Popped in for Plaice and Chips after a long walk across the cliff tops...food was superb and excellent service - 5*

Decided on this place for fish and chips. Got a large cod and chips combo. The chips were more restaurant style than chip shop so if you want those kinds of chips this isn't the place for you. The large cod was not large at all. Certainly not when I compare it to a large from my local chippy. It was mediocre. The tartare sauce was tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive although theyb didn't seem to get any indication that we'd ordered using the QR code.

Good value over 60's fosh n chips, very tasty. Waiting on staff were excellent, can't fault the gent who served us at lunch today.

Annie looked after us very well.

My husband and I love eating here. Yesterday we were served by Danika. What a lovely young lady. So pleasant, so efficient and attentive without being pushy. She is an asset to the team. We look forward to visiting again.

I have been thinking of visiting this place since i moved into Eastbourne a few months ago. Finally did today and i am so glad i did. Had the regular cod fish and chips as well as tried haddock with the new spicy batter . Loved both, especially the new spicy batter. Just enough spice to tingle your tastebuds. Batter was nice and crispy. Best part was it wasn’t oily at all, like most chippies are. Special mention to Stefan who served us and was absolutely lovely. Would definitely visit again.

The food was very good and served in a timely manner. The waitresses were lovely and very friendly. It was very busy when we visited but we still received a warm welcome and a table for the six of us was found. This was where the problem occurred! We were sat next to what was obviously an admin area - laptop open on a table with paperwork around it. The lovely waitress told us we could put our baby buggy and adult rollator in this area which we did and we were very pleased to be able to keep it close. However as we were finishing our meal a man who I assume was the manager came to the area. Our two children were stood by the buggy and he was very rude telling us we shouldn’t have entered the area. He spoilt what had been a lovely meal which was a real shame as all the other staff had been so brilliant.

Really lovely food and very friendly staff. It is also in a good location on the sea front, not far from the pier. Highly recommended.

The takeaway only section adjacent to the dine in building. May 2025...Bought regular cod+chips for 9.29 + 3.99. Cross the road and you can eat on the beach watching the waves, and keeping beady eyes on the seagulls trying to get near your takeaway box to snaffle your food.

On a mini visit to Eastbourne and spotted Harry Ramsden on the corner. They have a din in and take away option. It's slightly pricy than your average fish n chips, but it's totally delicious! It's the beef dripping that provides the flavour. Service was excellent and welcoming. As a pescatarian , I am totally naive, munching away on the dish and reading the Harry Ramsden history on the table to discover the beef dripping when I don't eat beef. Then, I ordered a bread and butter pudding for elderly mother to discover it was made with eggs, delicious even though my elderly mother doesn't eat eggs! Had a laugh with the service staff after my discovery. OAP's get a special price, but the portion was small. Would recommend always to order medium or large portion. My photo is a small portion and was enough for me.

It was a very nice evening in this restaurant. I asked for a large plate and in the end it was much more than I was expecting so be careful with what you ask for ahah. The people are very kind; good service. ☺️

We visited on Good Friday and we're hoping for a good experience as this chain has a good reputation. On arrival the restaurant was about half full so not too busy. We were seated quickly and given menus. That's where the positives end. We waited almost half an hour before someone came to take our order - we even had to ask one of the staff to take it. Order placed and waited for our starters. 2 of our group ordered prawn cocktail for starters. When these eventually arrived after another long wait, it was basically a bowl of lettuce with a few prawns on top - no dressing. It was supposed to come with bread which wasn't provided. We had to ask twice for the bread and by the time it came, the prawns had been eaten as we were hungry especially having waited so long. We were not prepared to wait another half hour or more for the mains so decided to leave. We were happy to pay for what we had but cancel the rest of the order. The manager was sent over to us so we explained our decision. We visit Eastbourne fairly regularly, but this was certainly our last visit to Harry Ramsden.

Fantastic service on a Thursday evening during Easter school holidays. Warm welcome, very attentive, orders promptly taken and drinks brought out quickly. Fish and chips were lovely, batter nice and crisp, not too oily. The spicy batter was particularly memorable, worth trying.

The staff were poor at taking the order and gave the impression they didn’t want to be there. There was an item missing from the order. The customers were shocking. It was expensive

Had a lovely casual dinner here. It doesn't look much from the outside but inside it is fine and very relaxed. We had a friendly welcome, great service and the fish & chips were just so tasty! We opted for the OAP special which at £11.99 each was so reasonable for tea/coffee, main and dessert - the fish is a bit on the small side but it was perfect for us. We really enjoyed our meal and would recommend for a casual bite to eat.

