Although this wasn’t authentic japanese food, it still tasted great, and had a lovely sit down space in the restaurant. Well decorated, servers were prompt, and the menu had a great selection. The pricing is solid, not too high or low. The food itself was nice, about a 7/10 in taste. The laksa was by far the stand out. The chicken karage was fresh and juicy. The spring rolls were solid, but passable given the pricing. The chicken is also halal! Overall, it’s a good place to have an evening dinner, but perhaps not as a regular thing

An excellent family restaurant that has been our family "go to" for 25 years. Service is good location is good. And it's easy to talk and eat and it's good for couples families or just to eat alone. The manager is super and the staff great

It's a Japanese decor and half of the menu is sushi and ramen, but the signature dish on the menu is curry laksa (Singaporean)? Ordered with doubt but the teriyaki chicken rice is so far ok, and the soup of miso ramen is above average. Next time will try sushi set and see.

This restaurant has sacrificed service and quality for volume of customers. I ended up waiting for 40 minutes in a cold uncomfortable wait area for my take away . And having just got home have found out they gave me the wrong main dish!! They are not cheap and no longer worth what they charge. Go somewhere else! Sometimes established places think they can take custom forgranted.

The most delicious and interesting Taco sushi I have ever eaten, it was amazing, it tasted crispy, all the ingredients were extra fresh, the dumling was so transparent that mmm its taste is still on my palate, I want to go again as soon as possible❤️☺️❤️ Thank you very much to everyone who contributed..

Extensive pan Asian menu but it's the curry laksa that takes the prize; the best I've tasted in London furnished with prawns, chicken, fish cake and fried tofu. Tough act to beat. It's curry laksa every time for me.

The atmosphere is what you make it. It's busy at times and I just don't like people. That doesn't mean it is the restaurant's fault. If anything, this fact attests to the restaurant's quality of food. Although a bit pricey for some dishes, the portions are quite large. I haven't left the restaurant needing more food, rather, slow down a bit because of the portions. This is a good thing rather than a bad thing. The chicken is halal but unfortunately not the rest. Food is seasoned well. It's definitely best to book a reservation before entering as it can get quite busy.

I ordered sushi and beer for a casual snack, and the sushi turned out to be incredibly fresh much better than expected! Highly recommended for anyone craving fresh sushi in Ealing.

The location was easy to find, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The quality was very poor, resembling either cafeteria food or reheated frozen meals. We ordered a selection of sushi, which had an overly thick rice layer and low-quality fillings. The tiger prawn tempura was excessively oily, to the point of dripping. The fried rice was a disaster, with large chunks of egg being the only noticeable flavor. Additionally, the place was swarming with flies and mosquitoes, making it impossible to enjoy our drinks. While the staff were kind, they were clearly overwhelmed. The price does not align with the quality of the food in any way. The food barely reaches the standard of a canteen.

Had an amazing dinner with a variety of dishes, including Pad Thai, Chicken Yakitori, Panang Curry, and Katsu Curry — all of which were excellent. The flavors were authentic, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly friendly, with Soe standing out as exceptionally accommodating and hardworking. The service made the dining experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving delicious Asian cuisine!

They can’t speak a basic English! Ordered food for 4 people and spicy noodles and he didn’t let us sit down! We said fine but once we picked up the food it’s nor spicy nor fresh! NEVER EVER ORDER FROM HERE! Also we asked that the food is not right he refused to help! Saying we don’t do spicy noodles! When we used to order few times before!

