Was very impressed with the selection of sandwiches and cakes in the afternoon tea. We had one gf and one regular afternoon tea and were both very happy. Staff were friendly and provided a box so we could take home leftover cakes. Best gluten free scone I have ever had so would really recommend.

5/5Beautifully made scones & excellent customer service in a lovely setting. We had a fruit scone with cream & jam, & a cheese scone with tea & a latte. Tea was served in a pot with delightful tea cups & saucers. Perfect place for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or just a hot drink & a cake. Can’t wait for my next visit & maybe try a cake as they looked delicious too!

I couldn't recommend Hatters Tea Shop more! Unfortunately I have never visited the tea shop itself, but had heard good reviews from friends who had been. As such, I decided to order a corporate high tea package for my team last week. The communication and service was excellent throughout, with all the boxes arriving on time ahead of the event, intact! The high tea was hand wrapped in beautiful packaging, you could tell a lot of time and care was taken to package each box. Now to the food.... wow! A very tasty selection of traybakes and homemade scones with local jam and cream to add to the yumminess. There was more than enough for one, but because it was so delicious you can't stop yourself from eating it all in one sitting (despite how full you may be!). You can even add a small bottle of prosecco to the box, which helps get the party started! The overall experience was superb, from start to finish. Will 100% be paying a visit to the tea shop now.

We’ve been coming to Hatters for years during our Cromer visits, twice this week in fact !! We were so relieved to see Hatters open again after the first lockdown and pleased to report they’ve hardly changed, just a few less tables. Simply amazing afternoon tea, and really nice staff who go out of their way to help and with all the safety measures you’d expect. I’d advise booking ahead as it’s a place in demand, rightly so as well. Hatters just seems to get better every time we visit. I hope (and am quietly confident) it’s doors open again in December, to it’s loyal crowd. We’ll be back, rest assured.

This was our second visit to Hatters. The first time was in July when we hadn't booked, but got lucky with a table for two. It was so friendly, with delicious cakes & great coffee, I wanted my elderly parents to enjoy it too, when we returned in October. I booked a table, as we were a party of five. Because Hatters is very close to a car park with disabled parking, my parents had no trouble getting in to the cafe. All of our cake choices were very tasty, Dad said his warm sausage roll with a chutney was excellent. The staff were so friendly, the toilets spotlessly clean. All in all we felt very comfortable that covid rules were adhered to. The reduced numbers allowed in the cafe must make such a difference to them; I am sure it gives staff no pleasure turning custom away. So if you like fancy a tasty treat and don't want to be disappointed, do book!

Hatters delivers on style and substance. The tea shop itself is large, open and light, with well spaced out tables. There is a selection of items for sale decorating the room. The staff who served us were hardworking and helpful. The cakes on the counter are a thing of beauty!! Hatters spoils you for choice with a vast selection of indulgent cakes (I wish I could have eaten them all!!) I finally decided on the lemon buttercream sponge, which was topped with a white chocolate decoration. It was delicious! I teamed it with a vanilla milkshake, which was served in a tall glass and made with ice cream. It worked really well with the lemon cake! My co-eater opted for a fruit scone with cream and a raspberry milkshake. This all came to just over £14; I was satisfied with the price given the quality. I have visited Hatters Tea Shop twice for travel refreshments and noticed during the midweek afternoons when I visited while they attract a variety of people many of their customers were notable by their seniority.I had wondered if this was a reflection of my experience. While Hatters is an agreeable modern revival of old fashioned tea rooms and while their product is good and their staff friendly, on both occasions delays in service were frustrating. Therefore one might visit on a day where you intend to relax and move slowly. For that, it's perfect. Service might prove frustrating for you if you only want to stop briefly for refreshment.

What a BIG shame, are the owners aware of the type of staff they employ at they could try to appreciate the custom of the customers who are paying their wages. and put a smile on there faces, all in all not what we expected at all and such a shame with the golden opportunity to succeed with a good reputation, but do employ proper staff who acknowledge customers with a SMILE, it costs nothing to smile.

Excellent establishment - I wholly recommend.

