The Dovecote in Waltham Forest

I love a Toby carvery but the dovecote knocks it’s socks off Sunday roast is amazing fantastic portions extremely tasty, and the staff are friendly accommodating, highly recommend.

Great atmosphere excellent service food is really good. Thank you to Georgia, Nicole, jack and Amy excellent staff. Thank you to Nicole for moving us to a table on ground level as my father could not get down the steps. Had family from overseas who also said excellent and lovely staff they also enjoyed the food. Brilliant staff make you feel welcome nice touch they actually call you by your name after only been going in there a few weeks 😀

Great atmosphere coupled with friendly and warm bar staff. Always polite and helpful. Great beer garden for the summer and warmer days. Darts available and sports on TV for a range of matches.

Band was good .Dr. feel good, Need few more chairs tho. Will go Again. i.have arthritis, hip replacement, lot of pain. Hope u can get couple more chairs in Pls. Friendly pub.

Went on bank holiday Sunday. Georgia and Amy went out of their way to help move tables as my father was unable to walk too far so they hit a table that was nearer for him. Both worked so hard with all the customers I am especially thankful for their help.

It's a very nice pub very friendly and a really crazy place to be kid friendly live music is excellent nice and clean pub highly recommended 💯👍🏼

Was recommended roast dinner from family friend and after visiting first time have been back weekly , food is very tasty ample portions and great value for money staff are very very friendly and accommodating highly highly recommend!!!

it is safe to say we definitely will not be coming back! From the minute we walked in it was shambles, people were walking in and out of our area that we hired to use, people were treading all over decorations, some were ripped off the tables! We were nice enough to agree with the lady that we were happy for the decking to be used! The football delayed our party, so my mum ended up with a shocking surprise! The dj wasn’t on when you said it was going to be! Not only that he wasn’t taking requests as he said he has to play songs for every body not just for our party so what did we actually pay for?!?! And to top it off he was standing there whilst DJing sniffing cocaine off of a card! Don’t even get me started about the food, we paid £260 for food for about 35 people that wouldn’t even feed 10 people that was absolutely shocking! People was in and out of our bit all night, there was no privacy at all! I am very very disappointed and I won’t be recommending or using your facilities again

It was okay here, I went to watch a football match with a friend. Drinks and staff were fine. Need to see it at a different time.

Went there for Sunday roast with family. Food was great, leady serving us was extra nice, place is cosy & my dog was allowed in. No idea what the place looks like in the evenings but lunch time was very civilised. There is a big beer garden in the back, will definitely go back for a drink in the sunshine this summer.

Never disappoints for a roast on a Sunday! Always spot on 👏🏻 Such good quality meat and all homemade! Also, haven’t been able to find anywhere else that can match their roast potatoes. 10/10.

The roast dinner was awful. The stuffing looked as if it was the scrapings from the bottom of the pan. Burnt and hard. The veg was not cooked properly. The beef looked as if it was the sliced from the supermarket and heated. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were OK. So disappointed.

I was their for Sunday roast fantastic service from all the girls the food was spot on I will be going back for more I recommend this pub the place to go for a roast and more they also have live bands on and other events

The food was very nice, the service was very polite and the atmosphere especially on the Saturday when the live DJ and karaoke starts is amazing.

The Dove hosted my Dads Wake, and did such a phenomenal job! Thank you to all of the staff for their hospitality during this really tough time, On behalf of The Rice Family! My Dad would’ve loved to of had a pint in this pub!

The Dove is a dog friendly place and i go here with My Wonderful Mum and the music is cool and the oyster bay Sauvignion Blanc is nice.

We meet up in the garden. Good service and a pleasant time was had by all.

We have been in a few times for Sunday roasts and have been well looked after and the food was delicious (and varied choices)

Quite possibly the best and most generous Sunday roast dinner I have ever eaten out (and I have had a few!!). I have tried all meat options and have yet to be disappointed in 5 visits !!! Go there, Matthew the chef is a Master.!! the gravy is to die for. The girls serving are absolutely wonderful and SOOOO helpful you could not ask for more. !

We had a large family gathering today the food was fabulous, hot, plentiful and well priced, I had the vegan option stuffed cauliflower ,and it was really tasty, others had a traditional roast we were all pleased and would definitely recommend .

Always have a great time in The Dove. The new landlady has really turned this pub around and it's only a matter of time before the place is booming again.

Great Pub! Very spacious welcoming pub with a massive garden for warmer months. Loads of free parking in the pubs car park and surrounding streets. The lady serving behind the bar did a great job and was very friendly with it, a credit to the pub. I visited The Dove as they had an open mic night on, a night of great entertainment! Free pizza and snacks were on offer for the performers and spectators which was a very nice touch .

