It always concerns me when sitting down in a restaurant and it is empty. Went for Sunday lunch. Clearly this place trades on large events like weddings rather than on the merit of its restaurant. The Sunday lunch was fairly decent, but not great, all sides come as extras, veg portions large but not all equal in size, eg cauliflower cheese half the size of the cabbage. Have to pay for extra gravy on roast which is a bit much. Waitress was polite and very efficient but clearly overworked from the large function rooms next door.

The restaurant staff are excellent and very helpful. However, whoever writes the menu should check the meaning of the French words used. The food generally tastes good but the description of the desserts were way out On one evening I had the 'brûlée and expected the typical caramelised hardened topping. Not so, what arrived was a thick custard with a a runny sugar top. It tasted good but wasn't what I was expecting. Another day I had the 'mille feuille' which translated from the French means a thousand leaves and is typically a vanilla slice with puff pastry which creates the many layers/leaves'. I was looking forward to this and was so disappointed when some very thick custard arrived sandwiched between 2 hardened caramelised sugar discs (which would have been more suited to being a brûlée topping). The menu also mentioned a tuille biscuit but those discs couldn't remotely be described as those. I left most of this one.

Have to say that overall the restaurant was poor as the food we had was not good (evening meal and breakfast), The meal was incredibly fatty and the breakfast just tasted awful.

Took my mum for afternoon tea to celebrate her 90th birthday. The reception staff were very welcoming and the restaurant staff couldn’t have done any more to make us feel special. Service was extremely fast considering a huge party was seated at the same time. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty. Tea/coffee was refreshed part way through. Hot scones followed and the cakes we couldn’t manage to eat were boxed up for us to take home. Definitely a great choice and I would return for lunch with a doubt.

Had the pork belly but could not eat the crackling as it was as hard as concrete. Staff were friendly but the toast was cold at breakfast and the main food was self service. Not what you would expect from a grand looking hotel.

Afternoon tea was delightful. Ellis Jones our waiter was so attentive to all our needs. Spectacular attention to detail which made our experience a joy. Thank You Ellis and your team x

Staff Very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and the wine good and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

We visited during our hotel stay, things were missing from the menu including some of the wine options, food came out at odd times and service was mediocre. Chairs are not comfortable.

Staff were pleasant enough on email/phone when booking and in person when we were greeted. We weren't given strawberries and prosecco on arrival rather drinks vouchers and no idea what happened to the strawberries, never saw them. I was really disappointed with the room, didn't reflect what was advertised online. It was very dated (needed a good lick of paint and updated bathroom which had mould in it) and the bed felt like it had the same mattress for 50 odd years. I originally booked under lockdown circumstances and was informed the spa would be 2 hours access each day and would be lifted when lockdown was lifted. We got there, lockdown lifted, and was informed the 2 hour access was staying. I also asked to access the gym and was informed that would come out of my 2 hours spa access which was ridiculous. I was the only one in the gym the whole hour. So out of 24 hours 2 were spent at the spa, the rest in the horrible dated, dim room (minus dinner). Very disappointing. Dinner was enjoyable and food was nice. Afternoon tea was okay (included in our weekend, certainly would not pay for it). Spa facilities were good and we did enjoy the 2 hours a day we spent in it. Treatments were okay. Overall not worth the £800 they charged us for a two night stay. I wouldn't go again. Money better spent at other establishments where I've had that pampered looked after feel you want from a spa.

The food was really tasty and reasonably priced. Worth a visit. I had the lamb and my husband had the green thai chicken. The room felt comfortable and loungy.

The quality of the food was amazing. as per the personal recommendation try to order the Lamb dish, it was totally delicious.

The food was faultless and served by attentive, friendly and professional staff. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for them.

We were a large family group who booked for Sunday lunch. On arrival it was disappointing to see the amount of litter - wine bottles, coffee cups, paper, etc around the car park and grounds. The hotel interior is rather dated and needs freshening up. Our food was satisfactory, but nothing more. Service was equally average. After our sweet course was removed no one asked if we required coffee, so we decided not to bother asking. There were a number of woman and young children and babies having nappies changed in the entrance room to the restaurant ! Overall generally rather disappointing.

