The food was amazing and the entrance of the sizzling grilled meat was lovely. Everything looked so well presented and tasted lovely. We were looked after so well and perfect waiter service. Everyone who likes Indian food should try it.

I've eaten here a fair few times since it opened so I thought it was about time to write a review. I've tried quite a few dishes over the years and have enjoyed them all. Their chicken Dhansak is the best i have tasted. I visited last night with my wife who has been a vegetarian for many years and she always has a good choice. Quite often we order two vegie starters and go half and half. Last night was onion bhajee and chilli paneer a lovely combo that tasted spot on. Then veg rogan josh and tandoori mixed grill for me, all cooked to our liking. It's always good friendly service whether with the wife, family or our curry club gang. A great traditional style Indian restaurant that we would recommend.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Always good food, eating in or takeaway. Breathe staff is always friendly and helpful. Still excellent March 2022. Visited again May 22. Oct 23, just back from another excellent meal. Jan 24 is still very good food and value . April 24 just had a great lamb tikka balti.

Naan bread was best in a meal bought last night - curries were probably the worst I’d had a very very long time! So disappointed ☹️

Bought popadoms, 2 curry’s, nan, rice, 2 pints and had a pudding for less than £50. A last minute thought to attend this curry house whilst staying locally for a few nights. We can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we made. The meal was set made quickly, everything was cooked the perfection and very tasty. Should we be close again, it will be our first thought for a meal out.

Veggie options are incredible. It beats our previous and also brilliant indian takeaway having moved to Hessle just recently. We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful meal from here. We will be regulars!

Under cooked lamb sent out for delivery. When I asked for a refund they only refunded the lamb rogan josh not the rice and Naan. I'd give zero stars if I could.

First and last experience with hessle tandoori. Ordered over £40 worth of food online with a 45 minute delivery time. Order eventually came 1.5hours later with missing items. Rang to tell them and they said they would get the delivery driver to drop them off. 20 minutes later, still not here. After being told a million times how busy they are (not a paying customers problem) I was told I would get a call back in 5 minutes. Another 15 minutes go by so I call back and get the phone put down on me as soon as I tell them my address. My partner rings and gets told how busy they are another 6,365 times. And that they will give us the missing items for free on our next order (next joke, we will not be ordering again). I tried to explain that a takeaway customer is still a paying customer, just like those in the restaurant and if I was sat in the restaurant I wouldn’t be happy waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes at this point and also wouldn’t be happy to pay for cold food whilst the rest of my order was still MIA 40 minutes after letting them know. Every person we spoke to (about 3 men in total) was all as rude as each other and I can’t believe the money we’ve paid for cold food. Will absolutely NEVER eat here again!

An excellent meal, well served by attentive staff. We had a group of seven that arrived without booking , nothing was touch much trouble and our group had a lovely evening .

God food was terrible, raw and cold. No flavour just pure heat. Only ate it due to not having to eat anything all day.

A lovely friendly curry house. The food is excellent, with a vast menu that you're sure to find something you'll love. Really good value. Not over posh, so you are really made to feel welcome.

Visited with my partner & friends after a wedding do It was getting late when we arrived but we did call ahead to check this was ok. 3 of us ordered a curry & different dishes, however when they came they all looked the same. I personally didn’t think it was great & neither did the rest of the party. Service was the best either not friendly at all. Would not look to visit again.

It took 1.5hrs from us arriving to receiving the meals... Very slow service! It appeared to be 1 person front off house and 1 person in the kitchen. There were only 3 tables with people on (a total of 10 customers in the reasturant) and it still took 1.5hrs to get our food. I completely appreciate lack of staffing is sometimes uncontrollable but there should have been a word of warning when we arrived or they shouldn't have opened. Some of the curries were lovely, some were very bland. They use the excuse "our card machine has broken" ... which is the same excuse they have used for years! They are always cash only which is wrong for a sit down reasturant.

