What a beautiful place, with fantastic food, hubby had the duck, he said was the best he had every eaten, I had the pork belly which also was delicious, the mulled cider was yum, service was good, did have to chase drinks, but was busy period, will definitely go back.

The food was ok but not good value for money as having to purchase additional vegetables for a Sunday roast meal is not good. The presentation was fair but underneath the beef was 1 carrot and 3 potatoes with lots of kale scattered around the dish. The staff were friendly but slow in service. One guest ordered a poached pear which was £7.50 and it was not cooked very well, hard to cut and overly expensive. We would not return here for a meal as better restaurants in town for less money. The Joules beer was the main positive for our visit.

Dropped in by the off chance after the nauseating ales on offer over the road. First off maybe a better layout, its up and down, narrow and dimly Tudor lit. So much so its too dark by the bar to read the menu. One loo upstairs, amazed there wasnt a massive queu cinsudering place packed inside and out. Greeted, just had to try Joules Moon Madness. Almost a perfect pint, so sublime i had to refrain from drinking too quick.

Super super. I'd say 4 pubs make it into my all time favourites (railwayman in Bridgnorth, the barrels in Hereford, the victory in Hereford (only how it used to be with the brewery out the back, it's gone downhill now) and this Henry Tudor pub). Maybe I'm being a bit unfair to many of the other great pubs I've visited but the Henry Tudor feels like one of a kind. It's dark (in a nice cosy way), it's old, smells slightly woody and theres a lot of interesting history in the pub. Interesting displays such as the cigars and funny portraits of famous people in an old Tudor style. There's a log fire which wasn't in use during my visit. It's dog friendly and has a decent selection of ales (I had a pint of Dunkel, one of my favourite beer styles and it was a welcome treat). Well worth checking out.

Rude doorwoman an awful experience on Saturday evening. We were out with friends and whilst waiting for our husbands inside Henry Tudor we ordered drinks, we are longstanding customers. It was only 6pm and the pub wasn’t busy. A very rude blonde door woman refused our husbands entrance, even though they explained we were in the pub. They were left outside in the pouring rain. She was more interested in chatting to her friend leaning against a car. We had to leave our drinks and exit. When I challenged her she was aggressive and unprofessional. I am stunned that Joules pubs support this behaviour. We will not be returning again and the door woman needs customer service training she was horrid.

Service would have got a lower mark (but the staff were very friendly and helpful) as it was incredibly slow, 15 mins for starter, (Terrine) which was awful, overpowering taste of black pepper so couldn’t taste anything else, 10 mins for main which was actually good (beef cheeks) 20 minutes for VERY disappointing dessert (chocolate mousse) which probably had a teaspoon of mousse in a chocolate shell for £10!) within this time it also took around 10-15 minutes twice for drinks we had ordered (margaritas which must have had 20ml of liquid in the glass) to be delivered to the table. Overall poor service, & vastly overpriced food and drinks, We WERE asked and we gave this feedback to the server who said she would pass it on. Would NOT recommend. For context this was a late birthday outing for a friend, we are both retired Chèf’s of some standing, I also, when I lived in Shrewsbury 10 years ago, had a beautiful and perfect wedding meal here, how things have changed. We passed several different places to eat in the walk to here and now wished we’d eaten in one of those. Nearly £110 for two people for this level of food and service was unacceptable. Would NOT recommend.

Pork confit was sooooo dry, very hard to swallow. I had to ask for gravy and sauce to be able to cut and chew it. Portions were very small for the price (~£20) with fries and greens to be added. Choc mousse was ~£10 for a teaspoon of choc mousse with a small dome of choc shell hiding it. Overall, would recommend many other places to eat in Shrewsbury over this place.

What a treat to discover this perfect pub! We stopped off for lunch en route to Wales, and spent a wonderful hour in the atmospheric surroundings of the Henry Tudor Inn, exploring the nooks and crannies, reading the informative boards on the walls filled with the history of the inn, admiring the regal pop star portraits (you'll have to drop in and see!) and eating their divine food. Service was so good - friendly and funny - and we will definitely come back to sample more local ales when we don't have to drive on.

The choice of ales are original, unique and great tasting. The food is beautiful. The place is a tardis, it looks tiny from the main road but you go inside and it just keeps getting bigger. This Sunday lunch with family was a little disappointing, it does seem to have gone off the boil since opening. We have eaten at The Henry Tudor a couple of times before inc. Sunday Lunch but this simply wasn't as good. We all had Roast Beef and the whole plateful at best just warm, with two very small bowls of veg, between four. One of the party requested a side order of Roast Potatoes, 4 small potatoes came in a dish. at an extra charge of £4.50 !!! In summary, the service was very good, the food disappointing.

Unfortunately this ended up being such a disappointment to our trip as we were so looking forward to our evening here. First we got sat at the wrong table instead of the one we reserved....but were moved when we asked. Then sat 45 mins without so much as a drink order even though it wasn't all that busy. We had to go up and ask to be served and honestly think they forgot about us as the waiter just looked at me surprised. Once we ordered and got our starters we still sat for 20 more mins with no drinks (about an hour and 15 mins after we arrived )so had to go up and ask again for our wine..which is when the evening started to get annoying. When our mains finally arrived we were given a butter knife with the steak which was awkward and noone was to be found to get a knife that cut meat so we made do. Food was OK. The pie was very tasty. Steak was alright though the whole dish lacked flavour. When the bill came we were charged for wine, beers and sodas that we didn't have so once again had to get up and have that fixed as well. Mistakes happen, but the whole evening was a calamity of careless errors. Definitely felt like the staff needed a lot more training.

Staff are so welcoming and friendly, the food has so much taste to it such great value for money. The atmosphere and history of the place is something you will not want to miss out on. Overall sensational experience dining here. Would definitely recommend

Would've got 5 stars because the food was brilliant and the setting inside the pub was great. Unfortunately, the service let the side down. Nothing wrong with the staffs attitude, they were friendly and pleasant.....but they seemed to forget about us. It was a Sunday afternoon booking and they weren't busy at all. But it took quite a while before we got served. Starter and main were fine, but after they brought the dessert menu, they disappeared, never to return. And again, they weren't busy at all. Tbh, we could've got up and walked out without paying if we wanted since there was no-one around, but we did find someone to settle up. If the staff had their act together more I would've given this place 5 stars.

Such nice staff and night portier! He brought me a blanket at 01:30 am! And the cleaning ladies who washed our clothes after dirty night in London! Best ever!
