We have used Hei Kitchen for a few years now and have never had it quite so bad, although it has been going downhill for some time now. The order was simple with small requests to change the order slightly (remove certain food items from the dish itself). Unfortunately our requests were not met and to add insult to injury the chips were incredibly disappointing as they were all brown as they were soaked in grease.

Chicken fried rice was inedible, chicken ball were nice but the sweet and sour sauce tasted strange. Fruity beef was nice but very watery and didn’t come with the free rice.

Unfortunately no prawn crackers were delivered with our order despite purchasing

This is definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways in town. The crispy chilli beef is actually beef, not just batter. You can taste fruit in sweet and sour sauce, not just sugar. The egg fried rice is light and fluffy. The only downside is the portion sizes for the rice and for chips seems to have shrunken, and is smaller than you'll find elsewhere.

Food is good, but unfortunately the owners are very unhelpful and rude. It saddens me as I've never had to write a negative review before. I ordered through Just East and the delivery time kept being pushed back, i tried called them 19 times with no answer. So I had to leave my daughter with my neighbour to go to Hei Kitchen to find out where my order was. There was a que of delivery drivers and another couple who had ordered but had to pick up their food too. When I final got to the front, I asked why no body was answering the phone? I was told that there is only 2 of them and too many phone calls coming. Surely they should hire more people if they can not cope with getting orders out on time or even to just answer the phone to let paying customers know there is a delay. But when I explained this to the owner she just closed her eyes and ignored me, with no apology. In fact I was told that I was not Hei Kitchen's problem, as I was a customer of "Just Eat" and they only receive 40% so I should complain directly to Just Eat. It's a sad situation, I feel sorry for Hei Kitchen as the food is quite good, but the customer service is non-existent. Due to this I would not recommend if you require your food in a timely manner, and expect some sort of customer service/ explanation or reassurance your food is being prepared.

Was disappointed with my beef Szechuan, it was more vegetable with about 5 pieces of beef. My daughters sweet and sour sauce was more like marmalade and had a strange taste so she didn’t eat it. Our chicken dumplings were burnt, overall not the best we’ve had from here and been using for over two years.

Order was an hour later than originally stated, some complimentary prawn crackers might have been a nice touch. The food was really good but not as hot as it could have been.

Very quick service and large portions

Pretty poor experience. We have tried it earlier in the year and we loved it, but this time around was yesterday's food, reheated. I do not know whether we ordered too early and they just hadn't started the kitchen or whether they wanted to get rid of left-overs, but no excuse, really. Worst meal I have had for a pretty steep price. Never again.

Dry ribs burnt BBQ sauce. Raw vegetables in the noodles. I waited and hour for delivery. The driver expected me to pay a second time . Will never use you again rubbish.

No prawn crackera arrived with order!

Satay sauce was not satay sauce as I know it, beef with green pepper was also not as good as previous orders so won't order again sorry

Been ordering from Hei Kitchen for years, always great. But this order our request to make without egg was ignored so we can't eat the fried rice. And despite it saying on the mains subtitle that they come with complementary rice they don't, and when I pointed this out to the lady on the phone she got really aggressive "no it doesn't" and ended the call, so won't be ordering from here again!

Did not deliver sweet and sour chicken balls, would like a refund for that please

Lovely food, chicken was really good quality, no slimy like you can get in other places. Best prawn toast I’ve had in ages. Sweet and sour sauce wasn’t to my liking but everything else was great.

My go-to Chinese takeaway! I especially love the dim sum and crispy shredded beef. The delivery is always fast and food delicious 😋

Would be better if their microwave stopped working. Terrible food, cold, soggy / sopping chicken balls and the chicken is rock hard underneath. Better out than in.

Horrible, noodles are on pieces, they forgot 1 of the items in the shop. The shop delivered a wrong item that I didn’t order. I had to call back and wait for the food to be sent again. Can I cancel everything and get my money back. I am not happy

Order was just shy of £50, no free prawn crackers, everywhere else you have to spend literally £15 for them. Meat was really fatty, awful curry. Won’t be ordering again anytime soon.

Sadly the meat was chewy and hard and we ended up leaving it as it didn’t taste nice.

This is without doubt the poorest take away iv had in Cheltenham the tia fish cakes was uneatable the curry sauce was very poor will not go there again

Best Chinese I've had in Cheltenham so far. Ordered twice from here. My favourite is the king prawns and bbq pork fried rice!! I'm not that impressed with the chicken and the wontons can have more filling in them. Overall definitely going to keep ordering here :)

Please don’t put courgettes in the salt and pepper prawn! Couldn’t be further away from authentic! Dim sum was ok….. a little bit gloopy but that’s expected when it’s a delivery service

What a shame I have had some pretty good food from this place but after having a take away I will not be going back,firstly delivery was half an hour late with no communication ,the food was lukewarm .I had small spare ribs in black bean sauce ,the quantity was ridiculous ,6 tiny ribs about a centimetre in length each ,the size is normal for this dish but the amount was a rip off for £5 .I then had there ‘House famous ‘pork in soya sauce which I had had before ,this was awful,bland and not a dish that should have left a Cantonese kitchen .They have lost the plot .

