Harringtons on the Hill in Warwick

Update 15 February 2025: my friend and I came in again to Harringtons by chance. We had the fish of the day gluten and dairy free and there was a choice of warm chocolate brownie or sticky toffee pudding both gluten and dairy free. I opted for the chocolate brownie with raspberry sorbet. It was all really delicious with a friendly, speedy service. They cater well for food allergies and intolerances including gluten and dairy free. They went out of their way to amend dishes to cater for various food intolerances. The food was lovely at a good price. The photo is of the amended Eton mess.

Had a fabulous birthday meal for my husband on Saturday. The food was delicious and service was great. We had the upstairs room being a table of 23 which was beautiful. Thank you for hosting us, your whole team were so friendly and helpful and the food really was so delicious.

This was our second visit in 4 weeks, both times for lunch. At no time did the waitresses who took our orders mention that a soft drink and small glass of house wine came with the lunch menu. On the second time we lunched, I overheard another waiter mention the offer to the table behind me, so I enquired why we were not informed of this. He was most apologetic and immediate went and brought me said glass of wine. This was after I had already ordered a large one (£9.25) and my husband had ordered a diet coke (£5 a glass !). That said, we had the 3-course lunch and the food was delicious, however I doubt you could make a thinner chocolate brownie if you tried !

Sunday get together with family, unfortunately fell well short of what I would expect, If you do intend to visit make sure that they don’t have a full booking upstairs as you will be neglected on the service front, slow service and average food, the waiters / waitresses were obviously stretched with it being obvious that priority was upstairs, having to ask 3 times for condiments and ask for more drinks was not good.

Not as good as I'd been led to believe. Myself and my wife visited today for Sunday lunch and unfortunately, I was left very disappointed. We had also been interested in booking the large room upstairs for a private function (which would have been a lot of people for Sunday lunches) but I'm really glad we went beforehand as today's lunch has changed our minds. What started off well with a really good starter (the Bacon and Mushroom Bake) went downhill quite quickly when the main course arrived. I thought everything was quite tough (even the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding) but have to put that down to really blunt cutlery (my wife's cutlery was the same). I did however have to send the beef back as it was as tough as old boots. Never mind the fact that I couldn't get the knife to cut it, I didn't fancy risking my teeth on it. It did get replaced, but my wife had finished hers by the time it came back out, which spoilt things a bit. The food was also only just warm as well, and I had to remind the young lad waiting on, that I had also ordered a side of Cauliflower cheese. I decided to have dessert as well (sticky toffee pudding) which again, wasn't that great. Not sure I'll be going back after todays events unfortunately.

First visit will definitely go again food was great service was fantastic didnt rush you and left you to chat with your guests great little place we'll done all 👍

We went for a family meal before the pantomime - Jana and Charlotte couldn't have been more helpful and allowed us in early. As there were 11 of us, we pre-ordered and the food and service were faultless, and we got away in good time for the Show without feeling rushed, but feeling relaxed and at ease after a lovely meal. Booked the private room upstairs for a family birthday lunch. The food was delicious & service was excellent! Extra special fuss was made of birthday girl (decorations & candle on dessert!) Paying bill was really straight forward at end as they allowed us to set up separate tabs. A lovely afternoon had by all - wouldn’t hesitate to book again for a family occasion.

Small but busy restaurant. We were welcomed and shown to our table. Drinks were ordered and menus provided and explained. Good choices on the menu with specials available. We all opted for starters followed by “Sunday lunch” two of us had beef and two pork. We all enjoyed the meals which were well proportioned with a pleasant choice of vegetable (nice not to get carrots and peas 😆) only two of us had dessert but both the apple pie and panna cotta looked nice. Would certainly visit again if we were in the area. Positive points for us were the friendliness and efficiency of the staff and the dog free environment.

Had my wife's 40th birthday at Harringtons. The team there are amazing. The food was incredible. To serve 25 people with no delay with drinks throughout the night is a huge job. Thanks for making it a really good night. Marc

Upon arriving was greeted with a warm smile and shown to our table, I ordered the special cod chips tartare sauce and mushy peas and a bottle of rose..The batter was light and crispy the fish was white chunky and cooked to perfection, chips tartare sauce and peas were just fabulous, has to be best fish n chips I’ve had in a very long time, waiters were amazing so polite and professional with us, I would 💯 recommend Harringtons.

Birthday celebration meal with over 30 friends and family . We were seated in upstairs private dining area which was great . ALL food that was served was superb . Service was faultless . A fantastic evening was had by all ... Many thanks to ALL the staff who made it a wonderful evening...Will definitely return

Fantastic little restaurant, staff all very helpful, friendly and nothing was much trouble. All the food we had was lovely, well presented, hot and very tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant. It is important to book before you go. Went back to celebrate my wife birthday and again had excellent service, food, and staff although different we're justed as good as first ones. We will be making a 3rd visit in the future.

