Harry's Fish n' Chips in Waltham Forest

Although staff are lovely and shop spotless. Chips are always horrible but thought I would give it a try tonight! Got the ribs and chips for £12.50 the ribs had a horrible smell and the taste was nasty! Went straight in the bin. Even my son didn’t want them and he will eat anything. Really disappointing. No dinner for me!!

We always order a large haddock to have between two people and Harry Junior, cooks up two small ones, which is just perfect. Curry sauce and mushy peas are on point, don’t give the southern fried chicken pieces amiss either they’re delicious.

Harry's is a lovely fish and chips shop, always so fresh and tasty. It's a family run shop with a real friendly atmosphere. Excellent choice of food and great price. Highly recommended the cod and chips, cod is suculant and batter is perfectly cooked.

Used Harry's for a an event and placed an order of over 50 meals for a Friday night. Great communication from Oz who was really accommodating and managed my expectations well. Food was delivered hot and fresh, by two super friendly staff who also helped me with handing it all out. Really pleased with service and food and would definitely use again.

Have been craving fish and chips of late and went here today. The smell wafting down the street was wonderful. We were able to get a lunchtime special of fish and chips for £7.50. It was moreish and really we cooked. Would highly recommend. Staff were polite and helpful and was given a loyalty card. Also brought some curry sauce which very tasty too. Gravy is available as well. Really well stocked fridge of cold drinks. There is literally something for everyone. We were able to sit inside at a table and eat our take-away and given wooden cutlery, a paper napkin and a wet wipe too. Will definitely be going back.

I'm usually extremely picky and the slightest thing can put me off when it comes to food. But I have been to Harry's plenty of times and I can most certainly say that it is the most clean and delicious fish n chips I have been to in such a long time! The staff are very welcoming and friendly as well. I highly recommend this place - defo worth a visit & you will be going again & again (especially for the ribs) !!

Worst take away ever! Paid for curry sauce we never got, worst vegetable spring rolls ever and battered fish that is more oil and batter than fish. Would not recommend at all

Welcoming and friendly staff, excellent service. The food was exactly what you want when deciding on fish and chips. The chips were perfectly cooked and the fish was big and crispy! My 3 year old son even got a lolly! Would highly recommend

Requested 2 large cod to be freshly fried as prepared to wait. Result was very disappointing - 2 large looking fish but mostly hard batter with tiny dryed-up fish inside. Not what I paid a premium price for and makes me think I'll look for another fish bar even if its further away. This bar has a quality promise - do the staff know ? Great haddock and chips at just the right portion size and cooked fresh just for me.

Everytime I go here they mess an order up, even if you call 15mins before for collection your still kept waiting.

Local style east end fish and chips plus other foods ie chicken. Friendly staff and clean environment.

Really expensive and they serve little cod even do you ask for a regular and poor customer service and over priced. The chips are bad and the fish is soggy and the chicken does not even have taste.

£6 for a small cod and chips and I asked for regular I think they scammed me because while they where doing it I went to co op

After the Empire fish bar on Sewardstone Road closed, we have been looking for a good fish and chip shop. Tonight we tried Harry's on Chingford Hatch, what a Mistake, the fish batter was so soggy with no crisp that it was barely edible, full of grease and chewy. The chips were OK, hence why we have given one star. Will be avoiding in the future and the search continues.

Rack of ribs were very tough and chips were more bits than chips.

Soon to be leaving Chingford and Harry’s is one of few places I’ll actually miss ..... good quality fish and chips. Their regular chip portion is actually quite big and are big enough to share for 2. If you want haddock, it’s worth calling ahead so they can start cooking as they don’t often have haddock waiting in the counter. The only problem is the lack of parking. the Hatch is a pain for parking, and often congested at peak eating times.

I just ordered a large cod, small chips, mushy peas and curry sauce + salt and vinegar. It feeds 2 comfortably. By far the best fish and chips I have eaten in 20 years. What a superb fish and chip stop on my doorstep. A very very special treat for me and they nailed it.. thank you

I used to go to different fish and chips around in chingford, which evers closest to me at that present time. until I tried harrys fish n chips, everything I've eaten here has been great. especially best skate, ribs and chips in town. to top it off the service is great, I've seen them always engage with every customer. really clean place you can see hygiene is important.

Went here again last night, I drive from Buckhurst Hill... Easily the best fish and chips around. Staff always ask how which is nice and the fish and chips are spot on.

Since it's changed hands the food is disgusting. Old overcooked and not 100% sure it's cod. Been getting from there for years not anymore and suggest nobody else does.....extremely poor!

Since changing from Fish'n'Chickn to the present owners food quality is good. Staff very helpful and friendly, and the interior is clean. I have been going there since the new owners took over never been dissapointed.

Oh my Cod! Delightful, just finished my fish and chips and I loved them. Lovely crispy batter and hot chips. I've been here a few times and they are always frying, not matter the day or time, so you know it is fresh and will be hot. All served up with friendly banter and a side order of smiles.

Used to be a regular, but quality of food very poor now. Bought cod and chips a month back, cod had dried out and tough and chewy, chips were old and dried up, threw it all away. Thought it was a one off, tried again and exactly the same dried out cod, cool shriveled chips, never going back.

Food was nice until I found a bit of Brillo pad or scoured in my curry sauce also best chicken ever

I thought I'd give it another go as I've not been pleased with the service or quality in the past, but thought the name change might mean different people. Unfortunately the same woman served me and I didn't get what I'd asked for. The savaloy was missing and the chips were cold they must have been there all afternoon. won't be going again.

Ok im a northerner so im used to quality fish and chips, but this shop should be avoided at all costs Dry chips, expensive but poor quality fish, and the customer service is appalling. I do not expect to pay through the nose to be abused and talked down to by snotty teenage staff I went in there recently and asked for chips and a battered sausage. Very clearly. Zoe (a very unhappy and sulky sales assistant) proceeded to charge me for a fish as well (extortionately priced fish at that!) and when I politely told her that I did not ask for fish she replied 'im pretty sure that you did' I was gobsmacked but politely ignored her rudeness. She then realised she doesnt know how to use the till so went to her colleague out back and i overheard her insulting me and calling me an expletive. They both came through to the front of the shop, where the early twenties spotty male had a go at her for messing up the till, cast a rude look in my direction and then stormed off back to the rear of the shop Zoe was rude throughout and is the reason I will not shop at this store again. Poor quality food is one thing, but charged extortionately and with the rudest service imaginable? Thats simply too much to bear.