We went here for a coffee at 10.30am on Saturday. They weren’t busy at all, not many in. I went to the counter to orders our drinks and cake. By the time I got back to my seat, a man had put a notice on the table saying it was reserved from 11am, all this was done while my husband sat there, this man never said a word, what has happened to good customer service or even plain old manners! This place is so geared up for dogs, it even sells ‘dog soap’. Can’t we go anywhere these days and have a nice drink or meal without having to sit next to dogs!

A lovely stop for afternoon tea as a couple or with friendsA fantastic range of different teas which are all loose leaf, a wide selection of cakes which all looked lovelyI dont drink hot drinks however if you just pop up to the counter and ask they give you a pretty good range of soft drinks to choose fromThe scones we ordered we pretty huge and were lovelyWe also had a very good vegan apricot and pumpkin seed flapjack and my coffee and walnut cake was enormous and was so goodWe were left to enjoy our drinks and cake whilst playing cards in the cornerAt £22 for 6 cakes and some drinks was also, we thought, good value

We visited Cromer on a day in June which was unfortunately dull, cold and windy but discovered this lovely tea shop. Looking forward to warming cups of tea and coffee with maybe a cake or two, the four of us made our way inside. It’s a really lovely quirky, original tea shop, with a good variety of drinks and food. However as soon as we entered and sat down at a table, and as other customers left, a chair with a teddy bear on it was placed across the open front door to stop other people entering, and a closed notice placed on the chair. We were served our drinks with not a word of welcome passing the young mans lips and the other staff didn't even acknowledge our presence as they busied themselves with their cleaning up. They even swept the floor around us and we were made to feel really uncomfortable and In the way. There was no notice to say what time they closed and we would have preferred that when we walked in, they had said they were about to close and couldn’t serve us. Even when we paid there was no conversation except a lady said goodbye when we left. All in all, not a good visit, but maybe we caught them on an off day.

Friendly staff, great food, great service, reasonable prices, what more is there to say, I cannot rate this little tea room highly enough, the food is lovely, served on quaint china plates and cups and saucers, in very pleasant surroundings... my only regret about this review is it may encourage too many people to go and we won’t get a seat in the future ☹️. However, the owners deserve to succeed as it’s a great little place...

We were introduced to HATTERS TEA ROOM by my son and grandson. They live close to Cromer and visit the Hatters with their family. I really wish we had such a place near where we live. A terrific choice of teas and coffees complements the fine choice of bites and super cakes. The food was well presented by the efficient staff. The place is smart and beautifully kept. Look forward to our next visit.

Went for afternoon tea with friends and had very good cakes and lovely tea. Seems very popular with local people so can be quite busy but worth seeking it out.

Having visited Hatters again on Sunday I was very surprised indeed to note some of the recent comments left on Trip Advisor. I believe that this is the best Tea Shop in North Norfolk by quite some margin having tried many over the years. I am a regular visitor and always enjoy a polite and courteous service, excellent freshly prepared sandwiches, and delicious home-made cake served in beautiful surroundings. To leave commentary in the virtual ‘trip advisor’ world, which is less than positive rather than speaking to staff there and then, is beyond my definition of politeness or sanity! Having taken the trouble to travel to any establishment for refreshment, why would one not raise issues such as ‘my bread pudding was not quite to my liking’ at the time, to enable them to put it right? It is evident that Hatters is a tea shop and not a restaurant providing full waitress, at table service and it is clearly noted as such on the counter. I am looking forward to my next visit to this establishment with relish…….

This is a spacious cafe with tables of varying sizes to accommodate different size groups. The staff are polite and friendly and the food and drink are good. Afternoon tea, preferably with both sweet and savoury cake dishes, is highly recommended for a special occasion.

