The worst subway sandwich I’ve ever had I ordered a veggie delight which is my usual order. Given that the salad is the main ingredient, I expect a decent amount of it in the sandwich. There was a tiny slither of lettuce, one cucumber and a couple of chopped peppers. Noticing the state of my sandwich, I asked for extra olives and jalapeños… the server acknowledged this request by putting 4 pieces of chopped olive on top of abysmal sub. Almost £5 not well spent on this occasion. Wondering whether this is a service station thing as subway usually deliver on the veggie delight.

Stopped with 2 teenage grandchildren and we had Tuna baguettes and one Chicken Tikka baguette, coffee, coke and cookies all were very good.

Fantastic subway. Have a lovely new veggie steak sandwich. Guy was training new girl and both of the staff were frat. Quick service great with complex order and food fab

i had problems with my vehicle on the m62 and my red oil light came on. I stopped at the petrol station for help with which oil to buy and also how to put it in my vehicle. I was quite stressed as my mobile phone had no charge (i had been on a flight which was delayed and also was stuck in 3 hours of a traffic jam). I had left my charger ina Greek hotel. The male assistant could not help with any advice and called a lady (Sue Senior) to help. Sue went on to her phone to look up what oil would be suitable for my vehicle. Then over and above Sue went on her phone as we could not find the dipstick. There isnt one for my car so she looked up how to check the levels and put the oil in my car. What an absolute star who helped me get sorted. Sue is a credit to that station and i think you should have her in a role training others on the basics to help people in an unforeseen situation requiring help, Amazing lady! Sue didnt know the answers but you bet she found them If your on the M62 Sue will definitely help you get sorted

Stopped here on way home from airport was so depressing only the shop open nothing edible available coffee from a machine tasted awful…everything overpriced …definitely worth giving this one a miss

Lovely food and a great place to relax. Good value for money, stopped here many times. Toilets are clean.

Looking for a quick coffee on your journey? Look elsewhere! The three staff operating in this drive-thru outlet just ignored the queue of people waiting to place an order. Goodness knows how long it would have taken them to prepare and serve the order after they bothered to actually take it! After waiting for someone - anyone!- to be served we left without ordering after waiting 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. Rubbish and ignorant service, Starbucks need to get their staff sorted.

Great service, stopped of to have a drink and something to eat can't fault the food and the staff are delightful.

Stopped off at these services with family for the first time while on holiday in England. Went to Subway (a family favourite) and it didn't disappoint. Clean, tidy, staff polite and professional, food well priced, healthy and tasty. Neglectfully, I left my shoulder bag that contained my spare car key and only realised when I was well up the road north. Long story short, Helen, the Duty Manager, went above and beyond and found my bag and sent it by recorded delivery to my home address in Scotland. What a saviour and a gesture I wont forget.

We have used this service station many times when going to and fro Manchester Airport. Unfortunately we can no longer use it as we feel we have been treated appallingly. We had an early flight but an unexpected snow storm meant the motorway was closed. We tried various other routes but the snow was too deep and trees were coming down. I was scared we were going to get stuck. We managed to get back to Hartshead Moor service station. Whsmith was the only outlet open as it was 4.30 am, dark and snow covered the carpark. The man in Whsmith was great and gave us advise. We decided to stay put until it was safe to proceed and the motorway was open. As soon as the motorway was open we left the carpark. We were sent a parking charge as we had gone over the 2 hours. At the time we were concerned about our safety and I thought service stations were there to help in these situations. We bought food and drink. What is the world coming to? I wish I'd knocked on a strangers door to help us we might have been treated with some compassion. Money Money Money. What about Care, Compassion and common decency?

