The Village Kitchen in Waltham Forest

Most of the food wasn’t available. Very disappointed with the eventual meal. Used to be good and still dining out on past efforts, by different owners. Give it a swerve and fine a better place, rather then risk the dissatisfaction.

Lástima que este solía ser un gran restaurante local. Llegamos a las 6. 00 , sólo se ocupó otra mesa. Esperábamos mucho tiempo a que el camarero nos preguntara si queríamos beber algo. Mi amigo preguntó por Tango pero se habían agotado. El menú es muy corto, pero eso no es un problema, ya que parecía haber suficientes opciones. Sin embargo, pedimos el pato y el filete y ninguno de los dos estaban disponibles. El camarero dijo que estaban ocupados antes y no les quedaba nada. Pedimos pan de ajo para empezar y luego pappardelle de hongos y 2 hamburguesas. Cuando llegó el pan de ajo era una rebanada de tostada integral fría con un poco de aceite y hierbas. Hablamos con el dueño y dijo que lo cambiaría - trajo de vuelta una rebanada similar de pan, solo un poco más caliente! La pasta de champiñones eran unos champiñones de botón picados y calentados en crema. Los hongos no estaban realmente cocinados. ¡Esto fue £17! Las hamburguesas estaban bien, pero sin duda nada especial para el precio. El propietario salió a la tienda local un par de veces (para comprar una botella de mayonesa para nuestra mesa y un poco de pan para otra mesa) - parecía que tenían muy limitado stock en la cocina. Realmente es una pena ya que este solía ser un restaurante realmente encantador, pero se siente como si ya no hubiera cuidado allí.

Extremadamente decepcionante, los únicos elementos del menú fueron hamburguesa, risotto o pasta lingüística. ¿Qué ha pasado con el filete, pollo, pescado y pastel que han estado previamente en el menú? Uno pensaría que con los restaurantes cercanos cerrando harían más esfuerzo. No nos molestamos en desperdiciar nuestro dinero, fuimos por una deliciosa comida en Uffizzi en su lugar.

Reservamos una mesa @ 7. 30 el camarero se sorprendió mucho cuando entramos , diciéndonos la cocina cerrada @ 9 pm 🤷‍♀️ Pedí una botella de rojo y vidrio de blanco. ¡Dijeron que no tenían vino tinto ya que el chef lo había usado para cocinar! Bebió cerveza, vino blanco y Prosecco. Pedimos un curso cada uno ya que teníamos la sensación de que esto iba a salir mal, una mesa de 8 ya había salido! 3 grandes redes y 2 platos pequeños pidiendo que se sirvan todos juntos. Sí, adivinaste 2 platos pequeños y nada más. El resto de la red se entregó alrededor de las 8. 50 . 9 pm llegó y vimos 3 empleados de cocina salir. Había 1 mesa más ocupada en el restaurante que pidieron vino blanco y solo quedaba una botella . . no hay opción ... se negaron a pagar y se fueron Comimos la comida que nos habían dado... comestible pero nada especial... ¡la lingüina de mariscos era espagueti! ¿Entonces para colmo toda la máquina de tarjetas como no cargada? ¿En serio? Pedimos transferir bancariamente el pago En general no es una buena experiencia y todo muy extraño. Obviamente cambió de manos desde nuestra última visita.

Puedo contar con una mano el número de veces que he salido de un restaurante, y esta tristemente fue una de ellas. He comido aquí en varias ocasiones a lo largo de los años, y tuve una buena experiencia, pero en primer lugar se pospuso por el intervalo de 1 hora y media asignado para una reserva. Ni siquiera habíamos tenido nuestro plato principal mucho más de 1 hora y 40 minutos después. Mi esposa y yo llegamos antes de nuestra franja de 7. 30 pm para ser agitado en dirección a nuestra mesa por el camarero. Podríamos haber sabido que era auspicioso, ya que el número de la mesa era 13 situado bang al lado de la cocina y un armario de servicio. Uno de los propietarios vino con menús y ofreció agua que nunca apareció hasta que lo solicité más de 20 minutos después cuando nuestro pedido fue finalmente tomado, pero las ofertas especiales no se nos mostraron. El invitado en la mesa de al lado ofreció su jarra de agua que era agradable antes. Pasaron más de 30 minutos cuando los entrantes llegaron justo después de nuestras bebidas. Mientras esperaba, noté que había algo en el vaso de agua que había sido traído - ni una jarra, un vaso. Mi esposa también notó que el vidrio estaba marcado o un poco sucio. Le pedí al mismo camarero que me trajera otra copa y señalé el problema. Su modales eran como antes. En este punto, me había hartado de la espera observando que nuestro espacio de 1 hora y media era fantasía. Habíamos decidido comer e irnos y dejar de cobrar el servicio, pero la actitud del camarero me inclinó a aceptar con mi esposa irme. Había pasado 9 pm en esta etapa y a pesar de un par de cheques - ins de uno de los propietarios, nos levantamos para ir diciendo que habíamos esperado demasiado tiempo y se quejó del camarero y moreso el retraso El propietario respondió que lo sentían terriblemente, el camarero no se suponía que estaba de servicio y su inglés no era muy bueno. Respondí que eso no era excusa para malos modales. El otro dueño vino a decir que nuestra comida ya estaba lista, pero yo dije que nuestra noche se había estropeado y no queríamos comer. Dijo que tenían muchos invitados a la vez y eran cortos en la cocina. Todo esto es franela: tienen un sistema de reservas y franjas horarias ( 1 1/2 horas apenas hace para la familiaridad. El ambiente era cero escondido en la peor mesa del lugar. También había hablado antes de eso en el QT con otra pareja que confirmó que también habían tenido que esperar años para su comida. Puedo soportar retrasos si nos mantienen informados, pero no malos modales ni gestión ineficiente. Un espectáculo realmente pobre. Hay una diferencia entre ocupado y caos.

