Harvester Tarpot South Benfleet in Castle Point

The food is top notch with plenty of choices, prices are good, the atmosphere very good, the staff very friendly but very busy, My only concern was on leaving I wanted to use the gentlemens room, this was not possible because of a toilet blockage , not sure if it will get sorted anytime soon.

Nice family meal - good food & service

Christmas dinner was the worst roast I've ever had family of 7 what a waste of 450 quid we were left hungry as we didn't eat it none of us really touched it we did try but it was certainly not hand carved processed pre cut meat frozen potatoes . Had Christmas pudding small but tasty would want my m9ney back if could as it was Christmas didnt wanna make a scene

We have a parking ticket weeks after the visit, we was told at the time if you get a ticket call us and we will deal with it, tried calling 8 times no answer BUT our reg should have been taken there and then

Never again! Visited with my wife, father in law and his wife. Ordered the steak, it came out virtually raw inside, I told staff who took it away, 15 minutes later I'm asked if this was OK, I could see it still oozing red from the outside and proceeded to cut it to show staff. Told them no way am I eating it now as family had virtually theirs and to be honest, if they can't get a simple steak right I won't be eating anyway. Manager came over, said I don't have to pay for it (hadn't eaten any of it anyway) said can have a free desert, incredibly cheeky when whole thing was ruined, took them up on the offer which was xmas pudding, wasn't even xmas pudding but a sponge tasting like it! Other observations were father in law had the mixed grill, his steak was red raw, staff didn't even ask how he'd like it, his wife's steak was very chewy, full of fat which she piledto the side. We actually all ended up asking for a doggy bag as was only fit for our dogs. They wanted over £100 for all this rubbish, had a 20% welcome offer signed up before ordering and had a £20 gift card but almost £60 in the end wasted. Please stay clear, it's terrible.

Now me and my family have been coming to the harvester for quite awhile now and the food has gotten worse and worse every time we have come. Last time we came, i ordered the full rack of ribs, my grandad ordered the steak and ordered a quarter of a chicken with ribs on the side. Now once our food had arrived, my ribs were PINK. Do you understand the importance of giving a Child/ Teenager Uncooked Pork?? And my grandad's Steak was rubber and fatty. You couldn't even cut it, it's like it was fighting back! We sent it back and asked for a new one and even that one was like a brick and I'll use the term loosely but your chefs do not care. Another thing, My mum only got a Drum stick of chicken? It wasn't a quarter And the ribs were fatty too, it was unbearable and she wanted to scream the place down. And To top it off three out of the five were giving free dessert while the other two had to watch which is utterly unfair. I understand the food has gone up but does that have to put the food at risk of being poor? I surely don't think so. I shan't be returning and i hope when i do there is a massive improvement!!

One of the better Harvester's I've been to unfortunately didn't eat this time was just in for a quick Christmas drink with friends. Great hostess and very friendly and knowledgeable bar staff. Had a laugh with some of the locals. Will definitely be back to eat next time we're local

Probably the best Harvester you’ll find, lucky for me it’s local. From the bar staff to the waiting staff everyone was polite and organised. There was a minor problem with one of the meals but it was resolved very quickly and without fuss, Siobhan was our host and is a credit to the restaurant.

Extortionately expensive for very ok quality food. Service was fine but food came out wrong. Ordered rare got medium. Ordered no cream on dessert, got cream.

The waitresses were brilliant and the best for me is although we go normally once a week when I'm on holiday I know my 95 year old father can go there without worry and the girls Tracy Siobhan and manageress Jane will look after him and make sure all well and that is a great comfort.

We had a lovely meal. Just popped in for a quick bite after work. Siobhan our waitress was excellent. She was chatty but not intrusive. The service was spot on and she helped this complete technophobe get to the review page. We will be back soon

The Harvester's menu is fairly comprehensive and relatively inexpensive and of course they're ubiquitous, open all hours (relatively) and have parking. However, The Tarpot appeared to be extremely understaffed. We could see 2 of our meals sitting under the lamps for over 10 minutes and had to draw it to the attention of a waitress who went to check and inquire about the 3rd meal. We waited 15 minutes for our salad bowls and I went to get them myself (we were chatting.) My dessert (mini) was served in what I would describe as a small flower pot, so I asked for a plate which never arrived and also my tea (fruit tea) was served with no water in the cup. I had to ask for water to go with the tea bag. The waitress was very polite but obviously flustered because she had so much to do. Also had to wait a very long time for the bill.The food, well I've had better, not at a Harvester though.

I asked for a few customisations for my meal and they provided amazingly. Would reccomend.

Waiting for family stick in traffic but was seated and met Harri our waitress for the evening. As soon as family arrived Harri came ove took drinks order. Gave us time to decide what to eat. Food was quick, hit and tasty. Harri could'nt have been any better at her job. Very impressive.

The breakfast was very good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. It's just been done up all nice. But the toilets need a bit more bleach down them. As got there at 10.30, and they did not smell great. Would go back again.

The best meal I've ever ate at a harvester, hot tasty , the chicken was moist , the steak was cooked perfectly . The waitress was friendly, bubbly and polite. I commented on the meal to the waitress. Would definitely recommend.

We had Siobhan as our waitress - lovely woman, great service! We tried their new range - loved the tacos. We usually go to two other closer branches but this may be our new selective for harvester.

Food was great however, drink order was wrong. Food order was wrong (twice) and there was only two of us! How it can be wrong twice is beyond me!! Terrible.

Had dinner with my two young granddaughters. Food and service were good. Children loved it and happily helped themselves to a healthy salad bowl. We had a lovely evening. Bridget was particularly kind and helpful when I called after leaving about something we had forgotten.

