Delicious as always. Service a bit slow to start with but once we'd placed our order it was very prompt. Fried dumplings for starters were delicious. I had the tofu and seafood soup with rice which was flavourful and filling, 100% would order again (or rather I wouldn't, purely because there are so many other things I want to try in the menu). Bf had the bibimbap (excuse the spelling) with beef and it looked like a good size, but he said he wanted more but he realises that was just him and we hadn't eaten much that day. Food was hot, clearly freshly made. Overall lovely friendly atmosphere. I don't rate the wine but it's fine for what it is. Don't let that put you off, absolutely do visit. I'm planning to bring my parents here and they don't even like going to restaurants.

I purchased some take away food from the Haru establishment in New Malden in the early afternoon of Tuesday 20th April 2021, and was served by an elderly gentleman. I was excited to try the food as I had not eaten there before, however upon receiving the food I had ordered, I discovered that the chicken appeared old and extremely discoloured. Please see the attached images. I regret not going back to the restaurant to explain that this wasn't right. The rest of the order was very amatuerly cooked, lacked flavour and drenched in oil. Since consuming the food, I have not bern feeling well and currently have a very upset stomach. My girlfriend, who I also bought food for, has vomitted and has sufferered from food poisoning symptoms (such as nausea, headaches and chills) after eating the food from this restaurant. This whole ordeal has been terrible and disappointing as we wanted to give this restaurant a try. I am devastated to have to leave this negative review. We will not be returning again.

We had friends and family visiting today and required a table 16 for dinner and were considering where to eat. Lots of choices in New Malden for Korean food but because we have so many kids with us, I suggested a more relaxed atmosphere and choose Haru. We were able to book the back room (the one with all the signatures all over the wall and you get to sit on the floor with low down tables). They re-arranged all the furniture for our group and made it that much special. Food is always great, flavoursome and authentic. We ordered a number of dishes so our friends could taste a number of flavours and everyone enjoyed the experience very much. They also accommodated for some dishes to be altered for those kids who have allergies. Only point was my taller friends found sitting on the floor a bit sore on the knees... albeit they maybe just getting older! Will always come back and recommend to our friends - keep up the great food/service!

Went on a Saturday early evening for dinner. Not busy and was seated straightaway. Very accommodating even with baby and buggy and baby seat was provided. Attentive but not overbearing service. The place has a cafe style feel to it and we were made to feel at home. We were craving Ji Gae, which is like a soup/stew and weren't disappointed. Also tried the pancake, pork bulgogi which we were all very nice. Prices were also reasonable coming to around £100 for 6 adults including starters, mains and drinks. Great for a relaxed, inexpensive meal with friends and family.

It's not the most glitzy of the various Korean restaurant options in New Malden, but the simply styled Haru does the basics very well. The crispy fried chicken starter and the seafood pancake starter were both fine examples of what might be termed Korean comfort food. Mains come with accompanying small plates of kimchi, bean sprouts and potato salad. The spicy pork and rice main course was piquant without being overpowering. Service efficient. You get the sense of being in someone's front room. Meal for two with soft drinks was £36.00.

This place has seriously slumped since I once frequented at least once a week some time back. The dolsot in a hot bowl has at least half the content compared to competition (lets be honest there's plenty). The 5 or 6 flies hanging around were fairly off putting, as was the food stained wall. But to cap it off a request for 10% extra with a card payment. Pull the other one mate. I shall never return

The menu had all items explained in English and pictures of the dishes as well.Cost was reasonable , and portion sizes generous. The taste was fantastic on most of the items we tried. The atmosphere was typical of a venue anywhere in Asia... lively , full of chatter and music. The dining rooms aren't large , but we were comfortable in the European style section. The more authentic Korean style tables at the rear were all filled on a Saturday night. Enjoyed our visit