The food was great- a brilliant selection for gluten free and a good selection for vegan. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was nice. Thanks!

Sunday Lunch for friends birthday! We came to the restaurant again on 19/01 and again had very positive experience. Food was great and service again amazing :-). Definitely will be back again.

Teníamos nuestra comida de Navidad reservada allí para el 20 de diciembre. El aparcamiento delantero estaba lleno, por lo que la mayoría de la gente tuvo que aparcar en el aparcamiento trasero, que estaba en un estado desagradable. Enormes baches por todas partes, todos bastante profundos y llenos de agua, no es lo que quieres atravesar, especialmente las damas que estaban vestidas hasta los años 9. We have visited this place for a sunday lunch and the food was amazing. Food portions great and staff very attentive. Such lovely meal and we will definitely come back.

If you are looking for a special place to celebrate then look for somewhere else. Adequate, just about covers it. Would not recommend

Four family members had Sunday lunch and we agreed it was probably the best we had had for a long time. Excellent service, great food and really nice surroundings. The beg was perfect and amazing choice of vegetables.

Habiendo disfrutado mucho la función de la NYE del año pasado, decidimos regresar este año con amigos. Lamentablemente esto resultó ser un error. Nos sentamos en la última mesa que nos sirvieron y después de que nos tomaron el pedido tuvimos una larga espera antes de que llegara nuestro primer plato. Estaba claro que no había suficientes camareros, pero no ayudaba que con frecuencia salieran de la cocina con un solo plato. Luego esperamos un rato para el postre, pero el personal nos pidió disculpas con una copa de Prosecco! Teníamos eton mess y chocolate brownie - delicioso. We were on a mother and daughter spa package. You cannot fault the spa and staff and its such a shame that they are in this hotel because they do deserve a 5 star rating but unfortunately I'm scoring low for the hotel. I would recommend going to the spa for the day and not for a meal or accommodation. We've recieved a afternoonb tea as this was part of the package and it was disappointing and there wasn't much choice of sandwiches but more desserts but we did give our feedback to one of the staff. We were ready for our evening meal and looking forward to eating as we were starving as we've had to leave some of our afternoon tea as there were too much cream to eat. We went into the restaurant and we chose our meals and had steak which was vile and there has been confusion with one well done and 3 medium so we've swapped around but notice that 2 steaks were rare and sent back and one was well done but very tough and other was still rare so we all couldn't eat out meals. We were given dessert menus and we've all decided to have cheese and biscuits as we were still hungry so we've been given our cheese and biscuits but the brie was mouldy and we've told. One of the staff and he took it away and came back with a fresh one and we've said no and refused to eat it as the mould has put us off the whole meal. I thought he was crazy to come back with another board of cheese!! We asked to a manager and he knew were waiting for him to come over as he kept looking at us and walked away to try and stay away from the situation but after 25 minutes he finally came over and we were still in the same position where we was first but said he will take it off the bill. at so we headed to reception lovely ladies and they have sent a bottle of precessco and bag of crisps, not what we wanted as we were starving and we all wanted a proper meal but it was nice for her to do for us. I was just so disappointed as it was the first time that myself, 2 sisters and mother to have a get together as we haven't done it for years and first time to go to a spa which we enjoyed as I haven't experienced it myself but knew I needed it after a tough birth and needed some relaxation time. We still haven't had a phone call from the manager!! Disgraceful! Now I have put the picture of the higene rating which we wasn't aware of and was shocked to see this and the last inspection was in June but wasn't long ago! Of we knew this then we wouldn't of turned up! What suprise, no wonder why service and food was very very poor. I honestly wouldn't recommend you going anywhere near this place other than the spa and certainly wouldn't eat here as I wouldn't want you getting food poisoning!! Manager Stephen pick up the phone and make that call before things go further which it already has after hearing about a mouse next day!!

