Been using for the past 5 years and place is getting worse, been in tonight and asked for Large fish and chips x3 when I got home looked more like a fish special but should have know earlier as even the server asked the fryer is this one a large fish ! Really poor especially at the price this place charges All 3 fish were definitely not large would only just class as regular at the most. Stop ripping people off and give what people are paying for or people will just use other better fish and chip shop in weighton (Shame they wasn’t open!)

TERRIBLE! Ordered large haddock x2 and chips, when opened the box at home was flabbergasted at what I saw, tiny tiny fish that resembled a piece of frozen fish, hardly any batter and chips didn’t even cover the base of the box! Convinced we’d been given the wrong order so rang to ask just to be told they were correct. Not only expensive at £20 but also lacked majorly in taste, won’t be returning!

This used to be a great chippie but since changing management it's been awful. Paid over fifty pounds for a big family meal as a treat ( Friday September 22nd 2023 and got fish on the turn - fish didn't smell good and the ends tasted off and smelt of ammonia!! They tried to cover the taste with the batter but was really obvious when we started eating it. To deep blue: this is the second time this has happened in the space of months, and it's disgusting. You are relying on your reputation of old. Bad and off food can actually kill older people. You are willing to risk that to turn a profit or save money. It's pretty obvious now you are selling out of date or on the turn fish and you know you are.

This fish and chip shop was always really good but recently it has gone right down in quality. Grey tasteless fish and rubbish chips, couldn’t eat it, looked awful so will not be returning. Have to mention the shop was also full of flies.

Incredibly disappointed with my fish and chips when I arrived home. Ordered 2 x Large Haddock and 2 x Large Chips. Nearly £22. Fish was so small - less than half the size of the box. Chip portion was the same and some of the chips were uncooked. Will not be returning.

Weekend stay in a Farm House Cottage in Goodmanham which was superb. We had a day at Hornsea & needed a Fish & Chips supper. The food offer was excellent & the shop was very clean & high tech. The quality of the service was also excellent. Our supper of Haddock Chips & Mushy Peas was also excellent. If are in the area & a Chip Shop supper this is the place to go.

Lovely piece of cod well cooked, nice crispy chips not greasy at all. We were on holiday and really enjoyed our dinner.Good service We would return.

Sometimes mum dad and I get our tea in Market weighton, we always go to this fish and chip shop, the staff are friendly, and you don't have to wait long for the food

Used to be amazing as Harpers but went downhill after being taken over from Deep Blue. Owner even replied to my observations and comments and promptly suggested I take my business elsewhere if I was so unhappy which I had since done. I would rather go without a chippy tea on principle if Market Fisheries aren't open than give my business to Deep Blue.

food always tastes great, staff are friendly and they accept card online lots of the other takeaways in town.

First time using this place but have used the Deep Blue / Harper’s at Wetwang and Staxton so they had something to measure up to. Had been walking in the area on a Sunday so it is the only one open. Social distancing measures are in place so things are a little bit different but the gentleman who served us was helpful and perfectly amenable. £7.78 for large haddock and chips, freshly cooked and still piping hot when we got them back to the car after a 5 minute walk, they were every bit as good as we hoped

We visited recently and placed an order for our family, the food was really tasty. We would have been back if it wasn’t for the woman who served us who was extremely rude! Also realised we were missing items when we got home too. Disappointed after hearing such good things, maybe it was an off day.

Started to go back here now that prices have been adjusted for small eaters always good fish n chips and service thank you

I`ve always collected from Deep Blue,,, and loved it, My only negative is they not the cheapest, Ive dropped my jaw a couple of times, but the dish is plentiful..

We called there on our way to Ripon and really enjoyed them no grease and very tasty in fact excellent we will be back

Moved into the area three weeks ago, fancied fish and chips.Taste is really good, not greasy.We got two pensioners specials, there was more than enough, cost was less than a tenner!The fish is fried fresh to order, so not stood in a warming tray.I would recommend this place to friends and family and I will be returning again.

Enjoyed a fish and chip here a couple of weeks ago whilst passing me, lovely tasting fish and great portion sizes, was so full and satisfied, would definitely stop by again.

Fish quality (cod) was good - and the portion was well sized. The butter is also crispy and not too oily. Chips were greasy - the cooking oil probably has not been changed for a while? There was an unpleasant acidity to the chips.

This place was a regular port of call for me. Someone told me that it has changed hands. The Stuarts name has gone and its now 'Deep Blue.' This seems to have coincided with much smaller portion sizes, reduced quality and an increase in price. This place needs to get its act together if its going to last. It's still ok but not what it was.

My son and I had fish n chips from this local shop which is now under new management and we were impressed. The portions are good. The batter is light and crisp and the fish is fresh and tasty. The chips are good. This is a decent fish and chip shop.