Stopped at Burger King at hartshead moor last night to get my family a meal after a day out and had awful experience. Customer service was awful, this includes the shift manager. I had to wait 23 minutes watching staff on permanent go slow. What made it all worse was just eat drivers / delivery people appeared to to pushing in the queue. Ordered a milk shake which as it turns out they didn’t have. We were reluctantly offered an alternative drink but we weren’t offered the difference in price. On asking for the difference we were made to feel silly and a nuisance. In summary a totally disappointing experience. We left feeling angry and robbed of £31. Have complained to Burger King customer services who say they can’t provide a full or partial refund as I didn’t place the order online and they can’t see transactions in store. They have suggested returning to the store to address the issues with them directly. I will not be making a 60 mile round trip to this Burger King or any other.

Called here on Monday 18th October, 2021, on our way to Harrogate for a short break. This Motorway Services is smaller than most but was very convenient for us. We dined at Starbucks and our food and drink was quite acceptable. These places are never cheap but it served our needs. The cafes and toilets were clean and we could not complain. There are other retail outlets to visit also.

Absolutely astounded by the disgusting attitude of the staff. We realised the order was entered incorrectly and wanted to amend it at the second window, after politely calling "excuse me" to the man in a blue shirt (I assume a manager) several times, we realised we were being ignored. When he finally came over to accept payment, we asked him to rectify the order, to which he replied that the order was already made now and we had to pay for it. I told the man we had tried to grab his attention before he made the drinks, and an incredibly rude and sarcastic attitude like nothing I've ever seen in my 6 years in retail management began. He told us he "doesn't respond to being shouted at" despite the fact we were politely shouted "excuse me" to save him having to make the drinks twice. After a debate, he agreed to remake the drinks, but sarcastically commented it and condescended us, with a malicious tone to his "and can I do anything else for you??", His eyebrows were practically hitting the roof! This is exactly how NOT to handle customer service! I wouldn't have minded paying for the incorrect drinks as well, despite the fact it was their mistake and we had tried to prevent them from being made, but his condescending and sarcastic attitude makes him completely unfit for a customer facing position. Absolutely disgusting!

9 quid odd for an appalling Burger King. The lettuce was Brown and old, the bread really dry and crumbly (literally fell into bits) and even worse took about 30 mins to be ready !

I go all over the country calling in mostly at Starbucks and have to say this is the rudest most unprofessional Starbucks I have ever been in. I can accept a small amount of rudeness as you can never be sure what sort of day people are having, but this place really surpasses my levels of tolerance. After a few visits, I mentioned that if they weren't happy working there they should consider an alternative career. Their response was to ensure I got a stale cake which I deliberately went out of my way to take back. Taking into account this Starbucks is a concession run by the services, they have gone out of their way to take their greasy cafe manner into the upmarket coffee culture. All I can say is the two do not mix. The coffee is slightly more expensive being on a services and having a lack of choice. If you want Starbucks Coffee, stale cake, and fag end service from a failing 60's service centre, then look no further.

A average service station. Clean gents toilets. Has a Wh Smiths a pricy waitrose, Starbucks and a KFC. Outdoor eating facilities outside with overflowing bins, which were emptied out. Nothing special.

Stopped here on the way to our hotel. Does what it says - motorway services providing much needed place for travellers to stop, have a leg stretch, drink and food. Clean and well maintained, so always nice to stop here on our journey.

I was in shock today at the sheer audacity of the westbound Subway when I asked why my footlong Meatball Marinara only had a total of 4 meatballs. I pointed at the picture above the counter and was told that the picture showed 6 meatballs HALVES, so it was correct. Yes, if you do the maths, I should only be getting 1.5 meatballs per 6" and he, therefore, was giving me the extra meatball free of charge! How kind.I'm sorry, if a national brand like Subway, is now scamming its motorway customers like this, with such bald-faced lies, treating the customer as idiots, where will it end?My meatball war has just started, now where did I put that phone number for advertising standards.

We stopped here for breakfast and had Coffee, Juice, toasted sandwhich and muffins. The food was okay

Called in here just for a coffee at Starbucks and use the facilities,on our way to Hull coffee was good staff friendly,facilities were clean.