10 years as a trip advisor member, never written a restaurant review before. But boy oh boy, give this place a swerve if you know what's good for you. Long story short: "bottle of house red please" Sorry, no house red. We will give you Merlot for the same price (cool) "Prawns and halloumi for starter, 2 jerk chicken for main please" (5 minutes later, waitress returns.) We don’t have those prawns, but you can have the garlic ones. We don’t have the jerk chicken, lasagne, pie or gnocchi (essentially reducing their menu by 35-40%, it’s not massive, so we order burgers, not exactly date night food, but what can you do…..) 20 minutes later, burgers arrive “Errr, we did order starters” Oh sorry (at this point we could tell what a clown show this was going to be, so cancelled the starters. Chips were also underdone) As we’re finishing the wine, about to leave, couple next to us begin to order. Had to reorder drinks (they didn’t have it) Had to reorder their main (didn’t have it), so lady orders a ribeye steak (£28) No way we’re ordering dessert at this place, so leave and head to supermarket next door. Who comes sprinting in not 2 minutes later? Our waitress, purchaing………………… ribeye steak. Think it was about £5. Give this circus a miss and head to Orford Tapas up the road.

Stumbled across The Kitchen whilst exploring The Village - great little gem in the perfect location. Good menu choices with some gluten free options for reasonable prices. Service was a little slow but staff were friendly. Would visit again.

Started badly as menu listed outside is totally different to the one inside. I wanted to get the jerk chicken advertised outside but was told they did not do that on a Tuesday. Many of the item I wanted from the outside menu were not available as certain dished are only done on certain days(did not see this mentioned outside , unless somewhere in small print.Service was very poor , we only ordered mains and were the first to order in the restaurant (only one other couple in the restaurant). However as the other table ordered after us and ended up getting served loads of tapas dishes before us. Took 40 minute for our food to arrive. Only one person serving and looked as only one working in the kitchen. Service poor although the girl was very polite . Although it took long to get served , the food was nice. Cannot see us returning . When we left there were only 2 others arrived . Did not look good that only 6 in total were in the restaurant while we were there.

We were served doughnuts with hot syrup inside, it burnt my fingers and when we tried to raise it with management, I was literally laughed at. The manager in charge insinuated that we were making it up and at the end she brought me a burns pack, but she was laughing at me. She had a very snide, sarcastic manner. My friends and I were in shock. I would strongly advise against giving this place any business,

We booked to have our Christmas dinner at the Kitchen, it was also a family celebration for my Mum’s birthday. It was a disaster from start to finish. We arrived on time, but were asked to leave and come back 45 minutes later as they weren’t ready for us. Considering we had a number of children in our group, this was far less than ideal. No where was open and it was raining, but we made the best of it. When we returned, they were still not ready, moving tables around (with guests already sat at them, trying to enjoy their meals). When moving the tables, they hit into both my Mum and I, with no apology. Restaurant setting - We were a large table, but had booked and expected to be sat together, instead we were spread across 3 tables. We were in the back room of the restaurant, with the kitchen door swinging constantly, and waiting staff coming through with dishes for the other room, there was no space at all. The lighting was also awful, it was not a nice ambience for a relaxing, enjoyable Christmas meal. Food - Despite us being made to wait on our booked time, we then waited for a long time for drinks and the starters to arrive. When the starters came, I became even more disappointed. Most of us had prawn cocktail, it was the worst prawn cocktail I have ever seen. A couple (I had about 4) of tiny prawns, lettuce saturated in sauce, all arriving at different times. Some people received their starters once everyone else had finished and others not at all. As starters were still being finished, some desserts were brought out - before the mains! This happened on a number of occasions. The main courses arrived in an equally chaotic way, I had turkey, which was dry, cold and not enjoyable. They were not consistent at all, with vegetables differing between the dishes. By this point my 18 month old son had enough, he was very hungry and likely not enjoying the chaotic environment. My husband had to take him home, my husband had not eaten anything! Everyone’s dishes came out at different times. No ones food was very enjoyable. The steak was particularly grisly and hadn’t been rested. By the time the mains were cleared, we’d had enough so decided to skip the desserts and leave. Customer service - Two of the waiting staff were friendly and helpful but limited in what they could do to make the experience much better. One of the managers was extremely rude and we’re weren’t offered an apology for any of this situation. On deciding to skip the dessert, we asked for some money to be reduced from the bill and it was. But in reality, this restaurant ruined our Christmas Day and my Mum’s 60th birthday - we ended up paying £90 per adult and £22 per child (due to deposits taken when the booking was made). This was much more than was deserved for what we were given. Overall - The entire experience was farcical. For a Christmas dinner meal out, I had expected so much more. The restaurant setting, food and customer service was all terrible. I would avoid at all costs!

