Went to Watch the Champions league Final in The Harrow with 4 Friends. Had a Great View of the Match and though it was very Busy the Service was good. had some Food as well and that was very Tasty, overall a Lovely evening and thanks to Tony and his Staff, will definitely go back again

I like the Harrow and have been going there for years. However, in common with many other Stonegate pubs their interpretation of 'the Covid laws' are incorrect, oppressive and utterly ridiculous. It will take you some time to be seated because you will be given a compulsory lecture and supervised whist you use an ap to check in – contrary to all guidance. You’ll then be denied entry unless you wear a mask to walk two metres from the open air car park to your open air seat in the open air. I am very familiar with the restrictions, laws and guidance issued to hospitality businesses and none of this is set by the Government. It’s a nonsense of hygiene theatre that they have decided to use. The staff clearly have no vested interest in the financial results of the pub and seem geared entirely to making it as miserable an experience as possible. I’ve been to loads of pubs after lockdown has eased. No one likes the restrictions and hospitality has taken a hammering. But it is possible to do things properly and still provide an enjoyable customer experience. I have been to plenty that still offer a great night out, but The Harrow fails miserably. Beware also that opening hours are reduced (for financial reasons – nothing to do with ‘safety’) so expect to be ushered out at fabricated closing time in a manner that bears no relation at all to normal drinking up. Draft beers are also restricted to a handful of the most expensive lagers so your trip will cost you much more than you might expect.Please. Don’t ruin what is actually a good pub. Are you running a hospitality business or a hostility business?

We had a pleasant pre-dinner drink in The Harrow, Cheam last night. Good Covid safety measures in place. However, the music was far too loud. As much as I trust my family, I don't need to be shouting across a small table to make myself heard, having to raise your voice is a sure-fire Covid spreader..!!!

Came here the other day and had a wonderful time. The pub looks amazing and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable, really made me feel at home.

This is a lovely pub with a good atmosphere and kind staff! Hatchet in particular went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and everything was good with our time there. Would 10/10 recommend!!

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:30 on 24-8-20 and didn’t even get past the door! Apparently they don’t have a license to have children in past 8 o’clock yet never asked if children were part of the group when booking. We had one 7 year old as an ‘actual’ child who the frankly rude hostess (wearing a hoodie?-not very smart or welcoming?) said we initially weren’t allowed in. But we were also with two 16 year olds and one 17 year old and when further questioned the woman said they weren’t allowed in either? This just makes no sense to me and I feel we should have been informed about this odd rule when we booked. Definitely won’t be returning.

Staff were very helpful, spot on with social distancing and taking our details at the door. The pub garden was clean and spacious and staff were very fast with the app orders. Our waiter Joe was amazing and hilarious, made our evening much better, also food was fab❤

We came for some social distancing drinks, easy to book over the phone and good service on the door, very clean and felt safe. We ordered some food and drinks through the app and we had very quick service. We didn't need to ask for any condiments with the meal because Chef Jo brought all the sauce. Ella was our waitress and was very lovely. Jamal the security guard kept us safe. Will be returning very soon.

First visit after closure and I must say the staff and operations of the Harrow was friendly and well organised. The top Chef Joe was extremely helpful with the menu choice. He was informative and friendly. My prawn and squid dish was so yummy! Thanks Joe and the Harrow Team!

First visit since refit and must say very impressed. Visited with family. The food was very well presented and very tasty. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Loved the new decor. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

My spouse and I were in the village and decided to have lunch here as the menu was extensive, and the beautiful Tudor styling of this gastro pub from the outside is beautiful.The atmosphere in this pub is very good, and especially loud when a sports event is being televised – the pub has televisions on almost every wall, so it’s ideal as regardless of where you sit, you are guaranteed a view of the game being broadcast on the television. For lunch we were very well taken care of, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was fantastic despite the pub being full. The food was great, and well-priced for the large portions. All plates were thoroughly and quickly demolished. I will definitely return and do recommend visiting!

Went here for some dinner and a couple of drinks and ended up staying until it closed what a night we had! Food was amazing i had pizza it was beautiful and come with a handy small pizza cutter winning!!! Good price all round for food and drinks. Staff are lovely always willing to help. A little bit later in the evening a DJ turned up he played a mixture of songs which were fantastic. He only downside is by about 11 30 the dance floor part was soaked with drink which made it slippery or when it had dried up a little sticky. Highly recommended place to go for a fun evening out. I would advise to book a table as it can get busy.

