The hare and and billet is a great location and a beautifull little pub,a hidden gem,but the drinks are expensive,and the staff,are unfriendly,and stand offish,I have tried to get to like this pub,but on my last visit,I simply said,I didn't like the art,as it depicts birds and blood sports.i haven't eaten there,and I won't go back,as I felt shut out.as it seems to be a friendly gay pub.They seem to want to get money first and have criteria,i also heard the chefs calling people names,as the toilet is near the kitchen,on another visit.very unprofessional.third time very off putting.(sorry)

I had high hopes, a lovely looking building , great location, a warm welcome but all unfortunately undone by one individual. Looking back at previous reviews of the hare and billet it would appear that this is not the first time my experience has happened, that there is an issue and it is yet to be addressed. in hindsight I probably should have been more diplomatic and asked to speak to the restaurant manager, but when you are out for a relaxing evening with your loved one, you really don't want to be ruining the evening any further by pursuing the issue in public, sometimes, and I'm sure we are all guilty of this, we let it ride and try to restart our evening. But this is acceptable and no guest under any circumstances should be made feel this way. It is extremely unprofessional and distinctly shows a lack in skill and training. It's by far the worst experience I have ever had as a paying guest in the catering industry. one individual, one very rude, aggressive and impatient male member of the bar/ restaurant team , more suited to doorwork than service it would appear. everything seemed to be a problem , service was invasive, rushed and impatient, not a smile. not one for the whole painful experience. I'm sure the hare and billet have heard about smile training within their industry, it really works but clearly not here. The pinnacle of the whole miserable experience was been called out by this individually in a threading manner when ,I think, he finally noticed I was not entirely happy with his attitude and service, with the words " what's your problem"? unbelievable. To summarise, I get the impression that this does not happen all the time, but I bet it's happening a lot more than people are prepared to say or post about. It seems to be an ongoing issue and until resolved. I'm sure it will unfortunately most likely continue to the detriment of the business. I will not be returning and I would not recommend.

Took a friend visiting from Vienna for a good local Sunday roast and we were not disappointed. Fantastic service from all the team, happy to accommodate our late arrival for booking, and our puppy. Incredibly warm and friendly welcome and prompt service. Food was exceptional and arrived very quickly, as did bill when we requested. Cannot fault anything from visit today, even though it was very busy. Highly recommended. We’ll be back soon for sure.

The chef and waiter might want to stop shouting about the customers being c***s and f-in this and f-in that as the toilet is right next door to the kitchen and we can hear it. Not impressed.

This is the first review I’ve written, and I’m taking the time because I don’t want someone to make the same mistake. I had the mussel and fish main - fish tasted off and there were 4 mussels. I ordered a side, and they gave the wrong veg thinking I wouldn’t notice. My friend had the arancini starter which was nice. Overall, it was really expensive for what it is. Also bad - the toilets, the ladies smell awful and the seats need changing.

This is a great pub for a Sunday lunch. Best vegetarian roast I've had - the Vegan Wellington with vegan gravy was so good and the roast porchetta also amazing. Desserts all home made - really couldn't choose between them - again a great vegan option with a chocolate mousse but also white chocolate cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding - all lovely. You can eat in the main pub area (recommended) or the dining room to the back which you might prefer if there are a lot of you. Had a roast in Borough market the week before but this one was the best by a long way. Staff were rushed off their feet but all friendly and good service.

Sunday lunch. Oh my goodness. What a menu, what a treat. I had roast beef, asked for medium rare which is how it came. Beautifully presented and very tasty. The cheesecake was phenomenal, glad I left room for it! Great, hard working staff. Thank you all. I'll be back!

Myself and two friends visited last week. We ordered one starter and one main each and only tap water. It came to £75 - thats £25 for a small starter and a main course. An absolute rip off, glad we didn't have anything to drink just tap water. I had mushrooms on toast to start and the vegan burger main course. The burger was stuffed full of relish and gherkins it slipped and was so mushy and fully of other stuff you couldn't taste the burger which was apparently made on site. The dish said potatoes fries with skin, they were skinny frozen chips like McDonalds chips. We were kicked out after 2 hours probably because we only drunk tap water, it really was a rip off DO NOT GO HERE waste of money.

We were really early for our reservation (so excited to get out of the house!)- and the host and staff looked after us so-well- offering us choices of tables and generally being friendly. Drinks and food came really quickly, definitely recommend getting a side of pigs in blankets. Yum. Our server Ella was really friendly and fun, looked after us really well. Dog friendly atmosphere, super safe with COVID guidelines clear and I’m place. We’re looking forward to coming in for brunch and working from the pub. Thanks so much!

Came for last nights quiz and had a lovely time! These guys are working so hard to keep the customers and staff safe, whilst still managing to create a near normal pub atmosphere. I mean, everything is a unusual at the moment, not a lot we can do about that sadly.....But coming to The Hare and Billet last night was such a nice change from our now boring day to day lives. It felt like a proper treat! My burger was absolutely delicious, my partner's venison ragu was fab, beers lovely, quiz so much fun and service really attentive! It must be so hard running a pub right now, but rest assured, you guys are doing a great job! Yes, the prices are a bit higher, and the menu is a bit shorter than before, but that's 100% understandable! We've booked again for next week. Just crossing fingers and toes we won't be put in tier 3 before then.....

I’ve only been in a few times before. A long time ago. The staff were bloody lovely. Especially the manager Nadia Farinati. She could’t do enough from start to finish. The card machine was busted and it was causing a bit of a nightmare. But she sorted it all out. She even used her personal bank to make sure customers could eat and pay. To me that’s going over and above. Dedicated to the job or what. But as I say all staff that day were just lovely. So friendly and chatty, in a nice way. Food great. Wine great. My little cosy afternoon spot in the corner lovely. I’m lucky that I live just around the corner. I’ll definitely be coming here more often.

The Hare & Billet is by far the best pub in the area, we travel past at least a dozen pubs to go. Yesterday we were walking by and thought we would see if they had availability for breakfast. Not only did they go out of their way to assist before the pub had actually opened, they allowed us to shelter from the rain 10 mins before they had opened and were super busy. They were spot on with all the COVID measures and explained everything. The breakfast was incredible, the crab omelette was perfection. We have eaten here many times and everytime it is a very high standard. They welcomed our dog, staff very professional and friendly, whats not to like?

Never been to this pub before... we went because firemen Shane drives by the pub often & like the look of it ,so as we was visiting them (family) he booked a table. On arrival no NHS app only another app I had no idea how to use ( I’m a technophobe) but this softly spoken lady called NATALIA took time & patients to go through my phone with out touching my phone & got it sorted it took 5 minutes or so . Once sat at the table she went through everything & explained they had wines at end of bin so we had a £53 bottle of wine for £25 what an amazing start:) the wine tasted fabulous, a young lad took our food order I’m well fussy & can change a menu where ever we go but hay no ask was a problem & we didn’t have to wait long for our drinks & food.The food was top class you couldn’t find fault with any of it . The portion sizes was great for hungry men tasty & nutritious. Well done to everyone at the Hare & Billet you really no your stuff you treated us like Royalty & we thank you for that at this time of covid-19 ( you covered all those corners ) you made our lunchtime fabulous NATALIA IF YOUR NOT THE BOSS ...