Lil expensive but very good food.

It was once good but now its gone downhill. The worst? service, I had to wait forever for my food despite ordering inside the restaurant, I asked twice where my food was after watching main courses arrive at tables that ordered after me. Eventually I was given my food only to find it cold by the time I got home. I will never use this place again. Overpriced and poor.

Another Indian restaurant with no card payment. 3 adults 2 children eating. Food ok but not great...my masala was too sweet. Onion bhajis too dry. Another meal was too hot when it should have been mild. We were just passing and called in but we will probably pass next time. I asked locals if the food is ok and they said yes, so maybe our choices were the problem.

Had high hopes of this Indian given the generally high ratings, but after visiting I can see why there are negative reviews. For us the main dishes let it down, the curries were bland and for some didn't match the description on the menu. Lamb chop starter was just bone. Service wasn't great considering it wasn't busy, they only had 2 front of house also doing takeaways, other reviews also mention service so it doesn't appear to be a one off. Sadly won't be going back, far better Indians around for quality of food.

I’m very disappointed with Hessle tandoori. 19th February order 2 curries at 6 pm it didn’t come for 2&1/2 hours then was cold so had to reheat it. Phone numerous times and was fobbed off. Won’t be using you again and won’t recommend you either

Good bread was delicious. Bad the curries were bland and we think we got given the wrong dish I ordered madras and was very mild the wife ordered tika and could hardly eat it because it was hot. The ice for the drinks were placed in the glasses with their hands.

Having just been for husband's birthday I can highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. The service was prompt, the food was divine, I had mild husband had spicy but both tasty in their own way. The price we felt was reasonable too. We shall return here without a doubt.

Mediocre food not the biggest the portions.

We decided to go out for Christmas dinner. We have been to the Hessle Tandoori a few times. It is probably one of the best places top eat in the Hessle area. Friendly service, well prepared and cook food and a relaxing setting. Going again on Sunday. Love it

I have used this takeaway and restaurant many times in the past and never been disappointed, however I have not used them a in a while due to poor takeaway service, so chose to use Dawaat in Anlaby which has proved to be very good. However tonight I thought I would give Hessle Tandoori another try, I truly wish I had not bothered, the food was completely flavourless, we ordered Madras Curry's which tasted much like gravy, no spice no flavour no lamb!! Naan breads flavourless again don't think garlic naan even contained garlic, all in all a very disappointing taste experience. Sorry hessle tandoori you were the best. Not anymore.

All of us have been to Hessle Tandoori previously and I must say the food is excellent. But last night after arriving at 7pm our party of 6 received our main meals at 9.10pm!!!!! We had received the poppadoms and 1 pickle tray and who'd ordered starters got them at 8ish when the main meals were requested as soon as possible. Other diners who arrived after us to the restaurant were leaving before we had received our meals and the priority was the takeaways....... a Kitchen staff member even came out to talk to one collector. My request as to were thd food was? Was answered with it will be 5 minutes .... err 45 minutes !!!! We were given 2 food warming trays between 6 ... but on hearing the table discussion we received a third. Could it have been the drinks sales that delayed the meal? The food was good but, the night was ruined as it was too late for the planned pub crawl celebration when we left. If you want a good Indian meal, too eat at a reasonable time and have good service .... get a takeaway as they take priority.

Be VERY VERY CAREFUL ordering soft drinks at this rip off restaurant! I was charged £4.90 for a soda and lime, yes £4.90!!! When I contested it they lowered it to £3.90. I had 2 -£7.80! Absolutely despicable to openly rip off customers in this way. To put this in perspective I later had a large Gordon's gin and Fevertree tonic for £6.90 in a pub. Food was mediocre but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

A local, down to earth restaurant with amazing food and very friendly service staff. We mainly ordered seafood starters and mains. The fish was fresh and tasty. Each dish had its own distinct rich and smokey flavours. Well spiced, but not over powering. Breads and rice well served. Really happy with the service. At the end of our meal our taxi was over half an hour late. At which point the staff were helpful in trying to get us back to our hotel without us asking. Would definitely recommend.

