Harry's Bar in City of London, Westminster

Located in St Christopher's Place off Oxford Street, Harry's Bar could mean anything, and mostly likely an American oriented watering hole, until the menu identifies it as an Italian restaurant. Efficient service and good quality food make this a place of interest among the more usual tourist offerings in and around the local area.

Food was great amazing service The only issue was with the reception lady, We had a reservation snd the place wasnt full but she refused to let us in becuz we were 10 minutes early

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent visit to your establishment. Unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable, primarily due to the poor service provided by the staff. The employees were rude, which significantly impacted the overall dining experience. Furthermore, I noticed a concerning issue with the billing process. When we were splitting the bill, the amount each person was required to pay was unexpectedly higher. The staff explained that this was due to the machine’s automatic calculation, assuring us that the last person to pay would be charged less. However, upon leaving the restaurant and reviewing the payment, I discovered that a service charge had been added without our knowledge or consent. This was misleading and left us feeling deceived, especially since we were not satisfied with the service to begin with and had no intention of paying a service charge.

The food was a letdown. Everything else was great. My starter squid rings were inedible. Although they offered to change them, it put me off from having a starter. I've been in many restaurants with the same price range and the food here, I think, was the poorest. We were group of 4 and none of us were overjoyed with our dishes.

The pizza we received was burnt, and it was for my 7 year old, which left him very disappointed, and the risotto didn’t live up to the hype—I’ve had much better elsewhere. The customer service was slow, and the staff didn’t seem friendly or welcoming, likely due to how busy they were. Overall, it didn’t meet our expectations.

We had lunch today @ Harry's and honestly it is not worth the money! There are far superior Italian restaurants or other restaurants in and around marleybone village. It was an ok atmosphere as it was packed but the service was terrible and the food was just mediocre. Upon arrival , we were greeted with a lukewarm smile from the receptionist and as we were slightly early we were seated promplty by an extremely abrupt unwelcoming waitress who was very adamant that our time had started now! So we just continued to be seated ,not exactly the greatest of starts but we went with it. We were a group of 5 and whilst my aubergine a la parmigiana and my friends pasta verde were OK, the polo milanese and the pizzas not so much. At £ 20.00 a plate of pasta, you would expect something spectacular, yet it was all seemingly so bland and missing so much flavour. On a positive, The decor is lovely, reminiscent of a time gone by in little Italy, lovely music and a buzzy atmosphere albiet somewhat chaotic between staff. There seemed to be too much rushing about and lots of waiters dropping things and running around like headless chickens without purpose. It felt completely disorganised and a manical hectic chaos that nobody had a clue what was going on. Our waiter was like a young rabbit caught in the headlights...he didn't know what time of day it was bless him! A red-headed staff member publicly berrated another as a table left without paying! I mean, at least take that staff member aside and not do it in front of us! We felt very sorry for him as it was embarrassing for him. There seemed to be too many different levels of staff ( supervisors in suits), and nobody really seemed to be in charge or entirely know what they were doing. If you are going to place diners on a timer, then management need to ensure their staff are slick and know what they are doing. We had to wait 15 minutes to get the dessert menus! Ladies' loos were spotless, though, but just really run of the mill food wise and extortionate for what it is! I'm not entirely sure I would return..I don't think i would... not even for the infamous toadstool dessert.

I’ve always enjoyed dining at Harry’s as the food and service is usually great. Unfortunately, today’s experience was far below the standard I’m used to. The real issue was the service. The waiter in the black suit was rude and unprofessional. We were left with our finished plates for over 15 minutes, completely ignored. When we finally asked him to come over and talk about the food as it completely lacked flavour, he simply put his hand up in my partners face and said ‘I’m busy.’ When my partner pointed out how disrespectful that was, the waiter called him rude and muttered more rude comments under his breath. It wasn’t just us either, other diners in that section were being ignored too, some people even got up and left due to the poor service. We spoke to the manager who was friendly and apologetic and kindly wiped our bill, which we appreciated. However the waiter’s behavior is concerning and needs to be addressed. He either needs serious customer service training or should reconsider his role in hospitality. I hope this is looked into so others don’t have to experience such poor treatment.

