Costa Coffee in York

Went for a coffee and snack. Asked for a warm bacon buttie. Lovely staff. Very pleasant. Very helpful. Surprisingly delicious bacon bap for a quick microwave in the bag job. I really enjoyed it. Fresh and very tender and very tasty shock horror. Great cappuccino. Only thing that spoiled things a little for me was the usual horrible sticky table surface that seems very dirty. I don't think it is dirty. I think it is the usual reaction of table cleaning liquid with table Polish surface. It often happens and even your phone sticks to the table and you have to put things like serviettes under it.

Tuesday 9th July 2024 Today, this pleasant, comfortable coffee house that is situated on York Railway station was visited by me Cosy seating arrangement good staff Easy going background music. The seating area was clean, and everything was in tick tock order Keep up the good work

This costa is a bit of a curiosity, located in an old wooden structure in the busy station. It's not spacious but it's uniqueness made it well worth a visit.

Popped in here after visited York minister.Food and drink was nice as usual from all the costs to be honest Service was very quick

It's a Costa like all the others. BUT IT HAS A VIEW OF TRAINS. Which makes it an amazing Costa!

A sea of tranquility amongst the bustle of York Station. Little did I know when ordering a Grande Latte there’d be no functioning toilet on the Northern 🚂 for the next 2 1/2 hours 😮‍💨

VERY unprofessional manager. Treated customers and workers very poorly and unprofessionally. Would not recommend going or working here.

It's Costa, you know what you get

The team including Mel, Charlie and Jo. ( I believe they were the names ) were just awesome !! Even though we just went in for a quick tea break the request to put the beverage in a double handled Costa mug, extra hot water and fresh milk on the side didn't phase any of them !! Hats of to you all !! From someone who used to work hospitality 💖

Excellent coffee, staff were very friendly and efficient, exactly what you need when rushing for a train. Really pleased and definitely above average for Costa.

Would have been nice to have had some real food to go with the sauces and spice.

It's in a railway station so what do you expect. Food items mislabeled.

The Costa Coffee on York station concourse is located on the staircase taking you over the railway tracks and you will not be able to enter if you cannot do stairs. I ordered a cup of tea and people who ordered after me were getting their drinks before me. Even complicated drinks. I asked the member of staff where my drink was. He asked what I ordered and quickly made it. He did apologise for the delay. Moral of the story - order a complicated, fancy coffee for prompt service.

We stopped off for drinks while shopping in York, I love the new Maple Hazel Hot Chocolate & Light Dairy Swirl, this is perfect for Autumn 😍 Staff were friendly and efficient.

Small location on York station which just didn't have the comfort or cosy feeling of the Costas I'm used to. The most disgusting thing was they only served drinks in paper cups, come on Costa sort it you've got a reputation to keep up

Disgusting attitude from young lady working at Costa said No seats closed only open for takeaway at 7pm test website states open till 8pm.. I totally agree need to wind down and clean but no need for rudeness attitude to paying customers !!!!! I work in hospitality and if any of my staff react like This young woman they would not continue employment no need what’s so ever !!!!

Chaotic. Dirty. Unpleasant. On a Monday, really don't think it should be so busy/understaffed that most tables weren't actually occupied, they were stacked high with used cups etc.

Great setting in the old signal box. Friendly staff working well together. Clean, pleasant surroundings. However the photo shown is not accurate as this Costa is at the top of 2 sets of steps with no outside tables that I could see.

Popped in for a quick reasonably priced cappuccino which was piping hot. Even tempted with cake which was just the right size.

Inside the old signal box on the footbridge over the tracks the Costa is in a marvellous position to avoid missing your train. they have rearranged the layout and it works a little better. The usual Costa choice. Those baristas have to work fast to cope with the takeaway queues but there is usually enough seating available for a drink and a snack before that train comes rumbling in.

My twin brother Stephen and I had just had a great day out in York and while waiting for our train back to Leeds we stopped by this Costa Coffee in the railway station. Typical Costa Coffee, busy as you would expect from a railway station location, we ordered a flat white coffee each, these were served steaming hot, we just kicked back and supped our coffee's while waiting for our train to arrive. My coffee was good,quite a big fan of Costa Coffee, coffee was consistent from the first sip till the last sup, a really good coffee which we enjoyed till our train arrived. Most definitely well worth checking out if you're in York Railway Station.

It's for Eboracum way but not on here.not a clue toast only done one side pen given out to write name sanitised it myself as none in shop.2 staff on drive through one on Caffè side.no wonder people stood queuing side by side.so much for covid procedures and toast is done on both sides never again

Being Tim Horton's fans we quickly adapted to this as our replacement. Very different style of coffee but definitely very good

Sadly the changes to the layout some time ago have given rise to poorer servuce. Tables seem more tightly packed. Today I drank in as I wasn't in a hurry but given a takeaway cup ...non recyclable. Up your game. This was a nice place to drink coffee, even though Costa is quite a bland blend, as nice views over the tracks and concourse.

