Had the carvery, it was nice, but unfortunately no cauliflower cheese left which for us is a must with a roast. Staff were nice but not very organised, seems to lack a good figure head, for instance a table full of glasses were just walked passed a number of times. On leaving a staff member cutting the meat was stood outside puffing on a cigarette not nice to see, at least smoke in a discreet location .

Popped in twice for drinks on a weekend away. Lovely river side setting and views. Drinks were OK priced, not too expensive. Bit of an odd lay out to the place though. Was hard to work out what businesses you were actually buying from as people were bringing drinks in from the bar in the court yard downstairs. Didn't go inside the Koiffe pot only to use toilet but it looked clean and tidy.

We were visiting the area, staying in Clyro, but wanted to meet with friends we had not seen for sometime since a holiday in Crete. They suggested your venue, and we were not disappointed. The view from the terrace was lovely. We struggled with the ordering app, but our waitress Chloe took time to offer us support and advice, and our orders came out no problem. The fire pit we moved to after our food was a welcome warmer. The food menu was minimal due to current restrictions but more than adequate and very nice. Thank you to all your team who were very welcoming.

Positives first; Venue is quite spectacular, we sat outside, in the Sun right by the river...... we thought we were in for a treat.Negatives; Food was pretty appalling - Fish & Chips, thick undercooked batter, cheap frozen chips that arrived barely Luke warm and the peas had been sat out somewhere and looked dry, wrinkly and inedible! Afterwards we found that they charge extra for ketchup and mayo! I think I could cook better standing on my head!Go there for a beer in the sun but AVOID the terrible food. It’s such a shame and really spoilt our first meal after the latest lockdown.

Been here a few times, foods ok, location is nice.Booked in advance a table for two. On arrival we checked in and the lady controlling the guests was very friendly sorted a table.Just as we were about to go to sit down, a most obnoxious man, arrived at the check in desk, he bluntly announced there were no tables, we would have to wait one and a half hours for a table. Being quite taken aback, said but we booked a table! Instead of being understanding, he went on to say and we won't even take your order for at least one and a half hours and then you will have to wait for your food. He had no sympathy, no empathy, just bluntness bordering on rude.I have never had a booking treated with contempt like this before. The place was heaving, I don't know but it appeared casual guests had gone in for a drink then ordered food.Having eaten there before, I found the experience far from satisfactory. I tried once more to explain we had booked a table, his response again fairly blunt, " I'm not going to lie to you, these are the wait times"

Feel like robots are serving you. No character and atmosphere isn’t the same as it use to be. Early close and they just seem to want to get you out. Wanted to order cocktails at 10:30 and couldn’t as it had disappeared of the app and was told they were closed. On website it says 3am? So what I used to like pre covid was a lovely environment but now the service has dropped standards have gone. Order a gin and would expect at £7 for a single you may get a garnish and a gin glass but no have half a pint glads and no garnish. I feel it’s not worth the money and doesn’t feel like a treat. I could do better staying in. And then charging this and having to go get your drinks from another table just isn’t right. Last night I did get some delivered to the table and was shocked. And one guy was making an effort to talk and it’s a shame no one else brings a customer service front.

Several of our guests commented on the level of service received by the competent and friendly bar staff which really made a difference on the day. We recently held an 80th Birthday Party at the LBH and was delighted in all respects. The star of the show was certainly the venue; we were in the Gold Room on the middle floor which has a large side room, perfect for reception drinks and mingling before our seated three course lunch in the main room, we had 70 guests. The patio verandah has stunning views for some fresh air and plenty of room for the children to run around too, we were fortunate to have a bright winter's day but I bet it's stupendous during the warmer months. The complimentary sound and vision systems also added to the ambience. The catering was also a great success, provided through the venue by the local Sisters Catering company. The food was great, especially the local Herefordshire beef and chicken main course, with plenty of accompanying veg, really tasty and piping hot, with excellent service - fabulous! Not to forget the venue staff who throughout the booking process and the event were very attentive and helpful, thank you Lili, Alice and Rob, you made it a wonderful occasion.I would without doubt return to The Left Bank for future functions and heartily recommend it to anyone else.

