Poor customer service and what’s really annoying for a local family - they aren’t children friendly. I went on a cold Saturday morning wanting breakfast and coffee. The smell from the kitchen was overpowering , they really need to sort out the extractor fan and when we decided we just have a coffee the American sounding bloke was quick to say , it’s a restaurant and made sure we felt we weren’t welcome . Shame as I work across the road and live locally but they won’t have my business again.

I went here and the blonde boy that was working there was listening to his music and was very rude, when I asked for him to take my order he said 'one sec' and wondered of. about 10 minutes later he came back, smelled me, and ran off again. Will not be returning !!!

This was the best cafe I think that I have ever been in. Everything was perfect for myself and my wife. The food was excellent, got ands plentiful. Coffee and tea outstanding and the service was spot on. I asked one of the staff there how they would describe their establishment and they said 'gastro cafe'. I can agree with that. I had a vegan meal and my wife had a more traditional meal and we were very pleased to have found this place

Visiting a patient at the hospital opposite, I decided to go to this place. It was cold inside, and the extractor fan had not been switched on (presumably) so there was a heavy smell. My hot meal was served on a stone cold plate. Friendly waitress.

We’ve been coming here for years and they never disappoint. The breakfasts in particular are delicious and fortunately they are served all day; the French toast, pancakes and Eggs Benedicts are particularly lovely. Today I had the Huevos Rancheros from the specials, which is so tasty. It’s a lovely family-run restaurant, service is quick and everyone is friendly - I really don’t understand the comments about rudeness given by other visitors as I’ve not had that in 6 years. Whether you want coffee and cake or a slap up meal, you can’t go wrong with Harrison’s.

We came in for a takeaway, the man on the counter who served us was rude. We bought 4 sausage baguettes 2 teas and 2 coffees and was charged £32. They weren’t even nice, won’t be going back.

i visited this restaurant on many occasions because the food is fantastic but the thing that really annoys me is the staff customer acknowledgement is poor

The Full Monty breakfast was very disappointing, £12.75 for a small breakfast which came with 1 hash brown - a rip off. Order the chips and yiu might get a breakfast worth £12.75. I used to rate this place but I was so disappointed I won’t bother again. They are ripping off people when times are hard and that’s unforgivable and NO I didn’t leave a tip

On arrival we thought we were in a nightclub as the music wasn’t very appropriate for the morning. We thought there was heavy drilling outside but then realised it was the coffee machine. We couldn’t even hear ourselves speaking as it was so loud. When our coffee arrived, it didn’t actually taste very nice. It is a dog friendly restaurant but they didn’t provide a dog water bowl for them inside. We waited too long for our drinks to arrive. However the food was very good and enjoyable. Will return for the food.

Eaten here before but couple of years ago and was good. Family group, two of us had classic breakfast, the eggs looked like they had been under a hot lamp for hours, the bacon was cold and hard, the sausages were average at best. One of us had a veggie breakfast the sausage was so salty that she couldn’t eat it. The worst things was the coffee it bordered on being undrinkable certainly wouldn’t have a refill. Staff were friendly and perhaps we should have complained at the time but had kids with us and didn’t want to worry them.

Amazing i love how their chubby son was licking my food very welcoming.GREAT (not sarcastic) the food was excellent i had a hot breakfast and a coffee. Scrumptious. Perfect.Recommend to munch on this food.Also Harrison was nice

Harrisons is excellent. They are all so friendly and fast with service! Tom is always cheerful and so quick as well. I love the fact that they are also very on the ball with Covid - masks, cleaning tables, hand gel, etc.. they clearly care about their customers and their staff. My favorite 'go to' cafe in Hove!! food lovely and reasonable in price too.. great value. And im happy to be able to write this review.. i dont do many reviews but they deserve it! What a lovely and friendly place, great food and lovely tea. The staff go out of their way to make your dining experience so pleasant.

The people are very nice and they have really good foods like there tosties and there beans on toast.

Popped in there today. The jacket potato was huge and lots of brie cheese. My husband's panini also very generous and both nicely prepared and cooked. Well worth the very reasonable price. Will definitely go again when in the area..