Beautiful rooms and areas await you at this lovely venue. during my stay just one minor downfall the buffet style breakfast full English should be hotter and checked by staff more often but lots of choices and great staff well done all wedding food was first rate and staff quick and efficient

super food and service, car parking full as a wedding there, but we managed to squeeze in! a beautiful old manor house in lovely grounds, my 10 year old son and his friend enjoyed playing a game of chess on the giant size garden board. There was wonderful warm complimentary bread before our meal, menu could have been a bit more varied. But what we had was really good. We have been before and it was just as excellent as recently. Will go again.

Dreadful,........needs new Chefs. And restaurant staff. The menu was limited. The food was very unexciting .I had fun infused salmon...sounds lovely...didn't realize it was raw..not lovely. Dined here as part of a spa package deal. All courses were beautifully presented and all tasted Devine! Staff were all very nice and attentive. We had no complaints! Restaurant itself is relatively small, but very nice and intimate.

I did A LOT of research before booking our one night spa break, mainly as we are vegan and wanted to make sure we’d be able to get a decent evening meal as part of our package. I emailed the hotel before booking and was assured they would be able to cater for our needs so I went ahead and booked a “date night” package.

My 2 daughter's had the pleasure of having there prom night held in this fantastic setting. However when they returned thay informed me that the food was horrific and the service was even worse. Fish in a chicken salad. The chicken was so badly cooked the boys were using then as frisbees.

My husband & I used a voucher for afternoon tea for two received as a Xmas present from his sister. We sat at a table for two in the restaurant @ 2pm but had to wait 20 minutes for the service to arrive. The sandwiches consisted of 6 triangular shapes - 4 of cucumber and 2 of salmon in white bread. When we asked for additional sandwiches we were informed it would be additional cost to the £27 voucher cost previously paid. On complaiming further the restaurant manager apologised and confirmed we would have additional sandwiches which consisted after another15 minutes delay of 4 rectangular ham on brown bread. It appeared that the problem lay with the unresponsive kitchen staff rather than the kitchen manager.We consider the tea to be of very poor value on two fronts - the food and the service which were poor value and dismal and therefore we could not recommend the afternoon tea at this hotel.

What has happened to this place it used to be so good . Went for a special occasion and was very dissapointed the waitress was scruffy . The food all pre prepared it was not fresh with the exception of the bread which was the only good thing about the meal.It was a very expensive evening for very little . The view from our table was kitchen staff out in the garden smoking doesn't make for a very professional establishment .Needless to say we won't be returning

The hotel is rated as 4 star, something wrong here. The rooms are small but clean. The food is best eaten elsewhere. It is way too expensive for the meal delivered and for the quality. Overall it would be a reasonable place to stay for one night, but not to eat at.

Grand-daughter had saved pocket money over several months to treat us to Afternoon Tea as Christmas present. We had been the previous year and it had been fantastic. Not this time, as soon as we arrived we both felt as if we were inferior. The Tea if you could call it that which was put in front of us was to say ' POOR' we would still be exaggerating. Three sandwiches each , the size of an eighth of a slice of bread. Second layer had 2 bite size Brownies, 2 mini-meringue halves with a scrape of Cream and a quarter of a Srawberry on top (which was bigger than the meringue ) plus what we assumed was supposed to be Victoria Sponge ,which was actually flat sponge cut off the end of a traybake which had not risen. Top Layer had what was a poor excuse for Scones . Only wish I had followed my first instinct and walked out, am cross with myself for eating the offering. Luckily we were In and Out in less than 30 minutes. We have another Voucher to redeem but are very reluctant to return. May just forfeit it as I would rather waste it , than the Hotel.

It is a while since we had the opportunity to eat at the Manor and our return visit did not disappoint. Two of us opted for fish which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The third person in our party opted for beef which she found more fatty than she would have liked. Starters received unanimous praise as did the puds. Although the two restaurant rooms were busy quality and service did not suffer. A limited menu for the day but well priced. Well worth a visit.