This restaurant has two sections, a western style seating area at the front of the restaurant, then a traditional Korean seating arrangement in a back room, i.e. where you sit on the floor, which is a nice touch. The décor is a bit ‘make do and mend’, like a cheap café feel, although that isn’t reflected in the price of the food, which for what we actually got was most certainly overpriced. We ordered two Ginseng teas, expecting a pot of tea for two. What came was two disappointingly small glasses of slightly yellowish, almost tasteless water. Which for 6 quid, I thought I’d been mugged. When the food arrived the paucity of the beef in the portion felt like poverty; plus it was cold.In fact the dish consisted of white-hot rice (having no doubt just been blasted in the microwave) with a load of uninspiring cold stuff chucked on top. This place was personally recommended to us, and I am afraid to say it was a bit of a let-down.Having said that my Girlfriend had the Octopus which to be fair was very good. But overall with the sheer amount of Korean competition on the same street, this was distinctly average.

We have been visiting the same restaurant since 2004. The owners has been changed at least four times. I can't remember how many times they have changed the restaurant name. One thing for sure is the price, which is getting higher and quality is going down the hill with the current people. My husband is a vegetarian, there are not that many dishes in Korean restaurants in UK he can order ( don't want to generalise Korean cuisine, I am sure in Korean it's a different) kimchi pancake, kimchi fried rice, tofu stew, seaweed rice noodle fried roll etc. So we have tasted quite a lot of kimchi pancake in the same place with different owners over the last 10 years, I must say this is the first time we both agree it's disappointment. The pancake is thick, not crispy at all, the sauce is boring floating with a few tired spring onion. The side dishes comes together with the main meal ( are they afraid customers will ask for refill if it comes with starters?!) After the meal we both think the owner is trying save, and it comprises the tastes. I am sorry, we won't be going there again.

I read that Korean food in New Malden is better than what you normally get in the West End. I kind of accepted that to be true, since so many Koreans live here, that expectations and standards have to be met. I came here with family on a Sunday for lunch. Not knowing what to expect. The menu was pretty good and has everything you would expect. We ordered a few dishes and I really liked the pumpkin pancakes and the spicy rice cakes. I really liked the teriyaki grilled eel with rice. The food was really good and good size portions. I came out pretty full. Price wise it was pretty good value. With the high scores on Trip Advisor, my GF and I had expected really good Korean food at Haru. We live near New Malden and having checked out 3 other Korean restaurants and finding them exceptional, had expected something similar here. The décor itself was modest but that didn't factor into our review. We ordered seafood pancakes, a squid dish soaked in spicy sauce, and lastly a slightly fried chicken dish. The pancakes should have been the first warning - very little in terms of seafood. What was there were tiny - and I mean TINY - mussels or squid (size of ladybird beetles). Calling these seafood pancakes should be considered misleading. The squid and chicken dishes were drenched in a viscous sauce that had an unpleasant consistency and taste. We were only able to manage a few pieces between us.It is possible we ordered the wrong dishes but on the result of the pancakes - a standard for Korean restaurants - I don't hold much hope for other dishes. For the price of the dishes, we had expected more.

We went there for lunch on the basis of it being so highly rated. Having never eaten Korean food we weren't sure what to expect, but it was delicious and, given that everyone else in there was Korean, probably very authentic! The sauces were quite light and more akin to Japanese than Chinese food. We had deep fried prawns and seaweed as a starter - the seaweed came in the form of those square leaves you get in packets - and these came with other small dishes: boiled potato in a spicy sauce, Chinese leaf in a spicy sauce and one other that I've forgotten but we finished so it must have been nice! Had the grilled eel in teriyaki sauce served on a bed of sesame beansprouts and a silken tofu / egg / squid stew as mains, with plain rice. The portions were generous and the flavours fantastic. The restaurant also sells hair elastics - nice touch! I've only given it 4 stars because the décor and vibe are a little rough and ready and the toilet is outside, but overall, very good.