We went to Harvester today (Sunday) for lunch. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and ordered our drinks (which also took a fair while to arrive). The food was OK, but nothing special. I had ½ rotisserie chicken with sage fries while my wife had a rack of ribs and sweet potato chips. The chicken was a bit dry while the chips were tough. My wife enjoyed hers. The salad bar was well stocked and the place was generally clean. The main issue is that there weren't enough servers. We came in at about 14:30 and it was fairly quiet. As a side note, all the burgers are served in brioche buns (which is a shame as I can't stand them).

Donna, our waitress, was superb extremely friendly and professional.

Disgusting menus and dirty cutlery

I took 6 people for Sunday lunch and forgot to put my car reg in the computer I have been chased by ticket enforcement companies that have sent threatening letters I have been in to the restaurant and the manager could not do anything about it as I paid in cash for the meal and have not kept the receipt so I have no proof of being in the restaurant I must say that the food wasn’t that great either at the Tarpots Restaurant I go to a harvester every week and this one is not up to their usual standards

The food was served very quickly. It was well presented and tasted very good. The staff were very friendly and our waitress Donna was lovely and very nice towards our children. Would happily come back.

Went there sunday 7th July2024 I was the only one at the bar waiting to be served for a few minutes, my partner came in walked to the bar I said hello turned back around someone else was being served , I said I was next he said you were greeting your partner plus the part of the bar I was at was not for drinks but ordering food , even though the customer being served before me was ordering food from other end of the bar , I told him there wasn't anything stating this , so think he was making rules up for whatever reason that really doesn't make sense , just a bad attitude by this bar man . I decided to leave there &then .Ive been there quite a few times & always spend quite a bit of money but if that's how I'm going to be treated I'd rather spend my money where I'm being treated fairly & decently . Don't think I'll ever set foot in there again . Hope that this barman gets to understand that it's not his job to be this way but to treat customers properly as that's what he's there for & he's not the owner but making the takings behind the bar plus restaurant go down if that's his attitude towards people

Visited 2 days ago. Had rib eye steak, (a first for me there) which was very nice & cooked exactly how I like it. The whole dish was lovely. Staff very helpful & told us about the 40% discount offer. Nice decor & surroundings. However, this is the 3rd occasion that I have been there where I, or others in my group, have had the steak, chicken & prawn dish. On each occasion the steak has been tough and chewy. It has been raised with the waitressers but nothing seems to change & they still keep churning out the same tough, chewy steaks!

Salad Bars a massive draw, foods always spot on.

Refurbished since my last visit, nicely decorated, went for an early lunch not overly busy, filthy unclean. Carpet never hovered. Service was sooooo slow it was unreal. Wouldn’t attend again. Food mediocre at best.

One of our favourite places to go and eat. Food is lovely, service is always great and you know what you’re getting each time you go to a harvester.

I didn't expect fine dining but I did expect food that was edible. I ordered the Ribeye £23.99. When the meal come the battered onion was the size of a 20p piece, mushroom size of a 10p and the rice straight out of a packet, dry and tasteless. As for the Ribeye I expected a great flavour due to that particular cut of meat yet was completely tasteless, which clearly hadn't been seasoned and cooked badly for medium rare. Again I wasn't expecting fine dining but was expecting something slightly better than weatherspoons, yet I was wrong.

Visited the Tarpots Harvester for a late lunch. The service was excellent, as expected. The food was also excellent and cooked to perfection. My wife had the halumi while I had the rib eye steak. It was the best steak I have had in a long time, and I've had many, It was succulent, tasty, and a nice thickness to get your teeth in. A great cut of meat. Thank you IAN for cooking an excellent meal.

We visited with family and had a great experience. Big shout out to Siobhan our waitress who really looked after us and explained everything. Food was good and we will return

We visited Harvester Tarpots over the weekend and must say how friendly and charming our waiter William was that evening. Nothing was too much trouble and he kept us entertained while we waited for our meals. He is a credit to the restaurant and it was a pleasure to meet him, Many thanks

Visited on a Saturday evening, it was fairly busy but our waiter William was frequently popping by to ask if we were all ok, the food was really nice and the service was good, I do usually find the Tarpot a pleasant place to eat and are happy to give it 5 stars

The restaurant is not ready for their collection service - I recently ordered collection using Harvester’s app. The app told me to collect the food at 8pm and despite arriving on time, I endured over half an hour of waiting. There was no one at the front of the house to greet you either and I had to walk to the bar counter to speak to the staff. One member told me that my order was not ready and she will let me know when it is done. I was then left standing by the bar for over half an hour despite every 10 minutes I tried to stop someone to check my order again. I understand the delay can occur but the extent of wait was simply unacceptable. Nobody gave you any update until the manager came to me after a 25 minute wait. She explained that the busy service and some emergency earlier in the kitchen that caused the delay. While I acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances can arise, it is the responsibility of the restaurant to manage such situations promptly and professionally. They could have also updated me earlier rather than half an hour later leaving me standing there like a fool. The burgers we ordered were lukewarm and I suspected some lack of communication in the kitchen or the front of house potentially left the food unattended for some time. The burgers were seasoned well and it is a shame that they didn’t taste their best. I have been eating in different Harvester before and all those visits were pleasant. I regretfully can’t recommend its collection service based on this experience. I may come other time with my family for a dine in experience but until that day, I will leave this review as it is.

The serving staff were great. The food quality has deteriorated over the last few months. We have on a few occasions received burnt inedible food, almost raw meat (including pork and chicken products).