Very much enjoyed lunch today upstairs. Welcoming atmosphere, well presented and tasty food served by friendly and helpful staff. A very thoughtful touch was an iced 'Happy Anniversary' greeting which was completely spontaneous following a casual and unplanned comment from one of us. Very happy customers!

Really beautiful, freshly cooked food. Several family members were GF and had intolerances- all our individual meal requests were accommodated readily and without fuss and the food was excellent. It can be challenging to eat out with food intolerances, but this was a really lovely experience - thank you!

I am a bit late leaving writing about our visit (March 2024) but wanted to leave a good review as we had such a good experience here. Phoned up at late notice to ask for a booking for about ten people and the lady we spoke to was extremely helpful and moved things round with bookings so she could accommodate us. We were meeting up as a family to celebrate a birthday. Nice rustic surroundings (albeit a bit squashed in upstairs - it was hard to move between tables) and the young staff were friendly and attentive. A nice buzzy atmosphere on a Saturday lunchtime. I paid the bill and I thought it was really good value. We also had a couple of people who wanted to move menu items around to suit their preferences and this was no problem. We had my dad with us who is very frail and the staff were very patient and thoughtful towards him. It is so nice to go somewhere that is individual and not a big chain restaurant and I will definitely be back :-)

My sister hosted my baby shower here in the room upstairs, it was a lovely space for the 16 of us to eat, play games etc. Everyone said they enjoyed the food and would go back again. Staff were lovely from booking to the actual day. 100% recommend and will be back. 💙 The only thing I’d mention is some of the tables were different heights and some were stained with pink ink. The room would look better if the tables were more uniform.

We were lucky to be invited to a wedding her. Despite the numbers the staff were fantastic the food was beautiful and the atmosphere was amazing. Given they had to serve across 2 floors they did an amazing job. We will definitely return.

Harringtons was somewhere I had wanted to go for a while and unfortunately I was disappointed. We were sat upstairs which lacks atmosphere and the lights up there were constantly flickering which many people were complaining about. Our croquette starter was very bland. Steak was almost blue it was so under cooked. Chips were very overdone. Chicken supreme was tasty. The mains took a very long time to come out and there were quite a few items unavailable. The food was very disappointing I'm afraid. One good thing was that the young waitresses were lovely.

A great place to enjoy a well presented lunch. We enjoy both the lunch set menu. Great value for money.

I have eaten at Harringtons many times over the years and it has been consistent. They have 2 and 3 course meal options at a set price and lunch time options including wine. The service is good and is decent value for money given the quality of the food, recommended

Harringtons never fails to please in every respect. The welcome is always friendly and the service excellent. The menu choices are wide and the inclusive priced menu which includes a glass of wine is exceptional value. The ambience is good - especially if you ask to be seated downstairs in the window areas. Harringtons is one of the places I always feel confident when taking friends. It is best to book as it is very popular.

You’ll struggle to get a decent meal out these days but you won’t be disappointed here, small cosy restaurant, the young lads and lasses do an excellent job front of house, Food was delicious and served hot, Prices are fair. Booking advised.. All in all a good Saturday night for the two of us.

We booked for New Year's Eve. Dinner was superb as always: beef Wellington is a firm favourite and was cooked to perfection. Charlotte is a fantastic host and is so accommodating. I don't drink alcohol but she allows me to bring a bottle of sparkling non alcoholic wine to celebrate the New Year. Our friends order wine and Champagne so everyone is a winner! Great atmosphere this year too. We will be back again, perhaps on Mothers Day.

We have been going to Harringtons for over 20 years and are never disappointed. The staff are always attentive and friendly. Yesterday we were served by some lovely young ladies who were a little reserved but none the less efficient. The food is always delicious and excellent value for money. See you again soon.

I booked the private room upstairs for my Mum's 65th birthday meal. It was free to book and it accommodated the 22 of us. It was a tiny bit of a squeeze but still comfortable. There are steps to reach this room but my Mum, who has mobility issues, managed fine. The room is also on the same level as the toilets. There is free on street parking outside in the evening but it's limited. There is also paid parking nearby. The team was incredible from start to end. They devised a set menu for us taking into account dietary needs and budgets. They didn't ask for a deposit for the meals, only a pre-order a day before to help the kitchen. On arrival they asked if we wanted to set up individual tabs for the different family groups which was brilliant as it made settling the bill at the end headache free. The food is delicious and everyone commented on how good it was. It really is good value. The staff worked hard all night to make sure everything flowed well and kept everyone topped up with drinks and refilled the water regularly. They also allowed me to bring in a cake which they kindly presented, cut up and served for us on plates which I have never had before and I hate cutting big cakes! The team here really think of the little details and made the evening totally stress free. Nothing was too much trouble, the team smiled throughout and everyone, especially my Mum, had the best evening. Thank you!