I can't praise their customer service enough! My friend and I arrived without a reservation, and despite that, we were quickly seated. Unfortunately, one of our drinks was accidentally dropped by a waiter, and it ended up smashing inside a gift bag full of presents. The staff and managers couldn’t have been more attentive and thoughtful in handling the situation. They carefully inspected all the gifts (thankfully, nothing was damaged), dried them off and even provided us with a new gift bag to replace the soaked one. On top of that, they offered a complimentary round of drinks and two desserts as a gesture of goodwill. The two ladies who helped us went above and beyond, showing professionalism and kindness. Their actions really stood out, and they turned what could’ve been a frustrating moment into a pleasant experience. Highly recommend this place not just for its great food, but for the exceptional service.

Decent dinner, the courgette flower and the Toadstool were the highlights. Lovely staff as well, especially the charming Mango and his recommendations.

This restaurant is beautiful , the vibe of the restaurant is so wholesome, the food was amazing and very good priced !! But most importantly the customer service was amazing, especially the waiter Mango, he made us feel so welcome the minute we met him ! I have never experienced customer service like mangos ! One of my favourite Italian restaurants in London. Food is always on point and the quality for the price makes it well worth it. The staff are always accommodating and helpful with suggestions and recommendations. We had dinner last night and Melissa, and her team were exceptional. Going above and beyond and making the experience even better. Definitely a winner.

Went for Valentine’s Day. Unbelievable food and great atmosphere. We were sat outside and unfortunately 3 of the heaters were broken but we were moved. Our main server for the night was fantastic but the other one who took our order continuously forgot our food after we asked 3 times, leaving our main waiter to pick up the pieces which he did wonderfully. All in all was a great experience and understandably busy due to the day. Will definitely be back!

Harry's in James St, Marylebone used to be a favourite restaurant of mine. A lovely, happy place to enjoy a leisurely lunch and some lovely cocktails. However, since I last visited (in October '24) for my wife's birthday I have not returned. This is entirely due to the appalling attitude of a senior member of staff. For some reason he seemed deliberately argumentative (I had merely asked for a slight variation to one of our cocktails) and frankly he was just rude, arrogant, and aggressive. He completely ruined our special lunch. I can see from recent reviews on TripAdvisor and other review sites that the restaurant still has major issues with poor service. I don't think I have ever seen so many negative reviews for a restaurant - let alone one with such an esteemed name and location! I am taking my wife to lunch in central London on Thursday and we have such fond memories of Harry's in James Street (from before I last visit) I was thinking about giving the restaurant another visit to see if things have improved. I don't see how I can possibly do that given the reviews that are so negative, and so many in number, on TripAdvisor etc. It is such a shame. Maybe we will try Harry's in Victoria to see if that is better - but I have to say...whoever is in charge at the top needs to address the obvious, ongoing crisis with the restaurant in James St. I am frustrated because for me - the James St location was perfect. I loved it there! I originally wrote this to send it to Harry's as feedback - but that facility on their website doesn't appear to be functioning. I wonder if, given the number of poor reviews, that might be deliberate. I am a very sad former customer...

The service is very awful here. I visited on a special occasion and turns out I got a hair in the food. The manager comes to me and instead of apologising, he tries to claim that I put the hair inside the middle of the pasta. Awful service. The manager is absolutely terrible. The restaurant should shut down, considering they do not want to apologise and rather fight with their regular customers. The manager says he will investigate where the hair comes. I am waiting for the manager to find where it has come from.

I had the gluten free peroni (IBS), Harry G had the nonalcoholic peroni (he was driving), and Harry B had a normal peroni (brave boy). Then we all had pizza, mine Gluten free obviously, and quite good. Pictured is the glutenous pizza, I ate mine before I could photograph.