We had the huevas rancheros (special from blackboard), which was very enjoyable, also loved my "kale kick" smoothie. Pleasant atmosphere, nice and relaxed, easy to park nearby.

Heard lots of good things so finally tried it this morning. Classic vegetarian breakfast was perfect and my wife loved her french toast

It seemed to take a long time to get my breakfast so when it turned up with uncooked chips and cold bacon it spoilt the rest of it which was OK. I didn't have time to get them to cook it properly as I was already late for an appt.i usually use the sandwich bar round the corner if in a hurry and the staff there seem more friendly.

Came here for a work lunch with my team from a local company. I had the Eggs Blackstone which was a very good potion, tasty and reasonably priced. The rest of my team said their food as good and we were checked in on by staff which wasn't expected but nice. I've also come here for my lunch in which they allow you to build a sandwich with 1, 2 or 3 fillings always very good.Will be back.

Lovely friendly staff and fast service, a colourful cafe opposite the Montefiore hospital with a laid back vibe. Great food, plenty of choice..... be careful of the pies (see photo!!)

Une ambiance rustique et une carte relativement complète. J'ai pris le wrap poulet avec sauce piquante et a la confiture. Je ne suis normalement pas fan du salé sucré mais leur recette son bien élaborées.

Good mix of paninis, jacket potatoes and other fresh produce, cooked to your order. Only a small number of tables so get there early and enjoy good food at a reasonable price.

Been here a ton of times. Love it. Love the food, toilets are clean. Not the cheapest but the best around hove for a quality bit of nosh 100% recommended

My brother introduced me to the little gem. Love the guys there serving. Comfy, good menu and food delicious. Have now been maybe 6 times and never lets me us down. Service quick even when busy. Freindly and welcoming... Looking forward to the next visit soon, thank you....!

Visited for breakfast before hospital visit. My arm was in plaster so we asked for a table with plenty of room so I felt comfortable. We were shown to a table and we ordered and our drinks were served. About ten minutes later a waitress approached us with three men in tow and told us we would have to move tables although there were free tables available. If we had not ordered we would have left immediately. We were shown to a six place table which was clearly very dirty and we asked that it be cleaned which the waitress supposedly did. Why move two people to a six place table and put three on a four place doesn’t make sense. The food was good but the table was so sticky that we were unable to lift our plates or cups from it. It was not a pleasant experience and we will not be returning any time soon.

Aww just had on a Sunday morning in bed a bacon sandwich that my partner bought from here. I have to say it was absolutely gorgeous. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend.

Visiting from the U.S., we tucked into Harrison's of Hove for a delicious brunch. A clean, cozy and welcoming space with plenty of light and outdoor seating available, made for a perfect stop from our busy day of sightseeing. Harrison's offers lots of yummy options and while my boyfriend ordered the full English breakfast, I had the vegetarian version with vegan sausage. We had a fresh juice smoothie and really good coffee, too! The service was excellent; everyone we talked to was really friendly and you could tell that this was a great neighborhood hangout spot with devoted regulars. Highly recommend!

Stopped at this little cafe briefly to do some work on a Friday afternoon while my partner popped into Spire opposite.

Really disappointed in the service at this cafe. We were asked to wait as they were really busy which is totally understandable when we sat down we weren’t offered menus and had to ask for them. I was feeding my daughter with my own food that I’d brought her as she’s a baby and it was her lunchtime. Even though I still ordered her a meal when she finally came over (Would you rather a screaming baby) The lady that served us was incredibly rude and couldn’t care less that we were customers. Such a shame as the food is nice but the staff don’t make you feel welcome at all. Whilst we were eating she also spoke to another lady extremely rude saying that it isn’t a playground and her children should be controlled which is totally understandable in a restaurant/cafe environment but the way she spoke to them was really not on. I wouldn’t return in a rush there’s much nicer cafes with friendly staff in Hove.

