Ain't nothing healthy about Proper Burgers and it is probably because of this that they are such an indulgent, delicious treat. Proper chips are a favourite. Always prompt (or even early) delivery.

Initially some items were incorrect, so we called the restaurant and they had actually closed. But they kindly still made the missing items and dropped it off to us personally. Great food and customer service. Would definitely order again.

Unfortunately the buttermilk fried chicken burger was completely tasteless, it was supposed to have a tomato relish but it was missing from the burger - I’m sure this would’ve added some flavour, the crust on the chicken was too thick and the chips were undercooked.

Burgers were delicious but the rosemary chips were cool (just above cold) and the proper chips should have been hotter. The meal was just under an hour late. We will order from them again but probably not on a Friday evening!

So after reading a food blogger's list of best fried chicken including wings or burgers, Proper Burger appeared on the list for one of the best chicken burgers. Proper burger is closely located to me and I have visited on several occasions but always opting for a beef burger and their delectable home made apple pie. After reading the review on the buttermilk and mushroom truffle sauce, I was sat at home last Saturday and decided to order this burger along with the onion rings. The order came pretty quick and my oh my it was nice and hot and I scoffed the onion rings and burger quick time. The burger was a generous size and ticked all the boxes of a good fried buttermilk chicken burger with the crunch coating to perfection. The truffle sauce was delicious and what I liked that it came separately so that the burger would not be soggy on delivery. The onion rings were good too. I have always like Proper Burgers and it is one of the best burger joints around in East London with the service always being perfect when dining in.

Ordered the Morris burger, a Proper burger, chips and onion rings. Consistently good quality and excellent packaging to keep food warm. 30 minutes from order being accepted to being delivered. Can’t complain.

Food was hot and presented well. The burger and chips were yummy and cake and ice cream werent melted. The driver was friendly so when food was 10 min late i didnt mind.

Given that it's arguably Leyton's most renowned Halal burger joint, we were looking forward to visiting Proper Burgers. At the conclusion of our visit, however, we were left underwhelmed by our expectations. In terms of presentation, there's definitely a charming rusticness to them, with the lopsidedly-cut buns, and especially with the knife driven through their middle. As such, if you're in the immediate vicinity, it is, for the moment, the place to be. But it certainly isn't a place we'd necessarily travel for from afar. It pains me to say this but it isn’t the same anymore. I have been eating from Proper Burgers for a few years now and have done as the quality of the food has always been consistent regardless of eating at the restaurant or ordering a take away. There has clearly been a change in the chef, or management. The chips - totally different from what is normally served, a lot dryer than what has been given previously. The Burger - meat is now well done and the onions were very salty. The consistency of the burger overall is different. The onion rings - as normal, thankfully. The milkshake - tastes link mainly ice cream, there was barely any oreo in it. Disappointed.

Incorrect order was delivered..ordered buffalo chicken wings but got bbq flavour after 1 hour of wait.

Proper by name & taste. The burger patty was tender & succulent, though the burger sauces could have been better. Fries & chicken wings excellent, Chilli beef chips were a disaster, million times better in other places. Good quality mohito, no home made chilli sauce which was annoying as most customers were asian.

Great burger food arrived nice and hot and on time job well done.

All I can say is they make the best burgers in East London. 11/10.

Proper burgers is consistently very good. We tried the wings this time and would get them again. We have been getting their burgers since living in Walthamstow and still order from them now we’re in Leytonstone. A reliable, tasty local eatery that we use quite often and would highly recommend.

This is the second time I’ve order from proper burgers and both times the meal has been presented really well. I ordered and cheese burger 4oz and 8oz both came in a cardboard box and inside is the burger in kitchen foil on inside. Was piping hot when arrived and was nice and tender. The bacon was cook nice and crispy, I also order inside of cheesy chips and vanilla milkshake the chips came in a lovely white container with a nice amount inside and covered in melted cheese and the milkshake was just right. If you want a decent meal and want to treat yourself I would order from here the price is well worth it and will leave you more than happy.

Was not happy with the burgers this time, looks like they made it in hurry and mix both burgers. Cheesy burger and Tony Montana were mixed, things which goes in cheesy burger they were in Tony and Tony’s things in cheesy. Really not happy. Proper chips had floating liquid in it looks like water.

Food was really bad, won't order again. The buttermilk chicken burger had so much batter there was barely chicken in there, and couldn't finish it. Soggy fries. I never bin food but I couldn't eat this.

My favourite burger takeout place but delivery came 45 minutes late today and kids were famished at home. On top of that, we ordered mushroom sauce with the burger and that didn’t come. Rang the restaurant straight away but they just dismissed it as not being on their system while I can still see it on my order on the App. I said never mind anyway but was very disappointed not to receive any form of compensation which they should have offered for a regular customer. Let alone compensation, not even an apology was presented.

Unbelievable food, I was blown away!

End of last week I went to proper burger. I ordered two chicken burgers which they are the most expensive in the menu. I living very close to the restaurant so after 10 minutes I came back to take it my order home. When I opened boxes with burgers I was very disappointing. I was expecting extremely good burgers for £12each and I had bun with piece of chicken which it was fried without any kind of taste. Inside almost no salad, chicken breast it was hard to eat so I remove breadcrumbs to make it a bit easier to eat. That was the worst burger ever. I prefer to go to wetherspoon pubs and eat burgers with beer and fries for £15 that this one. If you are focus on burgers they should be unbelievable tasty. This one wasn’t.

This is by far the best takeaway I have ever had! I wasn't expecting much in the standard of food having ordered at 23:30 but everything was spot on. Food was still warm on delivery, chips perfectly seasoned, not greasy or soggy, crunchy onion rings, the best grilled halloumi ever and the juiciest burger with chicken bacon, jalapeños, mushrooms and more. I could write a whole book on this one meal alone but I shall be ordering again to add some more chapters! (no I havent been paid by the owners to write this review 😜)

I cannot say enough nice things about this place! The chicken burger was awesome and still crispy, which seems like some kind of magic, and truly delicious. The mushroom sauce is a must! The delivery driver lady is always so friendly, she makes my day! Keep it proper, every time! 😁