The food at Hessle Tandori is excellent. We’ve now enjoyed two take outs from here and are very pleased to have found it.

Used for a takeaway I was very impressed, amazing flavours with every dish. Will be back for a sit-down meal post lockdown for sure.

We just had a take away from here for the first time in Ages. Delivery came on time, everything hot, food was delicious. Biryani, Chili garlic korai and a chicken tikka naga. Everything was well cooked and the perfect amount of heat where needed. My compliments to the chef...

I decided to treat my parents to an Indian takeaway to say thank you for some work they had done for me recently. We normally order from Hawwa, but for some bizarre reason they were closed on a Bank Holiday Monday. After looking through the other options which included some ridiculously priced options in Hessle, we chose to order from Hessle Tandoori. The website needs to make it clearer that you can order a takeaway from them as we almost bypassed them completely until we saw a photograph of the restaurant that said that they do takeaways. We chose an array of different foods including Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, Spinach Paneer, Chicken Dupiaza and an array of sides and breads. The food arrived dead on time (something unusual for a £65 order) and with some complimentary bottles of Cobra, a nice touch, by a very polite and friendly delivery driver. The food was hot and absolutely sublime. The onion bhaji were some of the best I've ever tasted and the Lamb Rogan Josh was so tender. The Chicken Tikka Masala wasn't to our tastes and the colour of it was a little offputting, but this is completely personal and nothing to do with the food at all. We all agreed (after being stuffed) that it was the best takeaway Indian meal we have had in a very long time. We look forward to visiting the restaurant soon.

Very nice atmosphere and great food at a good price

I ordered a chicken tikka masala from Tandoori with a garlic naan and the source was the best source I've had from there AND overall. The delivery service was very kind and understanding of social distancing regulations. The next day I wanted another one of their delicious curries.

Myself and my partner ordered a take away from here Saturday evening 01/08 and I must say the food was amazingly good but we will never use hessle tandoori again. The reason I am writing this review in anger and disappointment is we have used hessle tandoori for takeaways for a few years but late last year we realised they had overcharged us a couple of pounds over on our meal we only realised in the car going home to Beverley so we was annoyed but left it at that as we all make mistakes. We was annoyed and left it a few weeks but when we decided to give them another go we ordered food got there and again another £4.00 overcharge but I realised and challenged the the guy he disagreed with me but reworked it out and apologised admitting he had made a mistake. We decided we would not use hessle tandoori again and have not we have been using other Indian takeaways but the food is very good so one last chance after not using for about 4 months so Saturday just gone we ordered food king prawn madras and tandoori king prawn main meal portion of chips and change garlic naan to a keema naan menu online price £17.20 add chips and bread change extra 50p when we arrived the guy said £27.95 absolutely ridiculous and no bearing on website price was going to walk away but he reduced it to £22.50 never again and this is a great shame as the meal was excellent but I will not be ripped of.

Really disappointed with Not Because it was New Years Eve, we rang our takeaway order through early at 6.00 p.m to be delivered at 8.00 p.m - it eventually arrived just after 9.00 p.m. After the food was delivered we realised that part of the order was missing - we rang to tell them and they said they were too busy to come back out with it (even though we had paid for it). Not the service I would expect, despite it being NYE.The food that we did get was luke warm and quite bland. Doubt that we will use them again.

Disappointing takeaway. Expensive. Only 6 small pieces of chicken. Bland & not spicy at all. Will not be returning ever again. Have had better curry from Aldi & Lidl at a fraction of the price.

Ordered a meal Sat night, great personal service, delivered by the boss as they were busy, food came very quickly and was OUTSTANDING, fantastic flavours and jus the right amount of heat, I can highly recommend Hessle Tandoori.

