This cafe is great for coffee and the staff are Superbe. I was there on a morning where they had a short book reading by local authors which was interesting. Good atmosphere and great space.

We were hoping for a freshly cooked egg or bacon roll, but everything seems to be cooked up front, then when you order it, it gets reheated. The coffee was nice. Other reviews commented that the place was dirty, that wasn't our experience, but then it was only 9.30am and a Staff member was wiping tables

Avoid like the plague. Their advertising falsely claims that they offer parking, no caveats, no mention of the fact that should you stay for 3 hours or more that they FINE you. After spending around £12 o tea and food what do you gets from Tesco and Harris and Hoole.... a disgusting letter asking you to cough up £70. They claim that there is a sign to warn visitors..... not if you enter through the petrol station there isn't.

First time I have used a Harris Hooke coffee shop when in a Tesco’s and certainly very impressed. Bright, clean, smart and pleasant staff, good quality and well presented food. Basically everything the normal Tesco branded cafe isn’t. Coffee tasted great and although served ina cup rather than a latte glass, we probably more expensive as a result but you get what you pay for. Smoked Bacon roll was delicious and packed with bacon - crtainly better value than the Costa equivalent. Total price just over £6 which is more expensive than costa but personally I was happy to pay it - repeating “you get what you pay for”.

I popped in to get a coffee and a toastie on my lunch break. I paid and stood to wait whilst they took my toastie from the display and heated it up. I received my coffee in the meantime. After waiting for almost ten minutes, stood right next to the counter, with staff not saying a word to me, I asked when I could expect my food. They looked around at each other and shrugged, before I got an "oh sorry, I sold the last one to someone just before you." which was demonstrably untrue as I had seen them take the last one when I asked for it. So they had obviously just forgotten and sold it to someone else, and then lied right to my face about it when I had been standing there the whole time. Again, I had to prompt THEM to receive a refund as they just ignored me after saying this. They were not apologetic in the slightest that they had taken up half my lunch break before I had to prompt THEM just to be told I wouldn't be getting my food and then I had to specifically ask for a refund. I understand people make mistakes, but then to leave me standing there for 10 minutes; before insulting my intelligence by blatantly lying to me; then being rude, unhelpful and dismissive about said mistake instead of just apologising has made me feel the need to write such a negative review. This is saying nothing of the fact that I still left hungry and had to go elsewhere for my lunch. It's a shame because the food and coffee is pretty good from H&H, if a little expensive.

Having called in for a drink at 4pm whilst shopping - only 6 people there but the floor and tables were filthy - the girl cleared tables but didn’t clean or sweep floor. And some of the armchairs - grey ones are absolutely filthy with stains Service was was underwhelming!! No smiles - clearly didn’t want to be there! Need to find somewhere else for a coffee in future

If you ignore the fact that this is in the middle (ok, slightly above!) Tesco, this is a great place for a spot of lunch. The food is slightly different to casual café fare (e.g. lovely range of sourbreads) but always very good.

When you dont want to go in to town, hassle with parking, deal with too many people, then H&H at Tesco is fine to meet up or sit on your own, have breakfast lunch or tea. Always have friendly staff and there is a quieter area to read supplied newspapers whilst kids are also catered for. Food and drink pretty average, no big deal, but served using nice pottery and prices also average. An extra hideaway for a few minutes out of the rat race.

On first inspection this coffee shop looked very welcoming, clean welcoming and warm. The staff were absolutely fantastic and the food was presented beautifully and a good choice. I chose a muffin and a coffee. I am a huge coffee fan but I have to admit I wasn't keen on the flavour of their coffee. This would probably prevent me from returning as I love coffee and that would be the whole reason I would visit the store, even though I am a regular shopper in Tesco.

An interesting take on the 21st Century phenomenon of the continuing rise of coffee shops. This is still a fairly small chain and this shows in the attention to detail for comfy seating and a more personalised service than the horrors of the cafe mega-chains. Coffee and selection of snacks etc are all good. My own gripe are the prices - everything is distinctly more expensive than even the rip-off high street chains, but any feeling of being fleeced is offset somewhat by the overall quality of the experience. Shame Tescos own 49% of this company - you do wonder how far this outfit could go without being fettered by the dubious corporate suffocation of a declining supermarket chain.