We came here for our Christmas Dinner, it was an absolute shambles from the start, we had to wait outside for nearly an hour as they weren't ready for us, this was the first time they were unapologetic. Once seated every single meal came out at different times after waiting nearly an hour for the starters, my son didn't even get his. Every time we complained we were met with an arrogant response it was like we were supposed to be thankful for the absolute nightmare we were presented with. No one ate their dinners at the same time it was supposed to take the stress out of Christmas day it didn't. Children were left waiting for food for 1.5 hours. I cant express enough the arrogant nature one of the owners had towards us, it felt like he enjoyed how bad our experience was. I would avoid at all costs

We had a meal here tonight. The service was very pleasant and lovely but a bit slow (seemed like there wasn’t enough staff on). We waited an hour for starters and then another 30 for mains, which we didn’t mind. But then when a friend ordered some mini doughnuts for dessert, she picked one up to have scalding syrup shoot all over her fingers. Looking closer, the doughnuts were over cooked and dangerously hot. We tried to get some ice and raise to the manager. When we came to pay the bill another friend queried whether they should remove the dessert from the bill. The manager then came over and dealt with it horribly - insulating that our friend was faking the injury and asking why we’d eaten more of the doughnuts (after they had cooled). Our friend’s fingers did end up blistering, but that really wasn’t the issue. It was the fact that the manager dealt with it so horribly, and there didn’t seem to be any other senior oversight. It’s a shame as this restaurant used to be really good but we couldn’t go back, given how the issue was dealt with. I would just urge anyone with kids to be careful going here as if our friend had put the dessert straight in her mouth it would have been really awful.

Not GF aware. I asked when I arrived at the restaurant if the roast dinner could be made gluten free and was told by the waitress that it could be. When ordering (with a different waiter) I was then told it couldn’t be. I asked him to double check and he asked his manager and he came back and said it was in fact possible. When the roast arrived, the waitress didn’t seem to know which roast was gluten free, and had to go back and check with the chef. She assured me the one I was given was gluten free. Upon eating the roast, I had a suspicion that the Yorkshire pudding was not GF, so asked the waitress to check again. She went away and asked the chef and came back and said that it in fact wasn’t gluten free. The waitress did apologise at the time. At the end of the meal, we asked for a reduction in our meal cost due to the service. The waiter asked the manager who came to speak to us and was quite confrontational, saying he wasn’t going to reduce the bill “just for a Yorkshire pudding”. We settled on removing the service charge, but I did feel the manager’s customer service skills (and staff knowledge of gluten intolerance) was poor.

Lovely food, was really well flavoured and I thought they were fab portions sizes at a really good value. Coffees arrived after the food came so they might have benefited from being on having more than 1 person behind the bar. The waitress who served us was really kind and the owners seem lovely

I’m so impressed with the food quality here. The veg was so fresh and yummy. We went for breakfast and an evening meal on separate days and we were very happy with our meals. The staff are absolutely lovely and you can tell care has gone into the making of the food. Creds to the chef! Ps - ignore the tomato on the duck meal it’s from my boyfriends plate.

Expected something much better considering this restaurant’s rating. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is good but our food left a lot to be desired. On the full breakfast the hash browns weren’t cooked, in fact they were still frozen!, on another dish the fruit pancakes were burnt, both relatively basic items which are easy to prepare. We returned both the hash browns and pancakes and the second lot of pancakes were still overcooked, they eventually cooked a new batch, better but still not perfect. I personally ordered Eggs Royal and were disappointed as the dish contained spinach, surely that’s Eggs Florentine! Brunch cocktails were nice but overall a disjointed meal, dishes being returned etc. which left us overall feeling somewhat dissatisfied.

