enjoyed the Char Su buns, fillet steak in peking sauce, roast pork kung po & egg fried rice, the staff were attentive & friendly & we shall definitely return soon, highly recommend!

We had a lovely family meal tonight we had the Chinese buffet menu which was very nice and tasty and plenty of choice on the menu for everyone's taste. All the staff are very friendly and polite and make you feel very welcome we even took our young daughter with us who also enjoyed it. Had a fantastic meal last night 16 December it was our wedding anniversary and they gave us a surprise of cake with sparklers the food was amazing would definitely recommend this Chinese restaurant

Had an excellent sit down meal in Fortune Inn last night. Great food, fairly priced and to the young gentleman serving with the glasses - you are easily the best waiter we’ve had in years! Friendly, polite and attentive. We’ll be back!

A really enjoyable visit to this newly vamped restaurant which has a lovely modern vibe and varied menu. We were welcomed warmly and treated to vegetarian crackers before our meal - the veggie hot and sour soup and spicy garlic tofu were delicious! Will definitely be back again.

Went with family for a birthday celebration. I have not been inside since it has changed hands and was very impressed with the changes, the restaurant is lovely. The food was perfect , the service was first class . Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend.

Visited here for dine in, extremely impressed with their service and food. The resturant has only been open for a few weeks now but they are beyond experienced! Served every dish on time, food was amazing and place was very clean. Would definately reccomend to every one i know. Will be back again for fortune inn :)

My family & I had a fantastic takeaway! The curry’s were a little more spicy than we are used to which was a pleasant surprise and great portions. Was packaged well so food stayed hot for longer than expected to get us home We are very fussy about our food and this was a delightful meal. Would definitely recommend. Staff were very helpful and we could stand outside as they gave us a “beeper” so we knew the food was ready! Top notch & will be using again!

Disgusting food and a rip off too.the plum duck was made with scraps of meat that I wouldn't give to my dog. the lemon chicken was dry andvastly inferior to what you can get at Paddyfields. had to wait for ten minutes to be served and the man who served me didn't apologise or crack a smile. Avoid like the plague and go to Paddyfields instead. It doesn't cost much more and is a hundred times nicer and the staff are a lot friendlier.

Las verduras en las salsas son crujientes y tienes un montón de carne en los platos. OK food, however opening times listed on the internet are not accurate. Wanted to pop in tonight on the way home from town. It said open till midnight but was closed when arrived in Haxby on last bus from town around 11.45. Yep, only 15 mins....but still! Pizza ordered!

battered chicken was disgusting it was totally burnt to a crisp the chips were dry looked like they had been left for a week and then put in oil will not be getting any more food from there

I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. They only do takeaway and there can be a delay at busy time, up to 20 minute so phone ordering is the best bet. They accept credit cards for payment.

This is not a resturant but a take away. Better food than anywhere we have visited. We have been going there for years.

People who live in Haxby are very lucky to have one of the best chinese's in the country. However this isn't it!Had to wait in store for over 30mins for my telephone order after arriving at the allotted time. Once I got home the food was cold and bland. Curry tasted exactly the same as the chow mein. Chips were like cardboard. In the end most of the family left more than they ate.I would certainly advise anyone who is after chinese food to go to Paddyfields Cantonese instead. I certainly will as I have never had a bad meal from there. Just unfortunate that it was closed tonight :(

Great value for money,fast service, great flavoursome food and more than ample portion size. Come here regularly and never disappointed.

You won't be disappointed if you get a takeaway from this place but it certainly won't set your world alight. This is standard msg laden Chinese fayre that is comfort food rather than a special treat. The food I ordered had a generous film of oil on the top that I had to get rid of which suggests they use too much. Decent price though for what I had.

The beef did not taste like beef and the strips which were heavily battered were up to 8 inches long? The spring rolls were soggy. The bbq ribs were fatty and very odd shapes. Having used this many times I will not be ever using it again