Soy sauce tasted off. Crispy noodles at nearly £10 were soft and flavourless. All was just warm. The quality has gone down and the price has gone up. We won’t be ordering from here again.

Missed off one of our dishes, they did redeliver it but obviously had to wait till that came so we could eat it. Cause it was an hour late it was already cold so had to re-heat. The food was nice once re heated but obviously because we had to reheat I’ve left poor review. driver however was lovely and so apologetic.

First and last time ordering from here. Ordered for when I finished a 13 hour shift expecting a nice hot curry. Instead it came early when I was still working. Rang them to explain the situation and was told, even though they said it was their mistake, there was nothing they could do. I asked for another curry for when I ordered it and was told no. Very bad customer service. Never again

I ordered two meat servings because I find whenever you go to a Chinese they barely give you any meat- with Hei Kitchen I was shocked because when they said "chicken and mushroom" it really was mostly chicken and mushroom which is such a rare thing these days. Thanks for giving such nice meat portions!

Ordered 18:17 20:23 food not here. Rang them multiple times and was told will be there in ten minutes each time.

Thought flavour was lacking and a bit bland with chicken noodles and chicken fried rice. Also ordered BBQ spare ribs that from other restaurants would fall off the bone but had to work to get the meat off. It’s a shame because service and delivery time was superb.

Just had a dinner from here. It was terrible. The rice was mushy, the sweet and sour chicken balls were flat and not crispy and the sauce tasted of tropical squash and was just a jelly that would not melt in the microwave. Yuk! never again.

Great value for money - huge dishes and additional sides of rice with many of the selections which is an added bonus. Food was piping hot and obviously freshly prepared. Very happy.

Pretty disappointing. The food wasn't very warm and it was bland. The noodles weren't crispy. The spring rolls we cold, soggy and had hardly any filling. It was also quite expensive. Wouldn't go to again and wouldn't recommend.

Disgusting service and disgusting telephone manner. 1.5 hours to wait for an order and they signed it off as delivered. Apparently it’s still on the kitchen and will be another hour. Absolutely dreadful service. Never again

Pre ordered on the app as its Christmas Eve delivered 10 mins early. I was kept informed of progress food very good like it always is.

Really lovely comforting food shared by me and my 5 year old. The dim sum selection and comforting Wonton soup really helped sort out my cold and helped me feel better. Second time ordered will definitely be back.

I've been a loyal user of Hei Kitchen but that will now end. I was friendly with the owner and on first-name terms. I ordered Soft Beef Noodles, Special Fried rice and a Chicken satay starter. The latter two dishes were okay, but the beef in the noodles was awful. It was dry and tough, my daughter couldn't eat it. Because I used Just Eat, I complained to them and I even supplied photos. Their reply said they spoke with the restaurant and did not believe me. So I will now avoid Hei Kitchen and based on the numerous ONE-STAR reviews, I suggest you don't risk it.

Asked for a mild curry. Came as a hot one. Prawn balls were all squashed from the delivery. Food caked in oil.

No problems yet again - our 'go-to' Chinese didn't fail us this time either! Thanks for coming out and crunching through the snow still on our driveway!

Worst chicken fried rice I've ever had stodge rice with manky papers and some green thing that looked like cucumber chips were cold and curry sauce was way to spicy waste of money

mixed up the flavours of curry one was mild and one was medium so the mild could be eaten but the medium wasnt eaten the chips was over cooked and the shredded beef was over cooked so was like powder

Sweet and sour sauce was uneatable, tasted like it was made with tropical fruit juice cordial, not a good sign if a Chinese takeaway can't make sweet sour sauce. Vegetables in garlic sauce was rather like having chop suey as was mainly beansprouts. King Prawns in oyster sauce had no oyster sauce added. Probably the worst I have had ever from any Chinese takeaway unfortunately

We are regulars at Hei Kitchen but we're disappointed at the taste of the food. It was not up to normal standard.

First order from Hei Kitchen. My noodle dish was quite good and my wifes duck and pancakes was very good. Now we come to the pork ribs. They looked awful and tasted even worse. They were small pieces of pork bone covered in gristle and fat and seemed to have been stewed. We binned them after I had dared to try one, which I spat out immediately. Disgusting.

Can only give 1 star as no Zero option. Terrible food from this place. £25 for what looked like reheated left overs. Chips were soggy and dripping in grease. Phoned to ask for refund to be told "No refunds as we can't resell your food". All food went in the bin. Will never order from here ever again.