We love this place. Great views from the terrace, and always a welcoming atmosphere. I’ve spent many nights in Charles’ bar with friends since it re opened in the summer. Brad and Mackie run the bar beautifully, and bring the right amount of fun, wonderful cocktail creation and professionalism to ensure a truly welcoming environment every time. Consequently we decided to book a 40th birthday party here and we weren’t disappointed. Lily was approachable, organised and happy to help throughout the process, and herself and Alice did a wonderful job of decorating the room on the day for us. I can’t recommend highly enough.

Went to the left bank gala evening for our work Christmas party on the 21st December, The main meal served was cold ,I had roast beef, to be fair the beef had a nice flavour but it was cold and the vegetables had not been seasoned and were bland, Deserts pastry was soggy the crackers I had with my cheese were soft , The meal overall was disappointing , definitely not worth the £47.40 that we each paid.

Was here for a one of their Christmas party nights with work colleagues. Have to say it was so disappointing, both the service & the food were diabolical. We each paid £47.40 for prosecco, a 3 course meal & music. We were seated for 7.30, our starter did not arrive until 8.15 & our main course eventually was served at 9.10, but only after us repeatedly asking for it, in fact we asked for some bread rolls, as people were so hungry. I had the salmon, which was the most sad looking plate of food I have ever been served - see picture. It had no suitable accompaniments with it except for the dish of sprouts, carrots & boiled potatoes that were served with the meat dishes. When dessert arrived we had to ask the waiters to clear the table of our main course dishes to free up room. The dessert was no better than the rest of the meal, a tasteless serving of a mass produced lemon tart with half an unripe strawberry. Neither was there any offer of coffees after the meal. The staff were all very young, not at all trained to deal with customers & were mostly wandering around not knowing what to do, there was no sense of management or guidance present. All in all extremely disappointing & definitely not worth the hard earned money it cost.

Great location for a wedding with beautiful views along the river bank on a lovely late summer afternoon. Guests met on the first floor for drinks before being taken down to the wedding on the ground floor with the ceremony being in one room and then through to the reception in an adjacent interlinking room. The lovely weather meant that we could mingle outside on the balcony over looking the river until well into the evening. Lovely food provided by both De Koffie Pot at the reception and pizzas by Rocket in the evening made for happy guests. Ended up here after helping out on the Carnival procession that finished at their venue. Although publicised for weeks (months?), this seemed to be a shock for them! The lower bar had only two staff working with a huge queue, another bar "sorry closed", and the upper bar (at the top of a tall spiral staircase) also soon became overrun). Their small vans in the courtyard that could have spread the load were also closed. Drinks were pretty poor when they arrived, and as for food? I waited an hour for a food order (that I had the sense to get in early), I was told after checking, that they had "forgot" to put it into the kitchen, and that it was "no-ones fault". If staff have the right attitude it's easy to forgive them when it's very busy, they are at the sharp end after all. Didn't feel inclined to on this occasion. There's plenty of watering holes in Hereford, I suggest you pick one of the others.

I am gutted that after paying £47.50 ahead for a xmas party meal which I expected to be a reasonable night out I was left feeling totally ripped off. There were 12 of us squashed around a table which would have seated only 8 comfortably, the only festive decor was a fairly naked tree on the edge of the 'dance floor' which was in fact smaller than my living room at home. The crackers were such poor quality they had to be seen to be believed and when my husband had the audacity to complain about the continuous use of dirty glasses he was asked to leave!!! What a joke this place really is, the bar staff were well aware there was a problem with them but still persisted in serving beer which after a few minutes had gone totally flat. I would have thought the manageress would have been well aware of the problem and got it sorted quite easily. I definitely would not recommend this place and will certainly never be back.