Visited with friends for a catch up and wished we had gone somewhere else What on earth have they done with this nice pub? It was awful. Too many screens showing football, loud rough crowd, rubbish menu, overpriced drinks and poor service. Agree with previous reviews, this is not what is needed in Cheam Village! We will not be returning and suggest you give it a miss unless you fancy an evening of rowdy football fans. Just dreadful!

How disappointed I was the people who designed the refit must have been on drugs, they have destroyed what was once a very nice pun, and to add insult to disappointment the drinks are way over priced for what it is, it is also difficult to put your glass down as some tables don't have a flat surface, cant comment on the food as not eaten there, very disappointed.

Whilst ordering food at the bar, the staff were eating behind the bar and continued to serve me with a mouthful of food. Very unprofessional and looked miserable and scruffy. The food was disgusting. Over cooked and burnt. We would of sent it back and complained but we were in a rush to get to the cinema. We had a very bad experience a year ago before the refurb and thought we would give it another go as we were under the impression that it was under new management but later found out it wasn't. Avoid like the plague if you are thinking of eating here.

Long wait at the bar and then just over an hour until our food arrived. Food was fine and reasonably priced. Will go back for a drink only.

They told us for weeks that tickets for their Christmas Eve night were sold out. People were phoning up, going in to be told no more tickets and there was a waiting list of 170 people. But this was not the case as on the night they were selling tickets on the door for £20 when they were originally £3. A lot of my friends had to make other plans. Money grabbers!

Typical high street pub, packed busy and noisy on a Saturday night and quiet and welcoming on a quiet weekday. Can’t comment on the food but the pub itself is ok and the drinks are reasonable.

Tried again after re-fit as not been in the pub for 10 years as the service is so bad. I left after waiting at the bar for 5 minutes with no sign of Being noticed. The pub was not even busy.

Me and a group of friends visited the Harrow at the weekend as we heard it had recently had a refurb.

This place has just been fully refurbished (so they say) so we thought we'd give it try. Awful bar service and food, food was cold when it arrived...plus it took an absolute age to get served a drink.

I was really excited to see this hideous pub that attracts a right pile of trash boarded up thinking it had closed for good. Sadly however it was only to do a cheap nasty refit.

So when we were younger, The Harrow was the place to be on. Friday night so we were excited to visit tonight to see the refurb....maybe it would breathe some life back into the place! Refurb is fab....DJ was great...fab music! But the bar staff remain slow, miserable, rude and useless and that includes the manager who should be coaching her staff to be better... not supporting their incredibly sullen incapable ways. If you don’t like working on a Friday night, move on love...hospitality is definitely not for you!!!

We wanted to try the new renovated pub thinking it would be much better than before (they couldn't boil an egg for a salad). We went with our 2 dogs for breakfast on a Sunday morning, the pub was quiet and ordered our food. Whilst waiting we found lots of broken glass on the floor by our table so clearly no cleaning had taken place. We had to wait over half an hour for our food and when it came out the poached eggs were cold bullets and my avocado on toast was completely cold, why if we had to wait half an hour?! Despite being really hungry we couldn't eat the food and got a refund, that was interesting as the staff don't appear to be able to work the till! Such a shame as could be a really nice pub.

It may have been done up but it was chaos in there tonight. Wanted a birthday drink before heading off to a meal but waited 10 minutes at the bar without being served so we left. The Staff were happy to serve the drunken youngsters order g their Jaeger bombs but sod the other people waiting. Drinks all over the flo9r and staff moaning about what a day it's been. Just serve your customers which is what you are paid for! Will give this place a miss in future!

Called in here for lunch today, BIG mistake. The pub wasn't busy but it took a good 45 minutes before the poor excuse for lunch turned up. I had 'smothered chicken' and I'm struggling to find anything good to say about it. Chicken was tasteless, the bbq sauce was the only thing that made it edible, a spoonful of wrinkled peas and a handful of luke warm chips oh and I mustn't forget half a grilled tomato! My friend had 'cod and chips' The cod was dry and looked like it had been sitting on a warming plate for a long, and I mean long time. She too had a handful of luke warm chips. Very poor and over priced. Wetherspoons or a motorway service station produces a better meal! Had it not been for the fact we had waited so long for this 'offering' to arrive and didn't have another 45 minutes to wait for some sort of improvement we'd have sent both meals back. The Harrow, which has just opened after a refurb needs to get it's act together regarding it's food. I won't be returning any time soon!!!

