Nice pub to visit if you're ever in york. Good range of drinks at fair prices for the area. Good entertainment was a bonus as well

Nice place for some rest bite. Especially if you like sport

It is what it is. An honest, old fashioned pub serving the likely beers.

We were in to see the band. New to us. Following on from visit to the Phoenix. We had mentioned the band to others we had just met. They followed us down. Browny points please! Service was prompt. Band was Blue style so musicianship was very good. Only had 25mins but enjoyed ourselves. Regular source of good music.

We called in for a drink on our way to get back on the coach after a really good day in York ,we had 45mins spare, the lady behind the bar was very nice, pleasant and accommodating she even offered us a quieter room to sit ,as the locals ones were watching the football , will definitely call in again

The place stunk worce than the toilets we left faster than we entered the pub Desperately need a clean and some windows opening

Went to see Glamrocks last performance. It was absolutely rammed with people, it's poorly set out ..could hardly get to the bar or loo. The band was brilliant though. The bar staff excellent . Very efficient and friendly. The whole place needs a makeover. It's grim.

Not much variety for alcohol free drink. Place needs a good refresh on seats, carpets etc

Stayed for one night. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and warm. The room could have done with a hair dryer, and a lamp but everything else was great. There was a band on the Saturday night, the place was full and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely stay again

Sky sports and horse racing on big tellys. Always seats available. Cheerful bar staff and tasty Guinness, what more does a man need?

Cannot remember when I last visited the Edinburgh Arms. Went in to watch a band so they were really the highlight not the pub. Busy but easily served at the bar. Standing room only when we got in. Bit of a pinch point near the pool table but again that was the popularity of the band not the pubs fault. 'Till the next time.

Dropped in for a drink as it’s local to us and we had not been before. Band on. I went to the toilet briefly. When I came out husband had been kicked out. Not quick enough buying a drink. Don’t worry won’t be back. Rude!! (yes and it stinks too!)

Basic pub, no frills, but friendly staff, good choice of drinks, sports screens, live music at weekends. We loved it.

Went to see a local band. Great atmosphere. Been in there many times always warm and welcoming. Dave one of the longest serving landlords in the city.

WOW _ what a stench, called in as a pit stop on our way to an Indian & I have never smelled anything as bad in my life, if I hadn't needed the toilet I would've walked straight out. Mucky musky smell of I don't know what, DEEP clean needed. 🤢🤮

Always liked this place before a concert at The Barbican. Down to earth and friendly bar staff. And not paying the exorbitant York pub prices.

Visited on a Friday night, almost entirely empty except for the staff, meaning very little atmosphere. Pool table was decent though and you can watch the sport here (rugby league when we visited).

Lovely atmosphere and great owners. Just not sure what nights they do food.

In my opinion this pub has remained traditional for many years. No arty fartyness about it. Prices are great considering how close it is to the city centre.

Went on two consecutive nights over a weekend away. Both nights had good live bands but 2nd night ruined by staff. Closed earlier than the online information stated + bar staff gave no warning of bar closing. Wouldn't serve us 15 mins before closing and was rude about it. Wouldn't bother going back.

It's been a good few years since we last went to the Edinburgh arms , we were set on going elsewhere for tea , when we spoke to a couple in a nearby pub, who were on their way there and they said how good the food was. On initial impressions it looked a bit desolate inside as there was only the afforementioned couple in the lounge when we walked in . but after an excellent pint of Black sheep for myself and a wine for my wife we took the plunge and ordered some food. we had a bacon and cheese burger & a lamb burger both with homemade chips and a side portion of proper homemade onion rings. I can only describe the food as exceptional value for money , the bacon / cheese burger was superb , but the lamb burger was even better . By far the best we have ever tasted. The landlord was friendly and helpful & the local pool team who came in whilst we were there were friendly and welcoming. we will certainly be back soon , The steak and garlic chicken sound very nice !!

Traditional pub mixed with sports pub. I didn't understand the decor but that's not why you go to a pub like this! Not a lot of choice of lager but had a couple Whitley Neil gins and the standard spirits. Lots of space in a 2 room pub with a pool table, darts board and a couple of TVs. Also has parking and looks nice from the outside but less so from the inside. I wouldn't return but it's worth a visit if you're in the area. Nothing special.

Great food. Just had the best steak I have had in a long time also the homemade lamb burgers are not to be missed.

We enjoyed two visits here. Great service at the bar from friendly staff. There was live music on Saturday night that we all enjoyed. 60's was their theme. Situated near the Barbican.

Just dropped in on the spur of the moment, we had food and a couple of pints, all the bar staff were very friendly, and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend popping in if you can !!

Stayed here a few weeks back, was visiting for a family members birthday party. Mixed place, the room we stayed in was a twin, the room overall was pleasant, clean and beds were surprisingly comfortable. However learning that some of the others rooms are not to the same standard so make sure you aren't one of the unlucky ones. As far as the pricing goes it's excellent value for money in comparison to other accommodation within the City and don't forget your situated right in the Centre of York. I would advise against drinking in the downstairs Pub, the drink are very poor, larger is horrendous with little choice overall, the TV's have Sport but the picture quality is extremely low. Overall I'd say this place is value for money and if you're on a budget you probably won't find a cheaper place for it's quality. Of course the pub could be better but if you're visiting York you definitely have more luxury options within the town to go visit.

Great rock'n roll themed pub close to the Barbican. Friendly, helpful bar staff, great food, (the burgers were delicious) and well kept beer. Only didn't give 5 stars because Black Sheep was off tap on the evening we went in.

Used to come here 25 years ago - its a shame - it needs something apart from a make over - its like stepping into another world way back

Great value, clean and tidy rooms. Very warm welcome and very friendly/helpful bar staff/management. Excellent drinks selection..... the Famous Grouse Scotch and Woods Dark Rum went down a treat with the pints. Fantastic meals ..... large, extremely tasty portions ..... cooked as requested (in my case, "well done"). A great place to relax. Ideally located for York attractions and on bus route to city centre/railway station. The best establishment I have encountered for Covid safety procedures ..... they could not have been more thorough.

Just had meal and drinks fresh cooked food absolutely fantastic .covid rules followed. Great place .5star

After many years of not going in this place my partner persuaded me to re visit the place. Nothing has changed still a rundown community pup . Walked in and walked out save your money and leave it to the locals

Greeted by a man at the door who was very friendly however the woman was extremely rude. Considering pubs have been closed for 3 months you would of thought that pub owners would be polite and friendly to try and regain business but in actual fact, the lady who spoke us was that rude we had to walk back out and I’m sure they will have lost a lot of business from this

Me the wife and some friends had a two night stay here on a weekend in York. The pub and staff were great, rooms were warm and clean. The bar is spot on and the pub itself location is just right.

Great night of Music with York band Melody Makers.Very Friendly pub. Have also had a meal there which is really great pub food with Chips like mum used to make .

Quite when we went in however server was nice and they have a fairly decent pool table which can be hard to find around the city