Their coconut latte is fantastic and the serving areas are quite clean too. I keep going back for more.

Great cafe from Costa - with window seats that are great form my disabled son who is a railway/train fanatic! Beats sitton on the platform when it's freezing cold! Although up stairs, it had friendly staff on my visit - 2nd March - and the coffee food is Costa's usual fare!

As pictured, ordered a bacon and brie panini and paid £3.95 for it to find it contained less than 1 rasher of bacon..

Good customer service but there is a total lack of reusable cups plates etc. Even those sitting in have to either supply a reusable cup (not an issue at all) or use a disposable cup. Shows a complete lack of care for the environment. It's hard to miss the fact that single use packaging is in the headlines all over the world. If you have water and power, surely you can have a dishwasher like the rest of Costa coffee shops. Either provide "normal" cups or enforce the use of reusable coffee cups from customers. It's not difficult, you do it everywhere else Costa. I'm disgusted by this complete disregard for simple envirmental protection!

Clumsy me split an entire cup of coffee onto the floor on Friday 17th January at about 1230pm. The lady behind the counter (Laura?) quickly grabbed her mop and bucket, expertly sorting out my mess and sparing my blushes. She then gave me a replacement coffee free of charge, which I hardly deserved but very much appreciated. Thanks for your great service!

Pleasant premium hot and soft drinks

Not often I care enough to do review but York station is a treasure of English heritage and Costa Coffee need a boot up the bum for this disgraceful mess. Every surface covered in rubbish, tables not cleared. Every kitchen surface is smeared in grease marks. Coffee grounds everywhere and looks like nothing cleaned for weeks. Kitchen looks like a bomb hit it with no care or pride in its appearance. Cardboard boxers littered all over. So sad.

We popped in here after hearing our train had been delayed. First impressions were it was very tired and scruffy with 2 staff that looked like they didn't want to be there. Drinks were served in takeaway cups and no bin provided (See pic). It's ideally located so no doubt does plenty of business but not the image you would normally expect from Costa.

Excellent customer service and lovely clean venue. Tasty Xmas vegan range. Well recommended

We had just been into Pumpkin were we enjoyed a coffee and as our train was delayed we decided to enjoy a coffee in Costa Coffee. The Costa Coffee stand on Platform 9 was busy,we got a cappuccino coffee each,these were served steaming hot, we just sipped our coffee's and waited for our train. My coffee was really good, I enjoy the coffee served by Costa Coffee, a really nice brew,just what I needed to warm me up on quite a cold day. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here before we moved on to catch our train and we were totally impressed with this particular Costa Coffee. Easy to locate along Platform 9 ,York Train Station.

This is a great little cafe situated by the footbridge within an old office, it has good coffee and an excellent view of the station.

Visited on Tuesday 7th May whilst waiting for a connecting train. It was handy being located on the platform where my train was due to leave. Staff friendly and made a good cup of coffee to takeaway.

I enjoyed a Filter Coffee here before catching a train from York. Well worth a visit for a caffeine fix.

The Costa Coffee is located very close and walking distance from the Station in Blossom street, and adjacent to Hotel Premier INN south, where I had stayed. It is a very neat and nice cosy place to have leisurely drinks with your family. varieties of coffee is available. We Normally take cappucino or Flatwhite( coffee with Milk). it was very nice experience with those delicious pastries and sandwiches of all types

Nice staff, good coffee but the card machine is broken more often than you would expect on a morning, also the service can be pretty slow depending on who you get. I was in the queue for five minutes today and the barista was serving the same person the whole time. I wouldn't have minded usually except I was the only other person in the queue at the time.

Great wee costa coffee , not the biggest but the coffee shop is like a small glass hub, staff were nice enough, service was good, cappuccino was great

Served by Daniel He was very sweet, engaged in friendly and humourous chat. It was his first time making a mint choc chip cooler drink and I told him it was the first time I was trying it to put him at ease. It tasted the same as all the others I've had so brilliant fast thinking skills!! Will definitely return due to amazing customer service.

The guy who served me was nice and welcoming will definitely itly be my first choice in York station

Lovely cofee shop in a lovely area; inside York train station. Looks small but it fairly sizeable. My only trouble this visit was it was quite busy and there was only one server on. I wasnt in a rush, so it didnt bother me. One hot chocolate and one Americano to go and no problems. Only one small issue i could foresee was that where the milk, sugar etc is, there is a table next to it. A woman at the time had a laptop out; maybe not an ideal place for a table?

The best thing about Costa is the hot chocolate pay £5 it the best feeling in the world

I have been in this branch of Costa several times and find it a warm and cosy place in an exceedingly convenient location, right on the foot-bridge overlooking the rail lines. It gets extremely busu expecially at peak ytravel timnes and is hard to get into if you have heavy and large bags. Other than that, it is a welcoming cafe with good coffee and snacks.