Just a few words: 1. There are no peanuts on the disc (but you can ask for extra 2: The taste is very strong, and the addition of lime makes it even more obvious. 3. The fried noodles have a medium hardness and are slightly wet and soft, and taste very chewy. 4. The ingredients are acceptable. There are basic ingredients such as bean sprouts, shredded eggs, and tofu cubes. You can add other ingredients such as carrots to make the overall texture drier. 5. Although the shrimp meat is chilled, it is still elastic. However, the shrimp meat is slightly cold and can be fried a little to make it perfect. 6. The amount of fresh shrimp is enough, there are six whole pieces 7. Onion is a great addition, it’s great if you don’t use coriander👍🏻 The atmosphere is pretty good, but I sat too close to the kitchen and heard loud music in the kitchen. It felt like there was a long buzzing and party going on. But I think it doesn't matter Diners looking for peace and quiet can sit away from the kitchen The price is good. Even though there are no drinks, it’s still worth it. It is very rare for a Japanese restaurant to open such a high-quality Pad Thai. The food is better than the restaurant next door that specializes in Thai food. And flatter. So no need to be picky. If you like pad thai, you must try it here 10/10

Yaki Udon was very yucky! Only 2 prawns in the whole dish. Very oily and not edible. Had stomachache straight away. 10% service charge automatically added. Never again🤮

Used to be amazing and affordable, since covid their prices on some things like Karage chicken has gone from £4.20 to over £9 😵‍💫 Quality of food is so much worse that they have to have changed kitchen or managerial staff. Shame, used to be so good, but now average and way over priced.

After chasing half way round Soho to find a Japanese restaurant you could actually get into, caught the train back to Ealing Broadway for the hotel, and turned left out of the station. Food awesome, service executed and very easy to get a table on a Tuesday night 👍🏼

Like everything, always seems to go downhill, seems this place has suffered since covid. Food is not the best and it's very obvious the portions have shrunk to almost half the size, the atmosphere has completely gone and they putting service charge on the bill??? I thought this was optional.

Great dining experience here. However I did feel the rice is overloaded. Service was slow however it was super busy but when they noticed us the staff did come over and respond positively. Limited vegetarian options for main courses.

I just left this restaurant with such reputation I had to wait 40 mins for my main dish and 4 tables got serviced when they arrived way after me this most annoying thing I ever experienced as much I enjoy dining in this restaurant I hope the owner will read this comment I arrived 4:55 Sunday 5th of may and I got service one started after 20 mins then waited another 20 mins for my main why ? The Hare and Tortoise in Ealing is very different to how I remember it...Asian Fusion menu with some nice wide selections, however.... The food is good. I tasted some of the options and they were nice (curries, udon etc.). The sushi was a little flat unfortunately. Service - extremely slow. We were placed at the back of the restaurant (not a complaint, someone has to sit there...) and largely ignored. Had to call over to the wait staff multiple times to get any service. My suggestion is order for takeaway/ delivery.

Don't come here for sushi, it's real bad worse than from the supermarket. Just stick to Laksa or Ramen

My Go-To would be Char Kway Teow! It tastes authentic and never disappoint! I’ll definitely recommend to visiting if you’re specially craving for singaporean/malaysian food.

Very busy on a Saturday evening but still very good service and food of a consistently high standard. Tempura and tuna tataki to start. Chicken katsu curry and the duck and rice for mains. Two glasses of wine and a small beer - £79 including a 10% service charge. That's good value these days.

I had an outstanding experience at Hare & Tortoise in Ealing! The service was impeccable, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was not only scrumptious but also beautifully presented. I can't wait to visit again soon – a true example of exceptional hospitality!

We loved the place We loved the food We loved the staff We are going back Placed on the ground floor, the place is designed in Japanese minimalism style. It is clean, smells lovely and is cozy. Staff is well trained and the manager is out on the floor all the time checking up on customers. Food was absolutely delicious. It was well prepared and each dish had different flavour. Portions were generous and prices reasonable and for every pocket. If we wanted to, we could have rated for as little as £12.50 each. And it has only 10% service charge. Toilets are also on the ground floor, clean and smell well. I highly advise the place.

We did not book and this could have been a mistake as the food and service were excellent. We were lucky being a party of 2. They managed to fit us in between bookings. Very popular venue and we can see why. Thank you for the lovely meal.

