Staff had no idea which foods were gluten free. Disappointing as it advertises gluten free options and is in a hospital so should understand the importance of allergy labelling.

The restaurant is excellent, the food is very good value and there is plenty of it. The staff are very good too, its a credit to the hospital.

Had an excellent simple lunch here - jacket potato with tuna - at very reasonable price. Well cooked and hot.

Charged over £10 per head as visitors during an outpatient visit for inadequate frozen lasagne and chips which were being pretended as made fresh. All catering supply garbage. Aggressive/ threatening service on 5/7 occasions. Even the hospital staff now seem to completely avoid the food except sandwiches.

I've visited Herriot's almost daily since 2010 when I started as a staff member in the Hospital (non Herriot's staff) I've found Herriot's to be brilliant, the staff are lovely the food is great, there is always a good choice, you can have a full breakfast if you want or simply a fried egg sandwich, or some cereal. Or I go at lunch time for a full dinner, soup, jacket potato, or even on a theme day such as pancake Day, or most recently the American 4th July celebration theme day was held. There is also a salad bar open during the week and pre covid a fresh Sandwich bar also but there are still sandwiches available. I find the price to be quite reasonable and the staff although some days rushed off their feet will still give you a smile, it looks to be a very demanding and busy role. I like that there is an option to have the food in a box to takeaway and you don't have to be HDFT staff to ask for that, just simply ask! All in all Herriot's is usually my choice of food source. Thank you!

Not being a member of staff but a visiting professional, I have visited this restaurant countless times over the last 26yrs. I have been in this restaurant for meals at all times they serve - particularly breakfasts. The menus are varied and the quality - and quantity - of food offered is always of a high standard. Staff friendliness is always high. Very recommendable

We work at the hospital and as a treat my 3 colleagues and I had the luxury of a half hour lunch break so decided to have a Sunday lunch treat. The staff are always polite and as helpful as they can be but it was dreadful!By the time we had waited in the queue(only one person serving) then waited at the till queue(only one person serving)our lunch was'nt even luke warm, the 'cauliflower' cheese was inedible and consisted of cold grey sludge with huge congealed 'slabs' of bright orange processed cheese but not one bit of cauliflower, cold greasy 'roast ' potatoes and a very sad tough Yorkshire pudding! It was'nt cheap even with staff discount and we certainly won't be doing that again.

Herriots is above the level of a cafe or canteen. It is a bit clunky, 90% used by the hard working hospital staff. But Herriots offers good range of affordable meals from a self service buffet style counter. It opens at 07:30 until 11:00. Then reopens at 11:30 for lunch. Then closes at 13:45. Evening meals are available between 18:00 to 19:45. Herriots provides good quality food at affordable prices. A hot breakfast can be had for under £3. The lunch menu includes the seven-day carvery meal deal is a firm favourite among patients and staff, and vegetarian options are always available.

Handy for a cuppa after work or during a shop. The cafe is situated in the simply food store and it’s clients are generally local. Good service and bright and airy cafe. Huge windows mean it gets very hot in sunny weather. No outside seating.

Chanced upon this food cart at the A1 northbound service centre in Wetherby. Had the traditional cornish pasty - it was served hot and was delicious! Except for the hand-crimped part of the pastry which was too doughy, the pastry and filling tasted great together.

Unfortunately the Railway Inn is still closed with apparently no date for reopening. The Railway Inn is owned by Samuel Smith's brewery and no further information is available.

Oh. My. GOD. Let me tell you about my night at this pub in Knaresborough because, honey, it was an absolute disaster – and not the fun, reality-TV kind. No, this was the kind of drama that would make a telenovela look like a casual tea party. I sauntered in, thinking I was about to have the night of my life – and with this face, why wouldn’t I? The place was cute enough, I’ll give it that, and I thought, “This might actually be fabulous.” But oh no, darling, the universe had other plans. First off, the online ordering system was down. DOWN. In 2024! I mean, I might as well have been trying to send a telegram! The whole point of going to a pub these days is to sip a cocktail while casually tapping away on your phone, right? But noooo. Instead, I had to walk to the bar like some peasant from the 1800s. The nerve! The bar? PACKED. I could feel the wrinkles forming as I waited, endlessly, for someone to notice me. And when they finally did? They had the audacity to act like it was my fault that their ancient system had crumbled. I swear, I was two seconds away from giving them a live performance of “And I Am Telling You” right there. But wait, there’s a twist: the toilets. GORGEOUS. I mean, I walked in and thought I’d been transported to a high-end spa. Marble, mirrors, the lighting was divine—honestly, it was like a little slice of heaven in the middle of this disaster zone. I spent more time in the bathroom admiring the décor than I did actually eating or drinking. Priorities, darling. So, here’s the tea: if you’re after a stunning restroom experience, by all means, swing by. But if you’re hoping for decent service or a smooth ordering process, save yourself the heartbreak. I left hungry, frustrated, but at least with a fabulous selfie from the loo. 1.5 stars – And that’s only because the toilets SLAYED.
