36 Streets Food in Kingston upon Thames

They made extraordinary Vietnamese foods, I say the best in England. And We (with a visiting friend from Asia) have travelled for 1.5 hrs from central London with a lot of anticipation and excitement, ended with huge disappointment when we only realised they are closed on Tuesday. We checked on Google map the night before and it says clearly it’s open on Tues. 🤨🤨

God I love this place, reminds me of my moms cooking. The Spicy Beef noodle soup rules.

Generous portions and very tasty. Service could be better as few things were forgotten.

-Food is immaculate - Servers are often busy butwhen available are helpful -prices are slightly steep but the food is worth it -restaurant ambience and comfort are good

Still the best Vietnamese in the area! 36 Streets is our favourite go to place and we now also take guests visiting from overseas to dinner there. The pho broth is incredible - and portions are extremely generous. The crispy spring rolls are also heavenly. There tends to be a queue outside for dinner time but if you arrive before 7 then you should be seated quite quickly.

Introduced to this restaurant by a friend- originally I used to go to Pho across the road or Wagamama but now I have discovered an excellent Vietnamese place. Tucked away in the cosy alleyway leading to the river is this incredible place. Decorated very low-key and minimalist with friendly and efficient staff and service. This place ticks all the boxes for a hidden gem. I had the chicken wings to start- which is a big portion of around 8 big wings- with incredible sticky juicy sauce and toppings- they are incredible!! I also ordered some of their Pho and their portion sizes are very generous and come with added usual sides; their menu is laid out on a small pamphlet style paper with lots of incredibly varied drink options. I had the iced mango matcha drink and it was brilliant. Highly recommend this place- I have gone back a second time within two months and was not disappointed. My only critique is the fact there is one bathroom (a disabled bathroom at the back end of the restaurant that all the guests have to share- meaning there is somewhat of an awkward wait. Staff are friendly and food is brilliant. Worth the price. Much more well priced than Wagamama and Pho across the road- much bigger portion sizes to.

We ordered grilled chicken with noodles which was good but we also ordered chicken pho which had no flavour whatsoever. The 2 other tables around us had the same experience of just boiled noodles and also complained. We were hungry and running late so had to add a lot of soya sauce and fish sauce to make it go down. After complaining 1st time the server said its same as everyday broth so didn't accept our complain. 2nd time when we complaint again as we saw other tables had same issue, the server said sorry chef forgot to put salt in and we'll give you 50% just on the saltless tasteless chicken pho. I was expecting a full refund on the chicken pho than just half. Safe to say I'll be never going there again.

Probably the vietnamise food with the most reasonable price and portion in Kingston. Pho was honestly great.

Amazing authentic food. The restaurant was extremely busy and still received attentive service which says alot how good this place is. I have visited Vietnam before and the food here is just the same. Will be visiting again soon.

It’s my favourite restaurant in Kingston by far - I have been going regularly since it opened and it never disappoints. Have brought many friends and all of them have also become regulars. Particularly love the pho xao and the summer rolls - always a 10/10.

This place is a friendly local restaurant serving Vietnamese food. We went there after a long break, and the food was as always super fresh and tasty. And the service was as always quick and polite. Would definitely recommend it.

We were walking past and decided to take a chance and sit down and eat and we are so so glad we did! Really nice staff and absolutely lovely food! I find Vietnamese food if often disappointing here in the uk but woahhhh! So much flavour and so nice and fresh! We will definitely be back!

Top quality Vietnamese food! Great service and staff is friendly. We ordered the chicken pho, beef pho, chicken wings, summer rolls, Vietnamese coffee, and mint lemonade. Cute interiors with a real feel of Vietnamese street food atmosphere. The best is their food and service ! Highly recommend!

Beef pho, bun hue, crispy spring rolls, salt and pepper squid w Saigon beer & viet ice coffee with condensed milk 😋 … the total was £56.10. We went on a Friday evening with no booking and got a table within 10 minutes. It was busy & packed but the food came out quickly! The pho was very tasty and warm with loads of meats and veggies… wish there was some extra chilli oil for the pho but maybe I should have asked? The squid was crispy but I didn’t like the spring rolls filling as much as what I’ve had before 😊 overall very nice pho 🍜 perfect for cold weather & ice coffee is always a must! 🧊 ☕️ esp with condensed milk.

A little gem! Lively atmosphere, lovely setting. Great food - squid starter, stir fry noodles, salmon main. The cold summer rolls weren't for me, but the rest was excellent - salmon was especially good.

Good tasting pho. Really enjoyed the spring rolls, tightly packed and delicious dipping sauce. Stir fried noodles a little plain. Good service. Toilet has baby changing facilities.