Went there on Friday night with my father. We ordered 3 fish and chips. The quality was very good and had all the usual extras in the menu. Also there was a senior citizens menu with special prices. Probably best chippy in Market Weighton!!!

A quant little finsh n chip shop in Market Weighton. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Well worth taking the time the stop for a quick bite when you really dont know what you feel like for diner of if you just don't feel like cooking. Portion size is also great value for money and the curry source is simply divine!

The shop has had a refurb and now trades as Deep Blue. Fish was cooked while we waited and was done to perfection. Chips were chunky and delicious. The prices were slightly higher than at my usual chippy, but I have to admit the quality was higher. The use of cardboard cartons rather than paper probably explains part of the extra cost but at least the food stayed hot for longer. The mushy peas came in an unnecessarily large container and cost £1.20 each. One carton would be plenty for two people, so why not share and recoup some of the additional cost?

Stopped on our way through to Leeds having missed lunch. Yes, we were hungry enough to eat a hedgehog but these fish and chips were really good. The fish flaked beautifully and the chips were perfect. I also introduced my son to scratchings, they don't do those in Oxfordshire. Try this shop. It is proper food.

Always good fish and chips but for goodness sake will the proprietors stop watering down the vinegar. At 8 quid for fish chips and peas I expect to be able to put some vinegar on and taste it. It must be 90% water. Please stop it or I wont be back!

Called here a couple of times in the last week.top quality haddock,nice chips,nice mushy peas which are pea green as they should be unlike some vhip shops where peas are the same colour as fairy soap.pleasant friendly staff.my only niggle is ive been twice recently and asked for fish patties....on both occasions none available- not even to order ! But hey its not the end of the world.ive been countless times to their other sit down restaurants and they are all top notch

Great fish and chips. Huge portions - great value for money. Street parking opposite too makes it easy to drive and collect. Only negative is because they fresh cook everything, the wait time can be slightly slow for big orders. Other than that, very good fish and chips!

Visitamos Harpers en el camino a casa de un día en familia. Por desgracia nuestra visita hicimos un doble agria cuando nuestra llaves del coche y teléfono fueron robados y estamos a 50 millas de la zona. Nos pasamos más de 2 horas en la tienda con nuestro hijo de 4 años para clasificar el desorden, etc. y Carol era una auténtica estrella con nuestro hijo - era una situación muy estresante para nosotros y ella lo alimentamos, él aguadas, producido materiales colorantes e incluso una moto para él para jugar! Sin ella y las otras chicas, la situación habría sido mucho peor. El pescado y las patatas fritas eran muy sabroso, cuando finalmente llegamos un minuto para comer algunos de ellos! Os doy las gracias una gran Carol, especialmente de su mejor amigo Edward!

Often call in here for a quick get it and run meal. Portions massive, with either icelandtic Cod, or Haddock. If you are a first time visitor, make sure you are starving hungry!! Lady on front desk, highly organized, and enthusiastic, every time i visit. Well done Team!!

We always use Harpers in Market Weighton because of its great reputation and sustainable fish. Its usually lovely crispy batter and the chips are always beautiful. However on Saturday, me and my mum shared a large fish and chips. The batter wasn't cooked through, it was very wet and soggy and the batter was white on the inside. The chips were however the opposite and very over done. Very disappointing because the food is usually the best in the area.

Expect huge portions, fresh fish and very welcoming staff. Get a table by the street windows for dinner, to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Kudos, Harpers!

I popped in today for a quick bite to eat. I opted for curry sauce and chips.The curry was terrible. It was the consistency of thick gloopy wallpaper paste and stood solid on top of my chips. It tasted powdery and was inedible.The young girl behind the counter was miserable and obviously having a bad day. A complete waste of £3. I have previously heard very good things about Harper's across the East Riding of Yorkshire so was very disappointed.

Fish and chips was superb, very fresh and of exceptional quality and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend Harper's.

Visiting family and after a hard days graft decided couldn't be bothered to cook. Went to Harper's in Weighton. Arrived to smiley happy staff, asked what I would like as all fish is cooked to order. It can make things a little slow when busy but at least it is piping hot always.Five minutes later all parcelled up and off I went.Prices seem a little more expensive than some chippies although to be fair it was so good not a morsel was wasted. Well actually some chips were as there were far too many for us. Fish was huge, beautiful white chunky Cod in a lovely crisp batter. Scampi was plentiful and very tasty.Really couldn't fault it at all. Wish the Harper's at Scarborough was as good as this.