We’d been to the hospital opposite and the staff recommended Harrison’s. It’s in a parade of shops and looks a tiny bit unloved. Do not allow this to put you off. Let those who like American style coffee bar chains (you all know the ones) pass by. You will get better coffee at Harrison’s and coincidentally nicer fellow guests, no pretentiousness here. We were greeted the minute we stepped through the door and shown to a table with the suggestion we might like to sit next to the heater to warm up, such a nice gesture. There are two rooms with old wooden tables and mismatched chairs....I like that kind of look, it’s much more relaxing than sitting on snazzy designer chairs that look good but defy any form of comfort. We ordered a toastie each and were frankly amazed they were so cheap. Coffees were good so all, in all a very pleasant experience

Wondrous staff and amazing service with awesomely ambient indie music. The specials are so stratospheric they will qualify as a celestial body! Favourite regular lunchtime haunt. Thank you too for always returning our lost stuff !

I have lived 5 minutes away from this cafe for 17 years...being a local i fully support local business 100%. Unfortunately I have had two recent unsatisfactory and poor visits. In my humble opinion a dining experience shouldn't all be about food quality its how you are treated by the staff. The guy behind the counter was pleasant enough...but i made the cardinal sin of requesting the jerk chicken burger made into a wrap..! I was told that the chef wouldn't go for that..Reeaallly?? Plus from there on the attitude and service from the staff towards me was crap...! As a solo diner its very off putting. plus what i ended up having cost less than the special..so they lost out financially. People reading this. You are better off going to the garden cafe..st annes wells..better menu and friendlier welcoming staff...!!!!! Trust me ..lost faith in this place!

Thank you Harrison's of Hove for the great brunch / lunch menu and the toys for the children in the group to play with. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the friendly environment it was in. Was fun to see the staff engaging with the children and ensuring that we were all happy with the service and food.

Ten of us had breakfast at Harrison, a venue I had not visited before, but were happy to reserve a table for 10 in advance. A very extensive breakfast menu and you can even 'build your own' breakfast to suit your choice. My American family, who are visiting thought it was as good as any they have been to at home and all in all, everyone was happy (even the children!). Thoroughly recommended for a hearty breakfast.

Don't come here if you wanted just 5 mins for a coffee. Had a quick gap between meetings, asked how long food will be was told at least 15/20 mins, then said I'm in a rush will just have a coffee. Then got turfed out in front of everyone without even an apology. " I was told (despite there being plenty) I obviously didn't have time for food so wasn't planning to outstay my welcome. I live and work with 5 mins from this place, it came recommended. I will not be returning after they were so rude. Do they not realise the message that sends?!?!

This is a nice place with good food but after the last couple of visits we probably won't bother going back, purely because the service is so miserable. This time we were ignored whilst waiting to be seated, ordering food seemed like an inconvenience and then ignored and kept waiting as went to pay - which felt intentional somehow. It's a shame as it's a good cafe but let down by the staff.

I pop along here regularly and they always do a great breakfast. Good quality sausages and bacon cooked properly and eggs as you like them. I also really like their bubble and squeaj!

Went there for brunch and ordered the veggie breakfast. My partner ordered the full English. Place was busy and it took about 10 mins to get our order taken. Drinks arrived quickly. Strong coffee. Food took a while to arrive, about 40 mins. My veggie breakfast lacked the advertised sausage, though there seemed to be extra tomato and mushroom to compensate. We had to remind the waiter about the toasts which also had not materialised. Food was ok but a bit inconsistent, my eggs were greasy, while my partner's egg was not. The mushrooms were a bit cold. The tomatoes were tasty as well as the hash brown. All in all, it's an ok place, but service, although friendly, was slow (they probably could do with more staff) and food a bit inconsistent. Decor is nice.

Having become a local favourite, I could not imagine going elsewhere. The staff are friendly and you can always rely on great food.

Noisy with screaming kids. Rude staff. Give it a miss! A miserable chap behind the counter rudely directed me to sit near the door ..... lots of reserved tables for groups of mothers with more screaming kids!!

We pop in here for coffee and a bite to eat when visiting the Montefiore hospital opposite. Service is very friendly and eager to please. Food is freshly prepared and tastes wonderful. Love the decor and painting on the walls that are for sale. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This is the best place for breakfast in Brighton! Not pretensious, no beans in a little pot, just very good food. Always welcoming and I have never been disappointed.Perfect for meeting friends or taking the family. Just love it!

Greeted with a rude attitude , the man behind the bar asked me to rudely sit over near couch as I was only ordering a coffee and the moved my pushchair saying it was blocking the door which is was not. Made feel unwelcome.