I usually live in Starbucks being on the road for my job I’m in Starbucks pretty much twice a day. I pulled up at the services for a break between appointments and the service from the two girls was appalling. I asked for a cookies and cream frappe. She poured me a strawberry one. I stated at the end that it was cookies and cream I asked for and the look I got from both girls was disgusting she then behind my back whispers to the other girl ‘the b**** asked for a strawberry’ and they they both started laughing it has put me off the brand completely. Looks like costa from now on . Starbucks should be ashamed that they hire people like this.

When traveling westbound down the M62 I often stop here to use the toilet, stretch my legs and have a coffee and something to eat and I find the various fast food outlets and the shop sells food and drink that is adequate.The only problem I have found is the shortage of places to sit and eat. There are only about 6 tables in the food court area which is inadequate for the amount of people that use the services. There are some tables outside usually taken up by people that have brought their own food, which is fair enough, but a lot of them are not even eating or drinking anything. On more than one occasion I've had to eat and drink my coffee sat in my car.I think it would be a good idea if there were signs saying that the tables can only be used by people eating/drinking and maybe put in some benches for people that just want to sit

The loos was clean and free (after paying 40 pence in lakedistrict this was welcome) we had a coffee but very little places to sit down, people from our coach party having to stand and drink coffee.Place is very dated.

Stopped off here for a motorway break at 10.15 pm. Travelling east. Found almost everything closed. Burger King cleaning up. Subway closed and seemed to be worked on by contractors. WHSmith open for coffee and cold food. Only managed a Costa Express and tea. Only table to sit at outside gents loo which smelled like a gents loo too. Only one other in the services too which should have been a warning sign.Come on Welcome Break nothing welcoming about this stop. No star rating for this visit.

I visit Hartshead Moor services on a fairly regular basis. There is always ample parking. I have found 99% of staff to be friendly and helpful. The seating areas are always clean. These services are small compared to more modern ones but there is the usual choice of outlets and if you don’t like the fresh fast food which service areas offer there are tables where you can eat your homemade sandwiches and stewed tea!

Really bad service at subway, rude workers, prices advertised wrongly and food not given how it is advertised either, swerve this one!

Motorway service stations are not my favourite and i use them on a needs must only stop.this was a typical soul-less place with all the standard brands on offer .did nothing to change my opinion of these places

Be very careful if you stay one minute over the two hours you get a £60 parking ticket. Read the notices or you will never know till the ticket arrives as it’s all done by cameras.

We stopped at Hartshead Moor services for a coffee and snack (late afternoon, Sunday 21st October 2018).This is a review of Starbucks.We ordered 1 coffee, 1 tea, and 2 items of food that had to be heated. This order arrived in 3 batches - tea first, 5 min interval, then coffee, 10 min interval then the heated items. The staff forgot the heated items, but didn't seem at all concerned about this error, just kind of “normal” really. Bored and totally un-interested is a pretty accurate way of describing the “Starbucks team”Tables were uncleared and the whole place was scruffy, food on the floor and so on.(By contrast we also called into the Waitrose, it was clean and tidy, and the young staff member who served us could not have been more helpful or pleasant).

Litter strewn all over the tables, floor and seats. Every single table has dirty cups on it. The member of staff also didn’t listen and subsequently missed part of the order, twice. I’m also surprised at how long it took from paying for the coffees to being handed them, considering it is very quiet. They also forgot one of the drinks, considering there were only 3 this really is poor service.

rather than pay the ridiculous prices our coach pulled off further along at a Carvery pub just off J20 . Great food much cheaper prices and they fed the driver for free !

Good selection of fast food, as usual with motorway service stations everything is over priced but I suppose if you're thirsty you pay the price

Stopped by Hartshead Moor for services. I got a veggie sub from Subway. The lad making my sandwich asked me if I wanted him to change his gloves because he had made a sausage sub before mine. I politely declined but thought it was very considerate and thoughtful. I am sorry that I didn’t get his name but it was on 17June at 10:46 am. The facilities here are clean and tidy, it’s a nice place for a rest stop.