LOOK AT MY PHOTOS £10 FOR THIS?,IS THAT RIGHT....I had been at work all day for 10 hours,was in Hessle thought Hessle Tandoori, never tried that before,I am starving hungry will pop in and order directly some food,and take home to eat after extremely busy day.Ordered food, curry and rice and popadom,simple, paid, and left. When i got home realised rice was totally missing,I thought, where is the rice, maybe it's included in the curry I ordered too, but NO!!The curry is totally useless without NO rice, and i thought when i put the food in my vehicle this is quite light in weight, but still drove home thinking they know what there doing,I am very tired after being at work all day, maybe the portions here are just less than other places, which I would NOT of minded if the quality was better. When i got home,i opened the bag thinking, oh i'm starving, can't wait to eat this after a really hard day at work, only to find the rice was totally missing!!, despite very clearly ordering it at the counter, there was no error, no mistake,I was very clear on what i wanted. I immediately rang the takeaway and they answered, Lemon Rice, so they knew it was missing, they said they ran out to give me the rice whilst i was driving away, but i looked at the takeaway whilst driving away and NOBODY was running out,so BS.I even checked my dash cam and nobody was even running anywhere to give me this.Anyway they took my address over the phone and apologised and i thought genuine mistake, they said it would be here in 20 minutes,i thought no problem. Over 1 hour later when all my other food was cold, they eventually turned up, bearing in mind this is on a MONDAY night, when there not busy!!!! I even offered to stand at the top of my street to collect it from the driver, after the first 20 minutes of freezing standing at the top of my street for their mistake,and NO SHOW,I went in,and waited for them to deliver it to my door instead. Long story short when they delivered they said, well We tried our best,if you think this is acceptable then order from here, If you personally go into a food place and very clearly order the food on a collection and they miss the rice off,and have to wait over an hour to get that rice delivered on a Monday night, and think this is acceptable then order from there.For me this is a shambles to get a simple order so wrong,i should of gone home and cooked some food in my oven myself would of been cheaper, less stress and i would of actually eaten. I don't have a microwave, so needed to reheat all the food in my oven, I ended up throwing all of it away in the bin!!, total waste of £10, I wont ever again in my life order from hessle tandoori, a total shambles to get such a basic simple collection order so wrong, and have to wait over an hour for rice to be delivered on a Monday night when not even busy.I wasted my time, my money and I am still starving hungry!!, what an absolute joke this place is, this is a genuine honest review from somebody who knows the indian takeaway system inside out, think about it, if they cant even get a curry and rice order right, what hope as anyone got, don't bother if you don't want your time and money wasting!This will be the last time I ever order from any takeaway, it seems standards are totally missing,and when they eventually turn up they say,I tried my best, well it just isn't good enough, try another business and get out of the food takeaway business, as it's obvious you can't even get a BASIC simple order right.This truly is a genuine review from a person that does NOT leave reviews,or be bad to anybody,I am easy going and don't like to complain, I have the highest respect for any human, but have to speak out when I receive the worst customer service ever from somebody selling food or services to me.I THREW ALL MY FOOD AWAY IN THE BIN AFTER THIS DIABOLICAL SERVICE AS IT WAS TOTALLY COLD AFTER 1 HOUR LATER BRINGING THE RICE!

my wife has been here a couple of times with her friends and raves about it, so we went togetheras we both love indian food, we did actually get there early, so it was a little quiet when we arrived, and we given the choice of any table, I am unsteady on my feet and use a walking stick so for this reason I am always a little concerned obout access when I go somewhere new, but no worries here, only a very small step about 2inches at the entrance, and the door is quite wide I very much doubt wheelchair access would be a problem, I was immediately struck by how light, airy and clean the place was, very well laid out with plenty of room around the tables. we were served straight away and asked if we could be allowed a little time between courses which was no problem, when the food arrived it was delicious, very good quality, and whilst the waiters did not intrude too much, they made themselves available close by and were quickly with us if we needed anything such as more drinks of which they had a very good selection, the place soon filled up with other couples, groups and families, yet we were never ignored as it got busy, we were asked a couple of times by the now busy waiters if we needed anything else, even as the place filled up we never felt rushed and had to ask for the bill which was very reasonable, a visit to the toilets showed them to be exceptionally clean, however I did not notice a toilet for disabled, my wife and I have favoured Indian restaurants for many years now and having lived in various, area's of the country over the years, we have visited a huge number of them and I can honestly say this one rates as one of the very best, it is certainly the very best in this area