Iv given a 5 out of 5 for the food, unfortunately the service was not to its usual standard, come 9pm the staff seemed to lack enthusiasm, two of the younger staff one male one female decided it was time to lean by the coffee machine for half hour and couldn’t see the four tables that were in the corner empty plates left and several of us had to get up and ask for things plus our bills, such a shame as the food was delicious

Regular haunt and has been for many years. Food and service always very good served by an enthusiastic team of young staff. Steak nights on Thursday and fish and chips on Friday are excellent and include a bottle of wine on a blackboard deal they have on. Always busy so ideally one should reserve a table in advance. Parking can be a little challenging as the area has also two busy rubs/ restaurants nearby, however, there is choice the large car park at the Queen and Castle which is pay and display or taking your chances to find free off road parking not too difficult if you fancy a small walk. Great value for money.

14 of us went to Harringtons for the 2nd New year's eve running. It was very full but in no way did that make a difference to the quality of the service or food. Both were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble to Charlotte and her staff. All requests were fulfilled quickly and efficiently Well done to all.

Kerbside appeal is most important and Harrington’s certainly has that. With its festive window decorations it is more than inviting. Once inside you are greeted with a warm friendly welcome by a great front of house team. From the time you are seated until leaving you are made to feel very special making for a great dining experience. Myself and two guests opted for traditional Christmas Faye and were not disappointed. The very generous portion of turkey was delicious, cooked perfectly with equally tasty trimmings and ample seasonal vegetables. To finish the Christmas pudding and brandy sauce was an absolute delight. If I had to sum up in one word that would be OUTSTANDING!

We had our company works lunch here on Weds 13 December and I cannot thank the staff enough for the fabulous food, service and attention to detail. We were a large booking of 41 people and my dealings with Jana were great throughout. Thanks for making our works lunch so successful.

Visited for Sunday Lunch to celebrate a family birthday. Food was delicious the 2 or 3 couse menu had an excellent choice. What stands out at Harringtons is the service everyone is so friendly and attentive.

I was in the UK for work the entire month of November. This was the best restaurant I enjoyed while there. It is warm, cozy, great staff and I thought my meals were excellent! I sat downstairs both times and found it perfectly fine and enjoyable. I found this place after researching Trip Advisor and it did not disappoint. My next trip back to the UK will have this restaurant on my short list for dinner!!!

A little disappointed, having heard such good things about Harringtons, very cramped with no atmosphere, having ordered our meals, the waitress returned to say that two of our choices were not available, service was very slow, to be fair, the food was lovely and good value. We would think twice about returning. For a Saturday lunchtime, we expected a bit better.

Had the best Sunday Lunch here last week

The restaurant offered excellent service and an extensive menu, but the food fell short of expectations with its bland and unremarkable taste. The food seemed slightly overcooked. While it had potential, the overall dining experience left room for improvement in the flavour department.

Since moving to Kenilworth have visited here on four occasions, both as a couple and in a group. On every visit the food was excellent and the service very polite and efficient, even when very full at the weekend. A nice atmosphere and decor make for a really enjoyable experience. For us this is the best place in Kenilworth to eat and offering quality freshly prepared food represents really good value. Highly recommended.

We were absolutely delighted with this restaurant. It’s in a beautiful location next to the castle, parking was easy, the staff were lovely, restaurant is cosy and had a lovely atmosphere. Our meals were very nice, top quality ingredients and really very good value. We will definitely be back!

Visited back in June 2023. The breaded brie wedges with chilli jam were indulgent and flavourful. The Sunday Roast was fantastic, all the meat was beautifully done, lovely and tender, the Yorkshire pudding was huge but didn't sit too heavy, trays of veggies on the side all of which was cooked perfectly. Easily worth the price, which seemed pretty good value anyway for the type of eatery and the location. To top it off the rum and raisin ice cream was superb. The place is small, but it helps the atmosphere. Plus we were a larger group and they were very accommodating. All the staff were fantastic, especially given how busy it was, they didn't miss a beat.

First visit and we were very impressed, I am a member of a walking group and we normally meet at a pub and lunch there following our walk, today we tried a restaurant for a change. The food was marvellous a cut above our normal fayre and the service was wonderful too congrats to all the staff involved, well done.