Attended a baby shower here and drove from the Midlands. It was lovely and the staff were kind and friendly. Glasses were cleared quickly and the service was quick. They have a lovely outdoor area but it does have stairs so not very wheelchair friendly. Locals were all lovely and they had a libe band in the evening. All top brand drinks available and a slushy machine 🙂

Finally worth a review. When visited first in 2021 it was a pub to avoid. Over the summer they nicely done up this pub to serve the local community with good selection of beer and seats outside. We didn't try the food but the roast looked very nice and people seemed to enjoy it. Keep up with the good work!

Great venue and food. Excellent service. If you need somewhere with large garden space and enjoy your summer afternoon, this is the place!

Great place to hold a function. Reasonably priced and great staff.

I visited with a friend for Sunday lunch. We were a little disappointed that the menu was only a roast and one vegetarian dish. We asked if there was another menu but were told no. The food however was good especially the roast potatoes and the other vegetables were cooked to perfection. We felt that the two young waiters were out of their depth. They were obviously inexperienced and whilst getting one of our orders wrong (beef instead of pork) they got orders wrong for the other two tables. Given that there were only three tables with diners I would have expected no mistakes to be made. Having said that both waiters were very polite and attentive. I would certainly visit again. I would suggest however that the music is turned down a little bit. The pub/restaurant has obviously just been decorated to a nice standard and I can imagine that the garden area with seating and tables would be lovely during the summer.

It was a wake and the buffet was fresh and a good selection.

Lovely pub. Incredible beer garden, I’ve lived nearby my whole life and only visited this past week.

Reopened recently f for the umpteenth time. Before the Christmas lockdown it was going to be a carvery. Sadly that never happened. I popped in last week about 3pm, I was the only one there! No real ale of course. Awful bright lights and sports screens. What an opportunity missed. Great location but stills no sign of a family pub.

Great place to go to sink a few pity more people won't give it a try the new owners are really determined to wipe out the bad image allowed to build up due to previous management's bad running hopefully the young lady running the newly named THE DOVE will get local support and become a wonderful community pub for locals old and new to meet and form friendships

I wish I could give it minus 10! Hot summers evening during school half term and the place is closed at 8.45! No wonder pubs are closing down! By this example they’re jumping the queue and doing it for themselves. Pathetic attempt at a relaunch. I’ll stick to the Old Hall Tavern from now on thank you! Great staff and open!!!!

Friendly staff but tables need sanding and vanishing grass needs cutting and lots of cigarette ends on the grass. Such a shame as could be a lovely garden

It's like they forgot they were re-opening after lockdown. Got there to be told cash only(WiFi hadn't been installed). 20min return walk to nearest cashpoint, only to be offered card payment shortly afterwards when they were struggling for change! 20 min wait to take a drinks order, then another 15 for the actual drink. It wasn't busy....just badly organised. Garden needs looking after. No hand dryers or paper towels in toilets. I really had high hopes for it, given that its got the biggest outdoor space in Chingford. But unfortunately it appears to just not be ready after 3 months. Nothing looks refurbished. Garden is untidy. I don't get it.

OK, so there is no website and when I called the number that is provided here, the person that answered had no idea why his number is being used for a restaurant!

No meals served but staff friendly and helpful. Just a shame only reopened less than a week before lockdown shut it again. Hopefully will reopen after lockdown.

Avoid the place it horrible with rude staff the service is poor and the food it terrible. I know a few friends that have used this place and they hated it as well.

I had an event booked at this pub and they double booked and didn’t even tell me until I got there and started decorating. They had the cheek to prioritise the other party that was booked after my one. Very unorganised and terrible service. Really let me down and ruined my baby shower on the day. This is my regular pub and I can guarantee you I won’t be going here again.

Not happy with the roast. The potatoes were to die for beautifully cooked. Gravy just how I like it really disappointed with the vegetables and what there was of the portions minuscule. Went for the mixed roast the meat portions tiny and the beef although nice half of the slice was just fat. The barmaid seemed friendly. Nice pub but for a Sunday roast it's a no... sorry.

Have to go to this pub now seems the place to go I never been there in all my years living in Chingford it’s seems the landlord has sorted this pub out I will give it a go

My family held our dear uncles funeral here today and I am so pleased we did. I stepped out of the car and said “mmm the food smells nice”. We were inside and we’re warmly greeted by a friendly barmaid, despite lots in our party, orders were taken in an orderly way. No stress. The pub was really lovely, dark wood and lots of windows. The conservatory room had the food set up and everyone tucked in eagerly. I must admit I’m not a lover of food from pubs but I truly was pleasantly surprised but how delicious the food was. We had an Asian style buffet along with delicious sandwiches. Thai rice, sticky ribs - such a yummy flavour and so tender. Will definitely be back. Back with my family for fun nights and back with my family for dinners - can’t wait already. Thanks Eamon for looking after us all today.