Cold wet day…. What better than to have a steaming bowl of soupy noodles? This place is near my absolute favourite place for fried food and I passed it many a time and this time .. I went in. Seating was good and service was very quick. Ordered two bowls of soupy noodles…beef pho and the blooming noodle soup. The broth was rich and tasty. I slurped mine up with absolute enjoyment.

One of the more authenticate pho options in London. I haven’t been to Vietnam, but it compares reasonably well with what you can get in California or Washington DC.

Had great experience in the past. However was disappointed last Sunday - little meat and noodles swimming in the soup; duck meat was the worst - not much left after skin and grizzles.

First come, first serve base. They lost our order, and we waited over 20 mins. We asked to double-check our order, and they said the order was lost somehow. The food was good, but the service was very bad.

This has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve been to. Decor is beautiful and the staff are very friendly but most importantly, I could not fault the food or the restaurant one bit! So much taste and colour, for someone who eats a lot the portion size was amazing.

Vietnamese food is always one of my favourite cuisine. Love the food and environment. Pho was so tasty 😋 and I ordered some chicken wings to share with my friend. We sat at the high tables with high stool as it was quite pack during lunch hour and the queue was pretty long. We simply didn't wait for a normal table so it's not exactly comfortable. But overall, still a very pleasant lunch exp

We had rice noddles with veg and tofu. It was freshly made - good texture and flavour. The staff are very friendly and decor is vibrant and colourful. The restroom was clean. We enjoyed the experience and will revisit.

The service was slow, the nems were the same quality as in France. The barbecue chicken and rice was dry, they provided chilli sauce from a bottle, which I though was lazy.

My favourite spot for lunch when I come to Kingston - welcoming staff and the food is just wow - full of flavour and you just can’t stop eating. I ordered the grilled pork summer rolls, chicken pho and tofu curry with rice. Amazing value and large portions.

One of my favorite places in all of Kingston. The food is simply amazing, drinks are so good and the staff is very sweet and friendly. Love the calm and chill atmosphere.

I have been coming to 36 street foods for 2 years. I remember it was amazing, but it is getting worse and worse in this year. I am not sure is it own by different owner or the chef has been changed. The beef is very chewy, like a gum. I remember it was really tasty, but it is terrible now. And it is not the first time. I really love this restaurant, but it really disappointed me.

We are here on a weekend break and came across this place by accident. The food was great, the staff pleasant and the drink I had was delicious, a cold posh lime lemongrass made by the young man who served us. Pity we live 500 miles away or else it would be my new favourite local.

Nice and clean atmosphere, Beef pho soup is sooo nice and yummy. Mint lemonade cream soda was very fresh. Spring rolls and summer rolls also recommends as good for sharing starter!!!

An excellent authentic, Vietnamese restaurant with fast service and fresh ingredients

This was absolutely fantastic. I have been in London on holiday all summer eating in restaurants most days and this was the most delicious meal I’ve had all summer. I ordered the fried spring rolls and mango salad and both were delicious. The only thing I would change is for the mango to be cut more finely as the pieces were a little big. I would love to come back and try some of the other dishes.

Close to our flat so we order a takeaway and collect it about 10mins later. It is very popular and has both inside and outside tables. My favourite is prawns with tamarind sauce.

First time visitor, yummy food, we had the GA Nuong la Chanh and the Bun Bo Sa, very flavorful, fresh ingredients and great portions, will be visiting again.

I have walked past this place a load of times. From the outside it doesn’t look like much. Rustic is the best way to describe it. Finally decided to give it a try. Wow. The food was delicious. Staff were very attentive and food delivered really quickly despite it being busy. Oh and the prices are very reasonable. The pho was really tasty and I can’t wait to go back and have it again.

We ordered Different categories of food including Salad, Curry, Pho, Cold Vermicelli. All are very outstanding and Authentic. It is not easy to find the Authentic taste with attractive price here. I would highly recommend to have Beef Pho, Curry and Salt & Pepper Fried Squid. I ordered Vietnam style coffee. This is the authentic setting as shown photo. I would say this is my first time to see this when I go to have Vietnamese restaurants here. It deserves 5 🌟 !