Not the most modern cutting edge service station, small, the basic WHSmith, Starbucks, Burger King and a few more. It does the job.

Like all motorway services everything costs a bomb rip off from food to petrol toilets cleen and free but that's about the only thing that is I really don't know how they can get away with it and it's about time somthing was dune about it as there government Owens's and are meny to be rest places you even get charged if your there for over two hrs

We called here for a full English breakfast but it has been replaced with this Subway,We don't normally do Subway but decided to try it,The food was ok,coffee nice,place clean and a lot cheaper than the breakfast would have cost,we weren't disappointed with our breakfast so may try next time we go that way.

I have visited both sides of the services many time with out issue. However this was during the day. As I have an electric car I stop at the services to use there charger and a welcome coffee from Starbucks is always gladly received. Due to lack of problems in the past I planned my journey to stop at hartshead and was deeply disappointed when I arrived and everything was closed or closing. The only thing open was WHSmiths where I was able to get a lukewarm coffee from a vending machine. With access to both sides you would have thought they could have kept at least 1 site fully open.Deeply disappointed :-(

Ordered grande latte one shot , ordered wrong on first attempt then served half full and lukewarm, cinnamon bun rock hard really not recommended waste of over six pounds ..I will avoid

Visited the Starbucks to get my daughter a frappe and a snack. No issues with food or drink, but disappointing that the price is higher than on the high street. Rest of services clean and tidy.

Heading East, the choice of food was Burger King, Starbucks or Subway. We opted for Burger King, where the food was pretty much what we expected. The lads serving were amazing - helpful and cheerful despite being run off their feet - perhaps the place was a bit understaffed. The washrooms were fine, the petrol almost 20p a litre more expensive than the service station we used before joining the motorway and the car park seemed designed to make it difficult for both pedestrians on motorists to negotiate safely. On the plus side, most of the potholes have been filled in and there are a few tables outside on a grassed area. There is not much choice of alternatives - heading East, I find Ferrybridge preferable, though it's more awkward to get to off the motorway, and West, Birch may be a bit better, but they are both a fair way.

A quick break was made very nice by the staff working at the subway counter on Friday 28/08/17. They were super efficient, polite and very helpful. The are a credit to Subway and enhanced our stop of there. I didnt get their names but all of them working at that time were extremely nice.

I have used this service stop so many times. The good news is that the washrooms are clean. The bad news is the food stops after 10pm. My lad had the last of what KFC were cooking. He didn't get all of what he ordered, and that he a probably down to the man serving not really paying attention. But he was charming and polite so mistakes happen. Do not have KFC coffee it has to be the worst ever. I tried to convince myself that it would grow on me but it didn't and ended up in the bin.A helpful stop when in need but have low expectations if you are thirsty or hungry.

The coffee and tea here was disgusting. Americano was tasteless and the tea was so weak that it was like dish water. The quality of tea bags must be rock bottom. This lot was not cheap costing nearly £6.00. I recommend the Yorkshire Tea machine in the entrance to smiths for a decent cuppa and a coffee from burger king.

We called at Hartshead Moor services on Friday 30th June 2017, while travelling home from Blackpool after a 5 day holiday break.I found the services on offer were very good, good clean toilets with a good clean smell of freshness, unlike some services, shower rooms on offer which were clean, a good thing for traveller who needs refreshing.The prices are like any other services, but you expect to pay more.The outside area is kept clean with lawns, which has picnic tables / seats, the services also has a good disabled access to the building, with slopes for easy wheel chair access.Good to visit a well maintained service station.

Subway,Starbucks, WHSmith, KFC all with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Clean and tidy and well sign posted for 20miles. 2 hours free parking.

I didn't think we had services like this any more. I know the brexit crowd would like to return us all to the 1970s, I'd like to recommend this services as an ideal day out for anyone of that persuasion...