Vegetarian option not separated from the meat option so the greedy guts helped themselves to both. A wheat free option had clearly been pre-ordered but staff denied all knowledge. No second course. All this crap for £20 a head. Not acceptable in my opinion. Sadly I've found every function attended at the LB to be a shambles. Attended an awards ceremony at Left Bank. From our experience, this was a step too far for their capabilities! The food was served buffet style and table by table. It meant when first table had finished, the last table was just getting theirs. When we went for desserts, there was s bowl of fruit (strawberries, raspberries) at end of table. Looked like they were there to add to top of desserts such as cheesecakes. Four of our table had gone to put them on our desserts and four of us were told in very rude manner that they were gluten free option and we couldn't have any!! Turned out other tables experienced same rude service. Not sure why fruit couldn't have been for both. Plus if I had needed gluten free it was a pretty dull choice. Very worse thing was once everyone had been served.....there was still a very full bowl of fruit!! What a waste. One of dessert options was profiteroles. Ours were still frozen inside.During awards, the table clearing was going on. The number of times those collecting awards had to ask waiting staff to let them pass was unreal! PA system was terrible and couldn't hear at back of room but that probably down to awards organisers rather than venue .On the plus side, great views out over the river. Can't really think of any other positives. Clearly this venue must do other things like normal bar I guess. However if you're thinking of an event.....well from outlet experience, sadly Left Bank falls well short.

Our visit was a superb way to spend a summer Saturday evening! The eclectic mix of seating varied - covered and open areas, picnic tables for larger parties; small tables or original hay-bale semi-circles around enclosed fires for BBQs/warmth at cooler times. Sometimes live music is played on a raised, attractive stage is an excellent original idea (if not, there is quiet background music for atmosphere). It was a pleasure to visit for a relaxing drink and socialising - they serve coffees, alcoholic and soft drinks; also accommodate families. A fabulous tucked away outside venue below The Left Bank.

We went to the Left Bank for a private party. Thought the room and views were lovely, however it all went downhill once the food was served. There was roughly 40 people at the party by the time I got to the buffet table there was very little left and there was at least 10 people behind me. I was forced to have quiche and salad. As I was just starting to eat my food I noticed a maggot on my quiche, when the host approached the staff they made some offhand comment about 'extra protein'. As i was really hungry I decided to have a sandwich from the children's buffet, this was frowned upon by the staff. Unbelievably my husband then found some small shards of glass in his Salmon! Towards the end of the day we were offered a drink as 'it was unlucky that it had been both of us'. Would I recommend the Left Bank - Absolutely NOT!

We stopped off in Hereford for mid morning coffee and cake. De koffee pot is a quirky and yummy coffee cafe. Located on the River Wye and nestled in between other bars we enjoyed hot coffee and scummy cakes. As we were blessed with the weather we sat outside and admired the hay bales and the river. The cafe was bustling, we were served efficiently. Well worth a visit.

A jewel in Hereford for its fabulous location, I have to take my hat off to Gary and Karen for their superb revival of The Left Bank.Choose from the elegant roof bar and garden (with room for cartwheeling daughter), cosy Koffee Pot or outside yard with flaming braziers.Often free live music, very reasonably priced , extensive drinks menu, child and dog friendly. Yes please this is what Hereford needed. In addition there is great function space available to hire, and all sorts of inclusive social activity and classes.Thank you

Had a super pint last night while watching the river flow past. Great friendly service. Enjoyed sitting on the hay bales while the outdoor fire kept me warm.

Love the Thursday evening "Strictly Hereford" dance nights at Left Bank, what great fun I've been every Thursday for the last six weeks. Learn lots of fabulous different types of dancing, Salsa, Tango, Ballroom, Jive and Line dancing. Such good fun in the main floor of the Left Bank, Charles bar (top floor) is open on a Thursday night with experience cocktail servers, the views are beautiful of the River Wye. It's so lovely to see the place come alive now, each week there is something new going on in Left Bank, Charles bar and De Koffie Pot. Dancing, live music, debates, book club, "wild Chocolate club", "Hereford Burlesque" art exhibitions so much happening. Lunch there is light and healthy everything is local and made on site fresh, try the cookies and coffee and walnut cake my personal favourites.

I discovered this cafe while childminding my granddaughter, needing somewhere with room for a pushchair and baby changing facilities away from the bustle of the city centre. It is tucked away on the Left Bank of the Wye just by the old bridge. I love it! The staff are very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Inside it has a very rustic, relaxed, feel, unlike the modern chain cafes, and there is plenty of room to sit outside overlooking the river on a warm sunny day. They mainly do light lunches and homemade cakes( which are fabulous) and I usually have a pot of loose leaf tea with a piece of tiffin(my favourite) which are delicious. It is also licenced for alcoholic drinks and opens in the evening but I have never been then. For me the delight is having a a quiet sit down with a lovely cup of tea and cake at leisure with a the feeling that I am welcome with a small child.

