Traditional South Indian Pure Vegetarian Restaurant. Serving the best tasty idli, dosa, Utapam and thali. Very reasonable in price to dine out. Lots of choices on the menu. Great atmosphere with attentive service. Lunch time menu is so cheap to dine in for a thali.

Herb is a magnificent gem in the Leicester culinary crown. The green papaya stew, accompanied by kallappam, was masterfully prepared. The temperature of the cooked food was hot (not lukewarm); the salad was very fresh and cold. Presentation was impeccable. Service was faultless. The music was a little louder than preferred (hence, the four, instead of five, star Atmosphere rating). We did not order desert but we did order coffee. True to form, it was superb and beautifully presented. I highly recommend Herb.

Truly an excellent vegetarian restaurant, service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was amazing. The single largest dosa I have ever seen or eaten. Truly a gem of the Leicester food scene. Visit them or their sister restaurant Kayal, just across the road.

Without a doubt the best veggie Indian restaurant (and one of the best veggie or not) I have ever been to.

Beautiful ambience and decor. Taste wise it's disappointed as food is mostly bland and doesn't suit my pallet. Would have got the value for their steep prices, had the server checked with me for the spice level.

Third time here. Food is great. Staff is incredibly friendly. Atmosphere is very good. I tried a few dishes here. All were good but spinach dosa and briyani are awesome. You don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy these dishes.

We visited Herb at lunch and had the Business Thali. This is not on the menu so you just need to ask for it. The food was absolutely delicious and very tasty. The venue is gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. A must have if you love Indian food and for £5.95 it’s an absolute bargain. Would highly recommend.

Excellent food with lots of dishes I've not seen on the menu of other S Indian restaurants. The staff were really friendly and informative. We were looked after by Ardash who was great.

Wow. What a wonderful, authentic restaurant. The staff were so lovely and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend the Koonu curry and the papaya stew. We came for my husband’s birthday dinner as it is the first time visiting Leicester and we were not disappointed. Well done all at Herb Leicester. Amazing place to eat.

Really great vegetarian food. I had the Slim Thali and it was plentiful for a lunchtime meal, as well as giving a delicious range of different flavours.

Lovely waiting staff. Gorgeous decor and ambience. The soups are fragrant, with an exacting balance of heat and flavour. These guys are certainly feeders. The level of food for the cost is fantastic. I tried many dishes I had not had before by ordering the Thali. The mushroom, cauliflower, and aubergine curries were my favourite. I am a meat eater and I have eaten at their sister restaurant (The Kayal). Both restaurants are of a high standard. Herb is definitely worth the visit even if you are a meateater. I probably do prefer The Kayal, but mainly because their fish curries are so amazing.

Do yourself a favour and have the thali, always great food, service can be patchy and the menu never changes. But on the whole solid

An amazing afternoon at Herb. I really do not know how they manage to make the food taste so good. The staff are brilliant at being attentive but not fawning. The prices are very reasonable and the portions plentiful. If anyone wants to go out for a meal in Leicester then I would highly recommend Herb ( quick note: their sister restaurant, Kayal, is also incredible)

Parking your stupid cars all over the pavement with your restaurant/bar logo on as free advertising is incredibly selfish. People have mobility scooters and pushchairs. The pavement is for pedestrians. But you clearly don't care about anyone or anything but money. Shame on you

The portions sizes are huge. I swear the biryani I ordered could feed a small family.

Best vegan restaurant in the UK!!

We had the lunchtime Thali (the "Business Lunch") and it was very, very good with several veg curries, beetroot rice a dhosa with chutneys - incredibly good value. We also had the chilli paneer and an ada pradhaman for pudding - lovely! We were only visiting Leicester for two days and tried to sample as much delicious Indian food as possible, we will certainly remember the lovely Keralan flavours at Herb.

Herb is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely environment and absolutely amazing food. The staff were wonderful and I had an amazing Valentine's day here.

One of the best restaurant in Leicester to experience southern Indian food, what a delight it was. We ordered Rava Masala Dosa and Masala Dosa with mango lassi, absolutely mind boggling taste. Had a nostalgic moment!!! Food served perfectly justifies its price point. Ambiance is nice and staff is supper polite. Definitely reccomended.

My experience in Herb was totally fantastic. The service was spot on, the atmosphere was amazing. The decor and ambient lighting was perfect. The food was superbly cooked using amazing delicate spices which made my dish absolutely delectable. Every bite was like the first. The explanation of each dish i got from the waitress was amazing. Definately recommend this place. Hats off to the chefs.

We had dinner on Friday evening and the place was buzzing. Staff were accommodating to our large group and the food was delicious with very generous portions, first time that I've had a biryani wrapped in a banana leaf!

This is one place in leicester where once youve been here you wil go again and again why as there moto says," atthithi devo bhavah". This restaurant has amazing food, portions are huge. Staff is so humble and polite, the atmosphere is just magic. Plenty of parking around the corner from the restaurant. You HAVE to try them.

I would give more stars if I could! Food was DELICIOUS! Service was above and beyond! I would recommend Herb to everyone! We celebrated my wife's birthday as a group of 19 and every one of us was overwhelmed with the friendliness and care given by everyone at Herb!