*Update. - I sadly had to change this rating from five stars down to three. We went back for a second visit because we loved our first time, and both ordered pho. It was incredibly disappointing. Little to no flavour off the broth, and the pork in mine was really not appetising at all, it looked like tinned spam. Would still recommend the summer rolls and the curry. Don’t bother with the pho. The food is absolutely delicious in this restaurant. Really well seasoned, attentive staff and lovely interior. Can’t fault it and can’t wait to go back! Summer rolls are a definite must try! The peanut sauce they come with is amazing. They also have the real sriracha ❤️(IYKYK)

The pho and salt n pepper squid was super tasty and the broth was super flavourful. All the ingredients was fresh and tasty. The service was good and food came super quick. Really loved it 🥰

Loved the food here. Had salmon with rice in hot n sweet sauce, tofu with rice noodles, mango salad with prawns. Service is also quick. If go there on a weekday you'll easily get a table, on weekends there's a long wait

Terrible experience ! Actually we didn't have a chance to try their food. We arrived at 8pm and were seated immediately. While we're looking at the menu, the waiter came back and told us the kitchen was closed. Really ? The restaurant was supposed to close at 9pm and we also saw Deliveroo outside.

Poor service. I went there twice before 9 pm and they said it’s closed and didn’t cater to us. Seemed like they didn’t care about disappointing any customers. Today I got there at 8:15pm and they plainly said they’re closed because they deep clean on a Sunday. They should update this on google so at least people like me don’t feel like a waste of time and effort to travel all they way only to know they won’t cater at all. Truly disappointing! Not gonna visit again and will tell friends not to visit!!

What a great place - wonderful food, good service and sensible prices. The flavours were excellent and the food arrived piping hot and beautifully presented. This family run restaurant is a great addition to the Kingston scene.

Our 9 and 10 year old said this was the best meal ever! Great food, great taste. Good service and standard eating out prices. Had a selection of starters, lovely summer rolls, then the noodles and the kids chicken ramen and it all went. We will be back. Good vibe all round.

This place has the best food in Kingston. Portions are very generous and the taste of the food is fantastic. I’ve spent some time in Vietnam and this takes you back there. If you’re looking for some memorable food in Kingston I’d go here

The food as always was awesome. Highly recommended. In terms of service, we were really disappointed as the waiter kept coming to our table and grabbing the plates as we were eating, at times with food still on the plates. Worst of all, towards the end of us finishing our dinner the waiter comes over and goes to grab the plates again, but there was still food and I was still eating. The waiters hands were extremely wet and he got water all over the food. Naturally I no longer wanted to eat the rest. When I mentioned this to them, the waiter couldn't care less and didn't even apologise. He was almost annoyed I even brought it up. Good place with great food but the way they dealt with us this evening was disappointing.

Very nice Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered squid and spring rolls for starters, and they were delicious.. I had beef pho for mains. Lacked some of the main garnishes. I felt rushed as we hadn't completed our starters and the mains arrived..there wasn't much room on the table for our mains so had to rush eating a spring roll in order for stater plate to be taken to make room for mains. When I raised this with the waiter that the main was arriving so soon, his response was that we were busy and that you should have asked for some time between starters and mains when ordering. When we went to pay by cash , we watched as though we were going to do a runner. I know it is busy and maybe they've had bad experiences before but really that was uncool. Can't say I'm tempted to return in a hurry if this is the service and attitude of staff. I will return, but not anytime soon. Service and overall behaviour are really important to me. Hence, the 4 starts since 3.5 is not possible.

A lovely Vietnamese restaurant in Kingston. Decor is airy and tastefully colourful with a summery Asian vibe. Very good Vietnamese food . The salt and pepper squid was fresh and bright, and the chillies added flavour without being spicy hot. The nem (fried spring rolls) were exactly how they tasted when I had them in Hanoi. The beef pho was flavoursome and tasted very traditional. It only came with Thai basil, chillies, lime, and bean sprouts as garnishes, but traditionally there would also be mint, coriander and / or culantro leaves. They do a refreshing and delicious cold ginger, lemon, and mint drink. Had to dock a star for service, as the pho arrived before the starters were finished, and the waiter seemed flustered that our tiny table couldn't accommodate the bowls. Then when presented the bill the waitress stood over us watching like a hawk as we paid in cash. They must have had bad experiences in the past but it honestly made me feel quite uncomfortable. The bill was pretty standard - just over £50 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 soft drinks, and service charge.

A frequent customer to this authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Love the beautiful deco with colourful lanterns. Recommended their prawn curry rice, crispy spring rolls, and Singaporean seafood fried noodles.