Menu was definitely not 'pub grub'. Pigeon, mussels, duck with pickled water melon, belly pork and black pudding roulade. And a separate grill menu with steaks. I ordered a vegetable and halloumi skewer but it came without a skewer so they must have removed it before bringing it out, which was unusual. The Malbec wine was very smooth. Breakfast was cooked to order and there was a self serve selection of continental items too. Free parking right outside the property.

We have just got married at the hotel and would like to thank Alanna for all her help nothing was any trouble for her, the staff was always smiling and couldn’t do more to help us, we would especially like to thank John our toastmaster who was exceptional, the kids loved him playing high five every time he passed them, The food was absolutely outstanding all our family commented on it. We highly recommend this venue to anybody thinking of getting married we would advise them to book and not bother looking anywhere else, we have stayed at many nice hotels before but Hatherley Manor is exceptional.

Very quiet on a Friday night but the staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Some unusual options on the menu so I chose mussels and clams in a tomato, chorizo and chilli sauce for a starter. This was really tasty and there was plenty of seafood. I then had spiced duck with pickled watermelon! Very unusual but the watermelon was refreshing and cut through the depth of the duck really well.

Our taste buds were spoilt! The service was great and everyone was friendly and helpful. Would recommend and will most definitely go back....

Unusually for a hotel restaurant (I suffer occasionally from "Captive audience cuisine") this old manor style hotel has an excellent resaurant with tasy well-cooked and served dishes.

Spent a lovely afternoon here with family and friends for my 60th! Lovely, clean, white linen table setting in an oak panelled room, all to ourselves! Food was great, good selection of sandwiches and cakes and plenty for everyone. Friendly staff. Only 'blip' was the timing could have been better as waited over half an hour for tea to begin being served when I had specified a time when I booked the event. Probably due to the fact that there was a huge wedding going on at the same time in another part of the hotel so I did have to go out and remind them that we needed attention. Apart from that, a very enjoyable afternoon tea in a lovely setting.

The food was very tasty but my starter did not have bread and we were then charged extra for bread as a side dish .Serving a salmon and cheese starter without bread is just a rip off. My vegetarian main course was excellent though.

I was very impressed with the food, there was a good choice of g/f staters , mains and deserts and the home-made bread was a delight. I just had to eat more!

My wife and I visited the restaurant as part of a two night package. The Al la Carte menu was not extensive but did contain just enough choice for most tastes. This menu was supplemented by a grill menu. On average the price of the main course was £17.

A lovely celebration meal fpr my fathers 80th birthday. Food was amazing and with a good choice. Staff were really helpful and helped us to decorate the table before we arrived for dinner making it more special.

A nuestra llegada, el entorno es casi de cuento de hadas. Las decepciones vienen a su entrada. La recepción se une con la zona del bar, ambos dissatisfactory. Al llegar a nuestras habitaciones, que estaban a la par con lo que pagarías en un hotel Best Western o similar, pero las habitaciones eran dos veces el precio y sin mención de la obra fuera de nuestra ventana. El desayuno era 'comestible', con la excepción de los huevos que eran malos y duro (perfecto pelotas de ping pong). La comida en general era sin duda no de calidad 4 estrellas. Había algunos miembros del personal que brilló desde los otros, pero en general, moral parecía bajo. No estaremos Volviendo a visitar este establecimiento en cualquier momento pronto.

El restaurante está en un entorno encantador, muy bien decoradas y con vistas al jardín. Buena comida y ropa de mesa fresco ajustes.

My husband took me here for Sunday lunch for my birthday. At first everything seemed fine. we ordered our drinks and when they came my husband shandy had been made with soda water. This was rectified when we spoke to the waiter. We ordered the roast beef which although tasty it was a little tough. The vegetable choice was a little odd of green beans and roasted vegetables consisting of courgette,onion and a little bit of pepper. I must admit i did exect to see more colour on the plate. We odered our dessert and that when the problems started despite asking twice where our desserts were nothing happened. We were told by a waitress that there was a problem with the chef. After waiting for 30 mins we left. We spoke to the duty manager who did apologise for the problem and only charged us for our main meal. This really spoilt what had set out to be a lovely treat for my birthday and we went home for ice cream and coffee. I hope the service improves because this is usually a nice place to eat.