It is very clear that the owners have spent a lot of time in the presentation of Hatters Tea Shop, The Decor is extremely good and epecially the luxury style toilets and the upmarket wall paper and gerneral layout reminds me of similar tea rooms Harriets and Bettys, but please read on.We entered into the tea room and fully expected someone to come to us and show us to a table, but it didn.t happen, and we stood there for a moment and then decided to make our way towards an empty table and we stood there again waiting for someone to talkto us, but that didn't happen. There were two people who just cleared table in front of us, without looking at us, so haveing stood there are a while I said to the lady server, we're here, still no reply just a casual turn of the head as she carried on clearing te table, we though how rude. So I then said to her can we sit down at this table, we were told yes. But our hopes of enjoying an afternoon tea in a lovely decorated tea room, were ruined through the attitude of the staff. We then saw a sign please order at the counter, no waiter service here we thought, We were desperate by this time for a cup of tea, so we went to the counter and a miserable lady server asked what we wanted and I asked for tea for two please, and she said it would be two separate tea pots, I saids thats alright and she said that would be £5.00 to pay now, I said we we also needed some food, when we we had a cup of tea and had time to look at the menu, Continued.

Nice tea shop, well decorated with some comfy chairs. It was busy when we visited so appears quite popular, tea was good but the bread pudding my husband and I had was very dry and the top was thickly caked with brown sugar, it looks nice but tasted otherwise, I probably just made the wrong choice of cake.

Firstly the bread that was used for my bacon sandwich was mouldy. When I pointed this out the waitress told me that the bread was freshly baked this morning - obviously not! Overall very average food for over inflated prices. You can buy the hand soap in the loo for just £9.00 though-bargain!

We visited on a miserable weekday for some lunch. Hatters offered a warm refuge with a reasonable selection of hot and cold lunch choices. It's a very pleasant environment and the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Food served was excellent quality and quantity. Will definitely visit again. The only criticism is the menu advertised "prawn mayo sandwich" and I received a prawn sandwich with marie rose sauce (which personally I loath). I would suggest that customers are given whats on the menu or advised of amendments at the time of ordering. Lucky for me my Dad was happy to swap!

risky giving this five stars as it was almost full when we visited, but it is well deserved. Nicely set out with a good selection of lunches. We chose from the breakfast menu and enjoyed our food and drinks. The sandwiches looked tasty too, as did afternoon tea which a large group was enjoying. Will definitely return when I visit Cromer again.

Myself and my nan went to afternoon tea here during the week and it was truly amazing! Everything was homemade, the cakes and scones were to die for and the portion sizes are huge! We even boxed some up to bring home. All the staff were lovely and the shop itself had a friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

We had prebooked afternoon tea. It was scrumptious. Beautiful cakes, tasty sandwiches and the best scones I’ve ever tasted. Our daughter had a milkshake which was polished off quickly and also a toasted Cheese and Ham sandwich . Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. All the cakes on the counter looked delicious as well. If we lived closer I’d be in there every week.

We were in Cromer for the Crab and Lobster festival and wanted a quick snack. Hatters Tea Shop met our requirements perfectly. The sort of menu we love, clean tidy and friendly staff. Our drinks came promptly followed soon after with our food. Toilets were immaculate and premises looked recently decorated. Just a suggestion could the Hatters Tea Shop consider adding Jacket Potatoes to their menu?

This was one of our favourite quirky finds when on holiday last year. Choose your own donuts...yes please! No arguments from the kids as they can choose their own. Lovely, entrepreneurial family run business. It was highly recommended to us by the Hotel we stayed at - i can see why! We will be back when we csn visit the area again.

Called in Today for a quick snack & drink as we have been here several times in the past. Unfortunately it was not quite the same as it was a couple of years ago. One member of staff was not as customer friendly as she could have been. Food was less than average. Sorry but we won't be returning

This is the second visit to the pub- after the annual Land Rover rally for the Norfolk firefighters charity. The first time we visited was just for drinks, this time we had a meal- a roast dinner in my case. We hadn’t booked and were very pleased with the service, the lady behind the bar took our orders promptly and was very helpful with the children’s menu. Food was served quickly and was delicious, proper “pub grub” The atmosphere was very pleasant too, it was a dark, wet November night and upon entering you’re greeted by an open fire, cozy bar and cozy restaurant. Will definitely be returning- more than once a year!