The place to stop for a quick coffee whilst chilling for a train. Charming, small, raised coffee bar with great Costa taste!

Nice cappuccino but I like mine in a proper cup.

This was a quick stop for a Cappacino coffee. They were slow, not enough people working and they rushed through the orders, not taking the time that most other Costa shops do. Their bathroom didn't lock and we had to stand guard after we left our table. Was awkward. Will skip this one and do the one in town as it is soooo much better.

After visiting York we decided to stop for coffees before setting off on our journey home to Pickering. We had large Cappuchinos and blueberry muffins and biscotti biscuits. The coffees were huge, muffin was deliciously however the biscotti tasted stale and there was what looked like green mould on the side of one - unfortunately the one had already been eaten ! We complained and was given another packet which appeared to be better.

Great spot to sit and relax after a busy morning exploring the National Railway Museum. Usual Costa fayre. My coffee shop of choice!

Really bad hygine. This place has just been given a 1 star (out of 5) by the local environmental health inspectors forcing the place to shut down for a period for a deep clean. Its awaiting a refurb and it shows the whole place looks tired and ready for a good clean. Avoid.

Rather blunt with the customer service. Not what you would expect from Costa.

Costa is my favorite coffee shop in England. The coffee is always very good and they good pastries on offer and the price is reasonable.

A little early for our train so we called in for refreshments. My grandson went back to buy a cake and the serving young man was really friendly which was very much appreciated. We were served promptly and with care, and the cakes looked fresh and yummy.

I have just been in to grab a sarnie (at 6.45) before my train. Can't fault the sarnie or the length of service. However, staff appeared very mean and unwelcoming, constantly barking at customers that they had 10 minutes to leave and quite rudely telling new customers they were closed 5 minutes before they actually were. I worked in Costa for two years and 100% understand the frustration near closing time when customers come in or are difficult to budge! However I didn't find their tone of voice appropriate to those who were non the wiser about timing and were actually within their rights to order a coffee! I don't normally leave reviews but thought this particular issue should be mentioned.

They serve Costa Coffee and treats at "normal" prices - its open early morning to early evening - would be better if it opened a little later as after 8pm there is nothing open in the station later in the evening but still trains come and go! Staff were a bit hit and miss - put that down to being at the end of the day!

Always visit here when in the train station. The coconut hot chocolate is amazing. Service is usually very quick and staff are always friendly and helpful.

Called in on 11 Jan to fill some time in when waiting for my train - I’ve been here for the same reason on a few occasions. Quick, hassle free service - quite a cold building and tables are very close together. Conveniently placed though and a little nicer than using the kiosks on the platforms.

On my way back home from Nantwich, the train I took at Manchester to York had some delays, which resulted in the end with me missing my train to Newcastle and having to wait for an extra 20mins for the next one. So I went here and got a mocha, which did relax me and brought a bit of warmth (it was quite cold in the station)

Best position in York station, in the old signal box above WH Smith, to sit and watch trains go by and have a sandwich. Unfortunately, its one of those outlets that Costa have made ‘takeaway cups only’ so you can’t buy a real cup of coffee to drink-in. Don’t they realise that people don’t come in for the coffee – they come in for a nice place to pass time, read emails AND they also buy coffee. Costa might as well take a kiosk out on the platform and let another operator run a true coffee shop in this prime spot. It’s a real shame!

Excellent little Costa with friendly staff, very handily placed if you want to get something to eat or drink on the train (especially in the evening after most of the other catering outlets in the station have closed).

Arrived ten minutes before advertised closing time and was told they were already closed. They didn't seem bothered to tell us about the Costa kiosk that was open on the opposite platform. Went to Starbucks instead. Sent an email to Costa customer service because I was genuinely not impressed with attitude at the time.....still no reply.

Usual Costa coffee fare in a quaint setting.

We dropped in here for a coffee after our train journey from Scarborough with a longish wait ahead of the next stage to Birmingham. Not the tidiest place, but the flat whites were acceptable.

Beter dan de gemiddelde 'all you can eat' met een ruime keuze aan verschillende stijlen : japans (mini sushi), indisch (ruime, zeer goede keuze), noodles (ter plaatse samengesteld naar jou keuze), brits (klassiek met puree of gebakken aardappelen, erwten en gebraad), pizza (beperkt en niet waar je hier voor komt, prima als aanvulling) en een gigantisch dessertenbuffet (sla alleen het ijs over).

Do not go here if you're in a hurry, and my black coffee was just not great. So only Ok i'm afraid, wish I had waited to have it on the train as the taste would've been the same

Grabbed a quick takeaway coffee, I have to admit I like my coffee hot hot and I wasn't disappointed One of the hottest coffee I've had from any Costa

I visited today for coffee before getting my train home. The shop honestly looked really run down and dirty. The cupboards, tables and sides just really need a clean. I could have understood if the staff were busy but one was serving the few people in the shop, one was sat down and another hovering around.