Best curry house in the area, probably eat here about once a month. Always great food, good value, great owner and staff. Always happy to make dishes milder as I now can't take it too spicy. Very happy experience.

Nice restaurant . Food was nice. Onion bhaji's needed more flavour. Food portions were big enough with enough meat in them . The restaurant was reasonably priced. The front house person was warm polite and friendly .My only niggle was it was not that appetising listing to one of the back house staff snorting back and spitting into god knows what.

After reviewing all Indian restaurants in Hull and east riding over the past 18 years I've got to say Hessle Tandoori is rated top with two others coming close 1 in Beverly the other was in Cottingham.

Visited this restaurant for the first time with 3 friends.. It was amazing and we will definately be back. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough. The food was an absolute delight. We were not rushed in the slightest. An absolute gem.

Been using this Indian since it opened but have had my last from here and won’t be coming back. Noticed little things over time like missing items, food cold and sometimes quite along wait, but the last meal we ordered the pieces of chicken was so small and not much of it had more chunks of tomato in it. Gone are the days you struggle to eat it because the portion was so good now your left feeling hungry and robbed as I order meat dishes not vegetarian dishes and the prices you charge for your meals that are nowhere near the quality you used to serve.

In area for a few days and was recommended to try here.

A Mother’s Day visit with 3 generations of our family. The menu is large and varied with some different items to your normal Indian. The food was good though the pickle tray was a little disappointing- only issue we had was the service was slow - we don’t like to rush at all but it took longer than the norm. We will return though !

Great Indian food, one of the best in the area.

To say that they had all the orders for our group of 30 before we arrived food took a tremendous amount of time to get to the tables! 2hrs+. Some were eating whilst others were waiting with just their rice in front of them! We got to the restaurant at 6:30 and didn't leave until over 3hrs later due to the farcical and haphazard nature of the meals being served.

The owner (I presume) who served us was great fun and gave us great service all night. The food was good all round but not amazing. The mixed kebab starters were good but some of the meat was a bit overcooked. The curries were nice but a little too sweet. The portion size of rice was very small but he offered to sort straight away. Everything else was good and the service was fantastic from start to finish. Not far off being really good in our opinion but meat could be a bit better. We would all go back and 7/10

Ordered food over an hour and half ago. I have a cold/ flu so wanted a curry to help me get better! What a nightmare in ordering from this place.

I was recommended this establishment as the best in the area, but to be honest, it was an average experience and taste that could be replicated at any curry house on a Saturday night. The decor, which is very nice and inviting certainly doesn't match the food. If you are in Hessle and want a quick curry, by all mens try it, but don't expect anything but an average taste and experience.

This place never seems to let you down food fantastic quality , and the wait time between starter and main is just enough , the curries are rich in flavour and the tandori mix grill is a pure delight , takeaway also available , can’t say anything bad

About 12 of us descended on Hessle Tandoori on a Saturday evening, we had booked and it was fairly busy but the staff coped with this very well and were brilliant.

Went here for a bite to eat. I ordered Chicken Tikka Dhansak, Pilau Rice, and Garlic Naan.

Great little restaurant that serves top draw curry at reasonable prices. Very welcoming and staff very polite, informative and chatty made the experience all the better. Thankyou x

Staying at the Village hotel in Hessle didn't fancy hotel food. I know the area from working there for a few years. Looked up and the curry house had good reviews.