Nothing to complain about here, good menu choices for food and wine, staff work well and are friendly. The food was good, maybe just a tad more for portion sizes but maybe I'm just greedy! Really enjoyed our evening.

Booked afternoon tea for hubby's birthday. Specifically asked for bo salad on the sandwiches, his preference not mine. When the waitress took us to the table she actually confirmed with us that we wanted no salad. Sandwiches came and guess what? Cucumber sandwiches! Always thought Cucumber to be a salad veg. Obviously no imagination from the chef if he cannot think of anything else for an afternoon tea.Complained at the time and have written twice but received no reply. Nothing!!Will never return and tell everyone I know about it. Have had afternoon tea at the RItz, and they can supply 4 different types of sandwiches without salad, and offer seconds!!

We had a large family meal the eve of our wedding and everyone loved what they ordered and again was impressed by the service and menu choice. Fantastic hotel and amazing staff.

We stopped for lunch at this property as we were passing through and were delighted with the whole ambiance of the place. We found it strange that we were the only ones in the delightful dining room but we soon realised why we were alone! Three of us ordered fish and chips and one person ordered belly pork - very small choice on the menu. The food arrived and the fish batter was like rubber (certainly not crisp) and the chips were the worst I have had in ages. The belly pork was edible....just. We were given replacements for the fish and chips but the replacements were no better. I ate the fish after removing it from the batter and ate a couple of chips and the peas but this has to be the worst meal ever. My sister in law was the only one to order a desert which was sticky toffee pudding and I have to say she thought it was excellent but why couldn't the rest of the food have been up to scratch? Such a lovely place ....... such awful food. The saving grace was that we didn't have to pay for the fish and chips but we wouldn't have the confidence to eat here again.

Very disappointing for the quality of the hotel, roast potatoes had been lying for a while and the vegetables were cold, all in all a very poor meal.

By and large, the Hatherley Manor boasts a four star rating and that's ok by me, I don't mind. Or do I?The answer to this question, is yes I do and here's the reason why. Lunch at the Hatherley Manor today was spoilt by the waitress's lack of English and her comprehension of English as a spoken language.The four of us were having to repeat our orders several times to the waitress until she eventually got it right. I asked for my main course to be the fillet of Salmon without the citrus cream. I don't mind having to repeat my order twice, but by the third time, I am expecting the waitress to go to reception and bring someone who can take the orders and get them right in one go.After repeating the order one last time, we eventually got it right. Actually no we didn't. My main course arrived with the citrus cream on it and back to the kitchen it went.The food was lovely, the atmosphere was welcoming, but it was exasperating trying to get the waitress to get the orders right and it's not her fault. I blame the management for not supporting this girl enough in her role as a waitress. It's a grotty job at the best of times, but to be struggling with the language and subsequently the orders, just wasn't fair.

Great selection of food that was the highlight of the stay. Excellent service throughout. Couple this with the various restaurant offers and I would certainly recommend dining here.

This is a very good restaurant in a good quality, comfortable hotel.Menu is a bit short but there is a good selection and all of our food was very good indeed. Stir fry, duck breast and salmon mains were all perfect.Nice wine list and very reasonably priced. We had a very good pinot noir at £26.Service was good without being over facing.A very enjoyable evening.

Enjoyed a lovely 3-course meal at this hotel today. Soup, slow-roasted chicken with black pudding and mash followed by fruit crumble for dessert all went down well along with complimentary drinks (glass of wine, mineral water, Bucks fizz and coffee). Service was friendly and efficient. This is the 2nd time that most of us have eaten here and I would thoroughly recommend this place for those celebrating weddings or milestone birthdays and anniversaries. Some of our dessert orders were mixed up but the staff were very apologetic about this.

The restaurant is comfortable and located beyond the lounge bar. The menu was to my taste but not too adventurous and the wine list was realistically priced. The food was well cooked and presented but service was possibly a little too prompt if one had no commitments for the rest of the evening.