So it is bucketing down in Cheam - and I would like to pop in and see the "new" refurbished Harrow and have half a cider...

We came here for a Sunday lunch, where it only opened at 12pm, and we had to pay for parking even on a Sunday (didn't used to many moons ago!) It was raining, and so they were kind enough to let us come in a few mins earlier rather than waiting for the pub to officially open. The food was good enough, and when we left, we could compensate the cost of the parking from the food and drink that we bought, so that was helpful.

I have never previously visited the harrow before but stumbled across it when out with friends in Cheam who often frequent the venue.

It was pretty empty at lunchtime. Ordered 2 pizzas at 12.30, they finally arrived at 1.30! Minus 1 extra topping on one..

I was looking for somewhere local and central for my sons 18th just a for the family to drop by and have a nice lunch and join us in a little celebration. I emailed just to see if I could book a few tables and huts outside and the response was with a couple of hours and they were happy to help. When we arrived we were greeted by Ella (who was just fantastic all day). There was a large group of us and all the bar and kitchen staff worked very hard. The food orders came through thick and fast (around 30-40 of us) and I have to say the service and quality was excellent. Everyone was happy with their food, it looked delicious and it came out quickly! We had a great day! Thank you to everyone!

I agree with other recent reviews. Lack of bar staff, long wait to be served. Food I wanted was not available. Dirty tables, empties not collected.

Just been to the Harrow which we’ve frequented many times in the past 10 years living Cheam and although it’s had a chequered history on service our most recent visit has been the worst by far! On entering the pub, most tables had not been cleared from previous customers and even those that had been were sticky and covered in spilt drinks. One staff member was behind the bar while the other ate her sandwich sitting at one of the bar tables. My wife even went to the bar grabbed the cleaning bottle and wiped the table while I waited to order.

Came here for lunch and only half the menu was available - this is not made clear online. Bar staff make you feel like you’re annoying them when you try to order something.

Went to the harrow to watch football with friends and we had phenomenal service from the barman Ollie. He was accommodating, friendly and did everything with a smile. Genuinely fantastic thanks to his wonderful service and we will definitely be back to see Ollie again!

We popped in here for a quick drink after a meal at the lovely Samsara across the road - never again! They have a cocktail menu but are unable to make the cocktails and when we asked for a port instead they has not heard of it! We ordered a dessert which didn't turn up although reading other reviews that may have been fortunate! This pub used to be lovely - sadly it has changed beyond recognition. I will not be back!

The men's toilets had excrement everywhere in both cubicles, utterly disgusting, a true reflection of the football thugs who haunt this establishment. I will never return to such a place and hope I never witness such a revolting scene again.

Fantastic way to spend the afternoon. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. Ollie & Georgia were so on the ball, nothing seemed too much effort. The food, EASY CHEESY PIZZA was AMAZING. We’ll be back without a doubt. Thank you for a lovely afternoon ❤️

I will split my review up into different parts to highlight the positives and negatives of The Harrow Inn.

Service was awful and food terrible. Some was sent back but replacement was no better. We have been coming here for lunch for several years but enough is enough, after the last two visits we will not be coming again.

A party of 7 of us went to The Harrow as it was my dad’s birthday. The fish and chips we were served was terrible. The batter was so hard and over cooked it was difficult to cut into and I have seen more fish on a fish finger. Not recommended at all as we wasted a substantial amount of money and left hungry.

Really bad service, when I was there they were very busy with only 1 person serving so it was taking about 20 minutes to get served, they should definitely get more staff.

First one was when I arrived with a group of friends for a catch up drink. It was difficult to hear each other as the music was very loud but it then became ten times worse as a DJ arrived and the level went up to deafening. We all though this was too loud as we were in a pub not a club. Returned a few weeks later for a Christmas lunch. Despite the fact that I had booked, pre chosen our food, paid a deposit and rang up to check that everything was ok when we arrived we were shown to a bare table deviod of cutlery, crackers or any tableware at all. Went to the bar and there was panic about our order, the manager came out and agreed it was not good and then personally set the table for us. Despite the fact that they knew what we had ordered the pudding choice was not available. A row broke out at the table next door when they complained that they had been kept waiting at the bar and the bar 'lady' came over to shout at them ! We were offered a compimentary drink in recompense for the whole disaster which was a good gesture but was not enough. The manager did all that he could but there are plenty more places to eat in Cheam and we shall not be going back here again.