Hereford is quite blessed with independent coffee shops these days but my favourite at the moment is de Koffie Pot which is in a courtyard overlooking the river behind the Left Bank development. The range of cakes is to die for, not yet tried the soup/salad options they have for lunch but it is definitely worth the walk if you happen to be parked on the other side of town. Great rustic style decor and a big outside space too. A big bonus is that dogs are allowed inside which not many places in Hereford offer.

Stopped for light lunch here at De Koffee Pot and had a Spicy Parsnip Soup with Sour-bread and a pitta bread with hummus and salad. we enjoyed both the service and the ambiance helped with a glass of rose. The location close to the river and within the grounds of the left bank is ideal.

Sitting in De Koffie Pot at the rear of the Left Bank is like sitting in your own little corner of heaven. The service is impeccable the, cakes are divine and the coffee is gourmet. With subtle background music gently tinkling and gorgeous décor I really don't want to leave!!! There's a definite buzz about the place... can't wait to see what it'll be like in the summer.

We're not usually people to complain, but we just want to make everyone aware and express our feelings on this matter. We got engaged over Christmas, it was such a magical time and we just wanted this to carry on whilst organising the wedding. We planed our ceremony at the Cathedral in Hereford, and we thought it would be a wonderful idea to be able to walk down to Left Bank and have the wedding reception there in their beautiful rustic barn! We got in contact with them and started talking dates, food, prices, ideas ect. They told us they had pencilled us in the Coach House, yet when we went to meet with the owners they turned around and told us they wouldn't actually let the Coach House out for wedding reception, which left us devastated. We weren't going to write anything as we have now found the most amazing venue and they have been so completely different - but we thought we would check that they had taken down the listing for the Coach House as a wedding reception venue. But no, two months later they still haven't! We think this is so unprofessional and want to warn other brides and grooms not to trust Left Bank if your thinking about hiring out the Coach House!

Spotted from across the swollen river, and hot-footed it over the bridge for a warming cuppa. The coffee is hot and strong. The cakes are lush looking and tasty too. Raspberry bakewell was yummy. Morroccan chocolate cake looked very gooey and rich. Good for those who've got some intolerances too as some gluten-free. It's a multi-purpose venue so some days you can go and stretch with yoga, enjoy drawing or just grab a beer near the fire pits in the evening (not all nights I think the lass behind the counter said). It's flat so good for families with kids and groups of mums in for coffee. Great old vintage style look. One of few places open on Sundays in Hereford to grab a warmer that's not a coffee-shop chain. Hereford roasted coffee !

I've been to the left bank on several occasions in the past when it was under different ownership; just for drinks and thought it was nice, so when we booked our work Christmas party (local nurses) there I was looking forward to it. At £48.50 per person, I was expecting it to be fantastic however I was very disappointed. We were wedged into our tables we could barely move, let alone eat without elbowing each other, (we ended up nicking some spare tables to make more room in the end) as it was so uncomfortable. The food was okay but not mind blowing; very very basic and lacked flavour; and lacked in portion size. We had a sliver of meat on our plates and then the veg and potatoes were given out in separate bowls. We were given one bowl to go round 20 of us (there were a total of 60 of us). We kept asking for more but we never got any. Everyone was given one tiny pig in blanket on their plates; which as a festive favourite caused quite a stir amongst the men particularly! It simply was not enough food. Despite our frequent requests they were ignored. Tea and coffee was also not part of the meal, and nor was it offered. For £48.50 per person I was incredibly disappointed. Drinks are expensive here too. We had cocktails in the upstairs bar before we went downstairs, and the server didn't know how to make most of them which again was disappointing, and they only had two staff behind the bar despite it being a fully booked up planned evening, so it took ages to get served. Plus points, it's in a lovely spot over looking the river, and the atmosphere was good (but this was mostly down to my work colleagues) and it is nicely decorated and it is modern and contemporary. As a massive foodie and cook myself, there are much better quality foodie places locally that are also much much cheaper.