Great relaxed vibe with music.Table booked inside but as the Sun shone we were able to sit outside. Food delicious with friendly and professional staff,will definitely be back again.

I’ve been here lots of times. I really want to love it as the owners are lovely but the food and service is so hit and miss. Food recently been really bad, the wraps there have zero seasoning and taste like nothing, we had to send it back as no sauce in it and they apologised and returned it with unseasoned avocado in it. Terrible Was there recently with my family and 2 dishes were fully forgotten and had to be refunded, chicken thighs burnt to a crisp and several dishes came when half of us were already finished eating. Given and paid the wrong bill as well. Staff recently all over the place with a really flustered head female waiter. Sorry but my partner won’t let us return as just can’t take the chance of a bad lunch/brunch again. Shame as I always root for this place.

I went with my daughter for brunch for the first time. We had a table booked for 11am. We ordered veggie breakfast, smash avocado with poached egg on sourdough toast, cheese and chilly toast, 1 chai latte and tea. Did not hzve to wait too long once order was placed. All thd food was really tasty but was disappointed with both the toast with the smashed avocado and cheese and chilly toast was quite burnt on the underside and found it hard to cut. It was quite busy so i didn't complain . The first teapot only had 1 cup of tea, ordered a 2nd which was enough for two cups. Paid just over £40. A bit pricey for what we got. Would try again as the the taste was great but no burnt toast please.

Level of service is variable, and I find it to be considerably worse when the owners (who are lovely) aren’t there. It can feel, as it did at lunch today, that the guests are an inconvenience to the staff. Our food arrived an hour after we sat down (we ordered 10 mins after being seated.) By the time it got to the table, one of our group had to leave, and had to take lunch to go. The waitress didn’t seem bothered by the timing and didn’t apologise, so we didn’t see the value in pointing out some of the food was overcooked or burnt.

We visited today and were initially delighted to get a table. However when sitting down we accidentally tipped over the flower vase. We moved items and cleaned however the waitress told us off for moving the vase and salt and pepper to the empty table next to us, in her words - she would now have to clean it. Needless to say we left for fear of what else she might say or do.

Wow loved it what a superb way to spend your Sunday, beautiful meal lovey staff extremely reasonable priced. Love Alex.

Very friendly service and decent, fairly priced drinks - it would have been nice to be able to buy nn accompanying cake.

I cannot fault the meal I have just had at the Kitchen. We sat outside for a couple of drinks first and then ate inside. Food great, staff great. What's not to like.

This restaurant is a real gem. The food is delicious and really good value for money. The menu is a selection of small plates, which are actually a decent size, and every dish sounded so mouth-watering we had trouble choosing. We opted for 3, one each and one to share, and each one was perfection. Add to that good wine, lovely staff, a really nice space and good music and you get a perfect lunch!

Our starters (calamari for my wife and ravioli for me ) were both very good. But the main courses were a real disappointment; my wife’s Lamb Shank was completely cold when it arrived so got sent back. My katsu curry had very poor flavouring; not a sign of any coconut. The lamb shank was drowned in gravy.Overall very poor.

I'm a fan of this place and we've gone many times . This time though it just wasn't great. Very limited vegetarian options for main courses and really overpriced veg small plates. The service was really chaotic, and the staff not particularly helpful or friendly. The starters took ages to arrive, when the mains arrived we got 3 and then had to wait several minutes for the 4th, we got items we didn't order and didn't get a round of drinks we did order. We were sitting near the kitchen which seemed chaotic too, not ideal when it's quite visible and it made for an unrelaxing experience. At one point after our mains we were asked if we wanted anything else, I said I'd like another glass of wine and rather than asking if anyone else wanted anything or checking what size and type of wine I wanted, I just got a glass delivered. I've had good service there before and the 2 guys who run it seem great, I think it was having a bad day, maybe the staff were unexperienced- I'd go back on the basis of previous good evenings there.

Had a roast dinner here last sunday, was the best roast I've had in london and I've been here 6 years

When we arrived, we were told that there were at least 4 dishes not available. This was disappointing as it’s a relatively small menu which meant options were quite limited. Four of us shared a sharing platter, which took a very long time to come out. The jerk chicken skewers were quite dry. Two of us ordered the Thai green curry I would not recommend this, the other two tried the green curry and we were all in agreement that is was very acidic. When the waitress asked if everything was ok, I said the green curry was not nice it was very acidic, she said sorry about that and left. Neither of us had finished our curry which was over priced and actually quite gross, it was a shame that nothing was done about this, maybe a dessert could have been offered or money off the bill considering we clearly hadn’t enjoyed it as neither of us had eaten the curry, I would of mentioned it to her before the end of the meal except we didn’t see a waiter or waitress during the whole meal. The other two had fish and a burger which they agreed was quite nice and they enjoyed. It is a lovely location, we sat outside and there was a cello player which was really lovely. I moved here recently and was hoping to make this a regular dinner hang out, however it certainly wouldn’t be my first choice again, maybe just drinks and nibbles, it is in a good location.