Unable to find a pub where we could eat at 2.30 on a Saturday afternoon in Cheam, we settled for The Harrow. It was good to escape the rain. Despite some unfavourable reviews, we found that the pub was quite decent. The decor was a mishmash, a legacy of Ember Inn days. For example, over a fireplace that was not in use, a mirror shaped like the slot of a pillar box was hanging, and immediately above that, an enormous clock with roman numerals, bulging out of the wall like a fish-eye. The carpet, though, was quite luxurious. Up on the wall was a large TV, and we were treated to several replays of Mo Salah's hat-trick against Bournemouth.

Normally we enjoy visiting the pub but Sunday 25/11 was an exception. Barman Brendon couldn't be bothered to serve properly and had a bad attitude. The food order was messed up and the only saving grace was Nicola who apologetically gave us (and others) a refund. Very disappointing. We won't be back for a while.

Food is general pub grub which is fine and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Especially welcome we’re the open fires on a cold day.

Had to wait over an hour for our food, when it arrived, was poor and not as described on menu. Adjacent customers left their food and walked out in disgust. Another group’s food was so bad that they just laughed at it. A steak so burned that it looked like a lump of charred wood. One customer showed her tin of slop mascquerading as macaroni cheese and said £10 for this? (these were not people in our party but other customers). My group were so hungry by the time our food arrived that we wolfed it down then called in at Waitrose to buy something decent to eat at home.

If you want to watch drunken yobs in track suits insult customers whilst the management do nothing then you have cone to the right place. A filthy stain on this lovely village. I have been here many times but after this evening no more.

Went for Sunday lunch at 1.30. They had run out of lamb, with only turkey and beef left on the roast menu. So we ordered the beef. It took 1 hour for the food to arrive. When it arrived the waiter said they ran out of beef so they have given us turkey instead. I didn't want turkey and if they said that earlier on I would've not ordered. Manager didn't even come to apologise. The money was sent back with one of the bar staff. What a shambles.

Food was great, staff were really helpful and friendly and the inside of the pub was lovely and cosy yet spacious, and had a nice atmosphere but wasn't too busy. Great experience.

This pub has deteriorated rapidly over the past few months. The food and service are awful, the toilets are dirty, the DM’s look like they’d rather be anywhere else. Much prefer the Red Lion across the road. Surprisingly the same brewery!

When will they close this pub down. Staff are rude. Door staff are awful the worst I’ve seen and as for the new management, sorry who is he?? Where is he??

Food ordered was the hunters chicken , it was of a poor quality and very over cooked with a grilled tomato that was cold

Went to The Harrow expecting to eat and drink. Waited 90 minutes for food that didn't appear and then we were told they'd run out of mashed potato!! They hadn't even started to prepare our meals after 90 minute wait. We asked for refund and went elsewhere to eat, much later than anticipated, and our family group of 16 people disbanded, unable to eat together.

Went in last night with 4 friends, quiz night was on. One girl was doing that (she was great actually, very happy)

I have seen a lot of negative reviews but cant understand why. The food has always been good every time I have visited and has come quickly. Staff have always been attentive and kind. The burgers are the best in my opinion although a little overpriced in my opinion for what it is. The club sandwich however is definitely not worth it. Very little chicken and dry bread. But everything else seems a winner!

Eaten here twice for a family dinner (not on busy hours) and had some really good food served by a a friendly and attentive staff. Will certanly come again.

Called in on a Monday afternoon for a swift drink . My wife enquired about food but we were told there was no gas in the kitchen . So there was no food . Have they heard of electricity or sandwiches ?

Unimpressed - very poor quality food and cleanliness not up to scratch. Shame, as is nice looking place and could be good with a bit of effort. Won’t be returning anytime soon.

Visited mid week for a meal. Bar had quite a few customers for mid week both eating or just socialising. Service was good and the menu has a good variety to choose from. I had a classic burger and sweet potato chips both of which were tasty and well presented. My companions also enjoyed their meals.

I've generally had a good experience here, meeting friends for drinks and maybe a snack. Tonight however I went for dinner with a group of 12 people. We had booked ahead and pre-ordered so everything should have been straightforward.

The Harrow has become a much larger commercial pub. Food is ok (average for what it is). I only go in here now to catch up with large groups of friends - would choose to go here for a meal on a couples basis.

On a cold day I went in here to warm up, saw the fires! So much nicer in here when the men are working, they always looks so conciencous.

i went to have some food, as was waiting for a pick up, ordered the ultimate burger, £12 was a lot but the burger was great! the atmosphere was great sat near a fire pit while it was -4 outside!