Was very disappointed after reading all the good reviews felt really let down, atmosphere wasn't great and felt like the owner looked down his nose at us would not recommend.

The Dovecote is well worth a visit . I really cant stress enough how great the Food ,Staff and atmosphere is . Good quality food . All homemade .

I organised a surprise birthday party for my husband in The Dovecote. We ordered a buffet for our guests. The food was very tasty and all our guests enjoyed it. Staff were absolutely superb and friendly. Good parking facilities. Our guests commented on the nice gin and tonics and the good range of beer that was available.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. A nice local pub with a down to earth atmosphere.

Just enjoyed a very tasty Sunday roast dinner at The Dovecote.

My husband and I with our 18 month old son just had a fantastic meal here! Myself and my son had the roast chicken roast dinner and it was amazing and just enough to fill your bellies! My husband had the 8oz home made beef burger and he absolutely loved it! We finished all our meals and had dessert! I would highly recommend the chocolate brownies and ice cream! Just amazing!! The food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and fantastic service from everyone! We are definitely going to be coming back! Especially for a roast dinner!

This pub went through a bit of a bad patch in recent years, but it's now under new management, with a new chef who only uses fresh ingredients. We visited on a Sunday evening and had fish and chips. I can honestly say that the fish batter was the best I remember tasting - not at all greasy but full of flavour. And I usually prefer fries to chips, which I often leave half of, but these were really tasty. Great salted caramel ice cream and good coffee too. The staff were very friendly and so were the locals. Since this is now my new local, I will definitely be going back.

Manager ran off with safe takings which is a shame, went where there were no kitchen staff. Massive beer garden and space inside. Needs a refurb but great character

All I can say is DON'T BOTHER WAISTING YOUR TIME IN THIS PUB. I went there on a Monday night with a couple of friends quite late on in the evening. There were a couple of young ladies behind the bar who were rushed off there feet. We had a few drinks at the bar and there was an Irish man sat up the bar drinking, it turned out that he must of been the boss or manager. Near the end of the night he started having a go at the staff in front of everyone in the pub. (very unprofessional). The poor girls didn't know what to say it was all very embarrassing not only for them but for us. Felt really sorry for them. We Found him to be very aggressive. This is advertised as a family pub?? With management that behave in that manner Nor myself or my friends will be going back. Shame looks like a great pub from the outside but DON'T BE FOOLED.

My husband and I visited this pub with some reluctance as under the previous management the food and service was diabolical! Well, what a turn around and for the best! A very welcoming dog friendly pub, as well as the equally friendly boss Eamon, amazing stock of Gin's ( my favorite) We both had the Mixed Meat's Roast and I have to say, it knocks socks off all the other local pub Sunday Roasts. A really warm and welcoming family pub. Thoroughly Recommend.

Had one of the best Sunday roasts today. Very child friendly & helpful staff. Everything is home made & plenty of it. The new owners are trying so hard.

We asked before hand if it would be ok for 20-30 of us to use a space for my birthday. Just family on a Sunday afternoon. The lady (vicky) wrote it in the diary.

This place is fantastic . It is clean, warm and hospitable and the food is really delicious . We came for Sunday lunch and all had really spectacular meals with good quality ingredients. A special mention for the epic Yorkshire puddings and gravy that even satisfied this critical Northener. The staff are kind and friendly taking the time to chat to us and our children and making us feel so welcome. We have tried most places in the area and this is the best offering around for miles .

Place was taken over some time ago and just gone down hill although I’m sure the new owner has tired their very best. Garden looked like someone’s back garden with horrid mismatched furniture and cheap/ dirty children’s toys. Bouncy castle kept turning off with children on which was a serious danger!! Didn’t want to eat there due to the fact of the state of the garden. It was terrible!

My husband and I went with our family on a lovely little family meal out at the dovecote and thoroughly enjoyed it! First we was given fantastic customer service by the staff behind the bar who were very pleasant and had great manners! Then our dinner came up and I had the lamb roast dinner and my husband had the beef burger and wow! I have never eaten a roast dinner where the vegetables are not hard and the meats all stringy but this meal was amazing and my husband really enjoyed his burger! If you want to have a roast dinner then I would highly recommended dovecote they have mastered it completely! Thank you to all the staff and the chef for cooking an amazing dinner!