The place was fantastic...we had gone there around between 8 to 8:30, the place was a damn pack so we went around exploring Ealing and came back after half and hour and luckily we got the table. Food was fantastic and tasty and I liked the service too it was fast ... overall it was good experience

這間餐廳位於鐵路站的外面，你由鐵路站出來往右邊轉大概一分鐘路程就到 ，非常之方便非常之近， 他就在大馬路的旁邊，所以很容易找得到 。 餐廳酒簡約的裝修風格， 感覺就是一間不錯的日本餐廳。 他們的菜單上面除了日本菜外，也有一些亞洲菜式可以供選擇， 就現場所見， 比較多人選湯麵類別 ，所以我們也選了擔擔麵， 這個菜式的感覺是合符所想， 他的味道算是接受，不過不可以說好味，只可以形容他是符合他的價錢。 另外我們也點了一個鴨肉飯， 鴨肉比較乾身硬 ，肉沒有什麼質感不好吃 ，如果怕乾身食物的話就可以不選擇這個。 令人最驚喜的是他們可以點的甜品是wa出品 ，這樣令他挽回不少分數， 我們會再來的試試其他食物。

Nice Asian meals, most of them Japanese style. Service is attentive and prices are reasonable as are the portions. However, if you look for an authentic Japanese restaurant, this is not the place. Service included in the price.

A nice and busy restaurant, offering Japanese style food but also some other Asian dishes. Service is quick and attentive, atmosphere is great, the place is modern and clean and the food is very good. We enjoyed our meal and would go again. However, if you look for a true authentic Japanese restaurant, look somewhere else. Prices are reasonable.

Visited with a large party for a birthday meal. Restaurant busy but staff welcoming and very polite. They took time to explain the dishes to us and the delicious food was served very quickly. I had vegetable spring rolls with duck and rice to follow and enjoyed every mouthful. Very very tasty meal. The Ealing branch is centrally located, near lots of transport links. God willing I will come back. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I tried it for the first time and I had duck with rice and was just amazing. I have not tried anything elese though so cannot speak fir the whole menu. Need to go back and try something elese. I would like to have a steak but not sure they have on the menu.

Really nice place for Asian food lovers.

Good service, quick food, nice venue. And very importantly, I didn’t feel rushed to pay despite the venue being full. You get 1.5 hours of mostly uninterrupted booking. The broth for curry laksa wasn’t as tasty as hare and tortoise in Chiswick in my opinion but the yaki soba was delicious.

Gyoza broken open, mashed noodles in the ramen, not flavour inside, pork meat had no flavour. Service was alright, nothing extra apart from taking orders and delivering. Wrong bill given in the end.

Tempura Udon soup was luke warm, unfortunately. Makizushi were nicer. Service was lacklustre, although they’d only been open three hours when we visited and had another seven hours to go (maybe that’s the reason). No real atmosphere - they had two types of music playing; on our side we had some kind of East European folk pop, which competed with more mainstream music from the other side where the takeaway counter is located. Add those to the banter of the various customers competing at volume and you get the picture.

The katsu curry was very good, the tantanmen wasn't the best I've ever eaten, but it was still tasty. The decor is pleasant and interesting. Edamame is always a must too. When we ordered food for delivery, it was well packed and tasted okay, but the ramen noodles stuck together into one big mush... Good food and I want to try more.

Found this place by chance quite late in the evening, the staff were very friendly and came over to take orders. The menu has a wide range of options from shushi to Thai food. I was surprised when the food arrived that it was tasty and for the price paid it was great. The interior is quite basic but you definitely get your monies worth! The crab was absolutely delicious and the curry laksa soup didn’t disappoint. All in all I’d say this is a great find if you want a decent meal without paying a huge price.

During the one year we stayed in London, we visited this restaurant more than 6 times. They serve soul food! Laksa and Pad thai were our go to dishes - perfect everytime!