Large pub, gets busy at weekends. Not as personable as the smaller pubs in the village but a good pub none the less. Serves good pub grub and their hot wings are very hot! They do show football and rugby in the pub but the Tv's are in their seating areas and unless your seated, it's difficult to see the big game.

2 meals for a fiver usually equates to 'avoid' but The Harrow is oh so different. Yes it's busy, yes there are kids and there's sport on the TVs (quiet), but the staff are wonderfully polite and helpful and there are lots of them. Need a table cleaning? just ask. It's more "community hostelry" than town pub. The Marsden March walkers are coming through Cheam now and the pub owners are happy to let people come in to use the toilets. Think 'warm and friendly' and you're close to the mark.

Visited this place after many a bad experience and basically nothing has changed. This place attracts a rough horrid crowd it really is the pits. Upon leaving a fight was breaking out outside and there is a very aggressive atmosphere. I would definitely not recommend or return.

A great pub to take shelter from tge wind and rain. You can watch the football on big screens and there's plenty of space if you just want a quiet chat. The vegan chilli is very tasty and superb for those who have signed up for veganuary. And the pizzas are great for anyone else as you can easily customise by adding toppings.

I have been visting the Harrow for many years now. Was very surprised at some of these reviews its a lively relaxed local pub not a cocktail bar or hotel or 5 star restaurant!!! What I love about this place is the fact that I can go for a girls night out with friends or a drink before a meal with my husband. This pub suits ALL ages without making you feel like you should be indoors with your slippers on! I can even bump into my children and their mates without feeling old and out of place..... My one criticism is could someone show the short lady behind the bar how to smile.....The bar staff work their socks off on a Friday and Saturday and are to be commended but the one particular lady always looks like she wants to kill you loool

Even though I’m a self-admitted Scrooge, the festive decorations that have been put up by Darren and the team are really tasteful and make the place feel more warm and welcoming than normal. Well done guys!

Visited with my daughter in law who is a regular visitor. Last visit was a couple of years ago when it was mayhem. Under the duty manager Dan who was unflustered by how busy the pub was he seemed to everywhere at the same time making sure things ran smoothly. He was constantly checking menus were in the right place, everyone was being served and tidying and collecting glasses. No wonder he is so slim.

well a nice pub. didn't eat but menu looked okay. the pub it self is nice staff are friendly (in the main) BUT oh dear the wait to get served was unreal. the bar was 5 deep and 3 people serving is a joke. i can only imagine this is what happens every Saturday. if it's a busy pub put more staff on. There was ten of us and we will not be going back. it took 20 to 30 mins just to get asked to be served. better pubs in the area. SORRY

Came on a Sunday evening with friends. Scottish Lady behind the bar was the most miserable surly unfriendly bar person I have ever come across. She got my drink order wrong. No apologies when she had to re do it. My two friends roasts came within 5 minutes (!) And mine and my partners 10 to 15 minutes later! You pay nearly a tenner for a roast and you get frozen roast potatoes frozen Yorkshire pudding frozen vegetables and instant mash potato!!!!! Come on guys! Do you really think this is acceptable? Never coming here again. Management take note please.

I hadn't visited this pub for a few years to dine as it was unfortunately a very bad experience for me the last time. since then there is a new manager in place who has certainly improved things.

The restaurant has been restyled since my visit some years ago. The internal table arrangement is more convenient and the 'beach huts' in the rear car park are a great novelty, especially for young couples with young children -- and give lone diners the benefit of no kids running near the table as you eat!

Ayer tuvimos una agradable (si es caliente y húmedo) paseo por el parque para este pub en cavernas Nonsuch Pueblo cheam para comer el domingo. El asado estaba delicioso, las porciones justas, con un montón de verduras y salsa vegetal y que con un par de pintas de Amstel - maravilloso! Es un relajado y agradable pub con una buena distribución, así que las mesas no están una encima de la otra. Estado antes y sin duda volvería otra vez!

Me vienen aquí una vez al mes o así como un amigo vive al lado. Es una cadena que tiene un pub normal renovación cada pocos años, durante la semana de su gente están en allí y en la semana es lleno de jóvenes ya que el alcohol es barato. La comida es normalita, pero al menos siempre es constante. Si quieres un barato pinta y un aperitivo rápido entonces es tan buena como en cualquier otro sitio. . .