We were returning to the east coast from Manchester Airport after a week in the sun on Gran Canaria & just needed something to keep us going after a good lunch at Las Palmas airport. It was around 8.15pm & the place was fairly quiet with just the staff serving at the various establishments & a few cleaners. The "sandwich artist" was polite, attentive & helpful, the sub was satisfying & although his coffee machine was being cleaned, he directed us to the Costa machine in WH Smith, which was very welcome. The cleaning staff we encountered during our visit were cheery too and it all made for a pleasant half an hour break in our journey.Full marks!

People pull down the Hartshead Moor services, but without this facility what would motorists / lorry drivers / coach drivers & passengers do for rest, food & toilet breaks.Calling today for a break, toilet & a drink, we found the services were very full, especially lorries, the service was good, the toilets were clean.Places like Hartshead Moor services keep the motorways safer, where drivers can have a break.

Called in for necessary stop and a coffee. Neat clean and tidy but unexciting. Toilets hot and smelly. Quiet horrible. No ventilation. Yuk. Otherwise as good / bad as services get.

We stopped here as part of our journey back from a business meeting. It is dated but the facilities are clean and well cared for. We opted for just a drink from Starbucks. Always good and consistent beverages, no matter where you go.

decided against eating anything in this dated and tired motorwayhalt, if you ever used an autobahn service in Germany, then none over here will ever measure up to your expectations again!no wonder drivers exceed the recommended driving hours,who would voluntarily spend time in this place or most other services in the UK, other than for nostalgia for the 70's when one had to stop at regular intervals to let the Allegro,/ Viva/ Avenger cool down and their oillevels topped up.Happy days (not)

Returning from a coach holiday,Isle of Man,driver required to rest,but why here!.Irrespective of quality of food on offer, the whole complex is very dated,and depressing especially, when accessing from coach park. Saw two Americanised fast food chains ,decided on Subway,but where are our counter parts dispensing home based, British food. Long time retired, not reminiscent of early days when service stations were young and, vibrant!

People rave about Subway so only wanting a lightish snack whilst on our way to Yorkshire we stopped at this Service Station. I chose to have a salad and certainly got a huge pile of lettuce in the bowl. I had asked for a ham salad but the ham was disappointing as it was so thin and the predominate taste was the "smoked" element. I know this is a popular chain and that it is not to everyone's tastes but it was very expensive for what you got (ie loads of lettuce). There was no greeting from the staff behind the counter, who just seemed to be very bored and basically they did not "sell" Subway at all to the customers. A disappointing first experience of Subway.

I only went for a toilet brea,but place was clean and tidy the toilets were clean too. Car park bit dark tho could do with more lighting and same for the direction signs on the way out could do with been light up son u can see them better.

Be realistic this is a service station, so a) they will always charge you a premium for food, b) dependent on time of day the queues will be bad and c) fine dining and romantic views dont even enter into it!Visited as an increasingly recurrring Sunday habit of having Sunday dinner at the services, they have a KFC on one side and i think a BK on the other. The KFC was fresh hot and fairly quickly served. It'd have been even better if it had been what i'd ordered but by the time i got back to my car and opened i couldnt be bothered traipsing back to change it. Kind of sums up the service stations experience, they know you are possibly only ever going to visit them so why bother with decent service, they know that should you visit regularly...well youre a captive audience, you won't venture off the motorway are there to simply refuel as it were so again...why should they bother? Elsewhere the toliets immaculate, the dining area shabby and grimy, the building a sixties small scale service station. There is the usual statutory provision of petrol station (BP), toilets, showers etc. as to the brands of food, a Burger King , Subway, KFC.,Starbucks,Deli2go, Harry Ramsdens, Waitrose, as well as WHSmiths. Not great, not bad, average.

This is one of the better Motor Way Service Stations with lovely eating places in a light and bright setting. The Subway here is good and also the Starbucks. Great place and quite a quiet place for a rest and a coffee and the food is not so expensive.