Its encouraging to see a new idea in Hereford as we have so many regular coffee shops.Great location, in the courtyard of the Left Bank with indoor and outdoor seating. A really nice warm homely, rustic atmosphere. At the moment they only serve cakes but in the New Year they will be doing other food. A great place to come with all the family as there is something for everyone, you can have coffee, tea, hot chocolate, beers and wines, with the added bonus of being dog friendly. I now regularly walk my dog by the river and then call in for a coffee.great staff and service,

Whilst it is a continual source of irritation that this place isn't open properly, especially the restaurant area, the Charles Bar on the top floor is a welcome retreat on the sporadic occasions it is open. With a splendid vista over the Wye and a relaxed, classy ambience this is well worth a visit - especially as they now serve Cloudy Apple cider on draught - a divine brew if ever there was one!

Called for a drink as we stayed over in Hereford on our way through as we had heard it was open after been closed . Only the Charles Bar was open , it's nice to see it open and had a great face lift , we sat on the terrace with the view off the river . I knew Left Bank when it was first opened and it's such a shame it's not been used as it was for meals , it's a lovely venue . I hope there is more to come .

Not only am I appalled but outraged at what I had to witness in Left Bank last night in the Charles bar!! How Left bank treat their staff is shocking and alsoLudicrous as they have left themselves wide open to an Employment tribunal in my opinion! As professional bar staff offering exquisite service and with a smile on their face (which lets be honest doesn't happen in every bar in Hereford) up until now Left Bank has been a joy toVisit after its recent re opening. However last night we, the public had to witness a some what worse for wear young lady (who apparently turned out to be the owners daughter) arrive at the Charles Bar and after being refused any alcohol, as she had clearly had way to much the Bar Manager made a professional and sensible decision in my opinion on this, she decided to very publicly threaten all the bar staff with the phrase "you will have to justify this to my father tomorrow" To which the bar staff professionally carried on serving a bar full of people. The worst however is yet to come, the owner ofLeft Bank appeared not too long after this incident only to commence a full on attack on a particular member of the bar staff raising her voice and conduct what I can only refer to as a) a very public and unprofessional chastisement in full view and earshot of all other staff and all of their paying clientele in the Charles Bar b) seemingly contravene employment law in a very public dismissal on the spot of a member of staff! Like I expressed in my opening sentence I was appalled and outaged at what we had to witness and at the treatment of their staff, they should be ashamed of themselves, moreover the member of staff (Jade I believe her name was when I enquired before leaving) has been very unfairly dismissed and should be seeking legaladvice on her position, as this incident was clearly mishandled by an owner who seems to think that you can treat your staff in an abhorrent fashion, and what's more all this because the owners daughter decided to pull rank on a professional team! What a shame, if this is how you treat your staff Left Bank then you will no longer be receiving my custom!

Was on a guided historical walk of Hereford City, our leader noticed the gates to the car park of Left Bank were open, so our group of eleven followed him in, to hear a short five minute discussion about the River Wye. A member of staff came to the balcony and shouted very loudly at us that it was private property & that we were trespassing, we told him that we were on a guided tour & would only be a few minutes, to which we were told they had been burgled recently & the police had advised them to keep the gates locked - strange that they were unlocked & we were able to gain access. Made us all think that if this was the way the staff spoke to members of the public, then no way would any of us ever put a foot inside the restaurant

We stayed here overnight and booked the restaurant for our evening meal. Lovely staff, in a lovely surrounding. It’s a shame it was dark so we couldn’t see the views. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts and we managed to enjoy all three. In the morning, the breakfast menu was plentiful and the sausage and bacon from a local butcher were very tasty.

England's Gate is a traditional British Pub and should be proud that it lives up such expectations. The food and the service was excellent. My wife had a steak which was very good. I had the steak and ale pie which was exceptional (especially for those who wish to have some comfort food occasionally . Pity more is not made of the 'pie of the day' as it was obviously hand crafted and had a very generous filling of tender and tasty steak. I was a little unsure of what I would get when ordering as the description and lead me to believe it might be 'brought in'. Top marks when it arrived and looked and tasted great. This (and perhaps other great items on the menu) should be heralded as a special dish (as it clearly was) . Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to go back and sample the food and atmosphere again. Super place, well above average food.