Starters were great not run of mill, ham hock, mussels & cherizo, butterflied sardines all tried fantastic. Mains Pork belly, sea bass, duck, steak again all trid and eaten with gusto. Sadly each night there to full to have puddings but they looked fantastic.

Great wine list, although pricey, reasonable choice of restaurant food which is presented well. Avoid the creme brûlée which is quite heavy and go instead for the Eton mess or rhubarb parfait.We waited a long time for our food but we were a group of of 9 and the food is cooked to order. The waiting staff were delightful.

I had 2 meals whilst staying at the manor. Shin of beef was outstanding very tender meat and all vegetables complimented well. The breakfast was equally excellent great choice of continental breakfast and the cooked breakfast was locally sourced and really showed very good quality food and service

Stayed at the hotel the night before joining a river cruise.Had a meal here, impressed by the standard of service and very good food. To start, I had mussels and chorizo and followed with roast duck which was delicious. My husband had the beetroot gazpacho and the pork belly and crackling, both very good. Wines good and sensibly priced.

A very pleasant afternoon tea in this endearing little spot. A refreshing gin and elderflower cocktail to start, bedecked with cucumber ribbon, an orange slice and a fat blackberry. Mini caesar salads were served warm .. generous chunks of tender chicken and croutons with a lovely little anchovy hiding in the crisp iceberg lettuce.A foccacia smoked salmon open sandwich next and onto the sweet stuff :-)Mini cheesecake with a cinnamon spiced base, a chocolate orange brownie, a white chocolate and apricot delice .. all miniature perfection.Generously sized fruit scones were still warm, allowing for a good spread of clotted cream and jam.. though a little more cream would've been good.A choice of coffee or tea to finish, though no choice in tea.. just standard issue. In all not bad valuecat all. We were satisfied with the amount and the quaity and it was good value for money. The staff were pleasant and courteous and we were invited to explore the grounds and hotel afterwards. Glad we did. There's a sweet walled garden ideal for events ! My wife and myself stayed here the night for part of our wedding anniversary celebrations while touring around the area.The hotel location was great, both in terms of the "peace & quiet" of the country, and being near enough for a reasonable priced taxi to the Gloucester Quays.Our room was clean, tidy and very comfy with a generous sized bed and a decent shower.Breakfast was served in a lovely/ cosy room and was a good standard.I would certainly stay here again if in the area.

Met friends here for Dinner, and was delighted to see Duck with orange ( no further detail) on the menu at £18.We eat out a lot , so ( foolishly!) anticipated 1/4 or even 1/2 a duck at that money- as so many Gloucs restaurants offer, so didn't order a starter.Great service from helpful staff, but when duck arrived it had been ventilated ( was it to spread it out on the plate ?) so it comprised 6 1cm of presumably part of a breast thick slices, accompanied by a few French fries and some vegetables.Didn't bother to order anything else, but on way home a quarter pounder with medium fries ( twice as many as I was served - what do fries actually cost ) was really welcome.Quality is good in fairness, but not a repeatable experience for me.

Arrived at this hotel with Sunday lunch booked for 3 adults, having pre-booked and confirmed several days earlier. We checked in with the Receptionist who directed us to the restaurant where they had no record of our booking ! Returning to Reception it seems it was all the fault of the troublesome computer !! When suggested that as the restaurant was virtually next to reception, perhaps the Head Waiter could have been told verbally !!......but it seems "that is not the way it's done". Oh , how we have come to rely on technology !! Blame it on the computer ! No matter, we were asked to wait in the Bar while a table was prepared which was a bit surprising as there was only one table occupied with about 15 others already laid up for lunch ! and no other guests arrived during our stay so we felt decidedly unwelcome, although the Head waiter did apologise for the "confusion".The meal itself was selected from a rather limited menu but well prepared and presented, and quite enjoyable although I felt it was a bit overpriced at £21.The young waitress was very stern and uncommunicative and oh how I wished she would at least "smile", perhaps she is new and under training ? She certainly put me off eating there again which is a pity because it is a delightful restaurant in what is clearly an excellent hotel.