We booked a table for 5 for Saturday night. We arrived to be told the table we have is out the back but next to a bit of a mess. We said that was ok, but it really was a mess. Chairs stack up, pieces of wood against the wall, high chairs etc. The kitchen looked very chaotic and unclean. The waiter came up to us, but we were all shocked at his appearance as he certainly did not look like someone who worked in a restaurant he was dressed in some kind of tracksuit, and was quite curt in his manner. He did not looked liked someone who worked there. We ordered drinks and the other female waitress was very nice and was trying her best as it was very busy. The food was ok, but not worth the price. We were looking forward to this evening as it has been a while for everyone. We will not be rushing back anytime soon.

We’ve been wandering past the kitchen for the past couple of months and kept meaning to pop in, last night we finally made it! Fab vibe, and super welcoming, feels Mediterranean, especially with the outdoor seating. Staff were amazing, polite and attentive despite being very busy. We had duck and pork for mains. No photos as we were too busy eating! Nice portions. Great choice of wine. There’s more on the menu that we want to try, so we’ll be back! So glad we finally visited

My partner had booked a table for three at The Kitchen to celebrate his best friend arriving back in England and being able to share a meal together for the first time in 14 months. We had heard such great things about the restaurant and always loved the atmosphere when walking past.The service was fine, the young lady serving us did put her fingers inside my cocktail glass when handing it to me but she had such a good vibe that I didn't care.We ordered a couple of small plates and three large plates, the seafood linguine with tomato sauce. I cannot quite express how bad this dish was. The prawns were barely cooked. They were floppy and flavourless. The salmon was seemingly smoked(?) and yet overcooked. I've never come across "calamari" that is not in rings before, but it was so awful that I had to spit it out. The tomato sauce was almost certainly from a packet , it had no flavour whatsoever and the parmesan was not fresh but powdered. The worst part of all however, the part that could have been the saving grace and made the rest of the dish forgivable, was the linguine. I was instantly taken back to school days, where the pasta was so soft and limp that it simply disintegrated in your mouth. I had wanted to complain and to ask for another dish, but the guys were so hungry and also didn't want to create a bad atmosphere for our first meal together again.The unbelievable part of this is that the dish cost something like £18.50, unbelievable.Needless to say, I don't think we will be returning.

I love this restaurant for the simple fact that you feel like you are going to a friend’s place. The staff are so friendly, the owners and chef are amazing and the food and service excellent.This morning I took a friend there for brunch to celebrate her birthday and we both enjoyed it very much - best smashed avocado with poached egg on sourdough I’ve had in a while and amazing espresso martinis!

We were really looking forward to visiting our local restaurant post lockdown for Sunday brunch but were very sadly disappointed. The restaurant was heaving when we arrived which wasn't surprising considering the nice weather but it was clear that the staff were overwhelmed and struggling with the amount of customers turning up. This unfortunately affected the service and standard of food that we had received. The mocha's we received were not very warm and we could not taste the chocolate. We then had to wait a long time for our brunch meals that we ordered (roughly an hour). Whilst we were understanding due to how busy the restaurant was, it appeared that they had forgotten us when people who ordered after us was receiving their meals. After finally chasing our meals up with the waiter, I then received the wrong meal which had to be taken back. We also had no cutlery which meant my partner was unable to eat his breakfast and it started to go cold. When we did finally get round to eating our food it was quite disappointing. The breakfast my partner ordered was nothing special for the price and it was fairly cold (after waiting for the cutlery to arrive). When my breakfast did arrive (the eggs benedict) it was clear it was rushed out. Whilst I don't mind a runny egg it was clear that the egg had only been poached for a couple of minutes and was way too runny. Whilst we hate to criticise a local business and have supported the restaurant during lockdown by ordering their takeaway roasts, we do feel that their standards have slipped a little lately. I feel that they are trying to do too much for a small business and it is affecting the quality of the food and service. For instance, I didn't feel that dishes such as risotto/burgers are really needed on a brunch menu. Particularly as they were also serving roasts that day. Due to this I won't be rushing back anytime soon as the quality of the food is not currently justifying the price point.

We had a table outside and were warmly welcomed by staff. Service was prompt. Sunday Roast (Lamb and Pork Belly) was fabulous; generous and very tasty. We'll be back!

We ventured out to Walthamstow village without expecting to get a table just for a drink. However we had a really good welcome and a table was conjured up for us.We could not have felt more welcome. It is so nice to feel like a friend not a customer. The boys have got it spot on.

