Well done to all the staff. I think they must have a good manager because they all work hard and are very pleasant . Food was excellent and we really enjoyed our visit. Why can't other cafes be as successful as this one seems to be.

We decided to join up together here for breakfast before we all hit the road home. After visiting Cumbria for my granddaughter's birthday, the places easy to find and has a stunning view over the sea. Looking at sea and cliffs whilst eating is beautiful. Even though the day was quite rainy and miserable, it didn't take anything away from the sites. There were six adults and two children and we all like different things. Wasn't happy that there was no latte available but apparently the machine was down, if you've got mobility problems you still have to go up a couple of steps. They're not really big but there is a couple of steps to get into the place, it is a cafe, one side and a shop as well and it even has an ice cream parlour attached. It's a lovely little place to visit even if it's just for a coffee

Had various items on 3 visits whilst staying nearby to visit family and friends, couldn't fault any of it. Friendly staff, good food, the best ice cream in the land (I'm originally local to this area so slightly biased!), very child and dog friendly. Breakfasts and lunch were first class and cooked to order so very fresh. Add on the views of the Irish Sea (it was wild while we were there!) and the stunning St Bees Head and you have a winning combination.

Really enjoyed good coffee and delicious homemade cakes served by friendly and helpful staff. Biker friendly with posters of Isle of Man TT races. Lovely views over beach.

Tasty bowl of veg soup, well needed on a rainy day in July! Scone, butter, jam & clotted cream - best scone I've ever had - lovely. Very reasonably priced. Nice views out on to the seafront. Staff very friendly & chatty.

My husband and I called today as we were in the area, we both had a full English breakfast with coffee for me an tea for hubby. The food was lovely and cooked well, we both really enjoyed it. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, all in all a great place, will be back when I'm the area again.

We came every day during our visit for coffee and cake and breakfast on our last day, the baking is really good , the shortbread with jam in between is to die for ,we even took 5 home with us !!! Also the Victoria sponge is one of the best I’ve had, the breakfast was decent too all served by nice friendly staff , views are fab with the waves rolling in , great place .

Whist visiting St Bees had coffee and cakes as a takeaway and sat on the many picnic tables. Very pleasant, cakes very fresh and good quality

Visited here, gorgeous views made it amazing. There was a sign saying wait here to be seated, we waited for 10 minutes but were then told to just take a seat anywhere. The food and drink we had was nice and fair priced, but the service was very slow and it wasn't busy. Th £1.50 sweet mixtures were awesome and very good value.

I’ve just paid £2.20 for a ‘coffee’ / a cheap tasting instant coffee. Upon asking if everything was Okay whilst paying the billI I queried the source of the coffee. I was told it was instant coffee, Nowhere on the menu are you told you are receiving cheap instant coffee for ‘coffee’. Apparently one has to ask for filter coffee, although it does not say this on the menu. Oh and no refund - for being totally ripped off. My card was taken swiftly for payment.

Best cafe in England. Visited the cafe for a second time from Singapore. Delicious food and wide selection, well cooked and served by the most polite and friendly staff you will find any-were . The cafe has a fantastic view and the prices are fair. Clean and hygienic with accessible toilets. I have been to hundreds of English cafes at this one is up at number one along with Sullivans in Penance.

Fabulous beach side cafe! Loved it in here! the views from the window are amazing of the sea and cliffs! We had a toasted sandwich which was delicious and the coffee was super tasty. The cakes looked fabulous but we were too full to get one! maybe next time! Thanks for a wonderful service.

Brilliant, yes we waited but this was all explained very politely, well done I had Scampi and chips, with salad and coleslaw £9.99, £6 cheaper that the high prices charged at Seacote next door. My granddaughter had Chicken nuggets and chips, with milk shake, £4.95 Everything was great, Seacote have lost another customer, Thumbs up to Hartleys Tea Room

Still shambolic service. The waiting staff are young and inexperienced. They are polite , charming , friendly and are full of potential. However they are clueless because they have not received any basic training whatsoever . And that is clearly obvious . There are several 1* reviews for the Beach Cafe St Bees and it is clear that the management have either not read them or taken no notice of them. My experience was exactly the same as those reviews. It’s a shame as this place has great views and a great location. With just a tiny bit of organisation big improvements could be made. I offer these suggestions in the spirit of a critical friend. 1. When seating customers take their drinks order at the same time. Instead of leaving them sitting their for about 10 minutes. 2. Put a small container containing condiments and sugar on the table instead of by the door . Save a lot of to-ing and fro-ing . Customers were asking “ have you got any ….salt, vinegar , sugar please . 3. The best time to provide cutlery is just after customers place their food order and not after the food has been served . Waiter then seemed surprised when customers asked for some cutlery. I could add more but don’t want to appear nitpicking . It’s the organisation and management that is unacceptable. The staff can easily be shown and trained to deliver good service. They are young people and are unaware of the standards expected. It’s up to the owners to set those standards but they don’t seem bothered. At the moment the standard , not the staff, is woeful and unacceptable. It is wrong to expect young people to work without training and support . A manager should be on the floor watching what’s going on and directing , supervising and most importantly supporting the young inexperienced staff. Set standards and achieve them. And if the owner reads this then please raise your standards to an acceptable level by simply giving some basic customer service training to your staff who were doing their best . You are letting them down. Unacceptable standards Food was ok no complaints

We stopped at the cafe when we were out for a walk with our dogs. From the minute we stepped in the cafe the staff were lovely, they were kind and helpful, they even got a bowl of water for our dogs. The food was excellent, the views spectacular, I couldn't recommend this lovely cafe enough. 5 stars from us.