We took our family of 7 here on Saturday evening.The restaurant is not too large & intimate.Menu is good with a 3 course meal for just £18.The Malbec red wine is very reasonably priced & highly recommended.The food was very well presented in a creative style.Overall an excellent meal at a very reasonable price..

On our last visit to the area we stayed here but unfortunately it was fully booked this time so we had to stay elsewhere. As we had enjoyed the food so much we found we were able at least to visit the restaurant. An absolute delight. Both the food and surroundings are exceptional. The staff were very attentive but didn't overdo it.All in all a place I would highly recommend

Dinner on both the two nights of our stay was very good; quality was very high, quantity was just right, service was superb. The wine list is not huge, but didn't need to be as there was a good variety to accompany the different dishes. Prices were reasonable for such a place.

I booked the alternative afternoon tea for a friend's birthday. There were 5 of us and each of us had a 9 month old baby. I was told in advance it was OK to bring babies, however I cannot express how accommodating they were. The placed us in our own large area with 5 highchairs. The receptionist Jen was brilliant with sorting our booking and made us feel so welcome. A gentleman ( i can only presume was the manager) was in reception on our arrival and made sure our ever need was met.The waiting staff were the most professional and polite I have come across.The afternoon tea itself was better than expected and we all had a very pleasant afternoon and will return again.My only slight criticism is that there were no choices of sandwiches.

We had mistakenly booked for 6 instead of 7, which could have presented a problem, as the restaurant was busy. However, the waiting staff quickly sorted the table out, changing all the chairs round so as to squeeze an extra person on to our table. Service was quick, friendly and efficient, and we had all enjoyed our Sunday lunches. The menu was flexible, to accommodate children, and we were able to choose two or three courses. The three course price included coffee, and there was no quibble about one person having coffee not having been one of those who chose three courses. We were charged very fairly the young waiter took the time to run through the bill with me to ensure I fully understood all the charges. Food was delicious and portions were generous, with plenty of side vegetables thrown in. All met requests were met perfectly and without quibble. Highly recommended.

Shared a lovely afternoon tea here, with my Dad. Whilst waiting for our food, we enjoyed a Gin and Elderflower cocktail which was lovely and refreshing. The food was unusual as not the normal finger sandwiches but a lovely warm chicken Caesar salad with Parmesan and a focaccia with salmon and dill. Three different types of cake and a warm fruit scone with jam and cream all washed down with a hot pot of tea. Was very quiet but hotel and surroundings are lovely. The staff are pleasant, friendly and efficient . Will be back with the girls for a Ladies lunch :o)

Stayed in the hotel for two nights and ate in the restaurant on the first night. Good choice of starters and mains made it difficult to chose what to eat as there were so many dishes that I fancied.

The meal was nice, smallish menu but quite adequate. Food was in general well cooked and nicely presented. The bread we were offered was a little stodgey in the middle suggesting it was a little undercooked but a nice variety to choose from. Staff were very friendly.

Me and my partner booked this hotel a couple of weeks before we stayed in need of a night away. Reception staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was cosy but had all you needed for the stay including water, tea coffee, iron and ironing board, slippers and bathrobes. The restaurant menu had lots to choose from to suit all tastes. Breakfast was fresh and once again a good selection. All staff were polite and friendly. Will be staying here again soon!

We regularly visit this hotel / restaurant as it is close to where we live. We use this as our "special occasion" venue. However, if you have a tastecard it is accepted here and consequently saves you some of your hard earned cash. The restaurant is set in lovely grounds and conveys a relaxing atmosphere from the outset. The staff are always courteous and helpful and provides for a dining experience to be remembered. It is ideal for a romantic meal and offers a wide range of food all cooked to your liking and well presented. I would recommend booking in advance as it is a popular venue.

The food here has a great choice and of a 5 star standard . The menu is extensive with the normal menu plus some more unusual foods eg shin of Beef I recommend this it was perfect

used the restaurant as part of a package deal with a £26 p.p. allowance ..had starters and mains which included choice of breads.plenty of choices on menu but not overfaced with too many options...Service attentive but unobtrusive ,,... well done to all.