Gets busy so they can be slow the food is ok chippy food reasonably clean but a tad overpriced as much as dining out in some cases not as good as the flagship Harper's at wetwang

Travelled from Goole today with family .lovely meal as always and staff very freindly always a smile . Would highly recommend to anyone

We live locally and have tried Harpers in Market Weighton a couple of times (Usually because the other better Chippy round the corner was closed) on both occasions the food has been shocking but we wrote it off because it was later on in the night we thought it was just bad timing. So we went again for a 3rd time and it was even worse. Poor customer service from the start. I ordered my food to a right misery guts server, and paid, it's not cheap!! When I got home and dished up the food it was cold. The chips where undercooked and the fish fritter I ordered seemed to have been sat under the lights for so long that it had turned to cardboard. Wanting to give them the benefit of an explanation and perhaps a refund I called the shop to tell them I wasn't happy. I was told to leave my number and a manger would call me back. Two months later no reply to my message and therefore I give you this bad feedback. Avoid this place and go further along the road where you will find a fabulous Chippy run by staff who actually care about their customers.

Service from the ladies at the front is friendly, and efficient, and the consistant quality, is so good that when we go to the seaside, i wait till i get home to Harpers fish and chips, as they are unbeatable!! The large Cod is for large appetites only!!

I have eaten here a lot. The fish and chips are of great quality and I am not disputing that. However the portions had shrunk a lot! The fish used to fill a box and even sharing chips that did too. Now they both cover about half a box!We had a cod, haddock, two peas, two breadrolls and a shared chips at £15.40. I nearly fell through the floor. Even more so when I got back and saw the portion. Surely I was overcharged?!

Had a large haddock and it was the tastiest fish n chip shop fish we could remember in a long time. The batter was very light and crisp and the fish itself was huge and chunky, it held its shape when you cut into it rather than flaking apart. Expertly cooked by 'frier of the day' Mark. Chips were also tasty but would have liked them to have been a bit browner.

Harper's in weighton has gone down hill in the last year. The chips aren't as nice as they used to be and you usually get a lot of small crunchy ones. They're very greasy now too and usually over cooked. The fish is okay, again greasy. Scampy is just out of a bag that they bought at tesco and for the price, I'd much rather just go get a bag and do it myself at home. Won't be rushing back, sadly.

My Danish friends first 'proper' fish and chips in the UK and he was very impressed and even managed to finish a large portion which is no mean feat!!!

The food from here's good but I find it really greasy. I also find that the prices for the food and the portion size to be to high.

Had chicken and chips from here recently. We were told that it was not possible to have chips fried in oil which had not been used for battered dishes, which is awkward if you're gluten intolerant and, if memory serves me, is a change for the worse. Good portions, but about a third of the chips were very small, and the chicken was a little over cooked.

The portions are really big, my OH and I usually share a portion of chips with our order as we usually get so much.

We used to visit a lot, but we had an experience where we were given a fish cake and not a potato cake (I am vegetarian) and were then told they don't do potato cakes when we rang to say we had bitten into it and the person must have 'misheard'. Then on another visit, I made two orders and noticed that the sign said they fry in beef fat, so I said 'Oh, I'm sorry; I just noticed that sign - I'll just order my boyfriend's and not mine' the lady obviously became very agitated about it and told me ALL Harper's F&C restaurants fry in beef fat and I'd have difficultly finding a F&C shop which didn't. So I said 'Oh, okay well that's fine - I'd just like my order removing please' Then; she told me how a friend of hers was in an army hospital and he HAD to eat meat or he would have starved and I would have had to eat it too. I was being as friendly as possible so I was upset and angry that the employee felt she needed to involve herself in giving me a lecture on my life choices which it was not her place to do. So I informed her that I would have starved, and I informed her that my Brother has a serious nut allergy, if she had neglected to tell him what his food was cooked in (because it has happened previously) he would have suffered seriously with anaphylaxis. People decisions to eat or not eat particular food groups are nothing of your concern Harper's, or your employees' concerns. Needless to say we have not visited again and have told the story over and many friends and family haven't visited either. The lady clearly took my withdraw of an order as a personal insult (why, I don't know!) I am the most inoffensive of people and would never choose an argument with anyone because of their life choices.

Had takeaway fish and chips a few times. Always big portions, fish cooked well, choice of cod or haddock and size too. Chips are well cooked, curry sauce tastes amazing. Good choice of children's food too the chicken pieces are good quality I've even pinched a couple! Gets busy and not much room to wait but worth it.

Since this shop opened we have been getting our fish and chips from here every week, unless of course we are away on holiday. Carol and all the staff are very friendly and polite. After I close my business on a Friday night it's straight on the phone to order our Friday tea; it's never a problem and it's always freshly cooked and waiting.....however busy they are. Highly recommend.

Ordered a takeaway many times from this chip shop and every time, our experience has been faultless. Fish is freshly cooked and not too greasy. Same for the chips. Portion sizes and prices are excellent. A small portion is by no means small; it is definitely enough for most people. Shop is clean, staff friendly. Will return and recommend.

No need to travel to the coast for top quality fish n chips as you can get them here in market weight on, great staff and friendly service. You can go in and order your fish n chips or phone prior to going to order your food for collection
