Tasty House in York

Very tasty and fresh food. Their salt and pepper dishes are must try. The chicken chow mein was brilliant. The guy at counter was very polite and honest with the offerings, suggested me cheaper and better alternatives which helped me reduce excess. He also offered to customise the menu, all in all a great place if you looking for a nice Chinese takeaway. Accepts only cash. Will definitely buy again when I visit York again.

We have been going for Chinese Takeaway here for over 20 years. As we have moved house around York, we always end up driving here as the service is always friendly, timely, affordable and the food, for us, has always been really good.

Live local, good Chinese, never had any issues. Nice chap who runs it too 👍

I looked at the reviews which were mixed before ordering but I can honestly say as someone who eats Chinese food regularly, the food was really good . I would definitely recommend trying this place . X

Have to say quite disappointed with the food , really not great. Had cashew chicken , white floury sauce , white chicken. No flavour. Think there needs to be more effort into a smaller offering done well. Sad as it could do well for the area if it was better. Won’t be going back

Absolutely superb food, new menu is brilliant and full of choice. We pass two takeaways to get to Yummy Ho but wouldn't go anywhere else.

Heard many good things about the place. A friend recommended it to me, and I'm going to trust their taste.

AVOID !! The food is utterly disgusting. Borderline inedible. It doesn’t matter what you order because everything tastes the same, tasteless. Beef satay is basically curry sauce with bits of pineapple & bamboo. Cheap ingredients not cooked fresh, I’m amazed this place is still open.AVOID AVOID AVOID!

The male staff wearing spectacles was the worst I have ever seen in 33 years of working in different countries. No words to describe the creep. They can go to hell.

We had a takeaway from here tonight and we were very impressed, everything was fresh and tasty, I would definitely recommend York tasty house.

Very meh. Needed an adrenaline shot of flavour. This is the chow mien. Looked anaemic. Tasted fresh but just needed correctly seasoning. Lots of improvement space for this dish. Will try something else again soon.

I always order sweet & sour chicken balls with chips as well as chicken chow mien with egg fried rice.. perfect every-time. Don't really explore the menu much as when I have, it has never been great. It's only round the corner from me so it's pretty convenient, apart from Monday & Tuesday when it's shut!

I went to order a meal, but it became apparent very quickly that the little rude man behind the counter wanted to be aggressive. He started arguing with me after about 10 seconds. Shouting and swearing, telling me what I could and couldn’t have. After about a minute after finally somehow ordering nearly what I wanted, but he ran out into the street after me , shouting abuse & threatening me, close up face to face.. I am a 61 year old man, and didn’t need this abuse, I told him I wanted my money back and didn’t want his food. One of the worst experiences I have ever had, really threatening & frightening. Never will go there again, even though I have used them for years.. horrible service.

it's the most amazing meal we had since we came to England from China. Only 25 pounds(3 persons) for such fulfilling and delicious food. Love this place!

It’s a small takeaway, so I wasn’t expecting much, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was superb. Best I’ve had in york. Very generous portions with plenty of meats in the dishes. Flavour was amazing in ALL dishes. The staff were friendly and patient with me being indecisive. It is my new goto for Chinese takeaway. If you haven’t tried it, you should. Super yummy!

AVOID AVOID AVOID First 2 times used, beautiful food and we order same dishes all the time. Tonight we ordered same again, chicken curry and chips twice and a king prawn chow mein. Awful! The curry was just absolutely chokka block with onions and they were raw! Not aldentè but actually RAW. I love onions so much but honestly I don't want them raw in a curry. My husband was same and then the chow mein was full of bamboo shoots and 2 prawns and the noodles were charred burnt. Seriously of your a Chinese that burns noodles you're doing something wrong. Also the chips were dark and tasted of old burnt oil. I called the takeaway and politely told them about the food and the chef smacked the phone our of the ladies hand and started shouting down the phone that he tests the food he cooks before he sends it out and the onions were not raw and that his food is perfect. He then continued to tell me that I overcook my onions at home and that's why I think his are raw. He said my cooking is very bad and I don't know good food. (Very cheeky and disrespectful not to mention incredibly rude) I'm absolutely disgusted. Nothing was offered, not even offered to look at the food in question. Just insult after insult at me. AVOID, SAVE YOUR MONEY

Very nice and hot food, freshly prepared. Everyone at work commented how hot and fresh it was. Mmmm very tasty as the name suggests. Place looks a bit run down and not terribly inviting, but what take aways are? The food is what counts.

Rude man, won’t let you finish what you have to say he just talks over you, Ordered salt and pepper chicken and chips The chicken was over cooked and didn’t taste nice at all and the chips was like rubber

Bog standard takeaway-snotty rude fella couldn't give a toss about crap meal ordered before, been a few times, am local but won't go again, plenty better in York that deliver.

Good quality food, vegan and vegetarian dishes are tasty. Reasonably priced. Waiting time about 15 minutes.

if u like authentic home made chinese food then ya on to a winner i used to live down the same street for 16 years and it takes some beating my fave dish is a special kung po with chips soft noodles are awesome i now live a couple of miles away and tried all the other delivery chinese even maxis which is twice the price and not as good in my opinion!! always very fresh tasty house and worth the short car drive the sweet and sour cantonese style dishes also excellent non come close just a shame the dont deliver but i guess thats the reason how they can keep the consistency absolute quality

Best Chinese takeaway in York by a mile! Food is absolutely beautiful and full of flavour. Portions are huge too. We travel a few miles each way to use this takeaway and have done for a few years.

Been eating food from here for some time. Had a break and recently went back. I think this is the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Fresh tasting and large portions!

Have been a regular for 2 years, probably bought 10+ takeaways. Food is very average bog standard . Last time I went I commented the last one I had wasn't so good the reply from the guy behind the counter was "I don't care", I asked what did he mean? "I don't care, you don't like you bring back" he replied abruptly. I told him politely he was very rude and I was just giving him some feedback-"I've never seen you before, just leave, get out", I told him where to shove it by then as I'd had enough to be shouted at as I walked out. I try and support local business but this one will never see me again.

I travel from Acomb for their food as it’s the best Chines in York, I’ve been a customer for some 20 Years, I’ve tried other chines shores more local to me but I alway come back it’s worth the travel.

Shop is cold fryers not on at all ? cooking is done in the back ? FROZEN CHIPS !!! we stayed around the corner for a few days it was the only chinese near, poor sods !! Absolute crap disgusting food, with Luke warm frozen chips not cheap either, my partner stopped me taking the food back and asking him if hed eat it, awful foid DO NOT USE

Been using Tasty House for years, always been very good quality food and excellent friendly service - would not go anywhere else 👍

We had chicken fried rice,which was very nice,duck in plum sauce again very tasty.We chose crispy beef as a little starter and again this was very tasty.

Couldn't disagree more with some of the other reviews! We drive over from Dringhouses just to use Tasty House because it's by far the best Chinese takeaway I've had in York and I've had a lot! The Chow mein especially is beautiful.

Always great food friendly staff and even when there reli busy food stays consistent and prepared in a timely manner.

Ordered the ribs as a starter never seen anything like them .... no kind of sauce on them , no meat on them just fat and very very greasy. Not going back there again

I go here usually on a Saturday night and Tuesday night for takeaway for my work mates when we are on nights. Always great food and friendly staff. I always have the Salt and Pepper Chicken it brilliant.