Our visit for breakfast was a pleasant experience. The lady who took our order was friendly and understanding. One of us has a dairy intolerance, but wasn’t made to feel a burden. As there was no dairy free butter available we were offered fried bread at no extra cost. Breakfast was very tasty, and well priced.

We visited the cafe after a little trip out with our dog from Carlisle..we found the place very welcoming and dog friendly..staff served the dog with water before us which is a plus in my eyes..food was nice and cuppa nice and hot..highly recommend this place..can see it being extremely busy in summer months

We visited here when we went to the beach, I’m sure it will be very busy in the summer as it was busy in October We were seated quickly - the venue is right next to the car park £2:50 for a couple of hours - lots of spaces and close to the beach The views to the sea are lovely The tables were clean a little tight to squeeze past some but a walk around other tables avoided this and staff were friendly and prompt with the order. I just had the luxury hot chocolate which was delicious! A nice range of things on the menu from food to hot drinks

💕would come again, SIKE💞 food was crap, ordered ham sandwich with crisps, as well as a sausage and egg sandwich. The ham was yellow on the sides. Had this weird red dots, the bread was dry and stale as well as the crips they tasted like they had been like they were made in 1984. The sausage was spicy and it was a weird texture. It’s almost like it wasn’t sausage and egg. The egg is not too bad, probably the best part of the meal since I did pay £4.75 for that, the plate was too small, so I had to pile the sandwich on top of itself to eat it, I could barely pick up the sandwich because it just disassembled itself there was no butter in the sandwich, and the bread was dry, wasn’t even toasted. I could’ve gotten the same thing. Somewhere else. where it would’ve been goddamn toasted it and it would’ve been better and cheaper. as for the sandwich tasted like bum hole The sandwich was overpriced as it was £4 for a basic sandwich. That is a joke. Put your goddamn prices down or go out of business. 💕💕💕

Fantastic dinner and such friendly staff, dropped in twice while on a break to St Bees, we had coffee and scrumptious cakes and even a bowl of water for our dog.

Should have read previous review ! Decided to visit St Bees beach area on the basis that it is represented as "dog friendly" and nothing on the cafe's Facebook page to say otherwise. Arrived in driving rain and was looking forward to respite from the weather and a welcoming cappuccino only to be told we couldn't bring the dog in. Ended up getting a takeaway outside in the rain and drinking it in the car. Can't fault the takeaway service but it would have been nice to enjoy it inside!

Takeaway full breakfast served by friendly efficient staff. Excellent, tasty meal with cutlery and sauces provided £7 per head with lots of toast on the side. Top marks.

Came here for lunch after a morning on the beach. Had to wait for a while to order and then to collect food but it was busy so expected. Sandwiches ok, chips excellent and plentiful, children’s lunch boxes good value and nothing went to waste. Think it’s reasonably priced considering there aren’t any other options in the immediate vicinity!

I recently came to grab a coffee in my reusable cup on the go. However my coffee made was extremely hot, almost boiling scalding water. No milk should ever be that hot for a coffee! I accidentally left my cap ooen and spilt it down my leg, and if this was a normal temp for a coffee, it would of no where near made such a horrid burn on my leg, i have now had 2 redressing on my burn which could of been life threatening if infected. I suggest getting a machine for the coffees or train staff on how to make a proper hot drink!

Went during a lovely to beach trip to St. Bees to get 2 cups of tea and some crisps! Not queuing for long and brilliant service!!! Would highly recommend

I visited the cafe for a festive afternoon tea with work and it was amazing! The homemade food was outstanding with all the festive trimmings, table decorations, crackers and of corse a good cuppa which made this local beachside cafe far from ordinary. The staff were also so accommodating going above and beyond to make sure we were all happy with plenty of food and drink even-though we did arrive a little later than planned, sorry guys! I will most certainly be visiting the cafe again for some more great hospitals, delicious food and of corse the stunning beachside views. Thanks again for a super staff outing.

Come here quite a bit after a nice walk along the beach. Staff are always friendly helpful and welcoming. Nice variety of food available on menu. Breakfasts are always good and don't have long to wait. They also have a varied selection of home baked tray bakes and cakes. Soup is always delicious too. There is a hand rail by the steps to help with access but if restricted mobilty might find it difficult getting into the building.

From the outside, it does not look very promising. But, once you enter, the first thing you notice, is how spacious it is. A large Cafe, and Gift Shop. Prices are very reasonable, and a good selection, and the bonus is the location, right next to the sea. Bonus for the kids is a very good playpark, the other side of the Pay & Display, Car Park.

After our beach walk we were cold and a bit peckish, plus hubby needed the loo. It made sense to go to the cafe right in between the beach and the car park. If I am being honest, I didn't expect much as the outside looks pretty dated.I liked the bowl of water outside the door, I'm sure it gets plenty of takers given how many dogs were on the beach! So in we go. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior, firstly it was much bigger than I thought it would be and it didn't have that greasy cafe smell you can sometimes get.Hubby headed to the loo, I ordered the coffees. They have a good coffee menu, with a choice of cups or mugs. I decided on two mugs of cappuccino and, as I couldn't tear my eyes away from the huge millionaires shortbreads calling my name, my choice was obvious. I managed to get a table in front of the window looking out onto the beach and sea. The tables were covered in a beach hut/seaside theme, matching the window dressing. This added to the overall effect which was lovely. Everything was spotless. A perfect example of this was the silk daffodils on the table. Fabric flowers show any dirt up & can make a place look tatty. Not so here. The shortbread was lovely as were the coffees. It was very busy but they really were moving the queue. The table next to us ordered hot food and it looked amazing.I used the loo, it was very clean.. I found the staff to be really nice & helpful.The also have a gift shop that was popular & well stocked. I'm glad we went in.