Really lovely breakfast! Came here because of trip advisor and Facebook! Was not disappointed!! Really good you get to choose exactly what's on your breakfast too! Quick service, lovely atmosphere! And really polite and friendly staff! Will be coming here more often as its not that far from home!

After a three hour drive, I needed a pick me up full fry and I got one with bells on. It was quiet around 9 am and service was relaxed and efficient.

Did just pop in for a take out as was visiting the hospital over the rd and decided to stay. After I left I waited 45 mins for my partners appointment to Finnish, the weather was terrible and wet on a Monday morning and saw quite a few different types of people stopping in from blue collar to suits and mummy's witch shows this place is a Stella cafe in the area. Went for a breakfast with the boys from work (builders) and was shocked! Was met by a very friendly man, who sorted 2 tables for us! When you see other tables with Reserved labels on, you know it's gunna be good. I only had the "basic breakfast" and it was cooked to perfection Probably the best I've had in Brighton & Hove. Absolutely gorgeous, if there's a large group, I'd ring first to save disappointment

I really enjoy coming here on a sunday, the staff is always friendly even when they are busy. Food is delicious, good quality coffee. One of my favourite place in Hove.

We have been based in the area working for several weeks and this cafe has become our cafe of choice for a lunch break in the area. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is fresh and very good. It is busy at lunchtime but this hasn't been a problem. Decor is shabby chic. My only complaint is that it is not open in the evening! We will be back.

What a yummy breakfast I had here on Sunday! Most delicious hollandaise sauce! Great atmosphere, always busy with lots of food coming out of the kitchen. It all looked yummy! We will be back!

This place gets very busy due to it's popularity so make sure you give yourself plenty of time when visiting.

Love Harrison's for a breakfast with the girls or a lover. Never full of screaming kids the NZ staff cook like you'd get in the antipodes-hearty local food cooked simply and with bursts of flavour. Great banter, decore that encourages you to talk for hours and would highly recommend

My partner and I went for Saturday brunch, and once again this independent restaurant provided a first-class breakfast, in warm surroundings and with friendly efficient service. My partner had the vegetarian benedict - perfectly cooked poached eggs and hollandaise, with generous tasty spinach and mushrooms on a muffin. My full English was flawless, with the tastiest sausages I have tried anywhere. I would highly recommend this establishment, and will be bringing friends here in the near future.

We have been to this place before and our review is getting poor and poorer. My daughter and I went on Sunday for breakfast, order was taken and all was fine. When we got the food we ordered extra chips and strangely enough they had run out!!! One of them said they had run out and the other one said as they had a booked party they couldn’t serve us . When I asked I was told that the food was pre ordered, all reasons given were meaningless. When we went the previous time although the service was appalling we remained patient. There was a couple who came and just left in anger as they had been waiting for 15 minutes and the order wasn’t taken. I would definitely not recommend this place, lacks consistency of service and quality of food. Plus the prices are not overly cheaper than many other places around.

Great little place for a good lunch; mixed menu with sandwiches and proper meals; we had chicken cacciatore and feta salad, both perfectly enjoyable. Good service, straightforward and prompt.

Despite living 5 minutes away and passing this hundreds of times we had never gone in before, but had friends staying so decided this might be worth a try for breakfast. Im very glad we did. We had assumed it would be just a normal run of the mill cafe but were pleasantly surprised by the menu and the excellent choice. The food was really. The service was also very good and staff were friendly.We will definitely be back!

Been here a couple of times now as its my local place, and quality appears to vary depending on who's doing the cooking - and how hard they partied the night before.Most recently went on a Saturday morning. On arrival we were directed to a table in the window (as the place was almost empty) underneath a speaker pumping out banging "toons" that were just way too loud for the time and the place.Service was prompt and efficient. Almost a bit TOO efficient...I went for the biggest breakfast - a standard English breakfast fry-up, with additional chips. The sausage was bland and flavourless, the chips insipid, and the grilled tomato was actually a slice of tomato. Not a half, a SLICE. Weird. Are they really feeling the need to penny-pinch that badly?With so many other options in Brighton and Hove that offer much better quality, we probably won't be going back here.