A group of 6 of us (plus one service dog in training) visited the Eastbourne Harry Ramsden's on Sunday 23 March. Taylor was our waitress and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We were all really happy with both the food and the excellent service. We will definitely be back!

I stopped in Eastbourne the other day as was shopping in the area so I had to get something to eat that night so I called back into harry Ramsdon the food is freshly cooked to order was served and very well looked after by scarlet girl with the pink hair I went for the pie omg it was fantastic so much flavour the gravy it came with was so nice you have to try there pies there the best the service from the young lady was good even as she was busy nothing was to much trouble credit to the company scarlet 1000/1000 stars service this young lady needs some sort of praise for her hard work love mr cheeky in Kent Glen Xx

I had an amazing experience at Harry Ramsden's! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the fish and chips — perfectly crispy and flavorful. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were so friendly. A big shoutout to Stefan, who made our visit even better with his attentive and personable service. He truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home. I highly recommend this place for a great meal and excellent service!

Not a good experience unfortunately, had pie and sausage and chips, had to wait 30 mins for food even though the restaurant was very quite. Food was tasty but service not good. For fish and chips is quite expensive also

Vegetarians unwelcome…. After waiting 10 mins to be seated in a half empty restaurant we noticed a table sign (not on menu) mentioning the current use of beef dripping. We waited a further 20 mins to attract the attention on one of the staff (there were 2 working- although maybe one of them had been pulled in off another area as she really didn’t seem to want to be there) I asked what, if anything was suitable for vegetarians. There was a very uninterested reply that everything was cooked in beef dripping and no help with anything I could have. We left and found a much more welcoming restaurant round the corner. I totally understand the use of beef dripping- but I would suggest at least something suitable for a vegetarian and staff who are aware of which those dishes might be!

Was looked after by Annie very well. Food was well presented and she was polite and attentive without being obvious.

Had a lovely fish and chips which hit just the spot! Really made my day and was exactly what I needed, Scarlett was a great server and was very helpful with what we needed, spoke every sentence with a friendly smile, will definitely be visiting here again.

A very cold day and a very warm welcome. Food was excellent, as always. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Taylor was or waitress on the day.

Fancied some fish and chips whilst on a weekend break. As we were olwqlking along the beach with our twin 2 year olds we thought we'd pop in to this restaurant. However, even though we said that my wife and I would be ordering full meals and that we would treat our twins to a portion of chips, we did explain that our kids have special dietary requirements and we would have to feed them each a pouch of food. We were quickly told that the only option we had was to order a takeaway and leave the restaurant. Had the venue been crowded with a queue, maybe I could have understood this, but the place was empty, I remember a couple and a single person eating in the entire restaurant. We were utterly disgusted and how they were treating us. We have never been turned away for any restaurant (and let's face it, this venue is more of a fast food joint) in fact most previous restaurants acknowledge that our children may be ill or have a condition and are super accommodating. Not Harry Ramsdens. They would prefer to turn business away that helps two parents on holiday.

I came back here yesterday 15/2/25 as I was in the area meeting up with a friend decided to get fish and chip dinner I have been before last year was greeted by a very nice polite young lady Taylor took us to a table she said we give us a few minutes to make are choices which she did I went for a large cod was very tasty hot looked great on the plate the place was clean and tidy Scarlett gave us are drinks both these two young lady looked and acted very professional was smart looking polite in my view there isn’t any thing bad I can say about the food the service the business massive credit to the company in my view both these girls need a massive pat on the back for doing a fantastic job not easy dealing with Jo public but these girls do it so well some times you hear young people don’t wish to work more interested in just chatting with work staff than working not these two girls the opposite I think stunning service and I will be back very soon promise 1000/1000 stars both stunning love mr cheeky in Kent Glen Xx

Service was very good when we went to Eastbourne’s Harry Ramsden’s for afternoon fish and chips tea with Prosecco. Although we knew that the food would be “fried and greasy”, my partner and I were not prepared for just how much batter would be there. Very naive, I know. The food, however, was very nice. We have to mention Annie, our waitress. She was very attentive and informative and made our experience all the more enjoyable. Word of warning. It is very draughty if you sit by the windows on a windy, cold day.