Terrible Experience – Unprofessional and Amateurish! I had one of the worst dining experiences at this restaurant. I ordered a bottle of wine, and after waiting 25 minutes, a staff member finally came over—only to tell me it was out of stock. Why did it take so long to figure that out? We received our menus and specifically asked to wait 10 minutes before getting our food so we could enjoy our lunch at a relaxed pace. However, the pasta arrived just one minute later—completely ignoring our request. Then came the biggest disaster: my black truffle risotto arrived ice cold. I sent it back, expecting a fresh, properly heated dish. Instead, it returned one minute later, now covered in parsley—which was NOT listed as an ingredient on the menu. When I asked the manager, Melissa, why my dish was covered in parsley, she insisted it was in the menu description. Well, guess what? It wasn’t! As an Italian who has lived in the UK for 20 years, I know what proper service and food should look like. Lying to customers and making excuses is the height of unprofessionalism. If you can’t own up to your mistakes, you don’t belong in the hospitality industry. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being treated like an afterthought.

The food was very delicious, especially the truffle pasta, fried calamari, and truffle arancini—they were amazing! However, the lobster ravioli wasn’t that great. The place had a great vibe, and the staff was really friendly, making the experience enjoyable overall.

I rate this restaurant as 5 🌟 I visited this restaurant twice, and the first one was two weeks ago, and the recent one was last Wednesday, the 5th of February. The menu is fantastic and offers a variety of starters, salads, pastas, pizzas, and a great main course of fish and meat. On both visits to this restaurant, my guests and I enjoyed the great food and the excellent service. The prices are good value for money. I highly recommend this restaurant.

You have a delicious truffle, enough for one person. It requires a reservation, even if the restaurant is empty, you are forced to book through their website.

AVOID ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A YOUNG FEMALE GIRL, Never will I ever dine here again. We booked here for my 21st Birthday after seeing the amazing reviews online and the truffle pasta. We turned up to the restaurant and was greeted by a lovely lady who asked whose birthday it was and wished me a happy birthday. We were then seated. From the moment we were seated we were treated like a nuisance. We seemed to of had some Btec footballer celebrity sat beside us to which we presume was a manager (young, dark hair lady in a grey suit) was overly obsessing over and flirting with infront of us. She made a complete fuss of him. At this point we had ordered food and it had arrived however our drinks hadn’t. We turned to speak to the manager as she was leaving the guy, to which her whole demeanour changed. She went from being over the top to very short and blunt with us. She turned around to us and said “what is the problem”. We advised her that our drinks had not arrived to which she seemed less than interested to sort and that we were a problem for even enquiring. She proceeded to turn back to the guy still carrying on the conversation and completely ignoring us. One kind waitress brought them to us after a couple minutes, letting us know she had gone out of her way to chase them for us. This same manager proceeded to give us dirty looks as we enjoyed our meal. Another manager/owner on two occasions (tall, older man) brought round wine to try for this celebrity and the two ladies sat on the other side of us. Not once were we entertained or acknowledged. Both parties had these managers ask them about their meal and whether they were happy. We didn’t receive this. If things hadn’t of been bad enough, we then asked for our bill after finishing our meal. The same rude woman manager was huddled around the waitress we asked for the bill from, whispering to her . This kind girl brought it over to us, but to our surprise we were overcharged £26 for items we never had. We raised this with the waitress saying we never had never ordered these items and asked for the service charge to be removed as we had had enough at this point. The girl raised this to the same manager to which she was not happy and proceeded again to give us death stares. We finally received our bill correct and paid. On the way out the same manager again proceeded to give us a dirty look. I’m not sure whether we were treated this way because of our age or the way we looked but I have never once been treated like this in my life nor have I written a review before but considering how disgustingly we were treated and how it ruined my birthday, I felt compelled to. Thankyou to the lovely waitress (glasses, scrunchie in her hair) for your kind service and treatment. To the lady manager who treated us this way, you should genuinely feel ashamed and disgusted. Staff should treat all people the same regardless of age, race or gender. To this manager, you were incredibly discriminatory :) just because you think we are young and won’t pay for a lovely meal.

The food is mediocre, especially their famous truffle pasta. To be honest, their service is not good. Not once did we ask for a baby chair, but we did not arrive until late, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was sometimes noisy.

Arrived on a red eye from the U.S. and had a fabulous dinner at the bar. The wine menu is excellent as are the cocktails. The bolognaise was the best I have ever had. And the best part of all was the service. Harry’s is classic and fine but yet so comfortable. Momo and Simone took the most amazing care of me at the bar. The best experience ever. I will come back again this week!!