I've visited Harrisons a couple of times. The food is simple, good quality and value for money. It's freshly cooked and served quickly in pleasant surroundings.This visit I had a pannini and it was good as expected. The room was very busy and I noticed the waiter was having to deal with a loud customer a couple of tables away. The customer kept changing his mind about his order and seemed to be trying to be difficult. Maybe he was having a bad day... However all the changes were accommodated, quickly and with a smile. Bravo!I'd recommend Harrisons for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or just coffee and cake. It's a really nice cafe that I will visit again.

Myself and my boyfriend decided to pop in for Brunch at 2.00PM on Sunday, lured in by the space of the place (it has 2 rooms) and the very simple but nice decor and seats available we thought we would try somewhere we do not usually go to.The staff were friendly and we were seated quickly. There were only around 10 people in the cafe including ourselves- the cafe can take around 30 covers so it was hardly rammed.I ordered the American style pancakes with maple syrup and 2 additional rashers of bacon, my boyfriend ordered the 3 egg omelette with smoked bacon and chorizo (ordering the bacon extra crispy).As we sat and waited we saw numerous other dishes coming from the kitchen, all looked nice, the produce seemed like a good quality and I almost wished Id ordered something else as it all looked good.Some 30 mins later through and our teas were drunk and still no food. We asked the waiter where our food was as pancakes and Omelette do not take long and other people who came in after us appeared to be getting their food sooner. We were told that the Chef had to make some fresh batter for the pancakes, we were a bit annoyed that this information wasn't divulged a bit sooner, and also I may be missing something but the last time I checked you make American pancakes in the following waySift the flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl. In a separate bowl or jug, lightly whisk together the milk and egg, then whisk in the melted butter.Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and, using a fork, beat until you have a smooth batter. Any lumps will soon disappear with a little mixing. Let the batter stand for a few minutesI'm pretty sure most Chef's could rustle that up in no more than 5 minutes so If the excuse was genuine which I believe it was I would be having words with my chef as to why 2 dishes that should be ready within 15 mins at the most took 35 mins to arrive.When the dishes arrived they were very nice- the pancakes were some of the best Ive tasted. However the filling in my boyfriends Omelette was not great- it appears that in asking for the Bacon to be extra crispy the chef heard this as, burn the Chorizo.I must admit that we were both so hungry that we ate it all and also didn't complain, which in hindsight we should have done.So although my food was very nice and I saw some other nice dishes leaving the kitchen (also again not very quickly) I wouldn't go back again not unless I was prepared to wait a while for the food.

Harrison's is just around the corner from my in laws and is great little spot for a breakfast!! Everything is made from scratch and eggs Benedict with bacon is a winner Definitely worth a trip for breakfast

if you want fancy food in elegant surroundings, don't come here. But I don't know a better place locally for a good substantial breakfast or lunch, freshly prepared and with friendly service, at more than reasonable prices. The cafe has a licence with a small but very good choice of wines and beer. And they even have a dog friendly area. My omelette was the best I have had for ages. My wife's Chicken Cacciatore was delicious but too much for her to finish. And the homemade chocolate brownie with ice cream needed both of us to finish it. As general McArthur said, we shall return

Ate breakfast here every day for a week. Large range of breakfasts - including make up your own from a list. All well cooked to order. Staff friendly and 'on the ball'. Menu's delivered promptly and drinks orders are taken. Then breakfast orders taken. This the only time you have to wait, it's all cooked to order in strict rotation with when the order is received.Great value for money. If you walk out hungry it's your own fault - you should have had the "Full Monte".

Highly reccomended- generous portions of delicious food! I had eggs royale which were delicious including the smooth, silky hollandaise sause (which very often is gloopy and thick). Other diners' food looked really lovely too. Very busy and vibrant.

I attended a private function here - I cannot praise it highly enough. Wonderful staff, amazing food, beautiful surroundings.

I've been here several times with various mates etc....it should be rated as "very good" but they insist on spoiling their offerings by supplying the cheapest and most disgusting red and brown sauces imaginable...I really do not understand why they wish to degrade the overall experience of otherwise very good food in this way, particularly as they're only saving buttons by doing it!Re-think needed here guys. Your food is far too good to be ruined with this muck!!!

