An amazing place to eat. Run by a family who all have a great sense of humour, very welcoming and the food was lovely. Dogs welcome and the locals very friendly. Quirky inside and out as approx 300year old building. Highly recommend.

Had a half-hour to spend in Chudleigh and popped in for a flat white (delicious) and a huuuuuge slice of carrot cake - possibly the best carrot cake I've eaten - light, fluffy and carroty with a generous slathering of sumptuous icing. Six quid in all which isn't bad considering the high quality of both. Appears to be a family-run business, and very friendly welcome. The 'dad' chatted to me before I left when I asked about the history of the place (I'd lived in the town in the late 80s, but couldn't recall what it had been in the past). I had my laptop with me, but there's no Wifi nor a strong-enough mobile signal to generate a hot-spot, so I just had to relax instead of work - not a problem at all, but worth being aware of. Great place, and I shall definitely be going back.

We found this gorgeous cafe on the way home from a short break to Finlake Holiday Park. Mixed reviews here, but I can tell you this, they all made us feel very welcome - especially Snoopy and Bess! Food is exceptional and cooked to order - fantastic breakfast especially the black pudding for me! They have a lovely spaniel whom made our dogs welcome and came and sat with us whilst we ate. We also found out that the owners are originally from the East Midlands as we are. The only downside - we found it on our (long way) home! Completely recommend to all - especially if you don't mind dogs.

I’m a big fan of Harvey’s and eat here on my own or with others. The food is delicious, the welcome warm and friendly. Space is limited - it can’t be helped - and whilst all businesses do their best, they can’t be everything for everybody 🤷♂️ The coffee - Italian - is delicious, but the thing I like most about Harvey’s is the atmosphere. Come here on your own, with friends, with family. Bring your doggie - all are welcome! One thing’s certain - if you’re visiting Chudleigh, make sure you visit Harvey’s! An experience not to be missed!

They were very busy but she made me a delicious meal and the staff were all very polite and friendly

I stopped by Harvey's whilst passing through and had a lovely brunch of scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast. The toast was made from lovely, fresh bakery bread - I was expecting it to be from an ordinary pre-sliced bought-in loaf, so was pleasantly surprised, and I don't know what they do to the mushrooms but they were delicious! It arrived quickly and piping hot and the server said if I wanted more butter just to ask for it. I will say though - Harvey's, along with much of the rest of Chudleigh is very much "a local shop for local people" - I do not look in any way outlandish but as soon as I walked in a silence descended and I felt the eyes of every single other customer and member of staff, all of whom clearly knew each other, upon me. Used to the anonymity of London, I found it a little bit uncomfortable. Didn't detract from the food, but if I were less confident I'd probably have felt less welcome.

Harvey's is a family-run business and a very bright gem of Chudleigh. The village is very small with a limited number of services, so Harvey's comes as a welcome place to relax to eat and drink.I was grabbed from outside by the old-style awning above the entrance and I was enticed on the inside by the light and airy decor. I believe that all the food here is home-made, which is of course a huge bonus. There's a large variety of sweet baked goodies to choose from in addition to sandwiches of all kinds on all types of bread, soup, full English breakfasts; the menu goes on and on. The coffee is very good and the service friendly and prompt. I was taken aback somewhat by what seemed to be high prices, yet I felt willing to overlook this given the atmosphere of the cafe and the quality of fare.Generally speaking, if you're in Chudleigh and are looking for a very decent place to eat, Harvey's should be your first and only choice.

A set menu that caters for all dietary tastes but still only serving a few dishes. We visited Harvey's with young children and it seemed very obvious to us that children were not a welcome addition to the cafe. No assistance with the double doors which both need to be opened to get a regular pushchair in.Very much made to feel in the way despite purposefully picking a table at back of cafe. I visited Harvey's for lunch with some friends and my dog. We were all made extremely welcome - and the dog was given treats as well as made a fuss of.I ordered a brie ciabatta with sundried tomatoes. It should have had bacon but as I don't eat meat this was left out. Nothing else was suggested as a replacement and the end result was a rather slimy, fatty brie with two large pieces of tomato floating out of it. Not the nicest thing I have ever eaten and not great value for £5.99.The café was cluttered with rather alarming toys that suddenly fell down from the ceiling, and the toilets downstairs were definitely in need of a makeover.Although it was far from terrible, it certainly wasn't somewhere I would visit again, despite the friendly welcome.

Harvey's is a quaint town centre cafe/deli that used to be the town's main grocer/deli. Since being converted some years ago by 'Harvey' and then sold to the current owners, Sally & Simon, it has become the hub of the community. There is a simple but freshly produced menu and a range of sandwiches/baguettes/baps; cakes; pies & pasties. The coffee is excellent and the Latte is the best in the country (one or two unnamed international coffee shops could do well to learn from Sally & Simon how to make a proper latte.)Although Simon runs a 'tight ship' here, when they have time, they both circulate and chat with customers giving it the friendly 'local pub' feel of my title.Always worth a visit, summer or winter. Always the same high standard. A real asset to the town of Chudleigh.

Fortunately my sister lives in Chudleigh so i have an excuse to visit Harveys several times a year. This visit we were fortunate enough to be ther on a bistro night, this is small and intimate, only a few tables making it a very friendly environment. the food was great,if you ever get the chance to go and they will be few, make sure you get there. the cafe open daily is just as good and you can always be sure of a warm and friendly welcome. Good coffee, good food...we are thinking about moving closer.

Never have I seen staff with such miserable faces and offhand attitude. In my work I get to spend time every day in cafes and this one is the worst I've ever come across. I asked for brown sugar to go in my tea (I know, it's unusual) and the waitress looked at me as if I was mad. The stairwell to the toilets was filthy and I almost didn't go down there (but had to !). The tea at £1.40 was mediocre. I certainly won't be going there again if I'm in that area.

We only had a couple of cream teas & some Rocky Roads for our two boys. However the service was welcoming & the meals & deserts looked very very appetising. Wish we'd discovered it before.

We booked for their special monthly Dinner & were delighted with the set menus of 3 courses with 2 choices on each plus very reaonable standard wines with their own label. Wine was sourced from France. We also visited on 3 other occasions for light lunch & morning teas & were always amazed at the quality & service in this lovely village which is not overly endowed with such eating establishments.

The coffee was slow in coming but worth the wait, and the cakes we tried were all excellent. Lunches looked good too and lots of locals were using the place, so they seem to rate it highly. it's a bit scruffy from outside but staff welcoming and you don't eat the paint after all!

A really lovely local country pub; many locals here giving the pub a true community atmosphere. Very dog friendly. Good beer, and the staff even friendlier than the dogs. On Sundays, they just serve roasts, but they accommodated us by serving delicious stuffing balls as a special favour. There is a roaring log fire and a comfy sofa, and sweeping views. Highly recommended.

Seem to be a lot kids hanging around the bar area. Staff behind the bar barely visible. No atmosphere.Food mediocre. Would not return.

If you go to Bovey Tracey a visit to Old cottage tea shop is a must. What an absolutely delightful tea room. Old fashioned charm at its best. Good old fashioned menu. It's like having lunch at Grandma's. An absolute must visit.