Thankyou to Billie and the team for accomidating us during their busy time. This was my first time here and for sure I will be coming back. If you need cheering up and a lovely experience, this is the place for you. Rose & Danielle

Superb Sunday lunch. Table for 5, great service and good choice. The food felt home cooked and was delicious. We all had a roast, which was a good sized portion and shared desserts. The wine choice Is good and reasonable priced . Thoroughly recommend.

Mi segunda vez en The Kitchen y, de nuevo, ¡no me decepcionó! La primera vez que comí la ensalada de halloumi y granada, ayer comí el asado.La ensalada era una porción grande, de gran sabor y perfecta para el clima de verano que tuvimos hace unas semanas.El asado. . . ¿Bien, qué puedo decir? ! Siempre me preocupa si va a ser tan bueno como uno casero, pero en este caso, ¡no debería haberme preocupado! ¡Yorkshire era enorme! La salsa tenía un sabor increíble. ¡También pedimos el queso de coliflor y eso fue inmenso! !El personal es siempre amable y los propietarios suelen estar en el lugar, profundizando con su equipo y dando la bienvenida a sus clientes habituales.Acabo de ver algunas de las otras críticas y espero que las personas que no tuvieron la mejor experiencia regresen nuevamente, ¡vale la pena!

Nuestra primera visita aquí hoy, para el almuerzo del domingo. La comida era excelente, rosbif para mi esposa y un delicioso linguini de mariscos para mí. El servicio de todo el amable personal fue excelente, y el propietario incluso salió por una botella de vino ya que se les acababa la que solicitamos. Es una pena que vivamos al otro lado de Londres, ya que sin duda lo convertiríamos en algo habitual si estuviéramos más cerca.

This was our fourth visit to The Kitchen and we've always had a great experience. I think they've got a nice diverse menu and we've never had a bad dish. The Cod we had most recently was superb. Staff are always nice and friendly too.

Visitamos este lugar nuevamente el sábado pasado. Y que placer fue. Sara, nuestra camarera, fue muy servicial y nos cuidó muy bien. Mi amigo tiene un halibut y yo comí un bistec. La comida estaba cocinada a la perfección y Sara combinaba perfectamente con la vid. Definitivamente desapareció difundir el mensaje sobre esta joya en la zona.

No es la mejor experiencia en general. El cóctel Prosecco estaba caliente, los entrantes estaban bien, el plato principal era normal y muy caro para lo que era. El servicio fue excelente al principio, pero esto se resbaló a medida que avanzaba la noche: el personal parecía ser bastante olvidadizo. Aún así, tuvimos una agradable velada, pero nos sentimos muy odiados por pagar casi 100 por la calidad de la comida y el servicio.

Tuvimos una hermosa velada esta noche con algunos amigos, que luego fue interrumpida por algunos invitados no invitados. Absolutely 5*. Mel and Billy were so incredibly friendly and welcoming to our group and my dog, offering her treats and water and lots of fuss. Fantastic service and really delicious food, lots of veggie options, we can’t wait to come back!

Our table was ready on arrival.rather chaotic people arriving and being seated. £70 ahead rather disappointing no table cloth and paper napkins only!Seafood starter far to small no salad dressing and no bread or bread roll offered .Christmas dinner was average compared to the fabulous Sunday lunch this restaurant normally provides.Service was average even though it was busy but certainly not worth the 12.5% service charge added to our bill!!!Staff dressed in casual outfits no smart dress which distinguished them as staff working for this high class establishment.Seemed pretty obvious that this was the proprietors first Christmas lunchGreat shame the small things like table cloths ..napkins and cheap crackers had not been worked into the price per head better .Better luck next year !

Billy, Mel y el equipo fueron fantásticos en acomodar a 27 personas para nuestro almuerzo de Navidad. estuvimos en contacto constante y todos estaban muy contentos con el nivel de servicio y comida para un número tan grande. Nos ubicaron en la parte trasera del restaurante, cerca de la cocina y debido a que nuestro número tenía toda la zona para nosotros, fue perfecto para nuestro grupo. También nos dieron una bebida de cortesía cuando entramos y nos quitaron nuestros abrigos. Tuvimos un Maitre'd dedicado y cuando llegué fue recibido personalmente por los mismos dueños. Sentí todos los toques adicionales, como las galletas de Navidad. El servicio y el personal eran fantásticos y no podría recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente. La comida de tres platos fue encantadora y muy abundante, una muy buena elección y no demasiado caro. Gracias Billy, Mel y el equipo. Volveremos.

Una visita muy decepcionante para un almuerzo de cumpleaños número 60.Éramos un grupo de 3 y nos sentamos al lado de la cocina y a grupos de 10 y 16, como resultado, era tan ruidoso que fue una experiencia muy desagradable.El almuerzo asado era demasiado salado y ajoso.Lo peor para mí fue que envié un correo electrónico al restaurante, no para obtener ninguna reparación, sino para que tuvieran comentarios importantes, e ignoraron mi correo electrónico.Obvioulsy sin interés en mejorar.

