I don't usually write reviews, but I was really disappointed in the quality of food at this place, it's great concept with the small kids' area so people with kids can sit and have their food or coffee whilst their kids play however when eating out and paying £27 for 2x breakfast meals and 2 coffees you'd expect good quality food something a little nicer than you could make yourself at home. The pancakes were the ones you get in a packet from the supermarket £1 for packet of 6 that you put down in the toaster with 2 slices of bacon and half a tin of syrup you'd expect fresh pancakes for the price of £12. The avocado on toast was tasteless really thick white bread with just avocado spreaded on top really poorly displayed for a cafe/restaurant- if you are ordering crushed avocado on toast, you usually get it on a nice piece of sourdough fresh bread with chilli seeds cherry tomatoes and rocket or radishes with feta and balsamic glaze or nice tasting sauce of some kind, it was so basic for the price you pay. The coffee I couldn't even drink, it was also tasteless- I'd also suggest them investing in a decent coffee machine if they are going to charge £3 for a coffee. Also, please note the venue has a black baby gate as you enter via a ramp it's quite tricky to open especially if you are on your own with a buggy.

i went to harry and Bonnie's on a hot day in the middle of September and it was just the thing i needed. the chairs where soft and comfy and they had a very fun play area for the kids, i ordered a delicious milkshake that cooled me down and put me in a "chill" mood and i also had a cheeky muffin but don't tell anyone ;). over all great little cafe to stop at on a hot summer day.

Excellent place to have a coffee or lunch with small children. Safe soft play area and a good selection at a reasonable cost on the menu. The main issue is cleanliness, understandably a lot of children throwing food on the floor but it seems to be left and all staff busy cleaning behind the bar and the restaurant floor was covered in food and dirty tables. Music was very loud and probably not the best choice. Food was very good and the waitresses are all very nice.

Had a lovely lunch and the childrens area entertained the kids. Only downside is that it could do with Air Con or sun shades on the windows. We were sitting at a window table and were sweating! The kids were also getting sweaty while playing.

We came here yesterday. The food was lovely , such friendly staff and I loved the children’s play area- a brilliant added touch to this beautiful cafe. Will definitely be returning !!

I have visited and eaten at the Star Inn 4-5 times for lunch over the last 4 months. I commute between Colchester and West London and like to stop at the Star Inn whenever possible. Fantastic decor, fantastic staff, fantastic service and fantastic food. Great value for money. The chef knows his stuff. Would highly recommend. Restaurant manager is always very professional and friendly. Ps. Please bring back the pork belly and dauphinoise. It was excellent.