Salmon teriyaki is highly recommended. Served with (free) brown rice tea. Sometimes you can't find a seat in rush-hour...but the place is small after all. Average price for lunch that I've paid over two years: £7.50. At the time of writing, it is closed at lunchtime - due to "kitchen refurbishment". First of all compared to the size of portion the food is too expensive. You can get much more tastier food for a cheaper price at the watchman for example. There are even better korean restaurants that give more generous portions for a cheaper price such as jjisinae in burlington road towards b&q which unfortunately isn't on here.Second the food through delivery is atrocious. The noodles were all spread out and cold by the time it arrived; the food took way over an hour to arrive and yet the delivery guy failed to apologise because they didn't give any update on the situation. The tuna kimbab had hardly any tuna in it, actually the minimal. Dont go back here

Having eaten there twice recently I can thoroughly recommend this Korean restaurant as providing an excellent friendly service and quality "authentic" dishes with simple 'ban jan' accompaniments. I will return!

Haru isn't a fast food restaurant - but food is served up pretty quickly.Haru isn't fine dining - but the food looks, smells and tastes incredible.Haru isn't expensive - but you are paying for fresh and authentic ingredients.Haru doesn't have a great wine menu - but the house wine isn't bad.I went to Haru for a night out with my partner in either Late-January or Early-February. I worked in New Malden for a while and knew that it had a great reputation for Asian food - in particular Korean cuisine so used TripAdvisor to help me pick a place to eat. This was the top choice - and is still top while I'm writing this.I'm planning on going back soon and realised I hadn't reviewed last time, so this is why it is a later review.Being top choice on here I assumed it was going to be very busy and unlikely to get a table unless I booked in advance. So I called up that day and booked in for around 8pm.When we arrived the front of the restaurant was very busy, but there was a free table we were offered. It looked a lot like a cafe - I was hoping for something a little more intimate though. I'd seen that there were some "floor tables" also and asked if any were available - hoping for a more authentic experience. These tables were in the back section - 4 or 5 low lying tables with cushioned seats on the floor - and only 2 tables were being used. We were asked to remove our shoes in this section - makes sense if everyone is sitting on the floor. This back room on first look seems like a cross between a store room and a public toilet (not because it was dirty or smelly, quite the opposite) because of all the bad graffiti daubed on the walls. It had underfloor heating too. If you like a fancy restaurant - you might want to look elsewhere. So we ordered a lot of food as everything was pretty reasonably priced, a few starters to share etc and then a main dish each.I can't remember the name of the dish (possibly the Haemul Jeongol) I chose as my main, but I made a bit of an error as I picked one of the seafood soup/broths that could easily feed 4 people - it came with a whole crab and squid chopped up. I should've looked at the price.Thing is, even with this error, the total bill came to less than £50 for 2 of us and we had at least 3 beers and 3 glasses of wine in that. The food was simply incredible. Fresh ingredients and made beautifully.Add to that the guy in charge - he couldn't do enough for us. The other staff not quite as friendly, but I think that was more language based than rudeness. All in all, would I go back? Well yes, I'll be there next week.

I visited this restaurant after reading the many positive reviews on TA and after having eaten at many of the other Korean restaurants in New Malden. The restaurant is quite small with a few western style tables at the front and a room with low tables where you sit on cushions at the rear. The food was good we ordered mainly dishes that we order regularly in other Korean restaurants so we could make a fair comparison. One of the best dishes we ordered was the soft tofu stew. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The prices were very reasonable a good meal for 3 cost us less than £30, note there is a charge to use a credit card so it's best to take cash.

One of the Best Korean restaurants in New Malden. Came here by accident after our regular restaurant was closed. this has now become our regular. Staff are warm and welcoming and the food is great. I recommend the chicken gizzards as a starter, truly fantastic. portions are generous and always consistent. Just a great place overall!!

Really cute place with fab food, great service and very good prices. More casual and cafe like than some of the New Malden Korean restaurants so feels a lot less formal. Highly recommended!

This was our first visit to New Malden. We really craved Korean food so went to this restaurant as it was named as the top Korean restaurant in New Malden on Tripadvisor. One of those cases where Tripadvisor is not always right. Food was so so - 3 out of 5. Gimpab was bland and daktoritang missing the flavour and very oily. But most annoyingly we had to wait for 45min and ask, before we could be served, even though people who arrived after us ate and were already leaving! Gimpab was brought with no sauces or small plate dishes. We had to ask for water top up. We were told that those who had reservations were served as a priority. Not sure if this was a one off hiccup, or whether locals/ regulars get preferential treatment, but we are not coming back.