I shop in Tesco's every week, but had always imagined the unknown upstairs cafe to be a typical supermarket 'caff' with indifferent coffee. Not so! It's a very classy establishment, with a kind of 'hippy' feel (delightful lady serving with flowers in her hair) and great quality coffee and cakes (also noticed various sandwiches). We each had a macchiato plus one scone between us, which was ample. Unlike many cafes where they just plonk the cake on plate, we were asked if we'd like it warm (which we did.) It soon arrived - a real, home-baked scone - with two butters and two 'Bonne Maman' jam sachets. Yum! Total cost around £6.75.A cafe can't be all things to all people, and I can quite appreciate that many people will just want a cheap cuppa and perhaps a more child-centred place. But if you want a treat in a nice environment with excellent customer service, I can't fault Harris & Hoole!

The decor is certainly nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However I was not impressed by the food or coffee that I had. It was OK, but nothing special and I think the price is too steep. If you want a quick sit down and drink before / after shopping then in my opinion its too expensive. If you are meeting someone and want a leisurely chat then its better for that but I'm not sure you would arrange to meet a friend / business colleague in a supermarket?!

What a lovely cafe!Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the selection of coffee and treats is excellent but the best thing about this cafe is the community feel that it has. I am not a local and we stumbled across the cafe (in the Tesco Extra) because we needed some respite from our boiling hotel room but there is a community calendar on the wall and my favourite thing is the book swap library that they have - well done! What a shame our own Tesco in Walkden, Manchester doesn't have one of these because their cafe is a shambles!

Harris and Hoole is definitely an interesting addition to find inside a Tesco. You can tell when you go in that it is independently operated and not part of Tesco - even though I believe Tesco have some sort of stake in the company.Place has been fitted out really nicely with bubbly young staff. Coffee and food, certainly not for someone on a budget, but the quality was clearly very high and I felt like it was good value for what I received. It was really busy when we went on a Friday lunch time, but service / waiting time was very acceptable. It seems like the place has a lot of regulars as the staff were chatting to customers by name and welcoming them like friends when they arrived. I liked this...it made it feel like it wasn't part of a big chain (even though I know it is!)I have been back again since, and is definitely worth a try if you have not done so yet...

Harris + Hoole isn't just about dropping in for a quick cuppa while shopping, it's about learning and experimenting with the art of coffee, and getting one of the best caffiene rushes in town at the same time. The team of baristas don't simply push hot water through ground beans, they undestand the subtleties in grind, temperature and pressure, in order to extract the best flavour from a coffee whilst leaving out the bitterness. You read correctly, coffee contrary to popular belief, SHOULD NOT BE BITTER.Their current choice of espresso bean, is from Union Roasters, and originates from Guatemala. It's a single origin bean (similar to a single malt in the whisky world), from the Hunapu farm (yes one farm). This is quite a versatile coffee, with the freshness associated with Guatamalan coffee, but also a little extra richness and body. As such it works very well as a long black, but also with varying amounts of milk bringing out it's richness. The same bean has also found its way into the range of iced coffees, however this time it's extracted via a filter process. The lack of pressure, and longer contact with the a coarser ground tends to emphasise the coffee's citrus, and produces something considerably lighter, as well as significantly increasing caffiene content. The iced coffee comes best simply on the rocks, with minimal additional water, as the delicate flavour would be lost to the low temperatures and excess water.Of course you can also buy these beans to take home, both in ground and bean form. Having access to a grinder will extend it's shelf life, as well as allowing you to pick and choose extraction methods. The Hunapu Microlot is so versatile that it can also be used in a cafetiere, and as a cold brew, each bringing out a variation of it's character.Coming back to the coffee shop, the staff are always happy to advise and teach, and pride themselves in their skill. Not only do they produce a coffee that entertains through taste and smell, but also in vision, with latte art skills many of us can only dream of.It is important to reiterate, H+H is about artisan coffee, and enjoying coffee at it's best. For many people who have already become accustomed to coffee from large tax-avoiding chains (that shall remain unamed), you will find the character different and unfamiliar, all I can hope for is that you try it, and open your eyes to the infinite possibility that coffee can bring.

Came in back entrance so saw no signs about needing to register parking, staff also said nothing . Later sent a letter informing me I had a £100 fine for parking in their car park. Phoned pub, who said to appeal and would pay ‘admin fee’ only. Appealed it, sent a very formal letter informing me id still need to pay £20 else a debt recovery agent would get involved and given for the appeal I had to give my address not particularly friendly warning. However now given this situation thought I better leave an honest review, to help others wondering whether to visit. The pub is not dog friendly - mine had to stay in car, first pub experienced that in years! Food nothing to write home about, extortionately priced for what you get. Somewhere I’ll remember not to return to.
