Very poor Ordered a Cumberland sausage sandwich on white bread When it arrived it was plain processedpork sausages in supermarket sliced bread The ketchup (in a Heinz bottle refilled) was cheap and vinagery When I questioned the sausages I was told it was all they had I won’t be visiting again!

Since the takeover the quality of food has decreased but the prices have increased. The previous owners ran a fantastic food offering. Everything was delivered with care and now the opposite is true. The quality of the sandwiches has really disappointed especially the bacon based ones where the bacon is undercooked. It’s such a shame the greed has surpassed quality and service.

The food and soups are great and always have been. I know the business has been sold and taken over however it makes no sense whatsoever to then increase the meal deal from £3.90 to £4.40. That’s an eye watering increase. There’s already grumbling from where I work over the price hike. Let’s hope common sense takes over from greed

Exceptional help from Connor as he saw that I had difficulty getting up the steps due to bad knee . He suggested an easy route once in . I would visit again .

I work locally and Hartleys is THE PREMIER spot for a takeaway lunch . Mike’s fresh soup options are rotated daily and I have thoroughly enjoyed the soups this week. The sandwich options are also D-Licious Highly recommend this place

On a weeks holiday in York my twin brother Stephen and I were out bright and early on a freezing cold February morning ,walking over Lendal Bridge we dropped in Hartley's Of York ,a cafe we've been to on a few occasions now. Love the look of this cafe ,interior is cosy, exposed stone work, lovely decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options all housed in a wonderful former toll booth along the bridge. We ordered a coffee each, these were served steaming hot,we settled back and planned out the day ahead while sipping our coffee's. Coffee here is spot on ,quality sums it up best ,a really reviving cup of coffee,so tasty, just what we needed to get a bit of warmth into us. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Hartley's Of York is easy to locate along Lendal Bridge. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, open from 7.30am. Saturday & Sunday, closed. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Walking over Lendal Bridge my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into Hartley's Of York and what a great visit. Housed in a former toll booth ,actually looks like a turret on a castle, its a nice neat and tidy interior, it's cozy ,we ordered a flat white coffee each, coffee was served steaming hot, we just kicked back and planned out the day ahead while sipping our coffee's. From the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve,it was just so good being in such a lovely cafe enjoying a quality coffee and in such a wonderful ancient walled city. This cafe is popular, not just sit in but take out ,loved it ,loved our visit here and when we are back in York soon I will most certainly revisit here. Easy to locate along Lendal Bridge. Opening hours; Monday to Friday,7.30am till 2.30pm. Saturday & Sunday,Closed . Most definitely well worth a visit.

Sadly the staff were bordering on rude , especially the lady who appeared to be in charge . There was a tiny space to wait for a table. As I was on my own , the table which had been cleared for me by one of the other staff was not given to me and I was pit at a table next to a door where children were attending a private party. I wanted to order soup but was told it would be ½ hour. Not sure why that would be as it said soup was available from 12 noon and it was simply a case of putting some in a bowl ! This , coupled with a frosty atmosphere was enough to make me leave. There were 3 staff working in thr seating area yet there were uncleaned tables and lots of people who were clearly waiting to order . Sadly , I decided I wasn't particularly welcome and I decided to leave.

Not open 24 hours anymore since COVID, but open from 6am until 12am except Sun. The ATMs outside are available 24/7, and the store is huge, everything you could possibly want

Popped in for a bite before work and noticed that it was filled with dirty tables which made me want to take away as i went to get my tuna sandwich i noticed a pair of scissors just lying there as i gave it to the guy working he looked completely clueless, once my food was cooked they picked it up with their hands!! and just shoved it in the packaging so when it came to eating it, most of the tuna and cheese was stuck to the top and it was not enjoyable. I wish I went back to complain and get my money back but I just didn't have time by then

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at a great price. I love the no phones, no internet, no music, no TV rules.

Popped in as I honestly was desperate for the toilet. I noticed they had a cafe so was very happy to purchase something or even grab a cute little gift on my way out. I was immediately bellowed at across the room by a scary looking woman who said ‘we don’t have public toilets, that is what you’re looking for isn’t it?’ I said that I was but I was happy to purchase something too (I totally understand business owners view on this however it is a ladies time of the month, I was desperate and I verbalised that I was willing to purchase something too). She told me that I was a liar and I wouldn’t buy anything and clearly wasn’t going to tell me where the toilet was so I used the disabled quickly (no one else was around). I said that it was disgusting to deny another person the human right to use the bathroom. SHE TOLD ME THAT I WAS DISGUSTING!!! Wow. I used the bathroom and calmly came out saying that I had full intentions of buying something and as I’m from a small historic town myself, I’m more than happy to support local businesses. She proceeded to aggressively tell Me that I wasn’t going to buy anything so feeling intimidated I left. To which she followed me to the door, then started taking photos of our car through the window. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! VILE