The thing I enjoyed most about this restaurant was that you can go for a simple English breakfast with all the trimmings or you can have a classy and sophisticated lunch with excellent service and atmosphere all in the same place. Food was great, service was too. The prices are reasonable. Great place!

I love this place. The food is always great wether it's a take away sandwich or eating in. I've only ordered from the breakfast menu but the lunch and specials menus always look good. This place is always busy, the service is great and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. I feel blessed that this is my local!

Tries hard , wants to be a restaurant but is a cafe.the eggs florentine and panninis are good but should pay more attention to their breakfasts. Half the plate excellent half either salty cold or undercooked.Think the owner thinks he running a restaurant but its a cafe first and foremost and the breakfast should be flagship and teas and coffees too.They are not.sticky tables annoying and some wobbly.

Good food, good coffee, excellent value prices, free WiFi and it well run by friendly and professional staff. This is my 5th visit, and a first on a busy Saturday lunch time. it's fast becoming my regular - I can understand why it's so popular.

The vegetarian scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms are delicious. The service is efficient. The coffee is very good and the brownies are 'to die for'.

This has to be one of the best breakfast, brunch, lunch places in Brighton, just off the seven dials. Family run and friendly, with a wide range on the menu. I always go for eggs benedict when I see it on a menu and this didn't disappoint. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

I drive pass this place everyday on my way to work so I thought I will give it a go since it;s been changed hand. I was pleasantly surprised about this place, they have 2 good menus, one for breakfast served till quite late and a lunch menu. I chose a wrap with chorizo chargrilled chicken and it was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We sat by the window and it was a dull day but felt very cosy and comfortable. Since then I have been meeting friends there for coffees and lunch, it has become one of my favourite day time hang out places..

This was a great find! Daughter started at college nearby and we needed to kill and hour and am so glad we did! Lovely guy running it, nothing too much trouble, even for just a coffee. Bekkie looked fab and will definitely be going back. Whole place just had a nice shabby chic feel about it, very relaxed.

Bright and relaxed. Excellent service and good value. Nice atmosphere and inoffensive ackground music. And our breakfasts (Full Monty for me), coffees and orange juices were good too.

Harrison's of Hove offers a charming, tidy, friendly and above-all delicious casual dining experience! The owners have done a marvelous job with updating the menu and creating a bright, attractive decor. The breakfasts are spot on - everything is made to order and tastes dleightfully fresh and attentively made. Cheery, welcoming spot - will definitely return for more!

We like this place a lot. It's kind of relaxed & modest whilst stylish & tasty.You can tell there is effort going into making things right. Delicious handsome platefulls (they appear prepared with fresh ingredients and a love of food), and friendly staff make for a good experience in a nice warm atmosphere at a decent price.

I have visited Harrison's of Hove in three separate occasions for breakfast and the place never disappoints!Portions are generous, quality of food 'spot on' and fantastic value for money- breakfast around £6 but you will leave with a full stomach. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the mushrooms were not tinned and the sausages were of local produce and extremely juicy! Staff were always extremely attentive and there is a nice chill out feel you get from the place.I am looking forward to my next visit once back in Hove, especially now that the weather gets warmer and the owner is planning to have some more extra seating outside.

But it's worth it. The food is good , the service can sometimes be slow, but the staff are friendly and nice. The average lunch will cost you anywhere between £4 and £6-00 depending on what you have and whether you have a drink with it. They have decorated the place to attract young working professionals which is fine. All sorts dine here because the food is good. The only think I would lambast them about is the slow service but this is generally because they are genuinely busy. For a lunchtime get together over a wrap or a baguette, this is the ideal place. New management, new decor, new menu, but still good food and good quality.

Up for meeting friends for breakfast? - then I'd recommend going to Harrison's of Hove. Jury's out on the name of the establishment ('Harrison's of Hove' might as well be ironmongers!) and the owner needs to invest in a plate warmer, but overall, it is difficult to find fault. Staff are friendly and attentive, the place is clean, simple and tidy, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is 'busy' and you leave feeling satisfied and wanting to go back again - surely the acid test of any eating establishment. Breakfasts are particularly good but they do a reasonable lunch menu too. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast - thank you! Harrison's of Hove, I'll be back.