Really glad we decided to try this restaurant it's a nice little gem.Great roast dinner and our waitress was quick on the mark when I asked her to recommend a mocktail.She came back with a non-alcoholic Porn star martini and a shot of sparkling water.It was fresh and delicious and a great suggestion for a 20-week pregnant mum, the service was thoughtful and friendly and we will definitely eat here again.Nice to see the owners in the restaurant saying hello and making sure dinner are happy with the food.

I've dined at this restaurant on many occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. The setting is lovely, the staff are welcoming, and the food is superb! I cannot wait to return for my birthday meal in December!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Staff very friendly and humorous. Nice atmosphere. Generous portions. Wine decent. We’re never keen on an added 12.5% service (which seems to be becoming a worrying trend locally) rather than 10% but we knew that before we went in and the service was good so no complaints.

Enjoyed lunch on Saturday with prompt attentive but not overbearing service. Kitchen promptly corrected an error in the order graciously and apologised. Great Fish and Chips and excellent value. Highly recommended

Restaurant is small and cosy. The food is great, highly recommend the hugely filling but very well cooked Sunday roast! The staff are friendly and attentive.

I'm not a regular visitor to Walthamstow, so it was a real treat to be taken to this posh little street with lots of nice places to hang out. The Kitchen has friendly staff, all wearing beaming smiles, and a nice "stylish but not snooty" ambience, with great choices in background music. The menu too is not extensive, but from what I saw, all the dishes looked great, and all appeared to be very generous portions for the the menu prices. If you're one of those people who asks "how good can fish and chips be?", my answer will now be "Try the Kitchen!". Honestly, it was really outstanding, and the side serving of crushed-but-not-mushy peas was perfect. My friend's linguine looked amazing too - brimming with a great selection of fish and seafood. Both dishes too generous to finish, but we were kindly offered "doggy bags" to take away...All in all a great experience. Thanks to all.

Amazing Sunday roast, and I mean amazing. Fabulous squid to start, lovely wine list, gorgeous friendly welcoming staff (particularly our lovely waiter Sarah). Someone has put a lot of love and effort into this place and it shows. 10/10!

Good food, and amazing service, Managers were lovely and more then happy to help. Ordered a burger and chips and was not disappointed.

New to walthamstow and visited following good trip advisor reviews. Disappointed firstly by the non existent choice of decent beers, therefore opted for a G&T; which was unfortunately warm and flat. Food started better, the gnocchi starter was very tasty. For mains my partner had a decent sirloin but unfortunately my seafood linguine did not contain the squid that was advertised on the menu. The staff were accommodating and offered me a plate of squid or a free drink. Would go back.

What a fantastic place! The food is amazing, great service, great hosts and definitely value for money. So often I’m disappointed with the food I’m served in restaurants but this far exceeded my expectations.

LOVE this place! The Sunday roast is the best I’ve had in London. Very generous portions and it’s absolutely delicious too. The owners are lovely, the vibe is chilled and friendly. It’s our favourite place to eat locally and we look forward to getting there whenever we can. As a side note, I’m a pescatarian and always have the veggie roast. The pattie they do on that is woah! Oh and before I forget the wine is fantastic too! Right I’ll stop banging on now.

This was my first visit and it was lovely. I was greeted and seated quickly. Our order was taken, the only tiny gripe was the length of time it took for the food to arrive, but It was worth the wait. my halibut was perfectly cooked and it was delicious. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I will be returning to The Kitchen

My husband and I visited The Kitchen on Friday (6.9.19) for a little date night. We had walked past it a few times in the past and always said we wanted to try it. The food was A-MA-ZING. We shared the Calamari and Arancini balls for starters. Both of which were excellent, not a rubbery squid in sight, and the sweet chilli sauce was so good. My husband had the salmon which he said was the best salmon he has ever eaten. Perfectly cooked with super crispy skin. I had the pork belly. Which again was beautifully cooked soft meat and super crispy skin. Staff were lovely, very friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for a lovely date night.

Sharif is an excellent restaurant supervisor who has taken care of us. Vittorio the waiter was very efficient and creative with his suggestions to our vegan food search and service. Food was delicious Sofas on the garden table required maintenance which we have reported to Vittorio. One of the waiter has forgotten our extra food request. We were surprised that this restaurant is part of Hilton Tower Bridge...Compliments, with little marketing and attention, this restaurant itself could be a excellent destination in London...

Got a lovely warm welcome at The Kitchen, and the decor and food was spot on. Recently refurbished and taken over late last year by a lovely couple. Highly recommend a visit.