Went for a pre theatre dinner and had the thali. Food was fresh and fabulous. Comfy, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were lovely. Suprise magic act by a magician at the table. He was brilliant. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The Special Thali was brilliant. Starter: spicy soup, main: eight small curries, rice, puri, and a couple of extras, dessert: a spicy, sweet celebratory treat. All presented beautifully and served by friendly staff. On atmosphere-- Magic Amit entertained. Fun card and coin tricks at the table. Could lower the music a bit and remove the televisions for a five for atmosphere. They spoil the conversation a little. Overall, highly recommended, especially for anyone who likes vegetarian food.

Best quality South Indian food I have ever eaten in the UK.

First ever visit, I like meat and really spicy food...Herb had neither, but this was the best Indian meal I have ever had. Beautiful food served by people that clearly have a passion for what they do. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Beautiful ambience, Friendly staff & good food. It's a nice place to visit & experience authentic Kerala food. Sometimes it's busy so better to call in advance and book a table if you don't want to wait. Staff will frequently come and ask is everything okay, it's Indian hospitality. Please don't feel differently about it. I like the way they do it. In some restaurants, we have to wave our hand too many times. But here they will come and ask you. It's a collective service here. It means you may have all the staff come to your table in different times while they are serving others.

Absolutely delicious food in beautiful, relaxed surroundings. Visited today for the thalis and we were blown away by the portion sizes and high quality. There's something for everyone, from simple budget lunches to really lavish celebration meals. Lovely service, too.

Drove up to Leicester to visit Herb just for their dosa and the drive was worth it. On arrival, we were greeted at the door and shown to a table. Moments later, a waiter came and took us the menus. As a vegetarian restaurant, they had a wide selection of food, as much as I’d love to try everything on the menu, the portions are large so you’ll definitely be stuffed after one dish. We ordered the idli as starters and went for dosa for mains. The Idlis were good size, I would have like to have a bit more samba but it was delicious. As a massive fan of paneer, I went for the paneer dosa and my girlfriend went for the masala dosa, we both struggled to finish lol. I would have liked a bit more spice but I understand not everyone likes spice but never the less, they were amazing. As it’s Dosa fest, all dosas are £4.95, I’m not sure how long the offer is on for.

In a nutshell, my experience here was underwhelming. Despite a descent interior, the frozen parathas and roti, sluggish service, and steep prices left much to be desired. I won't be returning anytime soon. 🍽️ who eats frozen paratha at this price ???

Brilliant food and great service by Kayal 🤟

Wow! Herb was amazing! We had the thali and would highly recommend. A mix of curry dishes served with rice and puri - all of the curry’s were so full of flavour and completely different from one another. We will be going back and trying some of the other dishes because there was so much choice for vegans! Our server, Gopika, was so friendly and kept topping us up with water throughout the meal.

Great place for vegans and vegetarians… and everyone else. Didn’t have a chance to try out their cocktail bar next door, but it’s definitely next on the list.

Went here for dinner with my husband and a friend on a Monday evening. We had such a lovely time. The decor was lovely, and the atmosphere was great - not too casual but not too fancy either, perfect for a date night. Our waiter, Finil, was attentive but not overbearing and allowed us to take our time. The food was delicious! With good sized portions. And such a great choice of vegan options. I highly recommend for vegans, veggies and meat eaters alike and I can't wait to visit again.

4 days in Leicester and 3 lunches at Herb. They are so so brilliant. The vegetarian business lunch set is so filling only at £5.95. There’s an offer at the moment for any dosa at £4.99. Amazing value. Service excellent as ever. We eat there regularly when in Leicester. Where else is there to go? By the way, we are not even vegetarians.

We enjoyed dosas for a late lunch. The portion was generous, the meal was tasty and it was exceptional value at £4.99! Service was attentive. All in all a lovely way to start our visit to Leicester.

Fantastic food and service. Very friendly/welcoming staff, happy to explain any of the dishes and help select choices. The food was full of flavour! I can highly recommend the Herb Special Thali (variety of dishes like a tapas). You won't regret visiting this place.

Looking for a lunch spot with a friend and found Herb. We had the £4.95 Dosa offer, which is available from 12.00 to 5.00 every day ( i think🤔) I started with the soup-cumin and coriander- hot and very tasty. We chose the masala dosa and the paneer dosa. Both were absolutely delicious, well stuffed with generous portions of filling. The Dosa comes with 3 chutney that compliments the meal. The decor of the restaurant is great, carved wood panels, low lights, chunky wood tables. You dont feel like you are in Leicester, you feel transported away. Absolutely great spot, less than 10mins walk from the train ststion. I will definitely visit again.

Only one comment, a sharing platter for four people, had three of everything! Made it tricky to share. Otherwise, a wonderful, wonderful place

Not much to say other than five stars all round. I wish there was a Herb in my city!! The menu is unique, and if your a veggie it's paradise

I went during lunchtime and opted for the herb dosa - vegan. The portion size was large with a good potato stuffing mixture. I could taste the coriander and mint within the inner lining of the dosa which came with a 3 chutneys - coriander & mint, tamarind and coconut. The sambar was full of flavour, not too hot just delicately balanced spices. The service was great, water was topped up and the place was very clean and had a good ambiance about it. I have visited this establishment 3 times now and each time I'm left wondering if this is the best veggie restaurant in Lestah. It's a compelling yes from me and I urge meat eaters to make a trip and take your taste buds on an unexplored adventure.

The food was incredible! I am coeliac and they catered for me so well! Majority of their menu is gluten free and they were so brilliant at advising me on my options. The food was so delicious and the portion sizes were great. The service was so friendly, helpful and speedy! We got a lovely warm welcome, we will definitely be coming back!
