Hazlewood Cafe in Selby

I visited over the war weekend, very friendly staff. good value. would recommend stopping for refreshment. I got a much better reception here than I did at the public house in Grosmont.

A lovely place to stop and rest the legs and have a nice cake and cup of tea or a light meal. We visited on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed sitting in the garden, an enjoyable visit

We had tea and a cake and both were great. Nice dog-friendly garden and everything spotlessly clean.

Called today while visiting beautiful Grosmont, scone was old and dry, treacle tart did not taste anything like treacle and my brother took back his date and walnut loaf complaining it was very dry and the proprietor put his hand on the cake saying it felt moist to him. Obviously he wasn't about eat it after that Needless to say we won't be coming back to Hazelwood coffee shop again

Stopped by on a train trip, we didn’t consult trip advisor first, sadly. Nice location but food was bland. Lentil soup was tasteless, toasties were ok. There looked like some better choices in the area.

This place is opposite the main NYMR car park in Grosmont and seems pleasant and well run. Nice outside seating areas offering sun or shasde to your taste.

Great little coffee shop, lovely friendly staff, a great cup of tea and so peaceful and relaxing .....Cakes and Scones are nice and fresh

Called in for some refreshment after an exhilarating ride on the local steam train. A lovely place and gardens with seating outside and in with a good choice of home made cakes, buns, sandwiches ect. But when I came to pay which was quite a lot (For 3 people) the answer l got was "Sorry, it's cash only". Couldn't believe it, a thriving little gold mine establishment like this in 2019 that doesn't accept credit cards. Must be because it's in deep Yorkshire for some reason. So I had the embarrassment of having to ask my wife for some cash. If we weren't so tired and hungry, l would have walked out and found another eating place, and Hazelwood would have lost out on the trade. (Had to queue a long time on bad legs as well). At least the food was excellent, but next time we visit, we will probably eat elsewhere. (SOMEWHERE THAT TAKES CREDIT CARDS)

A choice of filter coffee or filter coffee with warm milk or cold milk. No other choice. Cakes looked dry and not much choice Come on guys, get with the times. You have a lovely situation but not taking the opportunity to offer a decent selection of anything else.

But we wouldn’t rush back. My cake was rather dry, others had ice cream which were fine. The coffee tasted like instant. Just a bit disappointing as the signs said “as seen on TV”. Staff friendly and nice to sit in the garden.

Lovely surroundings and an interesting place to watch the world and the trains go by .... However two slices of cake ordered were both pretty poor with the Treacle Tart being solid and inedible.

i came here for a sausage roll which was yummy,my brother had a coffee and his partner had an icelolly. Is a lovely little cafe with a nice outdoor seating area.

Good place to stop for a quick meal, clean and tidy with outside or inside seating, could do with more than one toilet

Myself and my partner love it here!! We always sit outside and are always made to feel extremely welcome by staff and the owners!! Garden setting is beautiful and dogs are welcome. Food is reasonably priced and tasty. Please visit if in the area!! Support local businesses who are working hard to provide a positive customer experience

Generous serving of tea for two, delicious pork pie and gorgeous lemon tart - I’ve a very sweet tooth and it was deeply satisfied!

We caught the NYMR steam locomotive from Whitby to Grosmont ... stepped off the train and within a few yards found these wonderful picturesque tea rooms.The staff were very friendly and provided great service. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. We had toasties, tea & cake!The next time we are in Whitby we will definitely make a special journey to visit Hazelwood Tea Rooms.

The Tea Rooms are in a lovely location in a lovely village with a lovely train station. The service however was almost non-existent and certainly unfriendly, we wont be going back, the Signal Tea Rooms will be getting our custom.