We have visited the Kitchen on a number of occasions since it's refurbishment. Each time the food and service has been top notch. As a result, we decided to celebrate our wedding here last week. It did not disappoint! We had Sunday lunch for a party of over 40 people. Delicious food, fantastic service and great value! Billy, Mel and the staff have done a wonderful job. Highly recommended!

Great place to eat and drink. The seafood was lush and we had a sufficent amount of fish with the pasta. The desserts are delicious. The owners were very accommodating and welcoming. Great atmosphere will defiantly be back. 😁

Ok so my husband and I are very fussy diners, which includes being warm enough/ cool enough/ comfortable etc etc. We had requested a table near the front which was lovely. Mel and Billy are very gracious hosts, Billy made the most wonderful pornstar martinis, we had very nice food n wine in a his buzzy restaurant full of ambiance, loved it, will definitely be back, thank you both for your warmth and hospitality after a very long day ( Annual street fair)

Hicimos una cena rápida cuando pasamos la noche anterior. Mi esposo disfrutó la mejor hamburguesa de carne y papas fritas en mucho tiempo y el dahl era realmente delicioso: una buena selección de platos vegetarianos y veganos en el menú. El servicio fue excelente y atento, solo teníamos media hora y el servidor fue excelente al señalar esto y asegurarse de que tuviéramos una comida rápida pero relajada. Nos sentimos muy mal cuando nos dimos cuenta de que no habíamos pagado una propina como parte de la factura. . Lo recomiendo altamente

The Kitchen (Village Kitchen as was) is back to it's best. It used to be brilliant, but then went through a terrible period, but now it's back and even better. Love the changes to the decor, the friendly staff, the smashing menu and the fantastic food. Ohh the tuna starter - gorgeous. Well done you all, you've saved the old place.

Met for Brunch with two friends. Been to this restaurant on several occasions not for Brunch. Staff very friendly and accommodating when we wanted to swop a few items on the menu. Would go again and recommend to Friends and Family.

Nuestra primera visita a la cocina, definitivamente no es la última! Comida fresca, de calidad, bien presentada. El personal era muy amable y profesional. Mi hija que vive en Walthamstow lo recomendó sabiendo que somos particulares y tenemos altos estándares en cuanto a dónde nos gusta comer. Pruébalo, no te decepcionará! !

We enjoyed our meal, the menu is varied and reasonable, the service was friendly and the decor is nice.

Not what it was in terms of service or flavour of food. Charged for olives that never arrived, very mediocre tasting food. Left to find and collect our coats despite them being initially taken from us. It is early days for the new owners so hopefully they might sort out these issues but not tempted to rush back.

Came for Saturday lunch - owners and staff were very accommodating and attentive, but not over the top. Did not hurry us out even though we took our time finishing beyond closing time. Lunchtime menu is quite limited but covers most tastes. Scallops were delicious. Burger ok, nothing special. Overall a definite improvement under the new owners and will come back for evening meal again.

Billy and Mel have made a great start to their foodie adventure. Very welcoming guys who like people. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good choice of food and wine, but only lager on tap. Great calamari, huge but tasty belly pork, and pan fried cod was delicious. We will be back!

Desafortunadamente, mi salmón estaba crudo en el medio, así que tuve que devolverlo. Vimos que un chef fue a pedir disculpas a otra mesa que ya tenía un reemplazo de salmón, así que obviamente el gerente no tenía ni idea de lo que estaba pasando. The food here is really great, the atmosphere is great and the new owner billy and Mel are the hosts with the most.

After moving out of the Village to Upper Walthamstow, we ventured back to Orford Road to find the VK has had a rebirth under the management of Billy & Mel. Now called The Kitchen, the menu has retained some of the favourites as well as adding some delicious new dishes retaining the traditional British with some more new Asian, Fusion and European dishes too. We were lucky enough to experience the 'taster' evening which gave us a most tantalising offer of what is to come in the next few months. Most excellent. A brighter and more spacious revamp was evident, as were the efficient and engaging staff. Good luck to the revived village haunt 'The Kitchen'

Sin embargo, aparte de eso, todo fue excelente. Definitivamente regresaremos.

Buena comida, buen servicio y lo que vino en los platos fue sin duda una buena relación calidad-precio. Sin dudarlo definitivamente planearé regresar. Si solo tenía una pequeña crítica, el chef parece estar un poco demasiado cargado con el condimento de sal, pero era aceptable.

Went with some friends, the first course was OK,hummus, bread etc, but the second course, Risotto, was so salty I couldn’t eat it and caused nausea, the restaurant then offered me a sorbet for sweet, ‘on the house’,but it was full of lumps of ice and tasted like an old fridge, just disappointing. My friends noted their pasta was over cooked and soggy and not as good as they hoped.