Passing by to visit a friend we craved delicious Korean food, but with no time to sit down we grabbed some Kimbap to go. Service was quick and we even got free hot green tea while we waited. Kimbap was perfectly presented in take out boxes to protect it. The tuna kimbap is my favourite, all the flavours are well balanced. My husband's favorite is the haru kimbap. They are a very good size for the money.I wished we had bought more as everyone enjoyed it at our friends house!

From a 5 star rated restaurant, I would have expected excellence. The service is lovely and very helpful but the food is disappoting. Food was very oily (deep fried and not dried) and the rice was absolutly tasteless. I will not be coming back.

Have been to many Korean restaurants in New Malden and this my favourite which I have visited many times. This time, we went on a Sunday evening and it was packed with customers including families. The decor is minimalist but the food is excellent value for money. Meals always start with complimentary side dishes of kimchi, beansprouts and picked veg. My favourites courses are the seafood pancake and bibimbap. The service is very friendly and the smiling owner always comes to the rescue if the waitress doesn't understand Eglish very well. There are some Korean style rooms in the back too. If you haven't had Korean food recently, give it a go in this welcoming restaurant!

Visited Haru on Tuesday night after work wanting something good, quick and delicious. Haru didn't disappoint! We had a beautiful tempura starter followed by fried chicken udon and a bibimbap. Everything tasted great. Only two points you might find as negatives 1, There's a 10% charge for paying with card (there's a cash point up the road) 2, The chopsticks are metal and, even though I've had a reasonable amount of practice, I found them to be slipperier than the noodles I was trying to pick up! Would we return? Absolutely.

We ate here last week (4 adults and one baby).Food was great and good value for money. We ordered 3 starters and 4 main dishes to share. Some of the dishes came with an assortment of rice, vegetable side dishes and soup depending on what you ordered. Food including soft drinks came to a total of around £60! Very good considering the food was tasty and our bellies were full! We sat in the back room where you sit on low tables on the floor. It was great for the baby who hates being stuck in a high chair! The place was clean and cosy. It felt like you were eating in someone's house! Service was friendly and efficient. The waiter was very helpful in reccomending dishes. We will be back again very soon!Don't forget to take your shoes off if you are dining in the back room.

The Haru in New Malden was a pleasant night out with my sister and my wife. Not only did I enjoy the friendly service and the even friendlier owner(that I had a good laugh with)but morever did I enjoy the food which was the main purpose of our visit.I consider my self as a food lover and the korean cuisin is one of my favorites and I have to admit that Haru is one of the best korean food I had.If there is something I would like to suggest than it would be the korean fried pancake with veg and kimchi which topped every other korean experience that I had.The rest of the food that I had at that night such as the beef bimbimbab and the dobuki were very good as well.Overall a good experience and pricewise cheaper than most of the korean restaurants in London which is another bonus I would like to add.

We all have repetitive behavior. We like to go to somewhere we have sense of belonging, feel familiar, when you know they are good they are always good. There are many restaurants along New Malden High Street, but what make you go to that particular one? If Regency Cafe in SW1 is about British then Haru is definitely Korean. You can find a lots of Korean there is a good sign. The restaurant is simple. Walk in. Sit down and Order. You are paying is £7.5 for Traditional Bimbimbap (Hot rice, beef, egg, veg, service in stone bowl) serve with miso soup. You meal will come with complimentary hot tea and side dishes like bean spout and Kimchi. 5 mins you table is full on..What else? The staffs are attentive, and the owner says hello and goodbye to everyone, no matter how busy he is. You are King. With the winning formula in their dishes, keen service, simple, authentic and value for money. Full of joy you can imagine. If you have kids? Bring them in and try the tatami seats inside, you can also get your kids to draw on their wall. How wonderful! How many restaurants would allow you children to draw on their wall? You need to be quick thought as there is not many space left on the wall. LOL.

Unplanned visit as was in area and wanted an early lunch - and found this little Korean food gem. Very friendly lady explaining the menu and the traditional Korean beef rice bowl was very tasty. Don't forget to pick the hot pot option! Recommended.
