Visited here today for the first time and really enjoyed it! We sat outside in the sun and had the quiche off the specials board and a panini and soup and it’s dog friendly so even better :) Will recommend to others!

Would recommend this cafe. Great homemade quiche and soup. Good panini filling combinations and choices. Friendly and efficient staff. We loved the eclectic tables and chairs. Worth seeking out. We found that the easiest free non-disc parking is at the square up the hill about at Fleming Place c. 100m away.

During the pandemic, I wanted to treat friends and family to a little something that would remind them of going out for a treat during isolation. So I ordered three scones with jam and cream for afternoon tea and a gluten free treat for myself, to takeaway and deliver. Well what a treat. They were beautifully presented on owners’ plates, not on cardboard or plastic, and all were delicious. Such an incredible treat during a difficult time.

Debbie is a great not only serving great food and drinks but her taste in furniture is unfortunately for me, the same as mine I’ve had a few items from her shop and take my friends and family there. Debbie’s prices are fair. If you have a few minutes to spare go for a cuppa and have a browse. She also has a outside area where you can get lost in time just the peaceful space to have a good catch up with friends. When ever I’ve needed something some how Debbie has the very thing I need.

Arriving in Maryport after a 6 hour drive from Hampshire, we were hungry and looking for lunch. Hitting up TripAdvisor for a recommendation we spotted this well-regarded eatery in the top spot. Being far too hangry and exhausted to really contemplate a more rigorous search we immediately settled for the easy choice in favour of quick, convenient nourishment. What we found was a wonderfully characterful & charming establishment, friendly & welcoming with eccentric, colourful decoration emphasising the informal, intimate nature of the place. The fact the food was not only edible but delicious & appropriately portioned further added to our enjoyment. Even our attachment to cashless payment (remember to bring hard currency if you intend to dine here) didn't detract from the delightful experience we both had. My only regret was not indulging in one of the many tantalising treats on display; hopefully next time we can partake in a coffee and a tasty cake! Thoroughly recommended.

Whilst it is located in the centre of perhaps not the most prosperous town (albeit Georgian) in the environs of the Lake district it is a tribute to Debbie and Dave that they are able to sustain their standards which are high. When in the area it would be a shame, in my opionion, if you did not visit this treasure; I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Such a lovely warm welcome from Ian, the server. He was so attentive throughout our time there. It is a limited menu but everything we had and we went twice in three days in Keswick, tasted great. There was three types of soup to choose from which came with different accompaniments, ie, sourdough toast, spicy chickpea bun ect. There was also a choice of about five different types of cake and I can highly recommend the ginger and raspberry with extra fruit compote. Note it's cash only and closed Sunday and Monday. Soon as we go back to Keswick we are going back to Chintys.

Precis: Wow! Excellent! Any other superlative you choose! Full review: What a wonderful gem of a find! From the start the welcome was warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Gary, Donna and their team; what a diamond they have found in Jack! The quality of the furnishings is very high, the fittings top class and the home made biscuits in the bedroom were delicious! Even a welcome decanter of sherry to start off your stay! The hallway walls are adorned with award plaques from numerous organisations! The grounds were extensive and very well kept. We had read about the wild red squirrels and hoped we may get to spot one - no fears there; we watched them running around the garden and feeder each day! Now for the food! Absolutely excellent! Each evening started at 7pm with canapés and good conversation with fellow guests, most of whom seem to be repeat visitors, with good reason! Gary is very personable and quite the bon viveur, his knowledge of wine is excellent, after all by his own admission he has been in the game for a good number of years! The four course dinner menu is set, no choices, but the menu is on display each morning and I'm sure that alternatives could be organised if enough notice were given. Each course was exquisite, served piping hot (where appropriate!) and presented beautifully, as was the table in general. Service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was just as good! Hazel Bank has seven rooms and the restaurant is open only to residents. All this means that each guest gets very personal, and personable, service from start to finish! If you think that this review is a little enthusiastic then I doubt you've visited! Don't get me wrong, it isn't for everybody and nowhere is totally perfect, but Hazel Bank gets VERY close!