The food was below average. We got chicken kara-age which was very bad and maki which were fine but no more. But it's way too expensive for its average quality, we paid 80 for 2. Lastly, and this is the worst of all and something that has never happened to me ever even in the worst of restaurants, the kitchen was blasting techno music during the whole time, completely unsuitable for the restaurant and a nuisance for all the diners.

I believe this is a franchise in London and have to say was very pleasantly surprised. Came across this in Ealing by accident and was the busiest restaurant by some distance in the high street area which is always a good sign. Busy delivery operation as well. Decor was quite basic akin to a school cafe but service was prompt taken directly to my table and the cold Ashari was in front of me within seconds. Starters were squid and chicken skewers both were excellent. My companion main was the duck which literally fell apart and was really tasty. My main was the catsu chicken curry done to perfection and no complaints. The bill was a very pleasant & reasonable £50 for two and I will certainly visit other locations when in London

I visited Hare and Tortoise with my family (2 adults and 2 kids) for dinner. I'm going to break my review down into pros and cons for ease. Pros: Starters were fantastic. Veg spring rolls were hot and crispy, the chicken wings were better than KFC - deliciously crispy coating with a hint of garlic and spice. The chicken gyozas were also delicious (so much so that my kids ate them all and they can be fussy). Cons Mains were very salty (chicken and black bean in particular) Several pieces of cutlery were dirty (my kids aged 5 and 7 decided to use chopsticks even though it was difficult for them as they were put off the cutlery) The plates had stains from previous use. We ended up eating our starters with our hands and didn't place it down at all. The floor and chairs were filthy. I strategically placed my feet so not to get grains of rice or Noodles on the soles of my shoes. When the food came out it was presented poorly. Just slopped onto the plage. My husbands plate had a lot of food on the bottom of it and side. It made for uncomfortable eating. When we first walked in many staff members stared but did not approach us to seat us. My kids and I made our way to the toilets to wash our hands I'm an effort to save time just standing and waiting. Overall - I wouldn't go back. I think it needs a hygienic review.

The people are friendly and the place is big and comfortable there is a road nearby who lead to the back of the restaurant it doesn't look good, dirty and lots of rubbish.

It’s not my first time to visit this restaurant, I decided to come back because their food was good and full of Japanese people (so you can tell they are good) BUT, this time is a disappointment. Music was very loud like you're in a club, Food wasn't fresh at all. Servers looked like they were annoyed (you can see the same comment from other reviews) Food: we ordered 2 dishes, 1 is deluxe sushi box 1 is Curry Laksa. Deluxe sushi box: The nigiri are all not fresh, judging by the color and the wetness of the raw fish, you can tell they have been out for a long while, and the tuna is totally OFF with grey color, it supposed to be slightly reddish. So I asked for an exchange. Yet, the rice bed under is small and not the usual standard size. By charging £28 for this is upsetting and not worth the price. Curry laksa tastes good with a big portion, only the shrimps are not fresh and it is mushy. This is where the rating goes, not too spicy as well, won’t give you runny nose. But over priced for £14, you can find it else where for same quality but cheaper price. Ordered 1 beer and 1 yuzu soda adding up £50.30 for 2 people with 10% service charge. Like the others said, it look like they changed the chef or manager, the food just not like before. We won’t come again, there are many real Japanese restaurant around the area or acton, doesn’t need to come here. Update: we got food poisoning and having a rough day, their food control needs to improve

Wife received her food. I was waiting only to be told 10 minutes into my wife having her food, they had run out of my dish. Disappointing as they never even brought my starter or soft drink over. Like the order was forgotten. When I did receive the dish, I'm happy to say it was lovely

Very nice, Authentic and tasty food Staff are nice but a lot of orders they just get busy and don’t remember it but overall from 2 trails the place is good and recommended. Has a disabled toilet and access as well and very central few shops away from Ealing Broadway station and commercial centre