I went here a few months back but completely forgot to review the restaurant. Only just came across the photos I took of the food I had. Better late than never! As a starter I went for the Prawn Gỏi Cuốn (Summer Rolls). They were very fresh and full of flavour, and I was keen to try them as I had never had a cold summer roll before! You could taste the lovely bits of prawn, herbs, and vegetables all individually, and then the satay dipping sauce brought it all together very well! For my main, I had the Bún Huế (Beef Huế). The broth was full of flavour, plenty of noodles...the beef shin was melt in the mouth, the pork sausage had a nice bit of bite to it and the fried tofu pieces gave another texture to the dish...I enjoyed every bite and slurp of this dish! Anyways, just when I thought I'd had enough, my friend asked if I wanted to share a BBQ Pork Banh Mi...I had never had one of these tasty hot sandwiches before and it went down a treat! The pork was very tasty and well marinaded, and along with all the fresh veggies and salad gave it a light, fresh taste...the toasted warm baguette was nice and crunchy too, a lovely snack! So, if you enjoy your Vietnamese cuisine and you're in Kingston, then definitely give this place a go! Friendly staff and good service. Easy 5 stars! :)

Great spot for lunch in Kingston, we stumbled across this place and they squeezed us in. I had a tofu curry - portion size was huge, my partner had a prawn chicken Singapore noodles. Both were delicious. The avocado summer rolls were also great

Absolutely phenomenal Vietnamese food. After having spent some time in Vietnam I can say this is 100% authentic. Fresh ingredients, wholesome and packed full of flavour. The pho took me back to the streets of Hanoi. I would highly recommend!!!

All the dishes are amazing. Mango salad is the best in London! Summer rolls are so nice with thin wrap and meaty fillings. Vietnamese coffee is the proper one 👌👌👌. Reasonable price too. We definitely will be back!

Best place in Kingston. Food is sooooo delicious!!!

Went there for lunch on a Wednesday - no wait for a table and the restaurant filled up quickly after we arrived. Service was swift and friendly. The food was incredibly good value - we tried out two of their Pho bowls. Loads of meat in them, the taste was amazing and portions huge! Would recommend.

I'm a customer who often eats seafood noodles. The noodles I ate today were all cut short unlike before, so I couldn't eat them with chopsticks. I had to eat rice noodles with a spoon. I'm disappointed with the quality that's different than before. Please improve this part. I like long noodles that I can eat with chopsticks like before.

Amazingly tasty- fresh and fab. Service was great and the setting and food were understated and super impressive. So glad we are here and if we didn’t live so far away would definitely be back …. frequently. Oh great value too.

I go here regularly as I am Kingstonian from birth. When I tell you this is hands down my favourite place to eat in all of Kingston I am not joking. The staff are always so friendly, the service is always prompt. I must have been here over 50 times since they first moved to the area, had birthday's and other celebrations here and it has never disappointed me. I am not exaggerating when I say there is not a single thing on the menu I wouldn't order again. The Pho is my hangover cure all, that with a mango nectar gets me feeling normal again. The com curry on a cold winters day is exactly what you need. I used to love the bahn mi sandwiches they served but unfortunately no longer do because of rising costs of the baguettes. Bun thit nyong nem is great for hot day and a regular order when I'm trying make a healthy choice. This is the best restaurant in Kingston and I don't think there is any competition to that statement. I hope this place is still going in 30 years.

Found this place for lunch recently on a trip to Kingston. We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday! The food was delicious and came quickly. The staff were very efficient and we didn’t feel rushed. Will visit again.

This place has sent me ALMOST raw meat in my Pho. This is serious health violation, how can some person even think about serving that meat looks like this? This is really concerning.

A poor experience. We visited on a saturday evening at 6.30pm and they had us waiting outside in the cold (4C that night) for an hour to be seated. We were with 3 children (two aged 5, one 9) who got so cold and hungry that we gave up in the end and went elsewhere. We had asked at the very start what the realistic wait time was and were told "10 minutes". We were repeatedly told this over the next hour, thus stringing us along when it would have been so much better if they could have been up front about being too busy for a family of 5. Clearly either too disorganised or couldn't care less about leaving younguns freezing in the cold for an hour!

The sticky chicken wings are finger-licking goooooood! It's sweet, it's spicy, it's sticky and it delivers a big umami hit. Kept us coming back. So glad that this place survived the lockdown.

First time eating here but we will be back. The food was delicious. Every dish we had was amazing. Over and above the food one of the best things about this restaurant is the super chilled, relaxed atmosphere, no rush to push through tables, excellent service without being over attentive, zero pressure to order and get out. Delicious food, cold beer, lovely staff, highly recommended.

I've been a few times and it's consistently good. The spicy salad is a nice starter, then either a Com curry or tamarind salmon. The staff are friendly !

The best Vietnamese food I’ve had in London. So delicious!

Very delicious and classic Vietnam raw beef noodle in town. Much better than the other Ph* chain restaurant. The classic Vietnam coffee is great however it wasn’t hot enough. The poster with Iced Mango Matcha Latte at the front door was never available unfortunately.

MUST GO! This place is a hidden gem in Kingston. One of the best calamari I have ever tasted and portions are amazing. You will leave feeling full.
